As Long As You Love Me
Twilight Fanfic- Reader POV
Part Six
Master List
Summary: A life changing event has you moving across the country to live with a father you never met before and into a life you never expected. It seemed like there was a surprise around every corner that you turned, and still needed to settle into your new home, but finding friendships with her you never expected, helping you along the way of your journey.
Pairing: Wolf Pack Member x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 2,617
Warnings: swearing, mentions of death and drugs
The silence between you and Jacob had become thick and cold as ice, more phone calls and messages left unreturned. Spring break had drawn out long, you finding excuses to be out of the house, hanging out with your friends or the few trips to Emily’s house when it was known that Jacob wouldn’t be there. The others had made it a goal for you to make sure he wasn’t aware when you were at Emily’s house, and they had also made sure to keep him out of conversations, unless you were to bring him up, but you had yet to do so. There had been a pattern when it came to you hanging out at Emily’s house, she or Jared would come to Forks to pick you up or to take you back to your house. Then when you were there, other than Emily, Jared and Paul would be there, sometimes Embry would stop by, but you noticed he had been the one task to keep Jacob away.
It had officially been a whole week since you learned about everything, and while it took a few days and several hours, you felt like you had a full grasp over everything, There had been a few questions that you had asked multiple times to fully understand the answer, but Emily was kind and helped the best that she could, leaving some of the questions for Sam. There had been a few that Jared and Paul would answer because they would be within earshot of the kitchen, as if they were far away from. The more time that you spent at Emily’s house, she taught you how to cook a few things and bake several things as well, the favorite one being the muffins.
“So, you haven’t talked much about your family, but I guess you’ve been trying to learn about a whole other world.” Emily stated as she was working out rolling out the next batch of cookies. You had been sitting at the table with a book that Emily had got from Billy for you, giving you more of a backstory of the tribe and their legends, so that helped with questions that you didn’t know that you had.
“I guess there isn’t much to talk about.” The softness in your voice was clear of your feelings on the matter, because it wasn’t an easy topic, but it wasn’t like she knew about it either. Emily had paused to take at you, trying to read the expression on your face, but seeing as you avoided eye contact, she was struggling on reading your emotions.
“Well what is there you would like to talk about? Your mom? Your dad? Do you have any siblings?” Marking your place in the book with a bookmark that had been given to you, you placed it down on the table, taking in each second to gather the right words to say.
“Well, I moved in with my dad after my mom passed away, and I’m an only child, so there isn’t much going on from there.” Your voice was still low, unaware of the extra set of ears that were listening into your conversation. Emily had completely stopped what she was doing and moved closer to you, washing her hands off in a damp towel.
“I’m so sorry to hear that.” Her words were cut off by the shake of your head, knowing that nothing she said would help with the feelings that still lingered within you. But there was also something about Emily, she felt like a safe place, someone safe to talk to, as you had yet to fully do that with anyone.
“It was bound to happen unfortunately, only a matter of time of when it would happen.” While you felt comfortable with sharing those small facts with her, you still found yourself biting your tongue, scared to share the full picture, scared to lose the friendship you had been building with the older woman. ”My mother was a heavy user of illegal drugs, she had been for as long as I can remember. There were many times where there had been close calls, more times that I can remember, but I guess that was too many.” Emily’s eyes had never left you, watching each movement you made.
“And you didn’t leave sooner to live with your dad?” Another pain washed through your chest, grabbing onto the hem of your sweater.
”I never knew that he existed, I had just assumed it was one of the random men she would bring home, so we didn’t know about each other until her passing.” Emily straightened her back as she looked at you, seeing the extra presence in the room from the corner of her eye, but your back had been turned on the living room.
“Were you safe?” The words came out carefully, because you had understood the deeper meaning into them, as if you hadn’t been asked the same question a million times.
“As safe as one could be, when you could go missing and no one would notice.” A thick tension filled the air as the silence grew louder than anything the house had ever heard before.
The next few seconds had moved in a blur as two people had rushed past you to outside, Emily moving around to usher you away from the door opening, but the curiosity had gotten the better of you. You had followed the two males to the doorway, watching the last few seconds as a large wolf had taken stance in the middle of the yard. It felt different than last time, the shock still hittin you with a different wave than the first time. It was only moments after that Sam had rushed passed you out into the yard, standing face to face with the beast in front of him. Emily had gently grabbed your hand and pulled you back into the house as the sound of growls and jaw snapping can be heard.
“That’s something that you don’t need to see again.” Her voice was soft as she led you into the living room, making sure to keep the yard out of your sight line.
“What’s happening?” You asked, clearly confused, but the question had gone unanswered, as you had been ushered out of the line of sight, but that effect was going worse than attended. The growls seemed to be louder, echoing the house itself, pictures on the wall rattling.
“It’s alright, don't worry about that right now.” Emily’s voice was soft, trying to change the topic on hand, but was near impossible with the scene taking place outside.
“Was it something I had said?” Panic had washed over you, as you realized someone had been listening into your conversation. The older women could only look at you with soft eyes, as things were much more complicated than she could explain, and coming from her would only make the matters more complicated than they already were.
“No, no, no, sweetheart, it’s alright.” She kneeled in front of you, grabbing onto both of your hands. “Sometimes this just happens, being a shifter is difficult and with most still being new to the concept they can shift uncontrollably.” As if she said her words softly, it would make it true, but she couldn’t tell you that fact.
The words didn’t stop the wave of emotions that you felt, because you felt like you had felt like you did the dad that your mother had passed away. You could feel the tears start to form in your eyes, but you fought hard to make sure that they didn’t move past the rim of your eyelashes. Emily could only look at you helplessly, as she didn’t know what she could do to help you. She held your hands, running her thumb over the top of them, her touch was soft and loving, like a mother. When she felt like things were getting better, heavy footsteps jogged into the room, and her eyebrows narrowed.
”No, not right now.” Her words were stern as she stood to her feet, letting your hands fall into your lap.
“I had to check on her Em, I heard what.” The sentence was cut short as you had looked up and locked eyes with Jacob, watching as the look on his face softened as he looked at you. He had been trying so hard to talk to you, for you to return his phone calls, but now to finally be in the same room as you, he finally understood what you had been going through when he had ignored you.
“It’s okay.” Emily had looked at you, making sure you were sure, before looking back at the shifter in front of her, sharing a look that the male had clearly understood.
“I never knew.” You shook your head at the statement, letting out a small breath as you did.
“It’s not like I ever told you, but you also didn’t ask.” Jacob felt ashamed of himself, because he had only been aware of the small details that his dad knew from Charlie. While Emily didn’t want to leave the room, she knew that it would be better if she left the two of you to talk.
“I only knew that she passed away.” Seeing Jacob again, and how he was trying to seem like the best friend, it had struck a nerve within you, and just like the last time you had seen him, you weren’t able to hold back.
“Yes, because how would you know that my mother was a drug addict with a who brought home different men every night and probably had every disease they teach you about in health class? How about the fact that I spent more time sleeping out on the street than I had in my own bed, or if that's what you can call a mattress laying on the floor.” Jacob could feel every muscle in his jaw tightened, listening to you talk, he could only imagine those outside that could hear you, especially the loud howls that could be heard. “Or the fact that no one did anything to help me, expecting me to turn out just like my mother, always saying that it was a matter of time.”
“Y/n.” His voice was soft, trying to step closer to you, but when you stepped back he froze.
“Why is it you all of a sudden you care about me? Is it because Bella is ignoring you now? I’ve always been your second choice, it’s been clear since the beginning.” Jacob shook his head, trying to find the right words to stop your rambling, but there were very limited choices.
”I’ve always cared about you.” He tried to argue, ignoring the comment about Bella.
“You have a funny way of showing it.” Her arms had been crossed over your chest, closing you off more to the conversation than you had been.
“Things had been complicated, I couldn't tell anyone about what was going on, there were rules that I had to follow.” A repeated comment from him, trying to justify his reasoning behind things, but that only irritated you more.
”As if my life hasn’t been complicated?” You could understand what Jacob had gone through was completely different than what had happened to you, and the two weren’t even in the same category. “I still deserved more than just ignoring me and lies, since you had so easily manipulated the truth for Bella.”
“I was trying to warn her to stay away from the Cullens. They’re dangerous as she was walking right into that danger.” His wording only added fuel to the fire.
“Nice to know how much you cared about my safety.”
“Y/n, please.” You shook your head, not wanting to hear any more of the matter, because nothing he was saying that it was helping the matter.
“Did you imprint on me? Is that why you care all of a sudden?” You circled back to your original statement, not allowing him to change the conversation.
A long silence had fallen over the room once again, and she wished for once she could interpret what the silence meant. The silence was filled by the sound of footsteps, loud like males, so you knew it wasn’t Emily, but you still ignored it. Your gaze had never left Jacob, as you waited for an answer, and deep down it was killing you. It didn’t matter how mad you had been at him, how pissed off he had made you, you still cared for him deeply. It had hurt to ignore him like you had been doing, but you wanted him to know what you had gone through, what it had felt like.
“Answer me Jacob!” You could hear the raise in your tone, and by the look on Jacob’s face, he hadn’t been expecting it either. “Did you imprint on me that night you came to my house, after ignoring me for Bella? Or did she reject you, and now because the person you love doesn't want you, you go to the next option?”
“I’ve always cared, but.”
“But Bella needed you more, yeah I know. It’s not like you haven’t told me a million times already.” You cut him off with a roll of your eyes, he was starting to sound like a broken record and it was driving you crazy. “I don’t need to be reminded in every conversation that we have.”
”It’s not like you answer my phone calls for us to have a real conversation.” You couldn’t hold back a dry chuckle as you moved further away from him, symbolizing the distance that had been growing in your friendship.
“Wow, I wonder who I got that idea from? Hmm.” Once again Jacob tried to move closer to you, but a silent warning had stopped him, and that only added to his irritation. “Now answer the damn questions! I don’t think that it’s that hard, just yes or no!” Jacob felt his shoulders drop, because he knew that you had a crush on him, he had for a long time, and he didn’t want to hurt your feelings.
“No, I didn’t.” You felt your shoulders fall, because deep down you really hoped that he did. You saw the love that Emily and Sam shared, and you wanted that, you wanted someone to look at you the same way Sam looked at his imprint. “I never meant to hurt you, Y/n, I swear.” The comment didn’t stop your feelings, or the feeling of wanting to cry. After everything you had gone through, you felt for once you would catch a break and something happy would happen to you.
“But that’s all you have been doing since Bella came back into the picture, isn’t it? Edward dumped her and you swooped in to save the day, but only for her.” Jacob had only recently realized how bad he had treated you, and what a terrible friend he had been. A silence had fallen between the two of you, unknown of what else can be said between them. You softly shook your head before moving past him, Jacob trying to grab your arm as you passed him.
“Don’t touch her.” A voice came off warning Jacob, a wave of anger washed over him, but still stopped his hand mid-air.
“You don’t own her.” It was a cold comment coming from Jacob, a tone that you had never heard from him before.
“She’s my imprint.” You turned to look at Paul, who still stood in the doorway, having to prepare himself if he had to move outside to shift.

As Long as You Love Me
Twilight Fanfic- Reader POV
Part Five
Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four
Summary: A life changing event has you moving across the country to live with a father you never met before and into a life you never expected. It seemed like there was a surprise around every corner that you turned, and still needed to settle into your new home, but finding friendships with her you never expected, helping you along the way of your journey.
Pairing: Wolf Pack Member x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 3,086
Warnings: None
You hadn’t talked to anyone about what you had saw or what you had learned, so it was a long weekend for you. You told your friends you weren’t feeling well, so had to place a rain check on your plans. Jacob had called you a few times, ignoring each time he had called, not being able to find the strength to talk to him since Friday night. You found it also ironic, since he had done the same thing to Bella, but you didn’t care. Bella had also tried reaching out to you once, but you also hadn’t answered her call. They both knew you were home, but Bella didn’t stop by, and to your knowledge Jacob didn’t stop by again.
