Everlasting love
being a princess means select people for you to fall in love with, but what if you love the man who’s sworn to protect you?
content: royal au + princess x bodyguard + fluff + kind of poetic (i hope so lmfao) + more fluff + established friendship + requited love + even more fluff + slight angst + fem!reader + kisses + slightly suggestive + jing yuan’s so incredibly desperately in love with you
word count: a little over 6k (this fic had no reason to be so long but it’s a fast read I promise!!)
this fic is very self indulgent so I wrote whatever I felt like so lots of stuff isn’t gonna make sense lol
—
It feels silly to do what you’re doing, hiking up a grassy hill while holding onto your dress so you don’t trip, all the while your white haired bodyguard is trailing silently behind you a few steps away. The grass was cut evenly and was muddy from the rain earlier this morning.
You weren’t actually allowed to go out but time to time, rules gets disobeyed by you and you do what you want to do. Although your bodyguard hesitated in stopping you when he saw you put on your walking boots. But who was he to say no? You were the princess of the kingdom after all and he is just a mere bodyguard assigned to guard your well-being. At all times.
The first time you saw him was through your window in your bedroom at night. You heard the horses neighing, the carriages stopping in their strides and distinct deep voices speaking. As curious as you were, you look down from your window and see the king’s guards in their uniform. A particular figure caught your attention with his interesting long white hair. Feeling as though he was being watched, he looks up and your eyes meet. Your eyes slightly widen in surprise when he sends you a smile your way. And you hastily hide yourself away from view.
The first time you met him, he had a gentle neutral expression on his pretty face. He was tall, had long strides when he walked, and he gently held your hand while kissing your knuckles when greeting you. When he spoke up and called you ‘your highness’, and introduced himself as Jing Yuan and your new bodyguard, you felt puzzled with the way your heart pounded against your chest. This was the first time you properly met the behemoth of a man in front of you. And all you wanted to do was leave. Bodyguards are tiresome and they’re on your beck and call every moment of the day without fail. It’s tiresome. Definitely why you felt puzzled because of your increased heartbeat.
Standing atop the hill, the wind was cold but you felt warm below your garments. You look behind you, sure to say jing yuan was behind you.
“It feels nice doesn’t it?” He was looking at you away from the scenery in front. He smiles gently and slightly nods. “It sure does, my lady.” He replies and you smile at him back.
“It is very nice actually, this is my favorite spot did you know?” You ask again while looking at the scenery, taking in the view with a smile on your face.
“It’s my first time hearing of it actually but I keep that in mind, princess.” You giggle at the name he called you.
“And it’s my first time hearing you call me something else aside from ‘my lady’” you retort, lightly mimicking jing yuan at how he says ‘my lady’.
You see his eyes slightly widen in surprise before he took steps in front of you with lowering his head.
“I apologize, my lady, i didn’t know I was out of line.” He hastily speaks up and you chuckle at that.
“It’s because you aren’t out of line, jing yuan.” You gently say before speaking up. “It’s quite nice to be called something else than my lady although it’s the title of my current status.” You lightly giggle at your own words as you kneel down to pluck a flower from the grass.
You see how it’s a pink bluebell, which surprises you because there aren't a lot of them on this hill. You were gonna speak up about it when you realized you were looking down at the flower too long, and also the fact that Jing yuan was quiet. You look up at him and see how he’s looking at you.
The look in his eyes was gentle, thoughtful and of something else that you can’t quite put a name on. And then he flashes you his usual gentle smile. “I keep that in mind as well.” He speaks up, before adding with a glint in his eyes. “Princess.” And you giggle at that which makes him smile even more. His smile has you momentarily glance at the pink bluebell before looking back at him. Your hearts pounding faster against your ribcage.
—
“Let’s go horseback riding today as activities, shall we?” You speak up at the dinner table, directing your words towards jing yuan. Your father is looking at you with a questionable face as if he couldn’t believe your words. Jing yuan was surprised himself but was better at hiding it.
“Surely you can take the carriage?” He asks and you shake your head while cutting into your food. “Take the carriage where? Horseback riding it is.” You say with a tone that your decision is final. You look up from your food at Jing yuan, who’s standing at a corner close to you. And when your eyes meets, you send him a big smile his way and he reacted with a slight smile as well along with a small bow to his head.
And here you are standing in front of a horse like it’s the first time you’re seeing the creature.
“Is everything alright, my lady?” You hear jing yuan’s familiar voice from behind you.
“I don’t know how to ride a horse.” You simply say and jing yuan turns quiet. You look behind you and see how he’s getting down from his own horse.
“A moment, please.” He says before walking away with his horse. Coming back a few moments later alone.
“It’s been decided I ride with you.” He simply says.
“On the same horse?” You ask.
“On the same horse.” He repeats finally.
And he helps you up on the saddle, your dress puffs up in front of you which you grin at because it simply looks so silly. And then you lightly squeal when you feel jing yuan hopping up on the saddle behind you. You feel his arms go around your body and your heart pounds faster. Your body feels hotter when you feel his firm chest pressed up against your back.
“Hold onto this tightly, princess.” He says by your ear and you turn loss of words and simply nod your head. His voice was soothingly deep and it almost sent your brain into shambles. You hold the reins and you feel warmer inside when you see how Jing yuan’s holding the reins as well along with you.
“It’s a bit cramped.” You blurt out and jing yuan chuckles. “Nothing to do about that now, is there?” At his words you chuckle before you squeal again when the horse starts walking.
“This surprised me.” You say after calming down. “Feels quite nice actually. You’re a good rider.” You add in.
“Been riding since I could walk.” He simply says and you giggle. “You merely jest, I’m sure I couldn’t even talk when I took my first steps.” And at that, jing yuan laughs and you decide you like the sound of it.
“Alright princess, wanna go a little faster?” He asks and you widen your eyes in excitement. “Who am I to say no? Of course I want to.” You chimed and jing yuan nudges the horse with his heels and the horse’s speed increases.
That makes you laugh in delight, at the speed and how good it makes you feel and excited. You look up at the sky, feeling the breeze on your face and breathe in the fresh air with your eyes closed, not realizing you leaned your head back against Jing Yuan’s shoulder.
“This feels so nice.” You say happily, opening your eyes and getting a closer view of Jing Yuan’s face. He quickly tilts his head to meet yours and your faces was inches apart.
“Eyes on the road, princess.” He announces, looking at you and you giggle. “You’re the one who’s controlling the reins of the horse.” And at that, he grins at you. “Touché.” He simply says, still grinning while looking away at you.
