-Jhin is not the kind of person to seek a relationship, and if he must, it would have to be someone who could connect with him on an intellectual level...

-Someone who can keep his part-human consciousness alive, challenge him and inspire him, with his need to inspire others. And it's not because he needs it, it's because he had developed a fine taste for it after years of solidarity.

-After all, you need two to duet don’t you? If the cyborgs got his sights set on you, there would be no such thing as imperfection in his eyes as long as it does not stray too far off of his values.

- Jhin would not follow you to the end of the world if your ideals clash with his, he prefers to not commit to these kinds of things. He prefers a partnership, someone to co-create with. Dating Jhin would mean that he would show a lot of respect, with a mix of pride, instead of the traditional devotion.

-It would be impossible for you to not know that Jhin is a murderer for hire, maybe in the beginning you would fear him. And for Jhin, that's good, it keeps one person in check and the power dynamics play is perfect in his eyes.

-Over time Jhin comes to realize that maybe having you as a puppet was not that satisfying after all. Again, he's lonely, content but lonely. But now that he’s found a true company again, maybe he will give a little in return. See if it's any better.

-What you do offer after has him hooked. If you support his choices and act as a patron to the Virtuoso, consider him grateful. You take his art and expose it to the world? Great! International feedback? Consider him indebted.

-Even if you aren’t able to provide him with services like these, just appreciating his efforts go a long way. And he's content that someone finally understands who he is and what he vouches for.

-Again, dating him is more of a partnership than puppy love, but it does get better over time.

I would also like to add that as a dm personally, I wouldn’t LET my npcs roll anything more than a 5 because the chances of them pulling it off at all are already ridiculous and I want to see it happen.

The portal caravan scene was the most unapologetically D&D part of the movie imo

-the creative use of a magic item, not for it’s obvious and intended use

- each member of the party getting to do different parts from buying a painting to using wild shape

- the extreme convoluted nature of all the steps

- being extremely clever but still getting fucked up by bad execution(bad rolls)

-obvious holes in the plan like the guards clearly being able to see all of them working out just cause the other people are way to oblivious (when you get saved only cause an npc rolls a 5)

Made it way better because both cgi and puppets look fake, except puppets own it and you get over it easily, whereas cgi distracts you with how real-fake it looks.

Honestly one of my favorite parts of the D&D movie was just how often they used practical effects for the non-human races. Like we almost immediately get a dragonborn that's a Dinosaurs-level guy in suit with robot face, it's beautiful.

Bless the Dungeons and Dragons movie for having their male and female leads be best friends with zero romantic interest in each other. They're both attracted to the opposite sex and they're both unattached, and yet they don't have any interest in each other beyond being best friends who are practically siblings that raise a child together. Absolute giga-chad move from the writers.

As someone who works as a beautician, these people are zeroing in on things that from what I can see— just arent true. I could wax on about how everyones different and all that, but I feel it’s adjacent to the actual fact of theyre just delusional. Theyre wrong. Im looking over the pictures trying to see what theyre seeing and im getting nothing.

So, from somebody who hasnt made a habit of looking for peoples flaws (or what I think should be flaws) on the internet: Theyve dragged your self perception out of whats reasonable. The average person— somebody who you will see IN REAL LIFE— who is me in this instance, is more confused than angry.

When people ask me why I no longer post on my Instagram - the last two times I've posted myself, these are the kind of replies I've gotten.

The last selfie I've posted on there is from June of 2022. I barely even take photos anymore because I don't feel good about myself, and if I do take them I just delete them.

Because I feel repulsive. Disgusting. Ugly. Fat. Horrible. Undeserving of love.

i think eventually we're all just gonna have to come to terms with the fact that it's impossible to tell a story with any degree of subtlety or nuance without risking a portion of the audience taking the "wrong message", and that's ok. art isn't meant to be strictly a teaching tool, and if you're goal is just to convince people or critique an idea, just write an essay or a polemic

MY GOD SO I WAS FUCKING RIGHT HELL YEAH

Ok so for the longest time I was justing thinking about Taliesin randomly like “im excited woot also why does that name sound so familiar”

I went like a week before I finally googled it with the name that always came after it in my brain “taliesin jeffrey”

Like I always thought it was a game of throne’s character or something but no, its just a real dude which I would not have guessed because I barely watch any media that isn’t YouTube (poor moment)

STORY TIME! AKA the history behind the name "Taliesin".

So Skyrim was my first Elder Scrolls game, and my second character made was a High Elf. Before I learned more about the world and its Lore, this Altmer was named "Piper".

Fast forward years later, my partner introduces me to Critical Role Season 2. I instantly fall in love with Mollymauk, played by none other than Taliesin Jaffe. Who I learned later voiced many of my favorite video game characters, the most notable being Thancred Waters from Final Fantasy XIV.

Now while I was designing and writing for my updated Altmer, before deciding to mod him into a follower, I think to myself "Hey...Taliesin kind of sounds like a good name for an elven character"

So I do some research on naming conventions for the Altmer. Using these two sites as references:

So one thing I found out is that "Tal" and "Sin" are commonly used in the beginning of names. "Tal" used for Altmer names during the 2nd Era in Elder Scrolls online, while "Sin" appears in the 4th era, during Skyrim. Could an Altmer use two beginning names? Probably not...BUT then it occurred to me:

We have a Dunmer with an Argonian name, and there's a High Elf who changed her name to "Alchemy". So what if my new High Elf chose his name? Gave himself a new identity to protect himself from his less than ideal past?

"And what if he pieced together a new name?! Using named from his ancestors to make it? An ancestor with the name Tal, and another with Sin? Then he can form "Tal-ie-sin" as an alias!"

So anyways, that's how I bullshit my way to getting a semi-lore friendly reason to name him after Taliesin Jaffe.