When Monday had drawn around, you were left alone in the house, you stared at the new contact in your phone, letting out a small breath before pushing the call button. You almost wanted to end the call as soon as it started to ring, but you had been putting it off all weekend. You had many questions, and now with a more clear mind, and time to think, you were ready.
“Hey, Emily? It’s Y/n. I was wondering when a good time would be to come over, to get my questions answered?”
“Oh sweetheart, you can come over whenever you want!” She sounded excited on the other side of the phone, and it helped ease your mind.
“Will Jacob be there?” Your voice was soft, a part of you still not ready to see him. Emily had stopped her talking about randomness when she heard your question.
“Oh! I mean he comes and goes, all the guys do.” You nodded your head as if she was able to see you. “I was going to have him come get you?”
“No!” You were quick, maybe too quick, you let out a small breath before continuing. “Could you maybe have someone else come get me? I’ve kinda been avoiding him.”
“I can have someone else come pick you, if not myself, don’t worry. I can talk to Sam, keep Jacob away from the house while you’re here.” You softly smiled as you started to grab a few of your things and put them into your purse.
“I would greatly appreciate that Emily, thank you.”
“Give me a little bit, and I’ll come get you, I’ll just need your address.” You smiled once again and gave her your address so she would be able to pick you up.
You headed downstairs to leave a note for your dad, knowing he would stop by around lunchtime. You left that you didn’t know when you would be back, but stated you had your phone on you, and then left the house phone number that Emily had given you. You didn’t think that you would be there that long, but you had a lot of questions and you didn’t know how long it would take to get those answered.
It wasn’t long until you saw a familiar vehicle pull up front by the living room window. You grabbed your bag off the coffee table, turned the tv off, then turned off the lamp, and then headed out the front door, locking the door behind you. You dropped your keys into your bag, and headed to the vehicle. When you climbed in, you had expected to see Emily, but you were met with a male face. You took a moment to remember who it was, but then gave off a small smile, closing the door.
“Hello again Jared, I thought that Emily was coming to pick me up?” You asked as you strapped into the passenger seat, making sure to follow the law. Jared smiled back at you, shocked you were able to remember his name since the two of you hadn’t met in the best circumstances.
“She was planning on it, but she had a batch of cookies in the oven that she didn’t trust any of us to take them out without burning them.” He chuckled before using the driveway to turn around and head back from the way he came.
“That seems pretty reasonable.” You found yourself able to tease him, while you had barely known him, you at least felt comfortable enough to do so. Jared smiled at you once again before putting his focus on the road again.
“Gotta make sure to pay attention to the road, can’t do anything with a police officer's daughter in a car, don’t want to risk the ticket.” Jared joked, as he knew he himself could be a reckless driver at times, as his supernatural ability caused his risk factors to go down.
It was a peaceful car ride, the radio played in the background, small side conversations here and there. It wasn’t a long ride either, it never felt that way when you went to La Push. Thanks to your best friend now, you were much more open to conversation and how to contribute to those conversations as well. It had taken time, but the process was there, that even your dad had started to notice when you started to change.
“Hey Em, we’re here!” Jared called out as he walked into the house, taking a seat at the table like he had the first time you had been there. It was still awkward, you didn’t know what you were supposed to do, if there was somewhere you were supposed to sit. There was a fresh plate of cookies placed in the middle, that fact only people of the steam still coming off of them.
“Hey, Y/n, it’s good to see you again, make yourself at home. Sam should be back from patrol soon with Paul, he’ll be able to answer your questions.” You nodded your head, looking around better than you had been able to do than the other day. Still feeling awkward, you took a seat at the table, playing with the hem of your shirt, watching as Emily walked back and forth in the kitchen.
“I was actually hoping to be able to ask you questions about things first.” Your voice came out softer than you were expecting, but it gained the female's attention, she still looked at you with a bright smile.
“Oh course! I can probably understand things from your perspective better than any of the guys can.” You softly smiled as Jared had mindlessly handed you a cookie, saying nothing about it as he grabbed another one. “Ask away, and I’ll answer to the best of my ability.” You softly smiled and nodded your head, taking in the warmth of the cookie in your hand. It was still very chilly even with the classification of spring.
“Was learning everything shocking?” Emily softly hummed as she pulled another tray of cookies out of the over and placed them on a cooling rack.
“In a way, yes and no, my mother was from the Quileute tribe, so she shared the stories and legends when I was growing up. Then it was just stories, until Sam told me what he was and who I was to him.” You nodded your head, still slightly confused by her statement.
“What you are to him? I’m confused.” Emily let out a small chuckle as she dried her hands off on a dish towel and leaned on the island between you and her.
“My imprint.” Sam walked in with a bright smile on his face, going straight for Emily and showering her with kisses like he had the last time. “A simple term to view it as is a soulmate.” You nodded your head as a few more questions came to mind, but also one that broke your heart.
“So Bella is Jacob’s imprint?” You hoped that you used the word in the right terms, but assumed that you would be correct if you were wrong.
“He wished.” Paul had a cold tone as he took the open seat next to you at the table, he didn’t elaborate more and grabbed a few cookies as he leaned back.
“Are you the only one Emily?” You didn’t know why the question meant so much, because you felt like an outsider that they didn’t have much of a choice in letting in.
“Not anymore I’m not, for a while I was.” You nodded your head, looking down at your hands once again. “I’m sure you have many more questions, so don’t be afraid to ask.”
“The other day, you had referred to Bella as the Vampire Girl, so vampires are real?” It was still as shocking to you asking now as it had been when you first heard it.
“Yes, they’re real, and they’re dangerous.” Sam cut everyone off, letting it known that there was no need to beat around the bush with the answer.
“Sam, I think we should allow Y/n to the council meeting this weekend, let her hear the stories, things should make more sense to her, they’ll explain more.” Sam nodded his head at Emily’s statement, adding once again another question.
“I think that’s a great idea.” Sam agreed as he kissed Emily on the side of her face once again.
“I’m sorry, a council meeting? This probably is all clear as day for you guys, but I’m gonna need more details until I’m caught up.”
“Council meetings, is basically where all the elders go to meet, and now we join, things are talked about and gone over, stories are shared. Those on the council and go to the meetings are the only ones that know about the secret.” Jared had joined in on the conversation, the added information caused you to nod your head.
“Emily also makes the best food for when there’s council meetings.” Paul had lightened up on his tone now that the conversation topic had changed. The comment caused you to lightly laugh as you looked at Emily.
“I can tell, the room smells amazing.” The raven haired woman brightly smiled at you and thanked you as she had turned to actually check on something in the kitchen.
“Keep asking any questions that you may have Y\n, because I’m sure you still have plenty.” Sam tried to encourage you, since this happened been the first time going through this, and it wasn’t going to be the last.
“I have plenty, don’t worry, I’m just trying to think of how to word them.” Emily softly smiled as she laid a plate and glass in front of you, taking the open seat next to you next.
“I completely understand, just ask what you want, and if it might be confusing I can help with the wording.” Emily offered, which you nodded your head in response. You let a silicone fall over you, only noise coming from the tv in the living room.
“You said that you weren’t the only one anymore, who else is there?” While you knew you should be asking Sam questions, you focused more on Emily. You could see a look shared between Emily and Sam, as if they were having a silent conversation.
“It’s complicated, they’re not in the same shoes as you, so they’re being eased into this world.” You nodded your head, understanding that being eased into this would be easier than the situation that you were in.
“That makes sense.” You played with the hem of your shirt for a moment as you thought over things. “What were things that you asked the most about when you learned about things?”
“I was in a shocked state learning about it, but I had also grew up with the stories of the tribes, so I wasn’t fully in the dark.” You nodded your head, letting out a breath, because honestly her answer didn’t help you out. “I can understand if that information doesn’t help out that much.” You were once again only able to nod your head.
“I really just don’t know where to begin when it comes to asking about things, everything that I can think of sounds stupid, so I don’t want to ask.” Emily softly smiled as she shook her head at you, the look gave you a sense of calm.
“Trust me, there is no question that will be stupid to ask, our world here is everything different from everything that you knew.” You softly smiled at Emily’s words, feeling a weight come off your shoulders.
“What are things like? Being a werewolf?” This time your attention was on Sam, as he would be better at asking that type of question compared to Emily.
“We’re basically superheroes!” Jared's voice carried out from the living room, the comment causing you to let out a small chuckle, Sam looked amused by the younger male, chuckling under his breath.
“I guess that is one way to look at it, as shape-shifters, we have certain abilities other than just shifting into a large wolf.” Sam corrected your comment about being werewolf, as he could understand the confusion to the fairytales.
“Does it hurt?” You couldn’t tell if you had interpreted him, as he had taken a long pause, leaving it open for you to think over things or questions that you might have.
“With the first shifts, it can be very painful, but over time and the more times that we shift, the pain goes away.” You nodded your head at the information, as you imagined that the process could be painful, especially after what you had seen. “Things other than our initial shape-shifting abilities, we have enhanced speed, strength, and senses. Those go both in our human form and our wolf form.”
“When in your wolf form, do you all look similar?” Sam shook his head, smiling a silent thank you to Emily as she handed I’m a glass of water, and refilling the one that had been placed in front of you.
“No, we don’t.” You signed, as you felt like that should have been a question that you should have known, because Jacob and Paul did not look remotely similar. “Each member of the pack has their own color for their fur, some of us also differ in height.”
“What causes it?” You felt like you should have been more specific with your question, but by the look on Sam’s face, it was clear that he understood what you had meant. The older male let out a small breath, as he had prepared to explain everything about the vampires.
“The Cold Ones, vampires, when they are near, a magic awakens in our blood, and that causes our ability to shift into a wolf.” You once again nodded your head, as if the information had made sense to you, but you were still trying to wrap your head around everything.
When you felt like you had finally thought of another question, you felt a shift in the air, turning to look over your shoulder, you saw Jacob standing the middle of the doorway, causing anything you were about to say get caught in your throat. Sam stood up with his shoulders pulled back, the only thing standing between him and Jacob was Emily, who had her hands resting on his chest in a calming manner. Jared and Paul had stood to their feet, leaving the living room and entered into the kitchen, Paul standing the closet to you.
”You were ordered to stay away.” Jared at looked at Jacob, knowing how harsh his words came out to his brother.
”I know, but Y/n, please I just want to talk.” Jacob had looked from Jared to you, like he should have when you and Bella had been brought there.
”She doesn’t want to talk to you.” Paul took the words right out of your mouth, as you still didn’t have the strength to argue with who you thought was your best friend, but you didn’t know how to feel about it anymore.
“Stay out of this Lahote, I want to hear it from her.” Jacob didn’t hold back the glare on his face as he looked at Paul, the look only softening when he looked back at you. “Please, you haven’t been answering my calls.” You couldn’t stop the dry chuckle as it left your lips, finding it so ironic how the roles had switched.
“Wow, now you know how I feel.” A sad look washed over the raven haired male's face, but it didn’t cause you to change your feelings on the matter.
“It’s not like that, I had to cut off contact when I started shifting.” Another laugh left your lips, gaining a look from both Paul and Jared, as even they could hear the pain in your voice.
“That didn’t seem to have the same effect on Bella, because clearly you cut me out way before any of this happened.” Jacob could only stare at you, hearing you repeat the words that you had already told him, and he still didn’t have a reasonable answer for his actions. When he didn’t respond, you shook your head and looked away from him. You could see from the corner of your eye that he tried to take a step closer to you, but Jared and Paul closed that space between the two of you, cutting off your view of Jacob.
“It’s time for your patrol shift, Embry is probably waiting for you, we’ll have a discussion about this later.” Sam’s voice was thick, showing that his words were not up for debate. The room once again fell silent, your eyes glued to the glass in front of you, your train of thought gone, and now you didn’t feel like talking about everything again. Emily was able to see the look on your face as she sat down next to you.