Only now did you properly process how close your faces were and how it made you feel. Nervous, curious, especially at things you shouldn’t feel curious about your own bodyguard. And also over the moon, because it also felt nice to have him this close in this proximity.
Little did you know the man himself felt the same. How he wishes to actually properly hold you. Infuriating how he could only put his arms around your frame to hold the reins, but not your body to his. His heart beats faster when you laugh at his jests, when you show him your pretty smiles, smiles he sleeps and wakes thinking of. How your eyes seem to glisten in happiness when he steps into your view. No matter what side of the bed he wakes up on, whatever emotions he’s feeling, as soon as he sees you his entire day is made for the better.
He feels satisfied and content at how your head is still on his shoulder and he signals the horse to slow down and the horse starts to walk calmly.
“I didn’t like you at the beginning.” He hears you speak up. He raises his brow but his hearts is racing and his minds jumping to conclusions.
“What do you mean by that, my lady?”
“I simply did not like you because you were a bodyguard. Mine especially. Didn’t like anyone being just steps away from me all the time, every moment of the day. It felt suffocating.” You admit to him, tilting your head to the side of his neck, Jing yuan swears he could feel your lips brushing his neck and it’s taking every restraint in him to not react and move.
“I see why you didn’t like me.”
“I do like you now.” At your simple bold words, his bloods rushed and his heart rates piqued. He unknowingly made the horse stop in its tracks hastily, which had you almost falling back on the ground before jing yuan caught you with his arm.
For the second time of the day, your faces are inches apart and your eyes are widened in surprise.
“I mean I do like you.” You repeat. And jing yuan eyes widens at your second confession. Or was it really a confession.
“Princess, I’m not sure I understand the meaning behind your words.” He sounds breathless. He watches how your lips open and closes, unsure of what to say.
“I didn’t mean it like that way.” You blurt out. “And of what way do you speak of?” He asks again.
“I’m not sure I can speak of what I actually mean, I’m so confused myself.” You tell him and he hears how your voice wavers. And I’m sure his eyes are as hectic as yours, looking all over each others face.
“I apologize, my lady.”
“Why do you always go back and forth between calling me ‘my lady’ and ‘princess’?”
You ask him. And now it’s his turn to be loss of words. “And stop apologizing when you haven’t done anything wrong.” You remark gently but sternly.
“I apologize. A force of habit, princess.”
“And there you go again.” You say and he smiles lightly.
“What can I say?”
“A force habit that as well?”
“You might be right.”
And you haven’t spoken of what transpired that day. Yet.
—
“I’m not interested in being wed to the prince, father.”
Your father, the king, sighs as he rubs his temples at your defying attitude. You merely send him an angry look his way and when your eyes meet jing yuan’s, you simply wanted to cry your heart out at the frustration you felt. Of being wed, to not have your own choice of who you want to marry and the feeling of your freedom slipping away, slowly by slowly.
“You are to simply get to know him, not to be wed.” Your father stated and you let out a dry chuckle.
“And at the end of the day, you’re gonna have me wed to a man I do not want nor love.” You retort back before walking away, ignoring your father calling for you. You continue to walk, knowing jing yuan is on your path behind you.
“My lady.” You hear him call for you when you arrive at the doors of your suite. You stand still and turn to look at him. “Yes?” You answer, pretending to look fine but failing miserably. You see how jing yuan’s eyes look dismayed at your apparent displeasure.
“Do you wanna go to your spot?” He asks and you feel a little of your displeasure slowly lift off your mind.
“I’d love to.”
The moment you arrived your favorite hill with jing yuan, your heart felt light and content. Emotions surges over you when you see pink bluebells once more. Why they grow on this hill, you have no idea but you’re not complaining.
“That flower is beautiful.” You hear jing yuan say and you look up at him with a smile. You pluck the pink bluebell and raise it in the air, placing the flower beside jing yuan’s head. You close one eye as if to observe him from a binocular.
“What are you doing?” Jing yuan chuckles at your antics.
“Just observing how beautiful the flower are, of course.” You say with a big smile and jing yuan feels his heart skip. He thought of the day he asked for the meaning of the flower from the royal gardener. And what you just did now, he feels his blood rush and lovely feelings come over him.
—
The day the prince from the neighbouring kingdom arrived, you detested him right away. He wasn’t kind to the servants, simply looking you up and down before showing you a pretend happy smile. You felt revulsion when he grabbed your hand to greet you with a kiss to your knuckles.
While he was doing that, you looked at jing yuan who was standing beside you and you simply did a face to show your annoyance. He merely replied with a smile before glancing at the prince and back at you, you took that as a signal to look away from jingyuan to the prince.
The days after that, every walk after breakfast and luncheon, you had to take it with the prince. You dreaded those walks every day and would rather have them with the wall of your bedroom, than with the prince who only seemed to be interested in himself.
On a sunny day, fortunately, the prince didn’t come along as he complained of an apparent headache. You were able to take a walk alone with Jing yuan.
While walking in front of you, you suddenly slowed down, making jing yuan bump into you from behind. You giggle when you hear him slightly gasp.
“Are you alright, princess?” He asks worriedly as if a slight bump to your body will damage you. You giggle again. “Couldn’t be more alright.” You answer and you see how his shoulder seems to relax.
“Take a walk beside me, will you? I quite missed our time alone.” You confess honestly and jing yuan’s face shows evident surprise at the sound of your words before he nods. “Always at your request, my princess.”
After walking for a quite a moment, you glance at the man beside you, whos silently holding onto his sword at his hip in his holster, face looking straight ahead of him, his hair fluttering along with the wind. You kept looking even if he turned to look at you. As he does that, you smile at him.
Jing yuan felt his body warm up at your smile and the way you were looking at him. He wished he could take this walk with you closer without a single distance, while holding your hands and not as your bodyguard but something more. But that is something he could only dream and think of.
“The other day, I was being honest.” He hears you speak up, still smiling but looking straight in front of you as you walked. “About liking you.” You softly add in. Jing Yuan holds his sword holster a tad too hard.
“I’m your bodyguard princess, I’m afraid we can’t be anything more.” He detests himself for saying that, but it’s only the truth. Even if the truth hurts. He sees you smiling sadly at the ground before looking up at him, widening your smile. But he knew it wasn’t genuine by how your eyes seemed to glisten in tears.
“Even so, I’m not saying I don’t feel the same way.” And now it was your turn to get surprised. And he sees how your eyes wavers in shock and dejection at the same time. Because as he mentioned before, you two can’t be anything more than a princess and her bodyguard.
