We are at 2014 levels posting right now but my point is that white culture is a prison just as much as gender is. It’s all fucked and we’re all so focused on naming things properly to properly be able to tell our fancy friends and fancy online accounts when in reality if you just like engage with the real world you wouldn’t have to think so much. Like I went to social work school in 2014-16 like I have heard all of the people first arguments and the thing is. In order to actually and for real put people first you have to think of them before their situation. You can’t be like this person experiencing homelessness unless it’s strictly relevant to the convo and by that I mean unless you are a housing specialist it literally does not matter to you. I would never want someone to call me a person who gets too drunk or a girl who smokes too much weed or a worker who curses too much or whatever like be real you can just say my friend, she’s kinda wild. You can just say this lady I know when you’re talking about someone who doesn’t have a place to live. And like you would know that if you actually engage with anyone outside of your zone like I don’t know the living situation of almost all of my patrons but I definitely know who needs a little extra care. And that’s all that matters. Bc again I am not a housing specialist I am a librarian. So my job is to make sure they have computer access and also that I am considerate. And most of the people arguing about this are also not housing specialists! Like I understand that homelessness is a serious problem that we need to mitigate but like it’s fine if you call someone homeless and also it’s fine to just like be a normal person! Arguing over the semantics here is the same as calling people a womb haver or whatever like you just sound stupid and like you’ve never spoken to a woman before. Plz just meet people and be normal and also if you’re in that zone of like tech bro that has only ever spoken to other tech bros, plz plz just don’t speak publicly or privately ever again xoxoxoxox

It’s like. I was around white people for a weekend and they got me stressed about my hair being so short like oh you’re so pretty when are you gonna grow out your hair again?? And then I went back to the city and back to work and everyone keeps telling me how pretty I am and how cute my hair is and ya! I’ve always chopped it but I got comfortable with it short and curly by being mostly in black neighborhoods for years and like soo many conversations with black women about hair. like just a few days earlier even me and this lady were talking about how hard it is to trust a hairdresser and how much she loves having a shaved head and how much I love when her head is shaved lol and she literally was like who convinced you to go short and I was like oh no I just do this I can’t live with it in the way! And she was like oh it’s killer I love it and I literally have to be such a bitch just so that people stop hitting on me at work ya know like whatever but then I see white girls for two days and they’re like wow when are you growing your hair out. NEVER!! And it’s gross bc like they all had the same hair half way down their backs and it just seemed like so much to always manage and take care of and like. I shower and walk out the house. No product no styling nothing and like idk I’ve lived with boys most of my life and they never do anything to their hair so why should I??? I cut it all the time like it’s cute and I look good but I’m not putting daily effort into it that’s insane…. Im not using conditioner like don’t be crazy…im not spending money on my hair like that is literally ridiculous be real but then you see these girls and they have millions invested in their hair and like why? For what? And with the serious idea that it has to fit within this ideal? And the ideal is just like so boring. And then you look at soo many girls from every single age like at any time in history you see girls with short hair and you’re like she’s killing it she’s free she looks amazing so like why are you asking me to grow my hair out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m drunk right now but like the performance people dance around calling people homeless. Same as like any term. Like. I simply say “omg I saw my favorite lady last night” There’s no need to address her housing situation like it will kind of become clear once I tell you the story so there’s no need to disrespect or degrade her by like labeling her situation. Also you wouldn’t get it if I did tell you! That’s not who she is!! I invited her to my Halloween party from the Uber and she’s gonna come bc we are friends!!
This kid asked me last week like oh you work at the library what’s it like dealing with the homeless I was so disgusted I was like first of all they are my friends….