”What other things do you have questions about?” The older female had sent a look over your shoulder, and you could feel as the temperature behind you drop, seeing that Jared and Paul had not moved from their spot.
”I don’t know.” Your voice was soft as she moved the glass of water closer to you, your hands wrapping around it, but not moving.
“Did Jacob imprint on Bella?” Your voice was barely above a whisper, but the silence was thick in the air. Emily looked to Sam for a moment, who nodded his head before leaving the room, getting the silent words from his imprint.
“No.” She offered you a sad smile as she shook her head. “Jacob didn’t imprint on Bella.”

You felt like you had finally been making process, anytime you felt like your feelings for Ethan were really growing, there would be Jacob, coming right back into your thoughts. The problem was, you hadn’t seen or spoke to him in a few weeks. You had called, but no answer, left messages but no returned calls. You had really thought that he had just forgotten all about you and was officially dating Bella. It was when you called the house and Billy answered, you learned that Jacob had been sick, so he was stuck in bed, and that’s why he hadn’t been returning your calls.
The Friday before spring break, you decided to head over to Jacob’s house, having your dad drop you off with a promise you’ll call when you’re ready to picked up if you needed a ride. You had brought over a pie you had made, with the entry to help Billy around the house if he needed anything, since you were sure that Jacob couldn’t do much while being sick. When you knocked on the door, Billy seemed shocked to see you, but also looked like you weren’t who was expecting either.
“Jacob’s not in.” You softly smiled, nodding your head. It wasn’t what you were expecting, since you had last known for him to be sick, so you just assumed that would be at home in bed.
“That’s okay, I actually came to see you, and brought a pie. I assumed that you might need help catching up on housekeeping since Jacob’s been sick.” At your comment, Billy looked almost relieved you weren’t there for Jacob.
“That’s very kind of you y/n, come on in.” He wheeled out of the way so you could walk into the house, closing the door behind the two of you. “Why don’t we cut a slice of that pie you have there, it smells delicious.”
“I can’t promise anything gourmet, but I tried my best.” You chuckled as you headed into the kitchen. You had easily learned your way around the house after how much time you had hung out there, even when it had been a while since you had been over.
“I’m sure it’s going to be amazing.” Billy smiled at you as he moved around the kitchen to grab two plates while you helped by getting a knife and forks for the two of you.
“So how’s Jacob? My dad heard from Charlie that he had mono?” Billy nodded his head, letting out a sign.
“Yeah, he’s better now, out with some friends since spring breaks started when school ended.” You nodded your head as you yourself had made some plans with your friends, nothing fancy, and some things were going based off the weather, but more than you had ever done before. Even a small part of you had hoped that you would get to hang out one day with Jacob, now that you know he was feeling better.
The two of you talked for a while, slowly eating the slices of pie that you had cut out, when another knock had come from the door, the look on Billy’s face showed many emotions, and a looked that also showed that this was something he was expecting. You said nothing as he went to answer the door, still able to hear everything from where you were standing in the kitchen.
“Bella?” You heard Billy’s voice, and were confused. You had just assumed the person Jacob was hanging out with was Bella.
“I need to see him.” It was her voice, and by the sounds of it, she was in a rush.
“He’s not in.” The same thing you were told when you had knocked on the door. The tone that he used came off differently, that was something that you did note about the conversation.
“I’m sorry, I really need to see him.” There again, the rush tone that had you confused.
“Bella.” You heard Billy’s voice call out before you saw Bella walking through the kitchen.
She had stopped for a second to stare at you, seeming confused that you were there, but Billy wasn’t planning on letting her in. She didn’t pay much attention to you other than that, as she headed straight to Jacob’s room. From where you were standing, you saw Jacob laying in bed asleep. This time you had turned to look at Billy, who did look ashamed he had lied to you about his son, but you felt like it had to be for a reason. Jacob was just getting over mono, he surely had to still have bad days. Or Billy didn’t know his son was back yet, and just told you he was still out. There seemed to be many factors, but most of them didn’t make sense to you the more you thought about it.
Soon, you heard a loud sound from outside, adding more to your confusion, and no time to ask questions before Bella had hurried out of house from the front door. Billy trying to call after her, as if he knew what was about to happen.
“Bella!” She ignored him like she had when she had arrived. “Bella, just wait a moment.” Bella walked out of the house like she was on a mission with a clear goal in mind.
From the spot, you still hadn’t moved from, you could see a group of guys outside in the yard, one you swear you recognized as Embry, but he didn’t look the same. Bella was heading straight for them, even shoving the tallest one of the group when she walked up, something you felt was unexpected, and possibly uncalled for. He looked like the person that had found Bella when she had been missing a several months back. Back then it was dark and still only saw him from a distance, so you weren’t sure who it was.
“Jake!” Billy’s voice had caused you to look away for a moment as Billy was trying to hurry to his son's room. “Jacob!” His voice came out louder than before, this causing his son to jump awake. “There’s a problem.”
Confused, you had looked back out the window to see what the problem could be. It seemed to only be a disagreement between people, it happened all the time. Then you saw something that you never expected to see, one person from the group had turned into a large wolf, it seemed to happen in a blink, and if that shock hadn’t hit you, it came like a brick wall when you saw Jacob running outside as Bella was trying to run away. You thought it was crazy that he was running towards it, until Jacob had turned into a wolf himself. They were huge, larger than any wolf you had ever seen before.
The air had seemed to be knocked out of lungs as you were frozen in your spot. You felt like you had to be dreaming, watching as two oversized wolves began to fight until they had moved into the treeline. Billy had been staring at you, watching your reaction before he heading out onto the porch, his voice calling out.
“Sam! We have a problem!” He called out, unclear who he was talking to. It was a name you had heard before, Jacob and his friends had talked about it a few times, but never in a good manner.
Coming into the kitchen, now in a closer view, it had been Embry, but looked nothing like the last time you had seen him. His once long hair had been cut short, something you had barely been able to notice on Jacob, as so much happened in a few seconds. His body build was different, he wasn’t the thin male you had once known. When he looked at you, the only expression you could see was sadness, which like everything else, nothing made sense.
“Hey Y/n.” He spoke in a soft voice, a small smile to match his tone.
“I’m sure you have a lot of questions.” You turned to look at Billy, holding what seemed like the same expression and looking at you. “Why don’t you go with Embry, you’ll be able to get all your questions answered.” Unable to find the right words, you nodded your head, grabbing your bag off the counter.
“Who’s this?” A male asked as you walked out of the house after Embry. He looked skeptical of you, which after what you saw made sense.
“This is Y/n, she was in the kitchen, facing the window. So, she’s gonna head with us to Emily’s while we wait for Sam to get back. “Y/n, this is Jared, a friend of mine.” You nodded your head as he helped you up into Bella’s truck, sticking you in the middle between him and Bella, Jared in the back of the truck.
The ride was quiet as you didn’t know what to say, or if it would be okay to say anything. Something that you also couldn’t ignore was the fact of the body heat that was coming off of Embry, with the lack of clothes that all the guys had. They only had on shorts and sneakers, you would assume they would be freezing. The one good thing was that the ride was short. Coming to a stop, Embry helped you out of the truck as Bella stayed back.
“Hey, I think we should go back and see if Jacob is okay.” You couldn’t think much, because you wondered if you were okay. You felt like you were in a dream, or maybe you poisoned yourself with the pie and had started hallucinating.
“I saw Paul sink some teeth in him, serves him right.” The comment came with a laugh as the two shoved each other back and forth.
“No way, Jacob’s a natural, see him faze on the fly. I got five bucks that Paul doesn’t even touch him.” They spoke so calm and natural, you felt like you were in a daze.
You didn’t pay much attention to the conversation at hand, still trying to find out if this was really happening, and the longer it went on, you were more sure that you weren’t hallucinating and this was all happening. Embry’s voice was the only thing you trusted at the moment, because he was familiar to you after all.
“Come on in Bella, we don’t bite.” You turned to look over your shoulder at Embry’s words, seeing as Bella hadn’t got out of the truck yet. The one thing you did noticed, she seemed to be taking the situation a lot better than you.
“Speak for yourself.” Jared laughed, his eyes landing on you for a moment before turning around.
Bella’s had finally got out of the truck, walking to your side. Finally looking at you again since coming into the Black house. You had expected her to look at you at least once, but she didn’t. She wasn’t your close friend after all, but you still felt like she was your friend, and you both had just witnessed the impossible.
“Oh hey.” Embry stopped and turned to look at the two of you. “About Emily, Sam’s fiancée, don’t stare, it bugs Sam.” Something else adding to the list of confusing things.
“Why would I stare?” Normally when Bella rarely talked around you, she was the one with all the words this time.
Bella walked into the house before you, but even over the taller girls shoulder, you now understood the comment when a girl looked at the two of you, but you honestly didn’t know if she could see who.
“Who’s this?” Her voice was soft and calming, something that you really needed.
“Bella Swan, who else?” Embry laughed before seeing you hiding behind her. “Then that’s Y/n L/n hiding behind her, she used to hang out with me and Jacob a lot last year.”
“Hmm, so you’re the vampire girl.” Emily looked at Bella, a smile on her face, another fact hitting you with full force.
“Vampire?” You turned to look at Embry who stood up and led you to the table, sitting you down next to him. You felt like you voice was barley above a whisper, but he heard you clearly.
“So you’re the wolf girl?” Bella, once again calm about the whole situation when you felt like you could pass out at any moment.
Thinking back to how things used to be, you felt like moments like this would be easy to handle. But that was the thing, you had grown to expect those things, so you were always prepared. Coming home to see your mother drinking, drunk, or passed out, had been normal, you expected that. When the drugs were added it was another one of her routines that you had gotten used to as well the more it went on.
“Guess so, well I’m engaged to one.” Emily had moved a bowl of muffins on the table that the two guys had quickly went after. “Save some for your brothers, and ladies first.” Embry had grabbed a muffin and handed it to you, giving off that look once again.
“Leave it to Jacob to find a way around Sam’s gag order.” The sound of Jacob’s name had caused you to be pulled back into the conversation.
“Um, he didn’t say anything to me.” You looked up at Bella, confused now more as she wasn’t in shock of everything happening if she was just now learning.
“That’s a wolf thing, Alphas orders get obeyed whether we want to or not.” Embry talked talked so casually on the matter. “Oh, and check it out, we can hear each other's thoughts.” He sounded so excited about the matter, exaggerating movements with his hands.

“Would you shut up!?” The slight raise in Jared’s voice and you slightly flinching, something you thought you had broken. The action hadn’t gone unnoticed by Embry either, and it made your eyes glued down on the muffin. “These are trade secrets, damn it, this chick runs with vampires.”
Everything they said, it seemed so casual, and made you once again feel like an outsider. The once closed off Bella, or the Bella you thought you knew, was here having conversations like it was easy. When you heard footsteps, you looked up as the taller man came in, and when he went straight for Emily, you put the pieces together of who it was. It was romantic how affectionate they were, something you had never seen first hand, it was cute. Next person to enter you figured was Paul, after recalling what Embry had said earlier. He took the open seat next to you, grabbing a muffin as he did.
“Sorry.” He looked at Bella with a smirk before he turned and fully noticed you sitting there, staring at you for moment before looking away.
Then there was Jacob, he leaned in the doorway, but his full attention was on Bella, something that you had grown used to. In was only a few seconds before they both walked off, leaving you basically in a room full of strangers. If you didn’t count school, you hadn’t been in a situation like this since your moms passing, and it was stirring up all those emotions and memories all over again.
“Y/n?” You looked up at Sam, realizing that had not been the first time he had said your name, and everyone was looking at you.
“Sorry, what did you say?” You hadn’t expected your voice to come out as softly as it did, looking up at the taller male.
