At the gate for my flight home from visiting friends and there's a woman here with a service Shiba Inu. No pics because he has a Do Not Disturb vest and taking pics of strangers is illegal but I need to stress how ON DUTY this animal is. Ears up. Eyes doing Lazer scans of everything. Examining everyone who passes within 10ft like a security guard. Ass planted on her feet. I have never seen a dog with such intense chivalric guardian energy before. He has tiny eyebrows and they are FURROWED with concentration.

I got hit by a train with a plot-bunny

At age 4, Petunia leaves Harry responsible for breakfast for his uncle, greasy bacon and fried eggs, but he was so small both on size and age that trying to avoid the food from burning, the whole thing fell in his face.

His skin was evt blemish-less but his eyes, his eyes would never be the same again with less than 10% vision.

A year later, Sirius finally gets enough strength tho morph into Padfoot and escape Azkaban. First thing he does is search for Harry, finding him blind, starving and deplorably neglected in a filthy cupboard under the stairs. He makes friend with the child that same day but by nightfall the Dursleys find a filthy mutt with the filthy blind welp and chase him out.

Sirius runs to Narcissa to ask for help to clear his name and Narcissa agrees after Sirius swears a debt of honour to her or her child.

Sirius keeps going back to Privet Drive no.4 despite the Dursley's efforts to get rid of him. But at least during months, they don't get their filthy hand on Harry, even stealing food once in a while for both of them.

Eventually Sirius is cleared from all charges and given his Lordship and accounts back, but his priority is getting Harry adopted to the House of Black.

The day that Sirius picks up Harry, he seeks to do it with legal participation, Amelia as well as aurors and muggle police find Harry in his pitiful cupboard and the Dursleys get shipped directly to hell prison.

Finally Harry is home and a tutor is hired to help him navigat his world. He gets:

1. Blaile lessons

2. A training wand that describes everything for him (thanks Mr. Ollivander!)

3. A guide dog in the shape and form of a Grim

Eventually Sirius is more dog than human, but that's ok, they have Moony to help take care of them both.

The day Harry boards the Hogwarts express he does it with Hedwig's cage under his arm, his brother by his side (Draco) and Padfoot, his guide dog that not even Dumbledore could deny him (Thanks Lucius and other school governors)

To say that his life at Hogwarts is so much different than if he had his sight or if Sirius hadn't escaped is to put it mildly.

Except second year, yeah second year when Harry goes to kill befriend a lonely 20m basilisk on his own because "Siriusly Paddy, I'm already blind, who else would help her and keep her company?"

Bullying? Well yes, at the veeeey beginning, when his magic was occupied to work out how to function on things Harry couldn't see, but you see, Harry had guardian dog privileges:

- A pair of twins that despite being blind Harry is the only one capable of differentiating them.

- A blond Slytherin prince he calls brother with a nasty tongue and evil strike.

- A vicious Luna with her uncle's cruel strike and her mother's brains.

- A ruthless Death Eater undercover (forever adoring him because Harry inadvertently freed him from the imperius curse, but really it is because he is reminded of a curly haired Black brother that he misses like mad)

- An eventually a boyfriend with very cuestionable morals when it is Harry's wellbeiny on the line: Theodore Nott

And never forget his very own Grim

Voldemort and Dumbledore never held a chance.

Now I need someone talented to turn this into a 600K fic

little rituals that make finding your soulmate more likely, like shaking hands with people as often as possible even with the cashier ringing up your groceries, repeating each other’s names after you’re introduced, etc

just give me alllll the soulmate aus ok, give me people finding each other in spite of complications, give me all the delightful plot twists, give me detailed worlds where this changes the norms, give me it working out in the end whether romantically or not, bonded or not

You know who can't opt out of Tumblr's new consent setting to have their work stolen and regurgitated into AI mulch? Dead people. Dead people like my friend, who passed away on the 18th of March last year, who would have spit flames at the idea of her work being abused in such a way.

Tumblr is stealing the creative work of the dead because it knows the only artists who'll allow their work to be mutilated in such a way are those that no longer have a voice.

And as a site that's been around more than a decade, I can only imagine how many are no longer with us, and Tumblr knows this.

It is one of the most ghoulish things I have ever seen.