“It’s frustrating.” You admit ruefully as you try not to let your tears fall. You smile sadly at him while holding back your tears. You see how Jing yuan steps closer to you, hesitating to make a move only to not do it. You were gonna speak up before you hear footsteps behind you, and there is the prince you don’t wanna marry.
You give the man you love one last smile before putting on a false happy front for the prince.
—
Ever since that day, everything felt normal but wasn’t the same.
Jing Yuan feels his heart ache each and every time he sees the prince from the neighbouring kingdom gets close to you, gets to stand next to you. His legs wants to walk and stand beside you, hands itches to touch you and his heart wants to be with you every moment of the day.
Today was a small ball your father hosted for only nearest relatives.
Your beauty is infinite and you’re indescribably pretty in your ball gown. And jing yuan couldn’t take his eyes off you at any moment. At some moment of when you were dancing with the prince, your eyes met and he sees you do a shy smile and he swear he felt his cheeks and body heat up.
You swear you saw jing yuan fidget in the spot he was standing at when you smiled at him. And your heart flutters at the thought of the effect you have on the man who’s sworn to protect your life.
The dance was over and you feel a presence behind you. Turning around as you let go off the prince, you see Jing Yuan.
“May I have the pleasure of your next dance, princess?” His voice was of a gentle tone, mellifluous to your ears. He gives you a soft smile as you nod your head. “You may.” You accept his offer with a mix of a shy and delighted tone. You don’t miss how the prince eyes the both of you. So you turn to look at him.
“I had a lovely dance, your highness.” You state smoothly and the prince does a slight bow. “As did I, princess.” He simply says before walking away, not before eyeing jing yuan down as if he was a threat to your presence.
The orchestra starts a new melody and you feel Jing Yuan’s hand on your waist and his other holding your hand. You place your unoccupied hand at his shoulder.
Your fingers touches the nape of his neck and you feel your body get pulled closer into his. You smile as you waltz the floor with him. Jing Yuan closes his eyes when he feels you softly massage his nape and you resisted in your entire body to not place your cheek on his sternum.
A moment into the waltz, you feel his hand at your waist slightly hold you tighter and you look up at him. Your eyes meet and his eyes were mesmerising. And you give out a subtle gasp when you feel his hand slip lower down your waist. You see the decisions from on jing yuan’s face and you wanted to stop him before he did what he did.
“Thank you for the dance, my lady. Have a lovely evening.” He shortly says before leaving you alone on the dance floor. Him leaving has you thinking you should look at your father and you did.
His face showed he knew it all.
—
That same night, jing yuan got to his suite and took his suit off. He loosens his bow tie and rolls up his sleeves. He looks around his room in frustration while gripping his hair. Frustrated at the fact he ruined your moment too early, he shouldn’t have touched you so intimately without your consent about it. He saw how your eyes looked frantic before he was about to excuse himself. And the way your expression fell when he did excuse himself. But something about the touch felt so right and for him. You felt right to him and with him.
Feeling like he needs to take a walk to settle down, he grabs his suit jacket and opens the door, almost walking into you.
When he sees you there hiding under a large mantle, your face hidden by the hood. Your eyes met him and jing yuan doesn’t waste a second to pull you into his room before anyone sees you.
“My lady, you shouldn’t be here.” He mentally hit himself for that statement. He just pulled you inside. “I know.” You simply say, pulling down your hood.
This close proximity with you has his mind and body in shambles. You’re alone with him in his bedroom. Alone. Whatever could happen and if it does, he won’t stop it. He won’t excuse himself again and leave tku dejected and disappointed.
“You should leave.” He says and you take a step forward.
“Would it be different between us if I were not a princess?” You ask softly, standing in front of him.
“No, not any closer. I beg you, have mercy on me.” He says while ignoring your question, almost begging and your heart aches.
“I apologize, I shouldn’t have crossed your boundaries.” His own heart aches at the tone of dejection in your voice.
You understand his reluctance to be close to you. Maybe you shouldn’t have decided to come here. You’re putting jing yuan in trouble if anyone saw you at his door. You wouldn’t be able to forgive yourself if something were to happen to him. You look behind him and see his window, there is a cup of water with pink bluebells resting in it. Your heart aches for him. You turn around and were facing the front door in jing yuan’s room and was about to pull the hood over your face, before your entire body gets turned around.
His hands holds your face, he looks at you momentarily before his lips presses down against your own. Your eyes welled up in tears. This felt right. Your arms wrap around his torso, gripping the back of his clothes and you feel his other hand trail down your spine before drawing your body closer to his.
Your breasts flattens against his chest and you wrap your arms around his torso tighter. Your lips move leisurely against each other. He pulls away slightly.
“I’d still follow you around even if you were not a princess. Because I wanted to, not because I’m your bodyguard on duty.” He confesses as he brushes his lips against your jaw, moving up to softly peck the tip of your nose. You hum in content at his kisses while your heart increases its beat at his words. At his answer to your question from before.
He leans in closer again, kissing you. An unhurried kiss, with wants and longings for you, as if the time of the world is in your palms.
Jing Yuan’s lips were soft and smooth against yours. Lips working leisurely against your lips before he angles his head to deepen the kiss. You feel him guide your hands around his neck before he holds your own, for more deeper kisses.
A sweet little noise leaves your mouth when you feel him swipe his tongue over your lips to stroke yours, as if your mouth is molded for him and his kisses. He softly strokes the pulse point below your jaw, the pace of the kiss is slow yet agonizing. You want more of this man.
You feel his hands lift off from your neck, trailing down your spine before gently grasping the back of your thighs through your mantle. As if reflexively, your legs circle around his waist when he lifts you off the ground, pinning you against his front door.
You’re breathless when he pulls away, so is he but he isn’t stopping anytime soon. He presses soft chaste kisses down your jaw, to your pulse point and throat while you go catch your breath.
It is when you feel him lick your shoulder blade that everything comes back to you. He continues to nibble having you softly moaning, before he bites down gently, leaving a slight mark.
“Jing yuan.” The way you call out his name so desperately and so beautifully, he knows you have his entire body and soul bewitched and in the grasp of your palm.
“I love you, I can’t imagine a day not seeing your beautiful smile and ever making you feel sad. I hate myself for it everytime I see you so dejected. When you're in pain, it hurts my heart.” He presses kisses on your throat desperately. You softly whine out his name.
“I love you dearly, my heart. Infinitely.”
—
You’ve been fidgeting the entire day, ever since you saw that there’s another soldier to guard you instead of jing yuan. You pace back and forth in your room before you decide to do something and find him.