“I’m assuming you have questions.” You nodded your head, but you couldn’t think of the words to form any questions. “You want to go over things with you first?” You nodded your head, feeling like that would be easier.
Sam had shared a look, Embry, Jared, and Paul stood up and left the table, Embry heading outside, but Jared and Paul stayed nearby, only moving to the living room. Emily had moved back into the kitchen, your eyes watching her as if she was a safety net. Sam had kept his distance, staying closer to Emily than anything.
“So first thing that I will make clear, what you have seen today, what you have learned, you can’t say to anyone; not to your best friend, not your father, not your mother, no one.” His voice was thick, sturn, going down to the point. You nodded your head, understanding that much, you didn’t think anyone would believe you if you did, and you weren’t going to try either. “Telling others will risk the lives and safety of those of yourself and the ones you’ve told.” You nodded your head once again, looking down at the muffin in your hand, still having yet to take a bite out of it. You could feel as your heart was beating hard against your ribs, overshadowing the air trying to get into your lungs.
Emily had walked over to you, pouring you a glass of juice from the pitcher that was sitting in the middle of the table. You held a soft look on her face, different from the one you had been getting from everyone else. Her hand softly rested on your shoulder for a moment, trying to calm and reassure you of the situation you had found yourself in.
“I know that this can be a lot to take in, I had been in your shoes once upon a time, don’t be afraid of asking questions.” You nodded your head at Emily, taking her words to heart.
“Do you have any questions?” You looked back at Sam, seeing the serious look still on his face.
“Is someone able to give me a ride home?” You don’t know why that was the first question you thought of, and definitely not the one you were going to ask. Emily grabbed your hand and lightly squeezed, trying to reassure you, seeing that you were still in shock. Sam had turned and looked at Paul and Jared before looking back at you, really seeing the pale tone on your face.
“Jared will be able to take you.” You nodded your head once again, feeling that adrenaline rush slowly started and all you could think of was a nap. With Jacob leaving with Bella, you already knew that you wouldn’t see him again, so you did just want to go home. Emily had moved back into the kitchen, writing something on a small piece of paper before coming back to hand it to you.
“If you need anything, don’t hesitate to call, no matter what the time is.” You smiled at her as you took the paper and put it in your pocket.
Standing to your feet, you placed the glass on the table you waited for Jared before following him outside. The ride was quiet, except for when you told him how to get to your house. At one point you had to turn on the air with how hot it was in the car, when you did Jared let out a chuckle, sending you a side glance before looking back at the road.
“It’s a wolf thing, you know?” He chuckled, gaining your attention, but you still didn’t put much effort into the conversation. “Our body temperature is always high.” You nodded your head, letting out a small chuckle yourself.
“Explains the whole shirtless boy band theme you have going on.” You joked, earning a laugh from the male.
“Makes things easier.” You nodded your head as if you fully understood, saving questions for later, as you knew that you didn’t have the energy for it at the moment.
When you got home, your dad was still out, unknowing he was out for work or just hanging out with Charlie. You knew about the bear attacks that have been happening, and thinking of that added another question that you had you wanted to ask. If you felt that it would be safe, you would have written them all down so you would make sure you didn’t forget any. One thing you did remember to do was get Emily’s number out of your pocket and save it to your phone.
Sitting on your bed, you wanted nothing more than to go to sleep, it was dark enough outside to go to sleep, but now your mind was wide awake. Hearing a small tapping, at first you thought you were hearing things, until it continued. You got up and walked over to your window, seeing Jacob standing outside.
“Move back, I’m coming up.” While confused, you moved back like he instructed, it wasn’t long until he was clumping in through the window.
“My bedroom is on the second floor.” You laughed as he climbed in.
“You have three trees that make it easy.” He laughed as he walked up to you, pulling you into a hug. His body was warm like you had expected after what Jared told you. “Sorry I didn’t talk to you when you were at Emily’s.” You nodded your head as you moved back to sit on the edge of your bed, knowing where that topic was going.
“Yeah, Bella needed you more, I know.” You nodded your head, because he had said it to you multiple times before. Jacob gave you a soft look, seeing how one sided things had been in your friendship.
“Y/n/n.” His voice was soft, but was worried about moving closer to you. “I know I haven’t been a good friend the past few months.” You shook your head as he paused, not in the mood to hear his story.
“It’s fine, I understand, you love Bella, and you want to spend time with her.” He still gave you that look. “I figured it out on my own, when you suddenly stopped answering my calls, blowing off plans. My dad heard from Charlie that you guys were always hanging out. But I also knew from the beginning that you had feelings for Bella.”
“It’s not like that.” You shook your head again, not up the any argument that could come out of this. You were too tried to be in a fight with him about anything.
“Jake it’s okay, I swear.” You let out a low breath. “I don’t have the energy for this right now, today has been a long day.”
“How are you doing? After?” He had circled back around to the matter of why he had came, but he was being carful on his words, cutting himself off, letting his voice trail.
“After seeing you turn into a huge wolf? Let alone two people?” You let out a chuckle, as you were finally able to find your words. “Terrified? Shocked? I feel so many things, but more than most hurt.”
“Hurt?” His eyes scanned over you as if he was looking for a physical injury.
“Bella had handled everything so calmly, because on a level it seemed like she already knew, and who else would have told her?”
“Sam has a gag order, I couldn’t tell her even if I wanted to.” You stared at him in disbelief.
“So you wanted to tell her?! Jacob, you're supposed to be my best friend and you’ve just tossed me to the side ever since Bella started to hang around you again after the Cullens moved away! Since the year had started, you have only called me when it’s convenient for you, I get that things have changed, but that’s only recently, you cut me out before that.”
“Y/n, Bella needed someone there for her-“
“She has friends, she had people she could turn to when everything happened, I didn’t!” You stood back to your feet, feeling your emotions stir all over again, pushing a surge of adrenaline through you.
“You had y/f/n?” He looked at you confused.
“Barley, I had just started to get to know her. I didn’t go to her house every weekend and hang out, hold conversations as I watched her work on a car. I would have thought that car would be done by now, but I mean building bikes from scratch takes time.”
“What was I supposed to do? Was I supposed to just ignore Bella?”
“You seemed to be able to ignore me just fine.” You felt so defeated, because nothing he said seemed to make things easier.
“She needed me.”
“I needed you too!” You raised your voice before stopping completely. “I just witnessed the unimaginable today, something that Bella clearly has experience with, but instead of coming to me, you went to her. I was positive you hadn’t even noticed I was there, you left me with complete strangers!”
“You knew Embry!” As if the argument was supposed to help. Sure, you knew Embry, but you didn’t know him.
“You should have at least checked on me! Jacob, you should have at least worried about me too!” Tears started to brim in your eyes, and when Jacob noticed, he went to take a step forward but you hit his hands away. “Get out.” Your voice was barely above a whisper.
“What?” Jacob asked, even though he heard you clearly, caught off guard by your words. He had never heard such a tone coming from you, not in all the months that he knew you.
“Get out!” You raised your voice, barley fighting back the tears.
“Y/n, please.” He tried to step forward but you held your hand out to stop him.
“Get the hell out of my room!” You screamed, the tears coming down your cheeks at this point. You had grabbed a pillow from the edge of the bed, throwing it at him, but it fell to the floor with little effect, making no sound when it landed.
He looked at you with sadness, but knew he needed to listen and left the same way he had come in. You barely heard a sound when he jumped out the window, and while a part of you worried about him, you felt too much anger to look out the window after him. It took you a moment before you ran to the window to close and lock it shut.

Love Out of Time Part Five
Bucky Barnes× Stark!Reader
Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four
Summary: After the Blip, nothing was the same, you had missed out on so much, but some good things do tend to come from the bad, and that's what was happening to you. The bad boy turned good, was not just the only thing that turned, as so did your feelings for him.
Word Count: 2,816
Warnings: Cursing
You had been walking around your office, you had been pacing for the past hour, reading paper after paper, Pepper had stopped in to check on you a few times, but she let you be. You had been so focused on finally going through Tony's things, something that everyone had been putting off for so long.
"Miss Stark, I hate to interfere, but you'll want to turn on the news."
Pepper had for you an assistant, to help manage things, especially when she was busy or wasn't around. It was something that you hated at first, but it was a great relief to have her around. You paused what you were doing and turned on the large TV that hung on the wall of your office. You stood, frozen in your place as a stranger, this person she had never heard of standing being named Captain American, holding the shield that didn't belong to him.
"You have to be shitting me!" You shook your head as you let out a breath before turning the screen back off, leaving it on might have caused you to throw the remote at the screen itself.
You held the remote tight in your hand as you tried to calm yourself back down, you felt anger, you were pissed beyond what you could imagine. After Steve had given the shield to Sam, he was the only one that you would want to see with the shield again, because that's who he passed it onto. Sam was meant to be the next Captain America, because that's who Steve believed it should be in his place. The anger slowly felt like it was going down, and soon was replaced with sadness. If this was how you were feeling, you couldn't think of how your friends and the other remained Avengers were feeling. You couldn't even think of how Bucky was feeling.
Bucky.
"Cancel the rest of my meetings today, I need to leave." You looked at the blonde before going to your desk to gather your things, the only thing on your mind now was Bucky, and that's where you were going.
You didn't waste time on leaving the building, the press was outside, and for once people weren't asking you about Tony, they wanted your opinion on the new Captain America. You pushed past them, saying the same thing you always did, "no comment", and continued on your way to your car. Traffic seemed worse than it normally did, probably only because you were in a hurry to be somewhere.
Walking into the apartment, Bucky sat where he normally did, on the floor next to the chair. The same place where he slept most of the time, even when you weren't there, the times you were there and he would lay with you until you fell asleep, and then would leave you alone. When you asked him about it, he always said the same thing, the bed was too soft, so he preferred to sleep on the ground.
"Bucky?" You softly softly as you laid your bag on the counter and walked closer, his eyes glued to the TV, the interview still taking place. "James." His head turned to look at you, a pained look in his eyes. The look caused an ache in your heart, because you knew that he didn’t deserve this.
“Hey, doll.” His voice was soft as you had wrapped your arms around him, your purse and keys long forgotten about on the counter.
“I wish that I could tell you that everything will be okay, but that seems like an empty promise, and you don’t deserve that.” You spoke softly as you placed a kiss to his hairline, the noise of the tv irritating with the sound of John Walker's voice, the look you didn’t care to hide as you reached over for the remote and changing the channel to something else, anything else. “Let’s make some cookies.” You spoke out of the blue as you grabbed onto Bucky’s hand, knowing he needed the distraction.
Canceling your plans the next day with Pepper, you ran to your apartment to grab a bag that you never thought you would need again, even if it was something new, and headed back to Bucky's, he needed a ride, in which you agreed. He wanted you to take him to the air force base, and you knew why, he wanted to confront Sam about giving the shield away.
“You shouldn’t have given up the shield.” You let out a small breath as you followed behind Bucky, watching as Sam came down a flight of stairs.
“Good to see you too Buck.” Sam replied before sending you a small smile, as you came with a more welcoming tone, even if you didn’t agree with the new carrier of the shield. “Y/n, nice for you to stop by.” He spoke as he continued walking, Bucky quick to follow him, so in which you followed the two males.
“This is wrong.” Bucky was of course once again straight to the point, something that you were prepared for, even if you hadn’t fully expected it from him either.
“Hey, hey, look, I’m working, all right? So all this outrage is gonna have to wait.” He looked at Bucky before glancing at you. “Y/n.” You softly smiled in return, as this conversation wasn’t about to be about pleasantries.
“You didn’t know that was gonna happen?”
“No, of course I didn’t know that was gonna happen. You think it didn’t break my heart to see them march him out there and call him the new Captain America?” It broke your heart in more ways than one when you were watching it live on tv. While the anger of the legacy was at question, your worry for Bucky was at the top of the list.
