When you all but become a hermit for art
Hello, fellow Tumblrs. It's been a while. I've been busy writing, though I think I'm looking for a break. I'm not writing as frequently as I used to. But quality over quantity is what they say.
I've been awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, which I'm very grateful for, but no way am I going all the way to Stockholm to share some silly speech. Not when I could be creating. I've pretty m,uch avoided any public appearances as I want to continue making and sharing stories for you all to see and learn and become even slightly more enlightened than before.
You'll probably see less and less of me as time goes on, but I'll never forget you guys for all the support. Now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever shown you my hometown. I was born and raised in Foxrock, Dublin County, and though I love living in France, there's always something special about having a childhood home to go back to.

SHE DID IT
Guys, she did it! The madlady went and got my first play produced and published! It's called Waiting for Godot, and going to be performed at Theatre de Babylone right here in Paris! Thank you so much Suzanne, you're honestly the best person to have ever stepped foot in my life.

1945, I return to Ireland, only to return to France and be rewarded with a medal
As the title says, I did return back to my home country where I did some volunteer work as an interpreter in military hospitals and the like. Winter comes, I come back to France and suddenly, I'm awarded the Croix de Guerre for my resistance work. Didn't think I'd be honored with such a medal. Mom look I got a medal!
(I know it's already 1952 but bare with me, I've been busy and forgot to post an update.)
Anyway, while I was working in agriculture and laying low and volunteering in Ireland, I've also been writing and even met my (soon to be) wife Suzanne. She's the one who actually helped me get a lot of my works published. Look this is her!

That Last Post Aged Horribly
Remember when I said that we'll be alright as long as the tensions didn't reach here? Well, it did. I mean, at least this part of France is still neutral in the war, but German occupation is growing here and it's only a matter of time. I decided to join the underground resistance group to help in the war effort.
EDIT: When I thought I haven't heard from my fellow resistance members, it turns out they've been captured by the Gestapo, so I'm going to go lie low for a while somewhere. Maybe go work on a farm somewhere that's not occupied.

Tried Teaching. Tried Travelling. Now I'm Gonna Try Settling Down
So a few years ago, in 1930, I decided to go back to Ireland, where I taught French for a few years at my alma mater. Only lasted four terms before I decided it wasn't for me, and in December the next year I wanted to go travelling again. Went all over from London, to France, to Germany, and to Italy. Now I'm back in Paris, France and ready to settle down, at least for now. It's 1937, how time sure does fly. I hear there are some tensions in the world but honestly, as long as it doesn't reach here, things should be okay.
On another note, I published a couple essays on James Joyce and Marcel Proust, who was a French novelist. Also published a journal volume titled More Pricks Than Kicks back in 1934, depicting the life of Dublin intellectual Belacqua Shuah.
Sorry, I couldn't find a way to center the image better. Look I even signed it!

I Just Met My New Mentor's "Not-Secretary"
I said I'll post stuff and then go off the radar for a year. Good job me. ANyway, so I'm in Paris (beautiful city by the way), and currently volunteering as an English reader at Ecole Normale Superieure.
You'll never guess who I met.
Actually, I put it in the title (major spoiler), so if you haven't caught onto who I'm talking about I don't know how you even got here in the first place. But I just met James Joyce today. For those who don't know, he's an Irish writer (like me) who exiled himself 2 years prior to my birth. He's the guy who wrote Ulysses. We got to talking, and I, being an aspiring author, died a little inside as he gave me advice on writing stories. I actually ended up joining his circle. Hopefully, no one mistakes me for his secretary LOL.
Look that's him down there.

Fresh Out of College and Ready to Tumbl
So. After four grueling years at Trinity College studying Romance languages (for those of you who don't know, that's French, Spanish, Italian, etc.), I finally graduate with a bachelor's. I don't know what I'm going to do with this degree but I know I'm going to travel. Why else would I have gotten a social media account? I'll log my adventures here also, so stay tuned.
P.S. I would have gotten a Twitter, but the character limit is frustrating as there are so many things to share and not enough space to share them. And no one wants to dig through long walls of threads. At least, I don't want to deal with having to calculate how much I can write before needing to make a new post to add to the ever-growing thread.
Anyway, here's a picture of my Alma Mater, for those who wish to know what it looks like.