Your first thought was to go to the royal court room, your father is usually in there. And when you get there, your fathers guard announces your arrival.
“Father, what happened to—“ you cut yourself off when you see your father looking down at jing yuan. Who was kneeling on one knee in front of your father. Your hearts racing in fear at the sight of man you love in such a vulnerable position in front of your father, the king.
“What is the meaning of this?” You hear your voice waver.
“Do you swear on what you said, son?” Son? Why is your father calling jing yuan that way? Your mind in tatters and you don’t know what to make off the scene in front of you.
“Yes sir, I do.” Jing Yuan answers as he bows his head. And the moment you see the king pull out his sword from his holster, your hearts a mess and you immediately run in front of jing yuan.
“What is the meaning of this?” You repeat your question, your tone belligerent and glaring at your father this time. You grip onto jing yuan from behind you with your left hand, while your other fist clenched by your right side.
“It is alright, my heart.” You hear jing yuan say from behind you, you look away and turn away from your father. “It is alright.” He repeats gently, his eyes are looking all over you with soft glint to them. You shake your head as you kneel in front of jing yuan, holding his face.
“I cant let him hurt you, you didn’t do anything wrong.” There’s tears forming in your eyes and you see jing yuan smile at you, before chuckling a little. He reaches his hands out and gently holds your face as well.
“He won’t hurt me, in fact you just interrupted something, my heart.” He slightly grins at you while stroking your cheeks with each of his thumb. There’s confusion evident on your face and when you look up at your father.
“You have indeed interrupted something, my sweet daughter.” Your father says, his tone has a lighthearted tone to it. You furrow your brows and your father laughs.
“If you don’t mind, please do step away.” He says and you hesitantly step away but not before you give a kiss on jing yuan’s lips. His eyes widens in surprise and when you look at your father again, he seems surprised too at your boldness.
“Don’t hurt him.” Your words are final. And your father seemed to understand it. “I’ve got no intention to do so.” He says before looking at jing yuan again.
“Jing Yuan, soldier of the king's guard. Do you swear to protect the kingdom in case of emergency and war?” Your fathers voice was booming. Your heart races faster when you hear Jing Yuan say he swear and your father taps his sword on his right shoulder. Jing Yuan swears once more at your fathers words and the next thing he says, you clutch the front of your dress and you see Jing Yuan smile as he looks down at the ground.
“And lastly, do you swear to love my daughter, princess of the kingdom, through life and death, every moment of your life?”
“I swear.” You don’t know what you feel aside from relief at the fact jing yuan is not hurt and the way your heart seemed to surge with love for him.
The moment the sword finishes tapping his shoulder, you hastily run up to jing yuan and he hastily holds you into his embrace, his arms tightly wrapped around your body and yours around his neck. He burrows his face in the crook of your neck as you grip onto his hair, as if he’s gonna disappear any moment.
“I love you.” You hear him say. “I can't see spending a single day without you beside me. You’ve seized my entire heart and soul in your bare hands and I wish to never get it back.” Tears fall from your eyes as you nod your head.
You pull away as you nod again, your face full with tears. “Only if you never give back mine.” You say as jing yuan bursts into a slight laughter. “At your request, my heart. I will never.” He voices and you giggle.
He sees your tear stricken but happy face, your lips shaped into your beautiful smile he thinks of every second of the day and you are beautiful. He feels his eyes water, his heart pounds against his chest at the thought of you protecting him when you thought he was in danger. The roles were reversed that moment and he can’t stop loving you. And when you press your lips against his, he feels fulfilled. Fulfilled having you in his arms, where you should be, and being the man you love.
You pull away slightly and he gently kisses your tears away from your face, your eyes closes in content and there’s a smile on your lips. He can’t believe he’s finally your and you’re his.
You place your cheek on jing yuan’s chest and make eye contact with your father. Who’s looking sadly at you two. You pull away from jing yuan and take your father in your arms.
“Thank you, father. You have no idea how happy I am for you to do this.” Your fathers arms wraps around your body. “That’s why I did it, because it makes you happy and that’s all I wanted for my daughter.” His words have you tearing up again.
“I’m having my king's guards after you if you ever hurt her.” Your father says nonchalantly and you swat his chest while he laughs. “I swear on my life I will never.” Jing yuan says with a grin to his face.
—
You flatten out the blanket on the grass on the hill when jing yuan lightly taps your nose, making you lightly giggle resulting in jing yuan flashing you a gentle smile.
“I have something for you.” He simply says and you sit up excitedly. “And it is?” You ask giddily, jing yuan smiles at your excitement in receiving gifts, grand or simple, you love it.
When he reveals your gift, his heart is racing a lot anticipating your reaction. He sees how your eyes widened in surprise, how you look back and forth between him and the gift.
It’s a flower crown made with only pink bluebells and it’s beautiful.
“I tried my best, although it isn’t the best sight to the eye I still hope you like it.” Jing yuan confesses shyly and you giggle. “I love it so much.” You say as you lean in to press a quick grateful kiss on his lips and he hums in content.
“May I, my princess?” He asks and you nod your head. He places the flower crown on your head and views you with gentle eyes.
“You are beautiful, my heart. Never seen anyone more beautiful than you.” He utters with a content sigh and you giggle. “You flatter me too much, my love.” You softly swat his chest and he chuckles.
He reaches his arms out and immediately envelopes you in a hug making you laugh at how quick he was to grab and hold you. He falls back on the blanket with you on top of him, his arms around your waist and your hands on his chest.
You lean down to peck his lips and Jing yuan meets your kiss halfway. When you begin to pull away he makes a discontented noise, and you smile when he lets out a content sound when your lips are on top of his again. You feel his hands trail up your spine to softly hold you by the neck as he softly deepens the kiss. You clutch his clothing on his chest.
After a few more kisses, you pull away to catch your breath and when you look down at Jing yuan below you, he is breathtaking as the sun rays caresses his skin, enhancing his golden eyes and the pink bluebells on the hill is swarming his head like a halo.
You feel his fingers brush the back of your thighs through your dress, tugging on the clothing, urging you to lay on top of him properly. Caging his body in between your thighs and when you do, a love struck smile crosses his face and he looks happy. He gently strokes your thigh and you smile at him.
You have no idea how in the world you started to fall in love with the man beneath you. Along the way from your first meeting, he caught your heart and you’re glad it was him.
“How did you end up in the royal court room with my father?” You ask curiously as jing yuan continues to stroke your thighs.
