So, this is going from bad to worse

What the law said (GRA 2004, EA 1010): trans people have changed their sex, and this is what is to be considered legally relevant

What the ruling said: trans women are excluded from the legal protections associated with being women; public and private bodies are thus not obliged to treat trans women as women

What the press and the EHRC heard: the law requires everyone to treat trans women as men

(indeed, the BBC article now even refers to us as "men who identify as women", which even the very transphobic BBC didn't do previously)

okay I've been biting my tongue on this one a bit but the odds of any money you give to a uk trans or especially LGBT charity reaching a single uk transfem is vanishingly unlikely. the primary "resource" these orgs provide is jobs for trans people who can make it in a professional environment, and the vast majority of trans hires are tme (and thus unaffected by the judgement!).

if you know a charity run by transfems take a punt but otherwise please donate to fundraisers instead.

url edited out bc they're a minor and i have no interest in being a dick to a child but I do not think admitting to and laughing about repeatedly assaulting a woman, on camera, is something that should be softened with "he's done some crazy stuff," nor do I think you can separate the art from the artist/separate "irl" from "kayfabe" about someone for whom this kind of behavior is how he got to the heights he sits at today. like the reprehensible behavior isn't incidental to the performance of the character, it's the mechanism by which he is able to perform the character at a high level of prestige