“Steve didn’t want this.” You tried to reach out for Bucky’s arm, but the two men were waking too quickly for you.
“Oh, my god. What do you want me to do?” You could hear the eye roll in Sam’s voice even if you couldn’t see his face. “Call American and tell ‘em I changed my mind? Huh?” He laughed, and if it hadn’t been for the tension coming off of Bucky, you would have laughed too. “Yeah, right. It’s a gear reunion, buddy, be well. Y/n, pleasure as always, tell everyone I said hi.”
“Will do, tell Sarah and the boys hello for me.” You smiled, as it had been your goal to keep in touch with the avengers after the Blip and the big changes the world was facing. Those off Earth were slight hard to get ahold of, as expected.
“You had no right to give up the shield, Sam.” Bucky not letting the matter go, as he came with a mission.
“Hey. This is what you’re not gonna do.” They two finally came to a stop, giving you a change to better catch up to them and their big strides. “You’re not gonna come here in your overextended life and tell me about my rights. It’s over, Bucky. Besides, I have bigger things to deal with now.”
“What could be bigger than this?” Bucky looked him in disbelief as Sam took a moment to pull at his phone, showing a photo to the two of you.
“This guy. His connections with rebel organizations all over Eastern and Central Europe, and he’s strong. Too strong.”
“And?” You signed and rolled your eyes at Bucky’s tone.
“Well, he’s been connected to this inline group called the Flag Smashers. Now, Redwing traced them to a building somewhere outside of Munich. So that’s where I’m going.”
“Well, I don’t trust Redwing. Hold on a minute.”
“You don’t have to trust Redwing, but I’mma go see if he’s right.” You signed once again, here they were fighting again. “Cause I have a feeling they might be a part of the Big Three.”
“Big Three?” Even that confused you.
“What “Big Three”?” You were glad that Bucky didn’t know what Sam was talking about either.
“The Big Three.” Sam repeated as if it was obvious.
“What Big Three?” You asked once again, as the question had yet to be answered.
“Androids, aliens, and wizards.” There he was with the obvious tone once again, but made no sense.
“That’s not a thing.”
“That’s definitely a thing.” Sam argued back, but this time you were on Bucky’s side of the argument.
“That’s definitely not a thing.” You shook your head.
“No, it’s not.” Bucky spoke at the same time as you.
“Every time we fight, it’s one of the three.” You shrugged your shoulders, as he wasn’t completely wrong.
“So who are you fight now, Gandalf?” Bucky asked, earning a small chuckle from you.
“How do you know about Gandalf?” Sam seemed to be caught off guard at the statement.
“I read The Hobbit in 1937 when it first came out.”
“Hmm.” You comment when unnoticed, but you were okay with that. You hadn’t expected Bucky to read the book, after the jock vision you had been painted from Steve at what Bucky did back then.
“So you see my point?” Sam and circled back around to the original comment.
“No, I don’t. There are no wizards.” You didn’t believe there were wizards either. You tried to recall who they had fought in the past; Aliens,a mythical God, robots, mutants?, more aliens, and then more aliens after that.”
“I don’t remember a wizard in the first place.” Both the men send you a look before looking back at each other.
“Doctor Strange.” You shook your head.
“Is a sorcerer.” You pointed out.
“Aha! A sorcerer is a wizard without a hat. Think about it. Right?” You shook your head. “I’m right. I just came up with that. It’s crazy.”
“No, DnD 101, they’re not the same.” A fact that you didn’t feel like you were nerdy enough to know, but you did.
“But that’s not the point. These guys aren’t magical.” The conversation had finally had a huge circle back around. “Alright? They use brute force just like you, the incredibly annoying guy in front of me with a staring problem.” Sam turned to walk off, Bucky following, so of course you were following.
“I’m coming with you.”
“No, you’re not.” As if the statement was up for argument, and a part of you debated about going or not to. You always had a suit with you, thanks to the nano technology, and maybe you were a little rusty, as you had been more of a office lady after everything.
The debate didn’t go far, as you and Bucky now state across from Sam on a plane, a thick tension in the air. Bucky had tried to argue about going, but you stated it was only fair if you got to go if he was going. While the whole time the voice in the back of your head went on about how much of a bad idea it had been. You had told Pepper no super heroing, to be safe, to play it safe, Morgan couldn’t lose anyone else, she couldn’t. You had never promised, and she knew exactly why. You felt like someone had to take over Tony’s place, but no one could replace Iron Man.
The guys had spent the whole time in a string contest, so when it was finally announced it was dropping time, it came a weight off your shoulders.
“Children.” You spoke under your breath, shaking your head. “Worse than children.” You signed once again, standing to your feet, feeling a tightening in your chest. Bucky had stopped and looked at you, being able to read it all on your face, and he understood what you were feeling.
“You don’t have to do this.” He whispered to you, moving away from Sam as he gathered his things. You didn’t have a long time to debate, you were only seconds away from the drop zone.
“I already jumped on the plane, there is no backing out now.” You tried to reassure yourself, trying to quickly weigh out the pros and cons.
“You don’t have to be on the front lines with us, you can run the perimeter and get intel that way.” You nodded your head once again, thinking that would be the best course.
Bucky handed you a com that you got placed in your ear before grabbing the necklace around your neck, pressing a button and a suit slowly started to come out. Nanotechnology with inspiration from Wakanda, also the help from Wakanada as a gift, giving you a suit that was a combination of Iron Man and Black Panther. For the young age that Suri was, she was amazing, and going to change the future.
“Thirty seconds!” You look in a breath, blocking out everything going around, mainly trying to ignore the bickering between Sam and Bucky, once again.
Sam was the first to jump out of the plane, you could hear the click of his wings as he did. Next was Bucky, blinking a few times as you watched.
“Did he just jump, without a chute?” You looked at the soldier and he nodded his head, causing you to let out a small sign as you shook your head.
“Ten seconds.”
Letting out a breath you jumped out of the plane, kicking your heels as the boosters turned on at your feet. Still working on your landing skills, you landed down on the ground, unsure of where both Sam and Bucky were for a moment before spotting Red Wing, and hearing Sam’s voice over the coms now that you could hear more than your own heartbeat.
‘How did Tony do this?’ You thought to yourself before starting to head north, being glad that the suit was telling you were to go.
The suit was definitely different, as this was the first time you were wearing it other than just trying it on. It made you miss your original suit, the one you had trained in multiple times before with Natasha. You still had the suit, the original suit and the newer suit that Natsha had made for you. Those suits didn’t seem like they would be suitable for this mission, and you were definitely out of practice, seeing the last two main battles that were held you were left out of. First one, you were left with Pepper, Tony didn’t trust anyone else to keep Pepper safe, which made sense as she had been pregnant with Morgan at the time. The second time was in very different circumstances, which still didn’t make sense to you.
You could deactivate the suit, you had the cat suit on under, as you never seemed to go anywhere without it, even to the office where you shouldn’t need it. There was one thing that you knew was that you could never be over prepared for anything. Without knowing what you were up against, you didn’t want to deactivate the suit.
Bucky had been quick to find you, dusting himself off as he jogged up to you, eyes scanning the outside of the suit. Mainly looking over you for any injuries, as if you would have any in the suit.
“You good?” He sounded concerned, and it caused you to softly smile at him.
“I’m good, you?” He nodded his head in response. “You jumped out without a chute? You could have waited.” You chuckled as you shook your head. The two of you walked north together, getting to the edge of the trees you stopped, scanning the ground.
“Part of me was hoping you would have stayed back, people might label you as the next Ironman.” You shook your head, knowing that label wouldn’t be passed down to you.
“Natasha trained me as a spy, no one is gonna follow me, he was a leader.” You softly smiled before looking at Bucky. “I’ll stay back, radio if you need my assistance and I’ll call out any trouble I see.”
“If you need anything, you call out for me, and I’ll be there.” You nodded your head before watching him jog off towards the building.
You could hear the two of them bickering back and forth, rolling your eyes. Everything seemed to be going as normal, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. You almost felt pointless, but once again, one can never be too prepared. The bickering came to a stop when it was announced that there was a hostage, and you knew that watching the parameter meant nothing. Out of habit you took off running, definitely not as fast as how Bucky could run, or how fast Sam could fly. It took you a moment to remember the boosters on your feet, kicking your heels you were in the air, but definitely farther behind than the other two.

As Love as You Love Me
Twilight Fanfic- Reader POV
Part Three
Part One Part Two
Summary: A life changing event has you moving across the country to live with a father you never met before and into a life you never expected. It seemed like there was a surprise around every corner that you turned, and still needed to settle into your new home, but finding friendships with her you never expected, helping you along the way of your journey.
Pairing: Wolf Pack Member x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 3316
Warnings: None?
It had been a month into the school year, and things had been pretty great. You were definitely trying to play catch up on school work, clearly seeing how much you hadn’t learned from skipping class. It was embarrassing to ask so early into the school year, but you had asked your father about getting a tutor, which you had gone to Jessica for help, who offered to tutor you with no issue. Getting the help made class work easier, Jacob even offered to help you when you went to his house and watched him work on the car. He would quiz you for answers to things he knew you were working on in class. When Embry and Quil would come by, they would help as well with different topics and questions, it made homework much easier than it had ever been before, and keeping your grades up as well.
Within the time frame of being at school and making friends, you had even participated in sleepovers, something that you had never done before. You had even hosted a few at your own home, something that you would have never done before, embarrassed for people to see how she lived with her mother. After all the times you had overheard people talking about sleepovers, you now understood why people said they were fun and why they planned them. When people slowly learned that your mother had passed away, with very little details, most people didn’t dig into your past, which made things much easier for you. You didn’t have to worry about lying to them about things or trying to make up a coverup that you would have to remember to tell others if they asked.
You had been sitting at your desk, working on homework, when there came a soft knock at your door before the sound of it opening. You have finished writing down the question you had been working on before turning to see your dad in the doorway, a look of worry on his face. You had quickly became concerned and your homework was forgotten about.
“Is everything okay?” You questioned, a panic starting to build up in the pit of your stomach.
“Charlie called, Bella is missing, I’m going to head over to his place.” Without question you stood to your feet, offering to go with him, as not giving him much of an option as you grabbed your jacket and walked out of his room, heading out to his truck.
There had already been a large crowd of people gathered outside of the Swan home, and you saw a few faces that you recognized. Getting out, your father had walked over to the small group of Charlie, Billy, and Harry. You could see a map laid out on the hood of his cop car, each man talking about the possibility of where she could be and what could have happened, because her truck was in the driveway. It was already late, and it was getting cold, and it was only going to get colder. You had walked up to Jacob, a silence was thick in the air for everyone.
“Have you heard from her?” It was a soft question, as you did know that Jacob had a crush on her, even if he hadn’t told you, you could tell. Jacob softly shook his head, checking the phone in his pocket as if she was going to magically call him.
“No, I haven’t talked to her, not since her birthday.” It was hard for anyone other than Edward to keep her attention for any matter of time. You nodded your head, as everything with her had seemed normal when she dropped you off from school. With your other friends that could drive now, it was only once or twice a week in total that Bella would pick you up or drop you off.
Thinking into it, Bella did start to act differently a few days ago, and you didn’t know what had happened. She didn’t say anything to you, but you also felt like it wasn’t your place to ask her about it. You had also noticed the lack of the Edward and Alice sibling duo at school, as everyone was talking about it.
“When was her birthday? I don’t remember anyone saying anything about it.” You felt bad that you didn’t wish her a happy birthday. You knew you wouldn’t be able to get her a gift, as you wouldn’t even know what to get her, but at least being able to tell her happy birthday would count for something.
“Tuesday.” Jacob simply answers your question, and you remember her not being able to pick you up on Wednesday, so you had to call one of your friends to come get you. She definitely seemed more distant to you the following days, but you didn’t know what to chalk it up to. “Did everything seem fine with her?” You gave a small shrug of your shoulders, as you didn’t know how to respond. You never knew what the real definition of fine was for Bella Swan.
