Sorry for no update recently! Things have been kind of hectic recently but things should be back on track sooner or later. Pepper hopped up behind me earlier to watch the birds. She's my favorite wannabe sheepdog 馃挋

馃尰Gardening Update馃尰
My current setup! It started as just transplanting the tomatoes, bannana peppers, and squash due to a mildew problem (the place we bought them from overcrowded the plants and gave them constant overhead watering) and turned into me transplanting all plants that needed it and making an actual garden setup. The trelis' above the tomatoes were placeholders, they're set up properly rn.
Current Plants Growing
x1 Jalape帽o Pepper
x1 Bell Pepper
x5 Sweet Bannana Pepper
x2 Husky Cherry Red Tomato
x2 Big Beef Tomato
x2 Beefsteak Tomato
x1 Straightneck Squash
x1 Crookneck Squash
x10 Basil
x5-9 Yukon Gold Potato
x10 Green Bush Bean
x7 Black Eye Pea
x4 Lima Bean
x6 Gladiolas
x4 Sunflowers

Took a video of the girls before it got too late over here. Uploaded it to my Youtube channel! I'm going to try to upload short videos on there regularly and then more put together "vlog" type videos once my computer is repaired.

Jalape帽o Pepper
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My Jalape帽o Pepper has begun to produce! I found the first bloom on it today and it has more buds forming. I'm super stoked and I can't wait to harvest these peppers!
Bell Pepper
Tumblr media
My Bell Pepper has gotten much bigger BUT it keeps getting hurt by the bugs in the area. If anyone knows a way to repel bugs (mainky caterpilars) using regular household items that would be wonderful!
Sunflowers
Tumblr media
My Sunflowers are growing splendidly as well! They are taking the place of Garlic in what will now be the Sunflower-Lettuce-Carrot bed.
Gladiolas and Ranunculus
Tumblr media
All of my Gladiolas have sprouted! The will be transplanted by the end of next week. NONE of the 12 Ranunculus I've planted have sprouted yet. I'm gonna give them two more weeks before I consider giving up on them.
Lima Beans and Blackeye Peas
Tumblr media
My beans and peas are coming up like crazy! I planted these at the end of last week and they are just about ready for cups already. Can't wait to harvest and cook these bad boys up in the pressure cooker!
Yukon Gold Potatoes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My Potatoes are coming up super good! I need to transplant them into thier permanant bed ASAP to avoid damaging any potatoes they'll grow.

Two of my Gladiolas sprouted today so we are buying some soil to transplant them. I'm also going to start the Black Eyed Peas, Lima Beans, and Yukon Gold Potatoes today since I don't have much else to do while the sun is out in force (its a cool 83 with wind rn but when the direct sun hits it feels like its in the 90s easily).
That being said, I'm going to have the kids plant Beans and Peas with me so they can start learning how to garden. Lima Beans were the first thing I learned to grow and the kids have been REALLY wanting to work withme haha!
I'm still trying to get the two 30ft limbs cut up and out of the back yard. I called an arborist and it turns out the Campher Laurel they came from was just really old and fungus was growing at the base of branches so they'd fall off. We are going to take that whole tree down when we get the money and the virus begins to calm down (hopefull starting at the beginning of next year but that's wishful thinking).
In the meantime, it's a cycle of feeding, watering, clearing, cleaning, fixing, and planting that's keeping us busy during quarentine.

馃悿Coop Update!馃悿
Moved the coop to the back yard and the chicks and ducklings are loving it! They have some nice new grass to scratch in and explore. I added them after these photos but they now have two extra water bowls and an extra food bowl.
I have yet to move the duck pool into the backyard but that will be done later today.

馃尰Gardening Update馃尰
3/30/2020
LEFT PICTURE
-Jalape帽o Pepper
-Red and Yellow Celosia
-Bell Pepper
-Hyacinth Bulbs
My Jalape帽o pepper has been growing beutifully and has quadrupled in size! I put in a stick to help support it incase the wind gets a little strong.
The two red Celosia are mine while the yellow Celosia belonged to my Sister and her three kids. The yellow Celosia hadn't been taken care of in days so I started trying to revive them three days ago. Only one has successfully revived and the other three might be goners. They are being held upright by sticks, without them they would be completely on thier side.
My little Bell Pepper is doing so good I've transplanted it today! Now it has a bunch of more room to grow.
Finally pulled up my Hyacinths to freeze the bulbs. The pink Hyacinths were dead and gone for about two weeks and my yellow Hyacinth had begun to wilt a few days ago so it was time to pull them. I gave the Yellow Hyacinth's pot to my Bell Pepper and the Pink Hyacinth's pot to my new Gladiolas.
RIGHT PICTURE
-Gladiolas (mixed)
-Basil
-Sunflowers
-Ranunculus (mixed)
The Gladiolas are in the large pot. I planted 6 bulbs which is WAY too many for that pot but the purpose of this is just to start them. I'm limited on pots atm so I needed to conserve space. I've never grown Gladiolas before but I love how big a pretty they get!
I've FINALLY planted basil! I talked about growing some back in February but never got around to it. If I remember right this is Sweet Basil but I'll update this if I'm mistaken. Either way they're growing quite well and I'm excited to have many Basil plants to pick from! I love to use Basil while cooking so it will be nice to not have to buy any.
Sunflowers! My homestead's namesake and one of my Dad's favorite flowers (the other being black roses). They were in the yellow pot but have grown big enough to get thier own cups! There was five that sprouted but one seemed to wilt immediately after breaching the surface of the soil. I tried to give it more time in the pot but it just dried up. Theres really good soil in the pot so I'll try to find something to put in it. Threw some bricks around the cups because I learned the hard way they have NO structural integrety and get blown away very easily, hense why I only have one out of my original twelve Bell Peppers.
The impossible to pronounce and spell Ranunculus flowers are in the square pots bellow the table. I planted 12 in all with 6 in each pot. Same as the Gladiolas they'll be transplanted once they sprout.

Some pictures of the new kids from today! They're still weary around everyone but they love the older chicks so it evens out.
Forgot to update names!
馃悿Ruby (darker RIR)
馃悿Rose (lighter RIR)
馃悿Ash (lighter Blue Plymouth)
馃悿Cinder (darker Blue Plymouth)
We are waiting on the ducks to be older before picking names, so for now they are still The Ducklings.

Update: Pool For the Ducklings!
It's heating up here in Florida already hitting a whopping 93掳F (34掳C) daily temperature and it's barely April. We needed to get our duck s apool ASAP but it seemed everywhere was sold out since all the children are home for the Virus. However, my aunt had an old kiddie pool that was actually mine when I was little and let us take it for the ducklings!
While we were there I also snatched up a metal pail for later on and a small trash bin to put under my desk. Also managed to pick up some more potting soil so I will be updating the plant list today!
