Before you babygirlfy Jean, remember that he is a gangster with a prison record. He survived his sentence at the East Jersey State Prison before he had the Cosa Nostra backing him. He has a felony record because of crimes he committed out of his own free will with zero pressure from the mafia. He was canonically survived three gun battles on screen, with more likely happening off screen. Yes, he's neurotic and sleep deprived and suicidal, but JEAN IS A MOTHERFUCKING GANGSTER. I cannot overstate this, he is a natural born criminal. He is instinctively tolerant of (even attracted to) extreme danger and risk. He holds no regard for the laws of any country and instinctively sees law enforcement as the enemy. For all his vulnerabilities, he's a natural born crook with an innate love for the thrill of crime and danger.
