“I wasn’t thinking that all,” He scratches the back of his head in an awkward gesture. “I just…I don’t want you to have the wrong idea about werewolves in general. I am lucky, so much so, that it’s hard to put into words. I mean, I’m probably the first generation of wolves that don’t have to fear public out lash and sometimes I forget that.” Orion sighs, “You don’t have to explain, like I said, I made it sound really nice. Because it is. For me, and I feel like that’s almost something I should be putting in big bold letters.”
Scout smiles in relief and takes a sip of her coffee. “Okay so besides the wolfness, what about everything else? I mean all of the magic stuff, what kind of things did you learn in school?”

He chuckles, “Don’t get too wrapped up in the picture I painted. There are downsides, learning control, learning to shift is always a bitch. You have to remember, I was born wolf. It was a lot easier of a transition for me and my siblings. We never had to go through half the shit, bitten-made ones do to be honest. Or even what other born-wolves do, because of how close are to my parents.” Orion takes another sip, he doesn’t normally explain this stuff, so it’s a process to put it into words. “Before my dad, there were no such things as an Alphas. Before him, becoming a wolf meant you could go insane or die with any shift. That can still happen now if one isn’t careful, if there’s no proper support. With him around, and my sisters too, it doesn’t happen as often…but I’ve heard stories.”
“I’m sorry I wasn’t like...asking you to change me if that how it came off.” Scout assures awkwardly. “I just meant that you’re lucky to have that is all. It sounds nice and sometimes I just sort of...actually nevermind that’s a whole explanation I don’t want to get into cause you’ll definitely think I’m insane. Basically I’m just trying to make sure you know I’m not some creepy werewolf fan girl.” She may not be a creepy fan girl, but she was officially the most awkward girl in all the land.

Orion eyes her, taking in the small details of her expression. Knowing that there is a deeper reason to her question but deciding on not picking at it. Some wounds are better left as they are. “….It’s…amazing.” He admits softly, “-and it’s more so, knowing how lucky I am to have any of if. I have a great family, I have a great pack, and there’s nothing better than being out in the wild as a wolf on the hunt with a full moon tugging at your blood and your siblings howling in the distance. Letting you know they are there no matter how far….” He takes a second before continuing, “-but it wasn’t always like that. The way things are…I know they are easy compared to what my parents had to go through. What they had to fight every step the way. Not just a war, but their own blood and monsters. Sometimes one in the same….I know I have it better than any wolf before because of them and that’s probably the reason we’re so close.”
“That sounds amazing.” Scout knows she can hide the jealousy in her voice or in her face when she looks up. “When I was little I used to pretend I was a wolf, that I had a pack and that I was loved no matter what I did. It’s nice to know that something so good does exist. That there were people willing to fight for it to make it better. It sounds like how I always pictured it.”

“We have cheerleaders too.” -Qudditch ones any how, “And weird mascots.” -who tended to be legit magical creatures she probably only knew from fairy tales. He keeps that to himself, no need to go down that road just yet. He takes a sip of his coffee and licks his lips, thinking. “I dunno.” Then chuckles, “I realize that’s a lackluster answer, but you’re going to have to be more specific in the question. It’s like if I asked what it’s like to be human? I’ve never known anything but being a wolf, my whole family are too, so it’s not strange to me.”
“What’s it like...” Scout looks down at the paper cup in her hand and swallows. “-always having family that’s there for you? Always being connected to something?”

Orion smirks, he knew exactly what books she was talking about. He had numerous younger sisters after all, and all of them had at one point gone through the phase. (Libby was the sole exception given that she was the eldest and also determined to live the romance novels with vampires.) “It’s a lot to take in, and honestly there’s a lot I don’t even know…I mean, I know about my kind and the modern world we live in, but there are histories and feuds and all sorts that I just…” He shrugs, “It’s just like the mortal world I guess, you get a bunch of facts thrown at you during school, but not all of it sticks.”
“Okay no, you so don’t get to compare it to regular school. Because you know what my school had? Cheerleaders and some weird kid who loved wearing the shark mascot costume at football games. The most exciting thing that happened was when someone tumbled down the mountain on a ski trip. But you had magic, like real magic and...and what’s the whole werewolf thing like?”