“I don’t know, she seemed as awkward as she normally is.” You replied with a small shrug of her shoulders, giving off a look of worry. Bella wouldn’t have been the first person that you’ve known that has gone missing, but this time it felt different to you. The look of worry had much of shown deeply on your face as Jacob had wrapped his arm around your shoulder in a comforting way, your head turning to lean into him for a moment when his body had quickly turned from you. The sudden shift had caused you to almost fall, but you were quickly able to regain your balance as things started to make sense.
“Charlie.” Jacob’s voice had called out and you turned in the same direction of Jacob, seeing a shirtless man carrying Bella out of the woods.
You watched as the older man had looked up from the hood of his police car when he and his friends had been standing, staring down at something, take off in the direction of Bella being carried out of the woods by a stranger. It was a man you had never seen before, and found it strange that he was only wearing a pair of shorts, no top, in the weather of the night. It was cold, everyone else had been wearing pants, long sleeve shirts, coats, some having hats on, but then there was this guy.
“She’s alright!” You could hear his voice carry before Charlie had fully reached him, taking his daughter out of his arms.
Things seemed to still in that moment, Charlie running off in one direction with Bella, to check if she was okay. Then Jacob, he stilled in his spot, staring at a male that you didn’t recognize. You waited a moment, watching, until Jacob turned around and headed back in your direction. Assuming he would stop next to you, was proven wrong when he continued to walk, a distant look in his eyes. Wanting to ask who that was that found Bella, was caught on the tip of your tongue at that moment.
“It’s late, we better get home.” Your dad walked up to you after a while, the crowd of people were still around, but the temperature was definitely dropping more as the night progressed. Without a word, you nodded your head and began to follow. Leaving didn’t mean you didn’t look around for Jacob, wanting to tell him bye, as it would be too late to call him when getting home. You were sure you call him in the morning before school, even if it would be a short call, it wouldn’t be out of the blue that you call him before school, as you have called before on multiple occasions. It was almost like a morning routine between the two of you, but you weren’t complaining about it either.
In the morning Billy had called the house, telling your dad that Bella wasn’t able to pick you up for school, which was understandable, so you had luckily already gotten prior arrangements to get a ride to and from school. You weren’t shocked either when you hadn’t seen her anywhere at school either.
It followed like that for the next three months, Bella had basically disappeared into herself. You stopped taking your calls, giving you rides, and overall avoiding you, along with everyone else.
You and Jacob had started to hand out more, every so often he would talk to you about Bella, asking simple things about her. If you had talked to her lately? Has she given you rides again? You always had the same answers, but that never changed the fact of him asking. You knew that he had feelings for her, you knew that from the beginning, but you just thought that things would've been different, even slightly. You thought that something had been growing between the two of you. By Christmas time, you felt like the feelings you had were only one sided and he only saw you as a friend, even when times you thought he was flirting with you.
You thought when you got him a gift for Christmas, this would be different. You had been looking all month for the different gift, and when you felt like you couldn’t find anything to buy, you decided to make him something instead. You were able to put your heart on your sleeve making the gift, spending more time than you should have on it, but you wanted to make sure that it was perfect. You had taken old books to make mini paper roses and made them into an arrangement that looked like it was sitting on the forest floor, you were able to use the bottom of a flower pot holder to put everything together. It had taken you hours to make, basically using all your free time to make it.
When you weren’t with Jacob after all, the few friends that you made at school and dragging you to every school event, more easily so when they put your name on the signup for the schools cheer team, and no option to back out. You weren’t complaining either, it was nice to feel wanted and like you belonged somewhere. You enebe been so involved in school before, and to be welcomed with bright smiles, it made you feel great. With how you were feeling, you sometimes felt back with how happy you were, since the moving had not been on such good terms.
After winter break, it was a few weeks into the new year when you felt like things were changing again. Bella had called you out of the blue to hang out, which felt weird, but you already had plans, so you had to turn her down. You felt bad, because you know she hadn’t been herself in months, and it was nice that she was inviting you, but you couldn’t just back out on your current plans. It was also around this time when Jacob had started to blow you off and hang out with Bella, and while you knew you shouldn’t feel anything against it, you were jealous. Because of school and the snow, you two didn’t hang out as much as the aspect of him working on your car. It was almost done, but you still didn’t know how to drive.
It seemed in a blink it was now a whole month into the new year, and you finally started to slow down in school. Basketball was almost over, so that meant cheer for the year was almost over, but you already planned to tryout for the next year. Something you use to make fun of had became a big part of your life, and you ironically a natural at it. You had also find yourself in a comfortable spot in school, your grades better than they had ever been, and you actually understood what was being talked about in class.
Your old life had basically been put behind you, even if there wasn’t a week that passed that you didn’t think of your mom. While she was a terrible parent, she was still your mother, and you loved her, and so you still missed her. It was selfish at times you would get so mad about how much you missed her, after everything that had happened. You knew that not all your anger was pointed in that direction, that was just the situation you focused on more.
Once again, as the end of the month came, Bella invited you out to the moves again, this time is was suppose to be a big group thing, and thought she could invite you. The movie she wanted to go see was definitely not something you were interested in watching, but you didn’t want to hurt her feelings by telling her that. The only reason why you had agreed to go in the beginning was because you knew Jacob was going to be there, and you hadn’t really seen him since the end of winter break.
This time turning down the movies came from a surprised double date you had been taken on, more of a blind date, but your friend didn’t want you to go alone. She had known about your crush on Jacob, and that was the only reason why she had taken so long for the blind date, but when you started to express your jealousy, she took that as her window. While it was last minute, you had called Bella to at least let her know you wouldn’t be making the movies.
“I promise, you are going to have so much fun. Ethan is on the basketball team, in our grade, and I mean he goes to the same school after all. I have heard from serval birdies that he’s been crushing on you.” Your friend went on as she was curling your hair. “I tried to do this last weekend, but everywhere was busy because of Valentine’s Day. When you didn’t say anything about the gift you gave Jacob, I want to assume he didn’t get you anything.”
“It wasn’t much, I just made a pie, so you can’t classify that as a gift, and I didn’t directly give it to him, I said it was for him and his dad, since Jacob hasn’t come over with his dad.”
“He was with Bella?” You watched as y/f/n rolled her eyes in the mirror, shaking her head. “Hmm.”
“Billy said they were doing homework.” Your argument fell on deaf ears as the last of your hair was curled.
“Yeah, you’ve said that before.” Her tone showed her clear dislike of Jacob, which is strange as she had never met him. “No one just does homework on the holiday for couples, I think he was only telling you that to spare your feelings. Now, now, let’s get your shoes on, the guys will be here shortly to pick us up.”
“Let me leave a note for my dad so he knows where I am, just meet me in the living room.” Y/f/n nodded her head before leaving your room and heading downstairs.
What had started as a double date and slowly turned into a solo date, you had been left alone with Ethan. It was nothing too stressful, as you were at an arcade, so you knew you would be able to find the other couple if needed.
“So, did you see any prize that caught your attention?” Ethan had smiled at you, holding a pile of tickets in his hand, clearly determined to win you any prize you picked out. Your face flushed red, definitely not used to being on a date, as you know all the times you had gone out to do something with Jacob wasn’t a date, even if you had wished it was.
It was clear that Jacob only saw you as a friend, even when Bella didn’t share the same feelings. It was just a triangle that you wanted to break, but you knew it wasn’t going to be easy. You can’t just turn your feelings off for someone, but you could use Ethan as a distraction.
“I saw a large stuffed dog, I wouldn’t be opposed to that.” You replied with a small chuckle, but unable to hide your smile. “But I don’t know how many tickets it is.” Ethan chuckled and shook his head.
“Don’t worry about that.” He laughed at you, as it showed he was clearly determined to win you the stuffed animal for more than it would cost to buy it.
It was a little over an hour when you finally found your friend again, or more so she came to find you and check on how things were going. She had a large smile on her face when she found you, clearly ready to tease you with the goofy look on her face.
“So?” She teased as she did a small dance with her shoulders, causing you to roll your eyes. “How’s it going?”
“Oh, you mean after you guys ditched us, and I was left alone?” She rolled her eyes at your comment.
“You weren’t alone, you were with Ethan, and he is harmless. He’s the dorky jock that has a huge crush on you. You should really give him a chance.”
“I’m currently in the middle of giving him a chance, but I can’t just turn off my feelings.” You spoke in a lower voice, but it had been the first time all evening you had thought about Jacob. Your friend gave you a look, one you have learned well, but it didn’t change the feeling of it.
“Jacob is basically in love with Bella with everything that you’ve told me. I’ve seen her around school since her boyfriend moved, and now Jacob’s dropping everything for her. You can’t tell me he hasn’t blown off plans to hang out with you? How is that car he’s fixing for you?” You lightly bit the inside of your cheeks as you listened, having no argument to prove her wrong. “We are going out again next week after the game, invite Ethan to join you.” She smirked before walking off, as she could see as Ethan was coming up from behind you, a large stuffed dog in his hands.
“Promise is a promise.” He smirked brightly as he handed you the animal.
“Promise is a promise.” You repeated with a chuckle as you looked over it, much larger now that it wasn’t hanging up on a wall. “I love him!”
“Him? How do you know it’s a boy?” He chuckled and you shook your head with a smile.
“You just know.” You both shared a laugh as you two began to walk to the front of the building, as it was getting late after all, and you knew everyone would need to get home soon.
“Okay then, so what do you plan on naming him?” You let out a dramatic hum as you thought to yourself for a moment, looking over the animal.
“Hmm, I am thinking… Wolfie, cause he looks like a wolf.” You chuckled, Ethan shaking his head, but laughing with you.
“Okay, Wolfie it is.” You could see as your friend and her boyfriend were coming up to the front to meet with two of you.
“Next week, after the game a few of us are going out, would you like to join us?” You had turned to look at the male next to you, almost wanting to face palm for how you asked. In your mind you felt like you asked in a panic, but in reality it came out calm and casual. Ethan smiled and nodded his head.
“Yeah, I’d love to.”

Transitioning wasn’t as hard as you expected, seeing your life had taken a whole one eighty turn, it was hard to tell up from down in the beginning. It had definitely been a strange feeling each time you had gone to the store for something you needed, having the money on hand, no worry of how you would get it, or how to get it without getting arrested. No matter how much you missed your mom, you did not miss the life that you once had. You knew that she wasn’t perfect, and definitely could have tried more than she ever did. Your father was making up the best he could for all the years he missed out on, even if there was no making up for that missed time. He was making sure you had everything you needed, always asking if there was anything you needed, anything you were possibly getting low on.
When it had finally came to the first day of school, you couldn’t push back the panic you felt in the pit of your stomach. This was your fresh start, you only had one chance to make an impression on those close to your age. Bella was a senior, so you didn’t expect to be around her often, if at all, as she had her own life and her own friends. You just hoped if you had a question you would be able to ask her and she would help you out. That first question would have been where the front office was. You had gotten signed up late due to the move, and had been told to go to the office for the list of your class schedule and locker information. Your father had unknowingly talked to Charlie, and Bella and was offering to give you rides to school until you got your licenses. It was a kind jester, that also gave you a chance to ask her how to get to the office.
“Once we get to school, I’ll show you how to get to the office, there you can get your class schedule, locker assignment, and then you should also ask for the bus schedule just in case I’m not able to give you a ride.” You nodded your head at Bella, almost shocked she had started the conversation, but she had once been in her shoes as the new girl in school.
“That all seems easy enough.” You let out a small breath as you began to play with the sleeve of your shirt. “Were you nervous on your first day? When you moved here?” Bella let out a small chuckle, a sound that you didn’t hear very often from the female, but you also didn’t see her than often to begin with.