“He called for me into the royal court room and simply wanted to speak to me about you.” Jing yuan says and you roll your eyes teasingly. “Simply speak to you about me? Whatever for?” You ask again and you see how jing yuan is now hovering over you, caging you in with his thighs, his thighs brushing against your own.
“He found out after the ball and wanted clarification.” Jing yuan answers and you nod in understanding. Then you chuckle and you see how there’s confusion on Jing Yuan's face.
“I’d be lying if I said we were discreet that day.” You tell him and a smile is on his face, amusement dancing in his eyes. “We were the most discreet people showing our love for each other.” He delivers it lightheartedly in a sarcastic manner while brushing his nose against yours, making you giggle.
In actuality, jing yuan had a crush on you the moment he saw you from the window watching him from your bedroom. His heart pulled and developed into love for you. But he repressed them as best as he could because of the status of your current situation. Cupping a hand against your cheek, he leans down to meet you in a soft kiss, and he feels you smile into the kiss and he gently squeezes the back of your thigh with his other hand.
And then his hands were atop your hips. He pulls himself in closer against your body and deepens the kiss while squeezing your hips gently. There’s so much ardor and deep affection laced into the kiss, a heat spread across your face and body. Jing Yuan tastes just like the herbal tea he drank and honey cookies.
Suddenly feel a gentle breeze but it’s almost knocking your flower crown off your head and you hastily pull away, laughing as you hold onto your crown while jing yuan holds you by the hips, laughing along with you.
He sits up, bringing you with him and he lifts you up onto his lap by grasping your thighs. You are still holding onto your crown. “You will always have my body and soul, my heart.” He whispers languidly by your ear before pecking your mouth. You cozy yourself closer into jing yuan’s embrace, burying your face into his chest as a love struck smile flashes across your face at his lovely words.
“And you’ll always have mine, my love.”

in which: you overhear wriothesley calling your affection too much, so you respect his wishes and give him some space. yet, why does he not seem like it?
warnings: 5.6k words (why did it get so long), hurt/comfort, gn!reader and wriothesley are married, pet names, no spoilers but set in canon, misunderstandings and miscommunication af, slowburn??, you might tug your hair out at some parts lol sorry, fluff with angst but happy ending, it gets emotional.
a/n: okay this was definitely not my favourite piece, i was experimenting with writing styles and writing in an omnipresent pov... so sorry if it feels clunky at some bits. overall, i'm pretty happy! also sorry for not sticking to the original prompt
Perhaps today was a bad time, you think as you leave the Fortress of Meropide, anxiety churning in your stomach and doubt weighing on your mind. Despite Fontaine’s sunrays shining brightly upon you, you feel anything but warm.
What started as a visit to your husband with kind, wholesome intentions of delivering some lunch to him on your day off ended with a visit that left you riddled with questions. Coming at a time when he was in a meeting nearing its end, you didn’t even get the chance to speak to him, yet his words rattled around your head, replaying like a broken disc.
“How are you and your spouse?” A rich voice echoes from his office, door slightly ajar signifying that whatever discussion was happening within was coming to an end.
“Y/n and I? We’re amazing, thank you,” Wriothesley answers. “I’m always happiest whenever I’m with Y/n.”
The company, who you have realised is Monsieur Neuvillette, responds. “That’s good to hear.”
“Although, Y/n has been quite… affectionate recently, to the point that it’s borderlining too much-”
The conversation is drowned out by a ring of an alarm on Wriothesley’s desk and the atmosphere from his office suddenly grows in tension. The voice of the two men turn from relaxed to alarmed in a matter of seconds, and that is when you decide it is probably time to take your leave, lest you intrude on whatever emergency has happened.
Dropping the lunch you brought for Wriothesley at reception, even the receptionist was confused by how quick your visit was since they typically lasted for an hour- even longer since Wriothesley likes to push the amount of time he gets with you. They don’t question it, though, merely nodding in understanding when you tell them to drop it off for him on your behalf.
Has Wriothesley always thought of your affection as too much? If it was overwhelming him, why didn’t he tell you? And why Neuvillette, the Chief Justice of Fontaine, of all people? You understood the nature of their relationship- how they both tend to confine in each other with whatever they are troubled by, but why couldn’t your husband come to you about this directly? You made an oath on your wedding day to be fully honest with each other and to never hide anything. Where did that promise go?
Arriving home with a heavy heart, you immediately flop onto the couch, arm covering your eyes as tears sting the corners of your eyes. Perhaps it’s time you lessen your displays of physical affection before you drive the love of your life away.
Wriothesley, looking down at the contents of your boxed lunch, feels his heart warm in his chest at your display of care. How fortunate he is to have someone like you, he thinks before eating, satisfying his hungry stomach that has been aching for food since half an hour ago. He wonders why you didn’t see him personally and dropped it off instead, he would have liked to eat with you beside him.
Whatever the reason, he’ll make sure to drop by your favourite bakery to purchase some conch madeleines as a thank you.
When he returns home later in the evening, you’re asleep on the couch, curled up with only a book on your chest to protect you from the chilly air seeping into the house. Wriothesley quickly lays his coat over you, bookmarking the page you were at before retreating to change into more relaxing clothes. You still have not roused when he returns and as much as it pains him to disturb you, he doesn’t want you napping too late lest it disturbs your sleep schedule.
“Y/n?” He gently shakes you. Slowly, you come to wakefulness, eyes fluttering open as you gaze up at your husband.
“Wriothesley? You’re home?” You murmur, rubbing your eyes whilst slowly sitting up. “What time is it?”
“Nearing six in the evening.”
“Oh my! I didn’t mean to sleep that long! I’ll go get dinner ready, you should rest, you must have had a long day-”
Silencing you with a warm kiss to your forehead, you don’t melt into it like you usually would, his words from earlier slamming back into you like a brick. He doesn’t notice the way you tense, merely brushing your hair away from your forehead.
“Don’t worry about dinner, I’ll cook,” Wriothesley offers, grabbing something he left on the table behind him. “Have some madeleines I bought for you whilst you wait.”
He places a bag of the baked goods in your hands and you smile at him, lips chapped and eyes still drowsy, yet Wriothesley thinks you’re the most beautiful being to ever exist.
“Thank you,” you murmur.
“I’ll call you when dinner’s ready.” The dark-haired leaves you with another kiss to your temple before turning around to go into the kitchen. However, you stop him with a tug on his wrist which you drop almost immediately when he turns around, acting as if his skin was an open flame that licked you.
