Bug, There will never be the right words to express my gratitude and love. You made me a stronger person, a braver rider, and always reminded me to laugh through it all. You are truly a rare gem and I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to share these years with you. You worked harder than anyone I've ever met and had more quirks than I ever expected, but that's all part of what made you such an incredible horse and partner. RIP Laredo; Thank you for everything, I will love you forever.. (..and I hope wherever you are, you have your punching ball). ❤️

This weekend Laredo and I rode our way to being the USDF & CDS HOY Region 7 Grand Prix Champions !! He was amazing and I could not ask for anything more from him. I love him so much and can not thank him enough for this experience.
I owe this horse everything. He has changed my riding and my life and as many dragon and like nicknames he gets, he is truly perfect ! 😘 thank you Laredo, thank you Whitney for trusting me and giving me this opportunity, thank you Jane & Alison for being the most amazing people I could possibly have by my side, and thank you to my IronHorse family for their love & support! And endless thanks to my parents for supporting me in this crazy sport….

Some people may see our sport as outdated, but we're one of very few that actually has gender equality within the competition. "Equestrian sport is extremely unusual within competitive sport as it is not organized around any form of sex segregation at any level of competition: men and women compete against each other on equal terms at all times... Although equestrian sport developed from military origins and was thus dominated by men (i.e. military officers) in the early days of its development at the turn of the twentieth century, as soon as restrictions relaxed to include civilian competitors, men and women competed against each other. Women were first permitted to compete in Olympic dressage in 1952, in Olympic show jumpingin 1956 and in Olympic eventing in 1964, and from their first inclusion, men and women competed against each other. This makes equestrian sport highly unusual within modern sport which, as discussed above, remains firmly committed to sex segregation, regardless of the level of physical strength, speed or skill entailed... Whatever the reasons, equestrian sport represents a challenge to the dominant form of categorizing and organizing individuals within sport and may provide a challenge to the hegemony of gender binarism as a framework for competitive sport."

Here’s my story:
I found my obsession for horses at a young age. I would scream HELLO to our neighbors horse every time we'd drive to and home from school. My mother found a wonderful barn for me which became my second home for 12 years until I moved to college. Before that my parents bought me an Arab for my 10th birthday, and before I moved to college they purchased my trainers Dutch Warmblood, Jack. Jack taught me how to sit anything, and when I moved to my new barn in Los Angeles, I realized how invaluable those lessons were. I had to retire Jack within two years of bringing him to LA, but began my journey on new horses and an entirely new adventure of competing. I started off showing 3rd and 4th level on this large mare, the next year I was doing 1st and 2nd level, and the last two years I jumped to I2 and the Grand Prix on my friends’ "Fire Breathing Dragon." This horse, Laredo 183, had taught me more than I could ever imagine learning in my lifetime. I've learned patience and persistence in both the arena and on the ground, and embrace his quirks to build a strong relationship. He's taught me to be so courageous, reliable and strong because we need to be there for each other. I've learned to laugh a lot more when things don't work out as planned, which is a lot more than we'd like. And he's made me a better, more present rider that would never have experienced such quality without him.