“I moved in the middle, if not later in the school year, so you could say I was a little nervous. Everyone was very welcoming, so I don’t think you have anything to worry about.” You softly smiled and nodded your head, reminding yourself that this was your fresh start. Your father was the only person in all of Forks that knew about your past, and you were okay to keep it that way. You didn’t know or Charlie knew anything, and you felt if he did he hadn’t told Bella, because she hadn’t started treating you differently at any point.
“Seems easy enough.” You nodded your head as you looked down at your bag, looking at the new fabric. It was the first year in a long time that you had gotten a new bag, not one you had stolen at the end of the school year before summer break. You had everything that you needed, and it made you feel confident. “What about school clubs? Are those something you can sign up for now or was that something you had to do last semester?” You have never been in a club before, so you didn’t know how it worked at all, and you were sure that each school was different.
“Oh, I don’t know anything about the clubs, so if you can’t find anything out today, I’ll ask my friend Jessica for you. I’m sure she will know everything you need to know about what clubs the school has and how to join them.” You smiled once again and nodded your head. Thinking to yourself that you could find at least one club or two to join, help you make more friends.
What club would even be a good one for you to join? Art Club, Theatre Club, Photography Club, Creative Writing? There were probably so many options for you to choose from, you definitely wouldn’t know where to begin. Join a sport? Volleyball, basketball, cheerleading? Would you even be good at any of those sports, it’s not like you have ever done any sport outside of gym class, when you weren’t skipping school. Would teachers be warned of your history at your old school, or would they offer you a fresh start like your father had done.
“Once we get to school, I’ll get you to the office to get your schedule, and try to help you find your first class if there is time.” Bella spoke up after the long pause of silence, you nod your head, assuming the rest of your classes you could find someone to show you around, or that the classes would be easy to find itself.
“I’m sure I can find someone to help if you’re not able to do so.” You spoke, letting her know that you were listening, when you knew you looked like you had been staring out into space.
“My friends are also planning on going to La Push after school today, the whole celebrate the last first day type thing. You are welcome to join us celebrate your first day at a new school.” Charlie had suggest that she invited you, just get it around people until you could make friends of your own. The older man had know that transition that it took for Bella in her move, so he was just trying to help you out as a friend of your father. You softly smiled at the suggestion, and even while it was cloudy it was a fairly nice day out.
“Thank you, I can ask my dad and then let you know if I see you throughout the day.” Bella nodded her head, as the two of you were not big into calling each other, but you also were very new to having access to a phone at all times. You were also honestly still trying to learn how to use your phone. You only had five contacts in your phone, and only two of them were other teenagers. You had your dad and Charlie for emergency, you had Billy as a backup for just in case emergencies, then Bella and Jacob. While you also called Jacob more than you did Bella, you found yourself very awkward and the two of you only really talked about the car.
“I hear from my dad that you have hung out with Jake a few times, Billy won’t stop joking about it.” It was an awkward chuckle that Bella let out, but you were giving her props for trying to start a conversation, even when you two were almost the school, if you hadn't gotten stuck behind a bus. You gave a small shrug of your shoulders, as you just assumed that the interactions was just Jacob being nice and keeping you updated on the status of her car. He apologized for the time it was taking, but you knew he had been working on the Rabbit a lot.
“Yeah, I guess, I’ve just been watching him work on my car a few times, he taught me about a few things like checking the oil and stuff.” It was things you never knew about before, so you were complaining about it. You were just very awkward, as you have never been around the right crowd of people. You never knew what to say, because before it didn’t matter, everyone was always too drunk to comprehend what was going on. “He seems really nice.”
“Sounds like you have a crush.” Bella softly teased, and while you didn’t know if that was true or not, it did not stop the small blush forming across your cheeks.
“I don’t know, he’s fun to hang out with, his friends are funny too.” You shrugged your shoulders, girl talk was definitely a new topic for you.
“Well that’s nice that you’re making friends with some people around your age.” Bella also knew on the small crush that Jacob had on her, so she hoped that with you around his feelings would go somewhere else.
When the two of you arrived at the school, finally able to get around the bus you had been stuck behind. The first thing you noticed was how different this school looked compared to your last school. It was smaller than your last school, that was easy to tell. The parking lot itself seemed to be smaller as well, but still looked to have enough places for people to park. There also seemed to be less students than your old school.
“Total of only three hundred and fifty-seven—now fifty-eight students, what I told myself when I had started here, but that was before the new freshman class came in and last year's Senior class graduated.” Bella offered you a small smile as she watched you look around.
Bella had been nice enough to introduce you to the secretary when showing you to the room, making sure you didn’t knock into the plant that had been placed in the middle of the room. You were able to get your class schedule and they seemed like they would be easy enough to find, the school itself was small enough. At least it was all one building and not a few different ones like you have seen at some school, but there didn’t seem to be enough students to have a large layout like that. At least your old school hadn’t been that large, but at the same point you really didn’t go to classes then anyways. It’s not like you had someone at home that cared where you were, what you were doing, how your grades were doing. This year would be a whole one eighty around from that, and you weren’t disappointed.
“Wow, look at you girl, passing along the title of new girl, now you’re just plain old Arizona.” A male with dark hair had walked up to the two do you as you exited out of the office area. “Welcome to Forks, you have any questions I am the eyes and the ears of the school.”
“Y/n, this is Eric, he’s the one friend Jessica was talking about the one day at the beach when he wasn’t able to join us.” You nodded your head, had now officially met all of Bella’s friend group.
“Ah, man. You guys miss me so much when I’m not around, you just have to bring me up to feel my presence.” He laughed as Angela had walked up to join the small group of three.
“Excited for your first day?” She asked you with a soft smile, you softly smiled and nodded your head, even if you were super anxious, you were still excited.
“Extremely nervous, but I'm excited.” You let out a small chuckle, looking at the paper in your hand once again, looking at how the next year of your life was going to be laid out.
“It’s gonna be great, I’m sure you have nothing to worry about!” Angela seemed to hold enough excitement for the both of you, but her excitement also was starting to feel contagious.
“I hope that it’s also okay, I invited Y/n to join us at the beach after school.” Bella spoke up before something behind the couple had gained her attached, as she had caught the gaze of her boyfriend.
“She was a blast last time, so I’m sure no one will mind!” Angela was still holding her excitement as she spoke for one of the group. Her excitement was quickly cut short when she noticed the time, and the class she needed to get to was on the other side of the building. “I gotta go, I’ll see you guys at lunch!” She called out, kissing Eric on the cheek before she took off down the hall.
“We can take that as the que to show you to your first class, luckily it’s not that far, so neither of us will be late.” You nodded your head before following after her, staying a few steps behind her.
Bella had been right about people be nice and helpful, once you had been shown to you first class by the older girl, you had help by at least one or two people helped you around the school, helped introduce you to other people, and you had even gotten invited to sit with a group of friends at lunch. Things had been going better than you ever expected, and you weren’t complaining. Your classes had been easy enough to find, and you trusted you would be able to find them yourself if need be. You had found someone in at least one person in each of your classes that shared the next one with you, a benefit of going to a small school.
At lunch had been, fun. While school food was school food, but you had felt so welcomed into the friend group you had been invited into. You had even exchanged your phone number with a few of the girls, who were already trying to make weekend plans with you. You were starting to believe what your father had been telling you, that things would be better once you started school. You wouldn’t have to worry about being stuck in the house for long periods of time, spend so much time alone.
During lunch you had snuck off to call your dad to ask him about going to the beach, apologizing for interrupting his work day for an non emergency, and how you knew you really shouldn’t have your phone out during school hours. The older man waved off your apology, and was happy to let to go to the beach, as it wasn’t likely many teachers would give out homework on the first day of school. Your father on the side had been asking Charlie and Billy parenting advice, as Charlie had a daughter but Billy had Jacob who was closer to your age.
“Thanks again for inviting me to the beach with you.” You spoke to Bella as you had found her at the end of the day.
“You’re welcome.” An awkward smiled once again from her, a look you’ve noticed her have often, as you noted how awkward of a person Bella was. “How was your first day?”
“It was good, everyone was nice and helpful like you said, even made a few friends.” You smiled brightly smiled at her as you climbed into the passenger seat of her truck, as the goal for everyone was to meet at La Push right after school. Jessica planned on stopping and grabbing drinks and snacks for everyone.
“See, I told you.” She attempted to tease you, you still laughed to make her feel better. She was trying to make an effort in a conversation with you, so you didn’t want to be rude to her. “Maybe we’ll run into your crush while we’re at La Push.” She teased you once again, seeing the bubbly side of Jessica coming out at the moment, so you assumed she shared the last class of the day with her. And it would rub off soon, or that’s what you were assuming.
“He’s not my crush.” You tried to play it off, but the redness to your cheeks showed you were lying. Ever since Bella had brought it up to you, you couldn’t get it out of your head, and you had really started to believe her on the fact.
There had been a handful of times over the passed few weeks that you tied up the whole phone line for hours talking to Jacob on the phone, the action had caused you father to go out and get a phone for your room so you weren’t stuck in the living room. He also didn’t know how to feel when he couldn’t overhear the conversation you were having, feeling as he was invading in your privacy.
“Hmm.” Bella hummed teasingly, causing you to roll your eyes and turn to look out the window as she drove down the road. It was silent for a few minutes until Bella started the conversation again. “Have you thought any more about learning to drive? Charlie has mentioned about starting a driving course at the police station, learn the safety of the road and stuff.”
“Yeah, my dad has mentioned that to me when the idea had first came up. I think a part of me is terrified, I mean I don’t know how to drive or the first thing about it. Then I’ve always heard that driving in the winter is really dangerous, and everyone talking about how bad the winters here can get.”
“Snow tires are going to be your best friend. I will tell you that, I’m sure your dad will get them for you, depending on when you start to drive and when Jake finishes your car. He’s got some made skills, he’s the one that fixed up my truck when I had moved here and Charlie got it for me.”
Something about Bella that you noticed was how she referred to her father by his name and not referring to him as her dad. You were sure that she had known her dad for her whole life, even if she didn’t live with him for a long time. You had been referring to your father as dad, even for the very short time of knowing him. The first few days had been extremely awkward for the both of you, as you had barely talked at all. Thinking about it, you weren’t sure if you had referred to him as dad to his face. That definitely felt like a conversation that you wouldn’t be having and only bring back all the awkward tension from the beginning.

Summary: A life changing event has you moving across the country to live with a father you never met before and into a life you never expected. Pairing: Wolf Pack Member x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 3,484
Warnings: Mentions of death, mention of drugs
Growing up, your life never seemed to be easy, and the happy ending never seemed like it was something that would be at arm's length, let alone in eyesight. Father walked out when your mom when you were only a bay, and then she barley seemed to be there from that point. The woman was always in and out of the house, around long enough to collect the money from the state, surprisingly around when there would be surprise house visits, and the house looked cleaned and kept up, but that was because no one was around enough to make it seem like someone lived there. the older you got the easier as you learned to take care of yourself more, but that was also when you were able to pick up on the small things. The times that your mother was around, the men that would come in and out of the house at all times of the day, the random things that would be laying around the house. Something that caused your mom to hit you for touching it, bruises left on your ribs that were there for a few weeks. It was also as you got older, that you learned the small sticky trade of things, first it was small things like small items of food to help you get by. Then when it came to comments that girls would make towards you at school, it was items like makeup or hair care items. It was the small items you were able to sell on the streets to get money to buy clothes, as you found it harder to steal without getting caught.