“Darling, you have a sticker on your arm.” You reach up to grab the piece of adhesive, ripping it off him in one smooth motion.
“Those melusines,” he murmurs, rolling his eyes with a hint of a smile tugging at his lips. For how much Wriothesley scolds them, he cannot bring himself to actually get mad at them, letting the little creatures play pranks instead of reprimanding them.
“I’m surprised they keep getting by you. Maybe you need to sharpen your instincts.”
“Quiet, you,” there’s no bite to his words.
“They put a little crab on you,” you giggle. “Must be going through an ocean-themed sticker book. You had a little shell on you yesterday.”
“I did? Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I find it funny.”
He sits down beside you, dinner momentarily forgotten. “Do you now?” The dark-haired murmurs. “Turns out my own spouse is against me also.”
“If it brings me amusement, why not let the melusines play their pranks a little longer?”
“You are an awful influence,” Wriothesley winds his arms around your torso, pushing you down into the pillows of the couch. There, you almost sink into him, lured by the warmth of his embrace, but the memory of what you overheard sinks into your gut like an icicle, and your smile fades.
You pat his shoulders in surrender. “Shouldn’t you be working on dinner, dear? It’s already quite late.” You pray he doesn’t notice the way you have suddenly altered the mood, drying the playful atmosphere.
If he does notice, he doesn’t comment on it, getting up with a groan before retreating into the kitchen.
── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
There’s a whistle from the doorway to your bedroom, low and appreciative, and the culprit is no one other than Wriothesley. He walks towards you, draping himself over your figure sat in front of the mirror. “Where are you going tonight?”
“Clorinde and I are going to dinner together,” you tell him nonchalantly, as if all of his weight wasn’t on your shoulders right now.
He pouts. “When will you be home?”
“Not too late, that’s for sure. We’re meeting at the other side of the Court of Fontaine, though.”
“An evening without my love, whatever shall I do?”
“You’ll live,” you smile before raising a necklace up to him. “Help me put this on?”
With a huff, he raises himself off your back and gently takes the jewellery from your hands, careful with the jewels that adorn it. His cold touch grazes against your exposed skin, sending shivers down your spine as he successfully clasps it together. When you meet his gaze in the mirror, it’s full of adoration and admiration, and you have to busy yourself with your hair lest it flusters you too much.
Standing up, you swiftly walk out of the bedroom and towards the front door. Wriothesley trails behind you without much thought. “I’ll get going now before I’m too late.”
“Do you need me to accompany you there?”
“It’s alright, thank you for offering.” Disappointment floods him like an ocean as he watches you put on your shoes. With one final fidget of your clothes, you deem yourself presentable and turn to him. “See you tonight, darling-”
“-Aren’t you forgetting something?”
“What?” Your eyes widen in alarm as you begin frantically patting yourself down. “I brought my wallet, keys? They’re here, what am I forgetting?”
Wriothesley pretends like your cluelessness doesn’t hurt more than it actually does. He taps his cheek. “A kiss.”
“Oh, of course. How could I be so careless?” you laugh, the corners of your eyes scrunching with delight. Wriothesley has a remark resting on the tip of his tongue but it quickly dies when you step forward, anchoring your hand on his chin before you press a kiss to his cheek; to both cheeks for good measure.
“Love you,” you murmur when parting.
The desire to keep you home is a burning one, and pleads of ‘stay’ threaten to spill from his mouth. There is nothing more he wants than to be in your arms, to cling to you until the weekend is over in the blink of an eye, but you are your own person, and no matter how needy he is, Wriothesley should not stand in the way of your fun.
“I love you more,” he sighs, holding open the front door for you. “Be back soon.”
“I’ll try. Bye dear!” You blow him a kiss before walking out of your garden.
He watches you leave with a heart heavy with longing, closing the front door once you’re out of sight and tries to sigh the feeling of emptiness away.
Later that night, Wriothesley greets you the second he hears the front door being unlocked, urgent strides allowing him to turn the corner just as you open the door, looking as pristine as you did when you left. There’s a small, tired smile on your face, but you look happy, blissful expression brightening when you see him.
“Hello, love,” you say, slipping your shoes off.
“Welcome back,” he says, embracing you with one, muscular arm whilst pulling you in for a kiss. Your hands unusually fly up to hold his shoulders and Wriothesley thinks he’s imagining the way you push him slightly, as if trying to get him out of your personal space. Yet your grasp on him was so tight, creating temporary divots in his skin that he doesn’t really know what you’re trying to do.
Why are you trying to push him away in the first place? The thought of you not wanting him near is upsetting enough to make him unknowingly tighten his grip around you, causing you to stumble into him from the momentum.
You look up at him, shocked whilst he gazes down at you with a storm of terror gathering in his eyes. For the first time since the two of you got married all those years ago, a rift forms.
── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
Whatever occurred that night isn’t a topic of conversation, ever. The two of you retreated to bed after a quick conversation of how your evenings were before devolving into other topics, like what the week ahead had in store, restaurants you two should visit sometime, new boutiques and bakeries you’ve been hoping to explore- little chats that hold more meaning as the days roll by.
During it all, there was an undeniable heaviness to the conversation that made it slightly uncomfortable. Wriothesley cannot remove the memory of how you tried to push him away and you cannot forget the shocked look in his eyes. The more you picture it, the guiltier you feel, heart sinking in your chest.
You thought that it was what Wriothesley wanted: more space from you, an opportunity to breathe without you overwhelming his space.
So why do you feel so bad about respecting his wishes?
“What a lovely view!” You exclaim excitedly, running toward a patch on the grass that sits a few metres away from a nearby beach, the sound of waves meeting shore a soothing lullaby and a testament to how calm the day is. The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and you’re out on a picnic with the love of your life.
“Here’s a nice spot to set up, what do you think, Wriothesley?” You ask.
“Sounds amazing, darling,” he responds, setting down the picnic basket when you’ve laid out the blanket. You sit down with an unglamorous huff, leaning back onto your hands to let the morning sun soak into your features.
Morning picnics were one of yours and Wriothesley’s favourite date ideas. The best time to be together was before the sun would rise to its highest peak, bearing hot sunrays that make everything uncomfortable for everyone. Fontaine’s sun is never merciful either, which is why the nation is perfect for diving and all other water-related activities, but when you are simply walking around, it becomes rather suffocating.
The Fortress of Meropide’s administrator takes a seat beside you and you indulge by resting your head on his shoulder, hoping that he isn’t uncomfortable under your touch. The dark-haired hasn’t shaken you off yet, so you keep resting against him.
“How did you discover this place?” You ask.
