“Lexie, honey, I would love to hang out, with you, I really would, but I’m behind on my reading and my essay’s due in two days,” Matthew groans.
“You can do your reading tomorrow!” Alexa whines, even though she knows his answer won’t change.
Matt huffs in frustration, before wrapping his arms around her shoulders and pulling her in for a rib-crushing hug. She lets out an undignified yelp as her face is smushed against his chest. “I’m sorry. I promise to make it up to you,” he mumbles, nosing his face into her hair and pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