When you were finally a teenager and found yourself in a good loop of things, when a bombshell was dropped on you. Coming home one day, you found the yard surrounded by red and blue flashing lights, and when a cart covered in black came wheeled out, your heart dropped to the pit of your stomach. Your scream echoing in your own ears was enough to grab the attention of some of the officers standing nearby. It was only when you had been calmed down that an officer was able to explain what had happened to you. Your mother along with two other males had passed away due to a drug overdose, and so far it was unknown what they had and hadn’t taken to cause the outcome. A week you were a ward of the state while they tracked down any family you might have, and not many foster families wanted a teenage girl with an unproven history of stealing. It was in that time they were able to track down your father, a man that you never met nor was ever told about, but because his name was written on a piece of paper, you were shipped off to the west coast of Forks, Washington.
It seemed like a cold twist of fate.
The plane ride was long, and terrifying as you didn’t even know how to drive a car yet, and this was your first time out of the tiny city you had called home. Your whole life was able to be packed up into two bags and a carry on, a small bag that had yet to leave your lap. It had the very few items that you had left to keep the memory of your mother alive, the small memories that seemed worth remembering. Drinks and food had been offered on the ride over, but each time you had turned them down, still having no appetite after everything that had happened. The car ride itself was awkward as you sat next to a man you never met before in your life, but now because of some DNA you were living in an unknown place. The radio played older rock, a few songs you were able to recognized, but you didn’t know many songs to begin with, just the ones you would hear in stores.
Clearing his throat, your father sent you a small glance before his eyes went back to the road. “My boss helped me pick some things out for your room, he has a daughter a few years older than you.” The comment was meant to break the tension, as the two of you were both in an unfamiliar situation. It was only days that the older male had learned about your existence and that he had a daughter, and the weight of how much he had missed. There was the worry of also what had happened, especially since he knew the deeper details of your mothers death. “I kept the receipts for things for the things you don’t like or what to exchange. Figured this weekend we could go to the hardware store, pick out some paint so you could paint your room.” You softly nodded your head, staring down at their lap, playing with the edge of the hoodie you were wearing.
“Thank you, I’m sure it’s fine.” It was a strange feeling, just the small details that you never had done before. The paint in your own room was smoked stained from the owner before you and your mother moved it. The blankets you used came from second hand stores, discounted deeper for the stains and rips in the fabric. They weren’t the best, but it at least kept you warm in the winter, enough away from frostbite. The heat was always too expensive to turn on unless the temperature dropped down in the negative double digits.
“I also got you a phone, it should be in the backseat, I already put a few numbers in it for you, I got my phone number and my desk phone at work for emergencies, I didn’t really know what else to do. The case worker said that you didn’t have one when I asked, so I thought it would be good to get you one.” You could hear as his fingers tapped against the wheel, the silence falling against, as you had not been up to keeping a conversation going. At the comment of the phone being in the back, you turned around to see a small box sitting in a bag, making it easy for you to grab it and pull it to you in the front. You had never had a phone before, it was something that you only seen other people use. The one in your hand was slightly different than the one you had seen before, you remembered your mom having a flip phone, a cheap one with the front screen cracked. This one was a single screen with a small keyboard under it, you remember seeing ads in the magazines, but never seen one in person before. “The lady who helped me said that a lot of teenagers were using this model now, it has unlimited minutes.” You bode your head at the information, not seeing why you would need the unlimited minutes, it wasn't like you had friends you would reach out to with life updates.
“Okay.” It was a simple answer, as you didn’t know how else to reply as you studied the device in your hands. Pushing a few buttons as you stared at the screen, learning how to use the simple things, where the contacts were, where the phone log was, how to type out a text message. The application of the phone felt easy enough, and you were sure you were only going to use it to call, if needed.
The conversation ended after that, finishing the ride to your new home in the silence of the background noise. The house you parked in front of was a simple two story, definitely different from the house you were coming from. The yard looked neat and clean, the bushes near the house were trimmed, it looked like someone cared. Getting out, your father had gone to the truck to pull out your bags as you still kept your carry on near you. Going inside the house itself, it looked lived in, even when it was clean, the house smelled of pine trees. Your eyes scanned around seeing the large living room off to the side as you walked in, a couch sat in the middle with a love seat off to the right and a recliner on the left. In front of that was a coffee table with a newspaper and a few fishing magazines, a large tv was against the wall. That was an item that you hadn’t had in your home before.
You followed your father around the house, him showing you to a few of the rooms, the kitchen and the bathroom off to the side of that, an office on the other side of the living room. The kitchen was fully stocked of room, as your father had gone to the store the day before to make sure there was anything there you might want. Upstairs there was the newly turned guest room into your room, many items still on a box to let you set up on your own. The master bedroom was at the end of the hall, and then there was another bathroom. “We can go to the store tomorrow , so you can get shampoo and all that stuff you might need. Sunday I thought we could go into Port Angeles to get some more clothes for you.” You nodded your head as you placed your bag on the desk that was in your room.
“I have plenty of clothes.” The comment came with a shake of head from your father. You were okay with the clothes that you had, you didn’t want him to have something to hold over your head like your mother did.
“I’m sure the outfits you have aren’t fit for the weather around here, you’ll definitely want a pair of rain boots and maybe a raincoat. The summers here aren’t the warmest, but the winters can get bad.” You nod your head again, as you knew the most clothes you had were for warmer weather, as your winter stuff had been sold for you don’t know what.
“I didn’t pack a winter coat.” It wasn’t like you ever had a real winter coat, those had been too expensive for you to buy after other things. Your father softly smiled at you, feeling a pain in his stomach.
“That’s alright, we can get you anything that you need, even a whole new wardrobe if you need it.” You wanted to smile but the pressure of what he could hold over your head weighed deeply on you. “I figured I’d give you a little bit to settle in and then we could go out for dinner, I’m sure you’re hungry after the flight, there’s a dinner nearby that has great food.” You nodded once again as you looked at the bags you had bought with you that sat on the edge of the bed and the box of room items for you.
The clothes you had definitely weren’t going to fit the weather, so you empty the box on your best to toss all clothes you didn’t want or the ones that were overtly worn. You had a second pair of shoes packed that had holes in the sides of them that ended up in the box as well. The box was quickly filled with things that just needed to be thrown away, and left more to be needed than starting with. Taking a break from that, you looked at the bed set that had been sitting at the headboard, it looked like a simple forest green color, it looked warm by the size of the bag. Placing away the clothes in the dresser across from the bed, you put the empty bags at the top of the closet. Once the bed was cleared off, it gave you the room to make the bed, taking all the trash and placing it in the trash can that was next to the desk. The larger trash items you put in the box with the old clothes.
Walking down the stairs, you could hear a baseball game playing in the background, only knowing that from the announcer saying it was a baseball game. Your father was sitting in the recliner, the newspaper in his hands, but the item was placed to the side when you came to join him in the room. Awkwardly, you sat on the far end of the couch, the game on the screen was forgotten when the volume had been muted. “I figured before we head out, we could go over the house rules.” Nodding her head, you remembered all the rules your mom had given you. “Since it’s summer time, I feel that ten is a good time for curfew. When school starts, I think nine would be a better time for school nights.” A curfew, that was definitely something that you never had before, there would be days you wouldn’t be home and no one would notice. “I also had been told about your record, whether it had been true or false, I will state I have a zero tolerance for breaking the law, seeing as I do work for the Forks Police. I feel there is a system we can come up with, set a few chores and give you money that way. We can have a list on the fridge of things you need or any food you may want. My boss also knows someone that works on vehicles, thought we could talk to him if there is any he has for sale.”
“I don’t know how to drive.” Your voice was soft, as it was something that never mattered before, but now you felt like you needed to know how to do, as most people around your age already knew how to drive and had their permit or license.
“That’s okay, I can teach you how to drive, it’s not that hard.” You nodded her head, playing with the hem of your sweatshirt again. “I feel like the rules I have are simple, you respect my space and I’ll respect yours.” You nodded your head again, watching as your father stood to his feet, grabbing his keys off the table in front of him. “Why don’t we head out for dinner before it gets too late, and we can get an early start tomorrow.” Right, you remembered, going to get paint for your room. The walls were a bare white at the moment, something that didn’t seem like that big of a deal.
The rest of the night went as expected, it was a quiet dinner, you got introduced to some of the local people that knew your father, details of your move were kept simple, change of scenery was the main one that was used as a reason. The drive back you got to learn a few buildings, the direction of the school, where the local library was, how to get to the police station. The town seemed like it was easy enough to get around, a bike would make those things easier for you, but that was something you weren’t going to bring up. The house was quiet once your father had gone to bed, the silence had fallen over like a thick fog, and trying to fall asleep in the unfamiliar place was hard. You tossed and turned all night long, only being woken up in the morning by a knock on your door, a pattern that followed for the next few days.
Painting your room took two days instead of the one, picking a soft gray as the main color and the picking a dark purple for the runners. You spent two nights on the couch to let the pain dry and air out completely before returning. The clothes shopping had been pushed off until Monday, but the coming day your father needed to return to work, offering the weight of being only for the first time. The day didn’t go by as hard as you expected, putting away your new clothes and organizing the other things you had picked up, including a small vanity to place next to your dresser, as you moved some of the furniture around. You had gotten a set of lights to hang around the headboard of your bed, giving you extra light if wanted when turned on. The room itself had started to feel more like a room, having more stuff in it than you ever had before, it felt like a home. Your father was also constantly checking in, calling you on his free time, stopping by with some lunch, something you were thankful for as you didn’t know how to cook much.
“Looks like it’s really coming together in here.” Your father’s voice gained your attention as you were placing a few picture frames on your dresser, his words caused you to softly smile to form on your face. With the time you had spent painting the room with him, having conversations seemed to be coming easier.
“Thank you, I think the rug you picked out really helps tie it all together.” The comment caused both of them to laugh.
“I invited my coworker and his daughter over for dinner, thought you might like making a friend, even if she is a few years older than you.” You nodded your head as you dusted your hands off on your jeans, as if there had been dust on them to begin with.
“Sounds like fun, might give me another contact to add to my phone.” You let out a nervous laugh, as making friends had never been something you were good at. At the beginning it had been because of your dirty clothes, or how you smelled, and your hair was unkempt. The older you got, those old details got carried with you, even if you had started to take care of yourself the best you could. Your father offered you a smile before heading to his own room to get changed out of his work uniform.
The dinner seemed to be going fine, the small group had sat in the dinner room to eat a simple meal of spaghetti and meatballs, garlic toast, and salad as a side. You could only define it as a family dinner out of a movie. The two males did most of the talking, carrying on conversations of different topics, nothing you were able to follow that well. Your father’s coworker, who you learned name was Charlie, would ask a few things about yourself, but you didn’t have many details to give. His daughter, Bella, seemed just as awkward as you, but you felt that it wasn’t the situation and her personality in general.
“Bella, if you’re still going out to La Push tomorrow, you should take Y/n with you. See if Jacob is around, I was telling Billy about a friend needing to buy a vehicle.” Bella nodded her head as she had been in the middle of taking a sip of her water before responding.
“I can text Jacob later to let him know, and I can give you Y/n my number so I can call you when I’m on my way. It gets a little chilly by the water, so I would bring a hoodie.” You nodded your head at her words, thinking deeply to yourself, you had never been to the ocean before, let alone a beach, but even from the few movies you had seen, you were sure this beach would be different than those, there was also the small fact that you didn’t know how to swim.
The men had talked longer into the night, watching a game on the tv. Bella had driven herself as she didn’t stick around long after dinner, she was meeting with someone named Edward, but didn’t give off much other than you. You tried to sit and watch the game for a while, but when unable to follow along, you turned into your room for the night. While out shopping the days before, you had picked up a few books, a journal, a sketch book, and some coloring pencils. It wasn’t much, but there were a few things to keep you occupied, and things you never got to have before. The person your mother was and the person your father was were like night and day, your father was clearly trying to make an effort. Clearly also trying to make up for not being around be getting you anything you showed interest in, for a book you read the back of to an eyeliner you were checking the price on. It was nice to feel like someone cared, it was a weird feeling, even if you still hadn’t opened up much in conversation, but at least you were giving more than four word replies.