He hands it over before he enters, “Just regular with cream and sugar. I have a bit of a sweet tooth so if you don’t like it, I’ll take it.” Orion looks around her place, it’s nice, but obvious she just moved in. “So what do you need help with?”
“No way, it’s totally good like this and even if it wasn’t you couldn’t pry it from me anyway.” Following him in she shrugs. “Honestly I’m just still kind of wrapping my head around it. I mean actual magic and then on top of that werewolves and...I mean shit if you were shirtless all the time it would seem like one of those lame romance novels I totally didn’t read all through my awkward teen years...”

He follows the address, stopping by to grab donuts and coffee -he guesses at her order, something milky and sugary like his own- and knocks.
Opening the door with a smile, she smells coffee and lights up. “Bless your handsome soul. I still haven’t bought a coffee maker and I’m dying.” Scout steps aside gratefully to let him in.

Orion debates on his answer, of all things, he’s pretty sure he would be a terrible tour guide to anything. Still, it’s not in him to ignore someone he likes asking for help, and more so if it’s a pretty bad ass chick -he gets a tiny thrill at the idea of them fighting off another monster somewhere in the future- and promptly texts back. Tell me when and where, and I’ll do my best.
My townhouse, 20 minutes. She sends before then sending her address. Thankfully the place is big enough and also has space on the rooftop for any possible magical mishaps.

Scout had never intended to stay in the UK. But while she was healed now, she was...well she was still too curious about this new world. Of course Julius couldn’t exactly act as tour guide now, so she turned to someone else who she hoped would be willing. Sending a text to Orion, she keeps it short and to the point. Hey, would you be down to show me some weird magic shit?

He waves the paper in front of her. With the address and the approved email. Letting them know the apartment was open and the keys inside. Ready to move in. “Too late now, we know where you liiiiiiive.” He sing songs at her.
“If you weren’t so hot that would have been a lot scarier. Like some tinder date gone wrong bullshit.” She teases while grabbing the paper to look it over. It still seems insane, but she can’t deny she’s excited she didn’t have to spend the day apartment hunting.

“Your turn for a Greyback rite of passage, coming across my parents banging.” He tells her, “Gross yeah, but they are sort of….out of control. Why the hell do you think there’s so many of us? Most magical families only have like…three kids max. Mine double that in what, three years? There’s a reason we don’t get invited to things…”
“So basically what you’re saying is that I should avoid your house at all costs?” She summarizes with a mildly horrified chuckle. “Because seriously I’m not even a fan of internet porn, I don’t need to walk in on a live version.”

That brings a full round of laughter from him. Poor thing, doesn’t even realize. The black and white, blurred photos of his parents are literally the least scarring thing. Not when he’s seen the full in color, no-blur live-action. In the kitchen. Or the car. Or his sixth birthday bouncy castle. “I can’t wait till you it’s your turn…” He chuckles, slightly ominously with a wide smile.
“My turn for what...” She looks worried and concerned to an almost comical degree. “I’m starting to regret not running away when I had the chance.”

Orion gives a deep sigh, “Trust me. Impressive is not a word you want to use. Not when most of their photoshoots and candid captures have to all be blurred out or decorated with well placed black boxes…” He clicks something and somewhere in the room a printer kicks to life.
Her nose wrinkles,”That’s pretty fucking awkward. Maybe the wine articles are better. At least less scarring...”

“Messy. A bit violent, but,” Orion shrugs. He knows only of that second hand and isn’t sure what to make of it. “It’s history now, I suppose. There are probably books written about it…huh I guess I never put that together. That people would be writing about my parents.”
“People write about my parents.” Scout comments with a shrug. “Of course it’s uppity magazines and it’s about the vineyard and wine so it’s not even nearly as impressive.” She adds with a laugh.

“Hence my helpful footnotes.” He beams at her quickly before going back, “If it helps, it only recently got complicated.Again, you can sort of blame this family for that. The Delacroix’s too. Before us it was just magic folks on one side, big nasty monsters on the other and that’s it.”
“That sounds complicated too in it’s own way.” Scout notes looking around the office curiously. “I’m sure I’ll get the hang out it soon enough. Now that I’m staying around anyway. I’d rather not spend every conversation with a confused look on my face.”
