Mary (2024)
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆
"Mary" on Netflix: A Modern and Provocative Perspective I just watched "Mary" on Netflix, and I have mixed feelings. The film offers a modern and humanized interpretation of the Virgin Mary, which I found interesting and provocative. It's not the typical religious representation we're used to. What I liked: * Noa Cohen's performance: I thought she did an excellent job bringing Mary to life. Her interpretation is emotional and convincing, and she manages to convey the complexity of her character. * The modern perspective: The film addresses relevant issues for today's society, such as female strength and the struggle against adversity. I liked that they presented Mary as a strong and resilient woman, not just a passive figure. * The production: The cinematography and soundtrack are very good. The film has a careful aesthetic and an immersive atmosphere. What didn't convince me: * The controversy: I understand that the film has generated controversy for its interpretation of some biblical passages. If you are a very religious person, some scenes may be uncomfortable for you. * Creative liberties: The film takes many creative liberties, which may not be to everyone's liking, especially those looking for a faithful representation of the Bible. * Criticism: It has received criticism from religious sectors that feel offended by the representation of the Virgin Mary. In summary: "Mary" is a film that invites reflection and debate. It is not a film for everyone, but if you are interested in seeing a different perspective on the story of the Virgin Mary, I recommend it. I assure you that it will not leave you indifferent.

Werewolves (2024)
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆
Werewolves: A Bite of Generic Horror with Glimpses of Originality
"Werewolves" presents itself as an intriguing mix of The Purge and classic werewolf horror, a premise that, at first glance, could create a fresh and exciting cinematic experience. However, the film falls short, offering an entertaining yet forgettable experience, weighed down by a predictable script and a lack of originality in its execution.
The Good: Special Effects and Palpable Tension
The film delivers on the technical side, particularly in terms of special effects. The werewolf transformations are visually striking and well-executed, making for a spectacle that largely justifies watching the movie. Additionally, the film successfully generates moments of tension and suspense, keeping viewers on edge in certain sequences.
The Bad: Lack of Originality and a Predictable Script
One of Werewolves' biggest flaws is its lack of originality. The movie doesn't bring anything new to the werewolf genre, merely borrowing elements from other films and falling into familiar genre clichés. The plot is predictable and underdeveloped, with shallow characters and situations we've seen countless times before. This makes the film feel generic and unmemorable.
Inconsistent Pacing and Weak Character Development
Another downside is the film's inconsistent pacing. While there are intense action moments that manage to hold the audience's interest, there are also slower, duller moments that drag the overall rhythm of the movie. Additionally, the character development is shallow, failing to explore their motivations or relationships, which prevents viewers from forming an emotional connection with them.
Conclusion: An Entertaining but Forgettable Film
Ultimately, Werewolves is an entertaining film that may appeal to fans of horror and werewolf movies, particularly those who don’t mind a lack of originality in the story. However, its failure to innovate, predictable script, and inconsistent pacing keep it from being a truly memorable film. It remains just another entry in the genre, without offering anything new or standing out among similar films.
If you're a werewolf movie fan looking for a fun watch, Werewolves could be a decent option. However, if you're looking for an original story with a deep script, you might be disappointed.

Gladiator II (2024)
Gladiator II: A Return to the Colosseum That Doesn't Achieve Greatness "Gladiator II" was one of the most anticipated films of the year, and while it has spectacular moments, in my opinion, it falls short compared to the original. The story is interesting and connects with the first film in an ingenious way, but it feels a bit predictable and doesn't manage to surprise me as I expected. The new characters aren't entirely convincing, and although Paul Mescal has charisma, he doesn't reach the intensity of Russell Crowe. The action scenes are impressive, with very well-choreographed battles in the Colosseum and top-notch special effects. However, at times, the action is overused and the development of the characters and the plot is somewhat neglected. Hans Zimmer's soundtrack is, as always, spectacular, and the setting of Rome is very well done. But overall, the film leaves me with a sense of déjà vu, as if I've already seen all this before. In short, "Gladiator II" is an entertaining and visually stunning film, but it fails to surpass its predecessor. I give it 3 stars because it fulfills its function of entertaining, but I expected more from such an ambitious sequel. The best: * The spectacular action scenes * Hans Zimmer's soundtrack * The setting of Rome The worst: * The predictable story * The underdeveloped characters * The lack of surprises

Arcadian (2024)
★★★★★★★★☆☆
"Arcadian," starring Nicholas Cage and directed by Benjamin Brewer, is a horror and survival movie that offers a tense atmosphere and moments of genuine suspense. The plot follows a father and his two twin children who attempt to survive a siege of ferocious creatures at their remote farm.
One of the strengths of "Arcadian" is Nicholas Cage's performance. While we have seen Cage in extravagant and exaggerated roles, in this film he shows a more moderate and contained performance, which fits well with the dark atmosphere of the story. The tension is effectively built, and there are scenes that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
However, the film is not perfect. Some elements of the plot may seem predictable, and while the creatures are original, their design and role in the story do not add much to the horror genre.
In summary, "Arcadian" is an interesting movie for fans of horror and Nicholas Cage followers. It is not an innovative masterpiece, but it offers enough suspense and solid performances to keep you interested. If you enjoy survival movies with a touch of horror, this could be a good option for you.

Twisters (2024)
Twisters is an exciting sequel that successfully captures the spirit of the original film while introducing fresh and entertaining elements. I particularly enjoyed how the plot combines the intensity of tornadoes with a focus on character development. Daisy Edgar-Jones, who plays Kate Cooper, delivers an outstanding performance. Her portrayal of a woman haunted by a tragic encounter with a storm, who must then confront her fears, adds significant emotional depth to the story. Daisy balances the personal drama with the action, making her character one of the strongest aspects of the film. It's truly a memorable performance.

The OctoGames (2022)
★★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
The octopus game: an insult
The Octopus Game is a movie that aims to be a parody of The Squid Game, but all it succeeds in doing is being absolutely bad. The film is a parade of clichés and absurdities that make it a tedious and forgettable spectacle.
The protagonists of the film are a group of desperate people who agree to participate in a deadly contest with the promise of winning a large sum of money. However, these characters are so one-dimensional that it is impossible to empathize with them. They are simply puppets that serve to advance the plot.
The film's direction is mediocre, and the cinematography is flat and without personality. The deadly games are unexciting and the violence is graphic and gratuitous.
Overall, The Octopus Game is a boring and disappointing film. It is an insult that is not worth seeing.
