“[At the Stand by Me 25th Reunion], there were five chairs set up for us in a semi circle. Our names were on pieces of paper so we knew where to sit. I was between Rob and Corey, and Jerry and Richard sat to Corey’s left. When we all sat down, Rob looked down the row of seats and softly said to me, ‘it feels like there should be an empty seat here for River’. […] When Rob said that to me, with such sadness in his eyes, it was like I’d been punched in the stomach by eighteen years of suppressed grief. I knew that if I tried to say anything, all I would do was cry, and I didn’t know if I’d be able to stop. I took a deep breath, swallowed hard, and nodded. ‘Yeah,’ I whispered”
When I first discovered River Phoenix. I was 12 years old when my mother first showed me Stand By Me —one of my absolute favourite movie of my childhood. I liked some actors from 80's era such as Corey Feldman,Johnny Depp and River Phoenix. I first researched River Phoenix when I was 13 after watching Stand By Me and became obsessed with that movie, after researching the actor i realize that River Phoenix passed away when he was only 23, I later watch My Own Private Idaho and Running on Empty when I was around 14 and I started doing research on him and found out about his death and watch interviews about him, to this day I still read and watch documentary about him. River Phoenix was my inspiration to start writing a song and wrote poems and short stories. Idk why but I feel so sad everytime i watch and remembered River. River Phoenix was a great and true person, and I wish God wouldn't have taken him so soon. I feel connected to River still to this day after being a fan of his for 5 years. i know that i wasn't born when he died and i know He was an angel
