I know some of you have been sent home from schools, have been laid off from jobs due to the pandemic, are doing social distancing, and/or have been quarantined so there’s a lot more alone time, lack of routines, and huge amounts of stress. People may need some escapism to just deal.

So I’ll be posting ebooks that publishers are generously discounting, giving away, etc. due to the current pandemic. 

I’d normally put a long formatted list together but I honestly don’t have the heart so in pieces. I’ll add update posts when/if there’s more.

we were on the balcony, the sun was out as always and i said let’s do one together

you smiled. OK you said.

you scooted over on your butt and i laid the canvas between us.

i’ll go first, i said.

i swiped across the middle of the thing like i was trying to cut its throat

there was a thick blue scar

ok your turn i said.

you reached over, steadily, and put a neat vertical line down the side.

nice one! i said.

i made a zig zag and you went…ooo!

& i said, whoa! at your pink strand of cotton 

my turn and i maneuvered through the lines in a fluid course

you did a little shape between all of it and i went, ah!

and then i did a strange shape like yours

and then you did something inside the shape, and i went ahaaaa

(i was running out of noises to make)

and then i went.

and then you went.

and then i went.

and you said this is making me anxious it’s so messy

and i said, AH! but that’s the POINT! and i did a fat, wild BLOTCH across all our work.

you stared at it, and your face contorted, and then you looked up at me with it.  

i think this one is finished, i said, eh?

and you nodded with your disgusted face and you were right! what an ugly painting it was!

and what an ugly poem this is

and what a lovely memory to have tucked in between all the others
