The thing is, this love did not start because of a simple attraction. It wasn't the 'You're hot/You look good, I like you' kind. It was that 'There's something different about her' that has made him have a crush on her since they were little. And it evolved into the kind of love that knows how to cherish and heal. Unknowingly, it was all Katniss ever needed after all the burden and damage that the odds have brought upon her. Her father's death and the Hunger Games destroyed her night and day, but Peeta became her safe haven, her healing space, her motivation to find peace no matter how hard- she was her one and only boy with the bread. 🍞🥖🌼🥺🤍

Yes, and she didn't even know it as soon as she should've. After being a hunter and warrior for so long, being able to truly feel things was not a privilege she could afford before. But with Peeta, she finally learned that she can love life and herself; giving hope as the dandelion in the spring. 🥖🍞🌼🤍

The boy with the bread. 🍞🥖🌼
“I fumble. I’m not as smooth with words as Peeta. And while I was talking, the idea of actually losing Peeta hit me again and I realized how much I don’t want him to die. And it’s not about the sponsors. And it’s not about what will happen back home. And it’s not that I don’t want to be alone. It’s him. I do not want to lose the boy with the bread.”

This was what she needed, not another hunter or warrior. 🌼🤍

'If Katniss hadn't gone into the Games, it is likely her and Gale would have been together. Peeta is the only person she could ever truly let in and love, and let him love her after being so damaged.'
Well said. 🥺 I'm not really good with words but you explained it how my heart wanted to. 🌼🤍 Very well said.
Why I love Peeta and Katniss
Because they are not star crossed lovers. They are a realistic couple. Not in a typical story ofcourse, but their love and relationship proves that our environment impacts who we are and what we become, and that sometimes we CHOOSE who we love because of the things we NEED from that person to make us be the best person we can be and be a partner in a life that we want to create.
If Katniss hadn’t gone into the Games, it is likely her and Gale would have been together. But that is not the path her life took. The Games changed her forever, and the person she is at the end of Mockingjay could never be with Gale. Peeta is the only person she could ever truly let in and love, and let him love her after being so damaged. They need eachother and understand eachother like no one else could. Their love is REAL.