“Siora told me of it, said that a passenger on the aquabus was talking to her about it. She thought that it sounded like a delightful place to take you to,” he answers and you can’t help but smile, fiddling with your fingers.
Melusines and their wholesome ways. You’ll find a way to thank Siora later. “How kind of her and how fortunate for us.”
“I take it you like it here then?”
“I love it,” you tuck your legs closer to your chest and Wriothesley leans back on his arms as well, letting your hands rest beside each other as the sea continues to crash on the shore before you. There are seals resting nearby too, ships pass by here and there, and seagulls stop near the two of you before flying away, but the only thing that matters to Wriothesley is you leaning on his shoulder.
Sharing with him the breakfast sandwiches you packed, no words are exchanged, merely the sound of waves crashing against the shore occupy the tranquil silence. It’s not until a few minutes later that Wriothesley speaks.
“Will you be visiting me at the office today?” He asks.
You tear your gaze away from the horizon. “Perhaps. Do you want me to?”
“Would I really be asking if I didn’t?”
“Please, forego the sass, your grace,” you snort and he rolls his eyes, an affectionate smile pulling on his lips.
“Seriously though, I would like you to. You know how dreary and boring weekends at the prison get, would be much better having you there.”
“Are you trying to butter me up?”
“Is it working?”
“Maybe,” you mutter, grinning. “Would you like me to bring lunch with me or shall we go find a place to eat?”
“How about takeout? Hey wait, now that I think about it, why didn’t you stay the other day when you brought lunch for me? I would have much rather seen your pretty face than the receptionist’s.”
You ignore the butterflies blooming in your stomach because of his compliment. “An emergency happened just as I reached there. I didn’t want to be caught in the middle of it, so I left.”
Confusion shines in his eyes, his expression giving away the cogwork ticking in his brain as he tries to pinpoint what emergency you could be referring to. When the pieces click, his eyes widen a little. “I see. You did the right thing, my love,” he presses a kiss to your cheek.
“I’ll visit you today,” you whisper, toying with the hem of your clothes as you wait for his response.
“Amazing. I’m looking forward to it, then”
You stay true to your word, walking down the path you recognise like the back of your hand. The guards need not think twice about welcoming you in, guiding you straight in the direction of Wriothesley’s office.
Since being with him, you’ve grown less and less afraid of how daunting the Fortress can feel, adapting to the chill knowing that there is someone in there who will set himself ablaze to keep you warm. Yet, today you walk in with apprehension clasped around your ankles, threatening to pull you under with each step.
It’s ridiculous, you know Wriothesley would never turn you away or shun you, but the mind is the worst enemy and yours can’t stop replaying the conversation you overheard weeks ago. You know Wriothesley could open those heavy doors of his and greet you with something more grim than loving and cast you aside, and you have to hold your breath when the guards knock on your behalf.
Your heart skips a beat when they push open the doors, revealing your husband crouched over his desk, hands mussed in his hair to keep them out of his eyes. He looks up at you and the way a smile manifests on his features is akin to that of fire melting ice, fatigue dissipating as you step inside his office.
“Hello, dear,” you greet, tone soft and controlled, unlike the thrashing of your gut.
“Hi,” he stands up and takes great strides towards you. Naturally, you open your arms for him; unnaturally, you merely hug him instead of greeting him with a kiss. Wriothesley keeps you locked in his arms as he digs his nose into your neck and you feel the way his eyes flutter close against your skin.
“Long day?”
“Draining too,” he murmurs.
“Oh dear, we cannot have your grace tired, whatever shall we do!” You gasp overdramatically, clearly poking fun at him because you are perhaps one of the only people who could do so in this entire building.
The dark-haired accepts it and doesn’t bother to correct your use of formalities. Instead, he retracts his head out of your neck to look at you with hopeful eyes instead. “You could give me a kiss.”
“Did you do anything today to earn it?”
“I need to earn my kisses now?”
“You should shut up sometimes,” you murmur before placing your hands along his jaw, pulling him in for a gentle kiss. He smiles against you, biting back a quip when his hand comes to the base of your neck, holding you against him. You can tell he needed the proximity, judging by his little exhale and the way his shoulders slouch, so you let him take his time and ignore the nagging in your heart.
── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
Wriothesley is losing his mind. He has been since you left the Fortress of Meropide, and was left to freeze in the ache of your lack of affection. A goodbye kiss is customary between you two and when you didn’t give him one before leaving, it felt like a slap to the face. He would have much rather you just slapped him, actually, so what gives?
You’re not rejecting his advances, but you’re not explicitly initiating anything either. Does that mean he should back off, too? Did he do something to upset you, and if so, when? All this thinking and speculating is making him feel like a pathetic headless chicken who can’t even talk to his spouse-
“-Wait!” You exclaim, just as he was about to grab the knob to the front entrance and step out. Instead, Wriothesley turns around to be greeted by the sigh of you frantically scrambling to him, and his heart can’t help but come alive, silencing his thoughts.
Stopping to a slide before him, he can’t hold back a soft grin. Despite just wrangling out of the claws of sleep, you’re so breathtaking, delicate in the mornings when no one else is around but him. The dark-haired is grateful that only he is able to witness you like this, that you trust him with this vulnerable side of you.
You don’t meet his gaze, eyes pinned to his chest instead. “Your tie is crooked,” you murmur hands reaching out before he even gets a chance to look down. “Let me help you.”
How can he deny such a kind request of yours? You’re gentle with him, undoing his knot and weaving it together until it looks proper, but Wriothesley couldn’t care what his tie looks like. You could be making a total fool of him and he wouldn’t care, too entranced by your glow to tear his eyes away from you. There’s a little scrunch in your forehead as you concentrate, mouth slightly parted and you’re not oblivious to his gaze either, too familiar with the intensity of it to get shy.
Finally satisfied with your work, you let go, patting his shoulders and smoothing out any wrinkles in his garment. “There. All done.”
“Thank you, dear,” he murmurs.
Wriothesley is expecting a kiss from you, waits for the moment that you’ll rise onto your toes and place a peck on his lips to fill him with some energy for the day. He waits for the familiar feeling of your lips pressing against his, and waits for the rush of adrenaline that your touch always manages to ignite.
Except it never comes, and it hurts most to confess that some part of him preempted this. You step away from him without another word, or kiss, and his heart burns at your retraction, unease fluttering the lining of his stomach when you turn around to retreat into the living room. Wriothesley moves without thinking, a hand coming up to your waist to stop your steps as he forcefully pulls you back to him, capturing your lips in a searing kiss, one far more intense than the ones you usually give this early in the morning.
