Oh my gosh somebody gets it 😭😭 arc was sooo weeeirrddd I found it disgusting the first time and I usually don’t even finish it when I rewatch it just can’t it’s SO GROSS AND WERIRD. And exactly I don’t like the fact that we were supposed to be sad (?) about the ending with the woman looking for Polnareff I just ugh heebie-jeebies all around

most conversation revolving around the alessi arc of stardust crusaders is just like “lol this is weird” and it gets memed so often but i feel like people overlook how genuinely horrifying it is.

i remember the first time i watched it it felt like an actual horror movie, i was TERRIFIED for baby polnareff.

spoilers + rambling below the cut (tw for mentions of child abuse/sexual abuse)

alessi almost instantly pulling a gun on a CHILD, shooting him several times, and polnareff BARELY pulling through with silver chariot.

alessi’s entire “picking on the weak” schtick and how he runs for the hills the moment another adult shows up is also very in line with real world pedophiles, even if alessi isn’t directly shown to be one, which is pretty scary in it’s own right.

also just the inherent horror of being a late-twenty something man trapped in the body of a seven year old, slowly losing all your memories that you made as an adult, and being unable to get help from a man that you definitely recognize but cant remember at all.

amnesia/memory loss is literally my number one fear, every time there’s any kind of amnesia plotline in jojo’s i get so uncomfortable (death 13, jailhouse lock arc in stone ocean, the entirety of jojolion 😭 pls stop with the amnesia plots they freak me out so bad)

and i see several people who ship polnareff and the lady who saved him, but my only thought during that scene was just pure disgust. having baby polnareff be preyed on by alessi, and then having him be preyed on in an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT WAY by an adult woman was awful. the scene is obviously sexualized by young polnareff because he is both an adult man and a child at the same time … but the fact that this adult woman is just allowing this young boy to grope her is crazy 😭 the fact that the show tries to make you ship them by having polnareff be sad about her not recognizing him is so odd too. this might be too woke but idk

i do think polnareff thinking “shes such an amazing woman…” afterwards and enjoying the whole thing with her could be read as people who have been sexually abused putting their abusers on some sort of pedestal (which i have done, so this is kinda projection). often when young boys have sexual encounters with older women its not taken as seriously as other sexual abuse cases because of the idea that they “enjoyed it”, which is exactly what happened in polnareff’s case. but i digress, that’s kinda a reach, and i dont think thats the message the show was trying to send with it. it’s how i choose to see it because it makes the whole situation make a lot more sense in my mind, but idk most people dont see it that way.

the first time i watched the episode i also thought that alessi was gonna have some ability to disguise himself has this pretty young woman and thats why she vanished and alessi appeared in her place … obviously not what actually happened but that thought was so scary and i remember that whole scene feeling soooo gross. her being turned into a fetus was also a pretty frightening way for it to go though

all in all the episode was so freaky and scary for me, i hate seeing children getting hurt and the fact that it was an entire 40 minutes of polnareff being preyed on was just soooo awful. i usually skip it in rewatches but i just rewatched it recently and all the visceral terror i felt the first time i watched it came riiight back.

baby jotaro was a fantastic payoff though so i cant really be all that mad. “HE COULD KICK ASS AS A KID!?!?!” of course he could its jotaro!!!

Alright, why isnt Josuyasu cannon? As someone who doesn't give an actual flying fuck about cannon, It actually boggles me how they aren't canonically together. Like WHAT DO YOU MEAN? Josuke always comforts his boyfriend every time he's upset and him to him.

Josuke first meets him and they fight, it was enemies to friends to lovers, ONE OF THE BEST TROPES. And all I wanna say is that they're gay. I see people shipping Rohan and Josuke, lemme tell y'all...ROHAN IS TWENTY YEARS OLD AND JOSUKE IS SIXTEEN. THAT IS AN ADULT AND A MINOR.

Just like Jotaro I've already cried over Josuyasu, and them separately. I haven't finished part four, but I already love them so much, IF OKUYASU DIES YOU'LL GET ANOTHER RANT FROM ME. now tell me why all JoJo's get a boyfriend, Jonathan and Speedwagon, Joseph and Caesar, Jotaro and Kakyoin, Josuke and Okuyasu, why must their boyfriends all die? Well idk about Okuyasu, but Jonathan does instead of Speedwagon..but still, wtf why is it always doomed. A little PSA but like minors are still minors in media- shipping them with an adult OR PARENT EVEN (??) is still making an environment around that entire thing and that’s not what you want. Like AT ALL. Minors are minors let’s leave it at that.

HOWEVER, it is okay to ship two minors together (as long as sexual acts aren’t your main focus) and it’s okay to have a character like Kakyoin and age him up to be in part 4 (+ be with a character like Jotaro) and stuff BECAUSE HE IS THE SAME AGE AS JOTARO AND WILL ALWAYS BE.

And then there are some ships that are BAD: Giomis, anything with Giorno (unless in AUs where is he grown as a mob boss) and an adult (Trish is also 15- so her too), Josuke and Rohan (GAG), and anything like that.

So yeah! Please keep in mind that minors are still minors and be safe with whatever ships you’re looking into
