HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE Let’s say it’s 6.15pm and you’re going home (alone of course), after an unusually hard day on the job. You’re really tired, upset and frustrated. Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to drag out into your arm and up into your jaw. You are only about five miles from the hospital nearest your home. Unfortunately you don’t know if you’ll be able to make it that far. You have been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself..!! NOW HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE… Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can perhaps buy precious time to get themselves to a phone and dial 911. Rather than sharing another joke please contribute by broadcasting this which can save a person’s life! Be prepared and become part of the solution. Get your free next-of-kin notification card today. REVIEW 001: OLOGY BY GALLANT Gallant was an artist that never caught my attention, other than seeing his performances and interviews, from time to time. It wasn’t that he never intrigued me, but moreover the fact that I told myself that he was good, while the mentality of that prevented me to listen to his earlier work. But then, last night, I decided to listen to his debut album, called Ology. The album is Gallant’s attempt to learn more about himself, not as an artist, but as a person, whilst showing his artistry in the most vulnerable and candid form, possible. Did he succeed? Absolutely. Consisting of 16 songs, Ology doesn’t hesitate, nor does it boast. It presents the mind of an artist, determined to dig into himself and be educated on who he truly is. As he says in an interview with HungerTV: ❝ The whole album is about me trying to dig as deep as I really could and as a result, it felt like I had put myself up on a chopping board, ready for dissection. ❞ In basis, Ology is the study of Gallant, both as an artist to your ears, and as a person. And personally, that is the most amazing thing about musical art. This project is the most impressive sound of RnB that I have heard, in a long time. Gallant’s voice ranges from a soothing tenor to an emotionally impactful falsetto, to which many consider his signature vocal-style. Starting musically with the intimate confession that is ‘Talking to Myself,’ he starts off the project with his falsetto. The highlight of the album, ‘Weight In Gold,’ is probably one of the most beautiful songs I have heard in a while. His voice is passionate and emotional, as the production oozes creativity and smooth riffs provided by Stint. The upbeat yet somber ‘Miyazaki’ is such a hauntingly beautiful interlude, showing Gallant’s vulnerability and guilt so well, as his vocals almost flawlessly blend in with the production. The feature off of this project, Jhene Aiko on the track, ‘Skipping Stones,’ delivers well, too. The chemistry between the two on the song was tasteful and raw. I loved this song a lot. As the project reaches a close, one last song ends it off eerily, although moreover epic, and that’s ‘Chandra.’ The orchestral elements mixed with the lyrical material and voice of Gallant equal the most touching and emotional end to a project, as it segues to ‘Last’s’ glitchy, ambient, and abrupt finale. I really loved this. I didn’t expect to love it as much as I expected, but I really did love this project. Many of the songs hit so close to home for me, and I personally feel like it’s the most I’ve related and understood a project, in a while. There were many times I was surprised at the versatility of the sound, as well as Gallant’s vocal talent. Admittedly, I was speechless at the end, and literally couldn’t talk until now. This is such an amazing album. I can’t stress it enough. I just.. I can’t even explain in full detail, how much I enjoyed and related to this album. It’s a modern masterpiece. Rating: 10/10 Favorite Songs: Talking to Myself, Bourbon, Weight In Gold, Episode, Miyazaki, Percogesic, Skipping Stones, and Chandra. Least Favorites: None lmao
