Imagine being the last owner of Hanako, that 226 year old Japanese koi that was spawned in 1751 and died in 1977. A fish that outlived 7 emperors. A fish that survived the Second World War. And she dies in your care. I would never recover.

idk thinking about how sometimes you have to show up for people you aren't that close to, because sometimes you're just the person who's there. sometimes you invite a new friend to a party and end up having to sit with them through a panic attack. sometimes you run into an acquaintance on their worst day and they need to talk about what happened. sometimes someone is crying in a stairwell and you're the only one around to ask if they're okay. and none of this is "trauma dumping" or whatever the fuck it's just being there for people because you're the one in the room with them.

What are your opinions of non-poc/non-marginalized people creating a show/comic/story where the main character is poc/marginalized? I’ve seen a lot of mixed answers to this one on the internet and I just wanted to know your thoughts on it!
I think it's great! Generally I never want to discourage people from making their works more diverse
HOWEVER! Extra care should be taken and if it's a bigger project, having people on the crew that reflect the characters on screen is important! And it's important to listen to them. Craig of the Creek is a great example of this! Showran by two white guys but that crew was so diverse and their lead writer was black, along with several of the writers, directors and board artists. There are so many jokes and bits in that show that felt very authentic to the black experience
I think the only case I'd be more iffy about it is if the story centers the character's identity. Like a non-trans director tackling a trans identity centered story would make me worry about the story's authenticity. Not saying it can't be done but you can only write what you know y'know?
