it was rough year and many things have changed in my life but as regards art, i feel im a little bit in some kind of artblock like drawing has become harder for me...i hope it would be better in next year

i ADORE your art and wante d to ask how you overcome frustration/art block and stuff if u have in hte past....and how youi practice and improve and stuff because i'm highkey struggling

Interesting question anon! Please read the read more section as I will ramble away. This is a big, almost passionate, topic for me to talk about.

I personally believe my art block lasted from 2017-early 2022. Looking back, my depression was incredibly tough on me, and I drew everyday thinking it was a good coping mechanism, when in reality I relied on it so much that art became more of a chore than a passion. It felt like I was stuck drawing the same concepts, compositions, fanart, etc etc everyday.

It’s not that I wasn’t proud of the occasional piece during that time, I just struggled with finding motivation, inspiration, etc. I drew because I was stuck in a mindset of “all I know is how to draw, and I’m desperate to find joy in it again”.

And theeeeen spring of 2022 hit. I went camping and to powwows with my friend, I played Pathologic (a life changing experience for me), listened to all kinds of new and old favorite music, watched new movies and shows, became a furry, etc etc etc.

If you look at this post I made, it shows a lot of the inspiration I’ve found for my works now.

Maybe I’m biased, but, Pathologic was a great treat for me. The story depth, characters, world building; it drove me crazy and obsessed. I don’t really play video games, so, seeing what Pathologic accomplished inspired me with art, but also with video games in general. I’ve drawn so much art for it, and a lot of the time when I draw Pathologic, I’m also pulling inspiration from other sources;

I found freedom in the mindset of “I can make anything I want”. I embraced little moments of joy I found throughout the months; watching cartoons, listening to Disco music, even more furries hahahaah. Drawing animals helped me also learn things like texture, anatomy, shading, composition, etc.

All the while of taking new approaches with art, and drawing in different styles, rendering styles, linearts, etc etc, I discovered new things to implement into “my” style. Sometimes, it really is as simple as telling yourself “I hate drawing trees, and tutorials don’t make sense. Therefore, I will just curve the shit out of them” ⬇️

I recommend drawing WITH friends too. Watch how they approach art, and what their steps are. Some of my favorite pieces were from a time a friend and I would draw things together and talk about how we use art in our daily lives.

Watercolors and any other traditional medium I could use was a big help too. It taught me how to adapt with mistakes, and be more patient with art.

Find inspiration where ever you are, jokes from friends and family, movies, music, etc. Art inspiration may hit you suddenly when you least expect it. Not the most pleasing answer but, once it hits, it will hit hard. Trust me, hahahah. But sometimes when you’re inspired, and motivated, you will naturally improve. Keep drawing new styles, techniques, backgrounds, character designs, study your favorite artists and paintings, etc. Find out what makes you the happiest with art, and the rest will follow suit. I love people Being Mean to me in disco elysium. most people in the game all treat you with a realistic apprehension. they tolerate the things you say not because they like you but because you assumedly have a gun on you. the most unreletengly approving NPC, siileng, is just scared as fuck of you and also wants to make some cash. it pisses redditors off soo bad that npcs like liz and klaasje don't super care about kissing your feet and making your job easier but that's the whole point of Being A FuckUp Cop In a PostSov Neighborhood The Game. I like isobel cause she told me I sound like I was dropped on the head as a kid and that's how the grannies I know talk. I love cindy for forcing me to oink like a pig in the communist quest. Even titus's drawn out slutty beer walk animation (you know what I'm talking about) is growing on me. every interaction with the hardies is genuinely hilarious. also, idk how to word this but I like that the game doesn't fully rely on Bad Words to show who's a villain. the fascists you meet do say slurs, that is evil of them. cuno also says them every 5 minutes but every player ends up loving him. the most soulless and infuriating character is the diplomat in a black tie who only says inoffensive propaganda pamphlet words. you have to think with every character what their background is and why they would say that to *you*, because you are a very loaded presence no matter how you play. whatever

so basically i played a total of around 18 hours of disco elysium in just wednesday and thursday and as a result had this vivid dream in my delirium where harry actually was a big dick cop, like a massive dick cop, and upon seeing this titus hardie basically slobbered all over it then rode it and got fucked in a myriad of other positions and harry confiscated his dick (locked him in a chastity cage). after he went back to jamrock titus basically made all the other hardie boys fuck him and eventually had to seek measurehead because none of them were big enough. but get this, even he wasnt that big and titus rode him hard while talking about how a ham sandwich is more aryan where it matters or whatever

anyway it was insanely hot and when i woke up i immediately looked up titus hardie porn and found none what the fuck