You notice the desperation that bleeds from him; a certain fervour uncharacteristic in situations of morning domesticity.
There’s a bright glimmer of surprise in your eyes when he pulls away, as if he had kissed away all your fatigue and shocked wakefulness into you.
“Have a good day at work,” you murmur, barely able to choke the words out.
“I will,” he replies, opening the door. You stay and watch him go, still trying to recover your breath over his passionate display of affection.
── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
The day his racing thoughts get to him is the eighth day of this strange treatment of yours. At this point, he’s become insatiable, barely able to hold it together as you remain in the centre of his world. He wants your affection again, he wants your displays of love, he wants you near him so badly that it’s driving him up the walls of the Fortress.
It’s irrational for him, a grown man, to skirt around his problems as if he was a teenager. For some reason, Wriothesley has no issue locking up and containing some of Fontaine’s most dangerous criminals, yet when it comes to you, he becomes a lovesick fool who craves everything his partner can give.
You still are not initiating any displays of affection, keeping to yourself unless it is him acting first.
But after being locked in his own study for hours, unable to distract himself from you when he was really meant to be reading some new court documents from Neuvillette, he snaps. Pushing his chair out with more force than necessary, he searches for you in the living room, where you are curled up in the corner, reading.
“Is everything alright?” Wriothesley’s interruption shocks you, and you jolt your head up to meet his gaze.
You are met with the sight of him leaned against the wall, muscular arms crossed over his chest. “Why wouldn’t they be?” You ask, not letting your gaze linger for too long on his arms before sitting up just a little straighter.
“Dunno. Just double checking.”
“Okay,” you hum softly, nodding. “Are you alright?”
“Me?” How could you switch this up on him so quickly?
“Yeah.”
“Fine, amazing, just dandy.”
You raise an eyebrow at your husband, not truly believing him but you decide it’s best not to press on. “Alright… but if anything is wrong, don’t be afraid to tell me.” You go back to your book and your hair falls perfectly in front of your face to hide it from him.
Wriothesley shifts his weight from one leg to the other, trying to find the words to speak up and ask why you were acting so weird. It’d been two hours and twenty-four minutes (and counting) since you last saw him when he disappeared into his study, were you not concerned for him in the slightest? Sure you dropped off a plate of fruit and refilled his teapot with hot water, but normally your check-ins would be a little more frequent, and a little more encouraging than just a morale boost through food.
Where was the cheek kiss you always gave him before you left?
Deciding not to press on any further, your husband sighs before leaving, his arms and heart feeling emptier than usual. You are only in the next room, but why do you feel like you’re on the other side of Teyvat?
── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ──
The day Wriothesley snaps is the day Sigewinne asks him to be nicer to the guards of the Fortress because his foul mood is darkening the already glum prison. His subordinates must have sent her knowing that he couldn’t possibly lash out at her, and they were right, but she really didn’t need to comment on the way his veins have been more prominent recently, or how creases are forming on his forehead from how hard he’s been scowling. To top it off, she said that he should delay the appearance of wrinkles for as long as necessary, because there’s a good chance they’ll come earlier than he wants.
He’s not even a day over thirty, and yet, he is being reprimanded for ‘ageing’. But he knows the problem, and he’ll be damned if he lets it drag out for another day.
“Welcome home, baby-” your greeting is cut off unceremoniously by your husband, who practically drags you into his embrace, closing you in with no space for you to breathe or move. Your cries of alarm are muffled against his chest, and he easily picks you up before striding the path to your shared bedroom. There, he all but throws you onto the bed, your neck resting on the pillows as he climbs on after you. “Wriothesley?”
He shushes you.
“What-”
“-I need this,” he wraps around you like a vine and breathes you in with the fervour of a man starved.
When you try to shuffle away from under him, or at the very least sit up, Wriothesley groans, borderlining a growl as he tightens his arms around your middle. You don’t question or disobey his wants, merely sinking your head into the pillows in understanding that he must have had a particularly rough day.
So instead of repelling his touch, you give in and let a hand snake up to his hair, playing with it as you let Wriothesley lay atop you. Slowly, the tension in his shoulders melts away, and the way you’re scratching his scalp is enticing him to rest, except there is a barrier keeping him from reaching a haven of dreams and he won’t rest peacefully until he’s broken through it.
“Why have you been so distant lately?” He garbles, voice a lot shakier from the usual stoic Wriothesley that you are used to.
You heard him loud and clear, but a pathetic ‘pardon?’ slips past your lips.
“I said, why have you been so distant lately?” This time, he’s firm, determination seeping into his tone as a hand of his sneaks out from underneath you to search for your hand. After patting around, he finds it and holds it gently, raising it to press a long kiss to your knuckles.
It’s silent. You don’t have anything to say in response and it’s past the grace period where you can give an excuse and make it sound like the truth, and Wriothesley looks up at you with expectant eyes. There’s hurt in them but as much as you’d like to mend the heartbroken expression of his, admitting the truth is difficult, because it has eaten you alive, gnawing at your heart for days on end.
“I…I don’t have it in me to tell you,” you murmur quietly, looking away and slipping your hand out of his, but Wriothesley is tired of this dance of yours and chases after your touch, this time roughly grasping your wrists. Not enough to hurt, but enough to keep you rooted.
“I didn’t do anything, did I?” He asks, raising your hand to his cheek.
Your voice is quiet when you confess. “If I said you didn’t, I’d be lying.”
The dark-haired stiffens. “What?”
“Nothing,” you cough.
“No, Y/n, be honest with me here.”
“You’re going to laugh at me, or find me ridiculous.” Wriothesley’s heart clenches at your admittance, frowning at the fractures of insecurity piercing you like glass, but most of all, he hates that he can’t stop you from feeling this way. “I thought what I did was what you wanted.”
“Which was?”
“Some distance, just- not me crowding your personal space all the time.”
“Why would I ever want that?”
“I can get overbearing sometimes, and I don’t know, just assumed that would annoy you.”
“You’re not telling me everything, I can tell something happened to make you feel this way. Please, darling, just tell me the truth. I promise you I won’t judge or think differently of you.”
You sigh. “I… I overheard you and Monsieur Neuvillette the other day- when I dropped off lunch. You said that my affection was sometimes too much, and that I was making you uncomfortable, so I thought that you wouldn’t want me to be around you anymore. I didn’t want to drive you away so I, y’know…”
Confusion fills him stomach like water and it takes a few moments before it hits him, the memory coming back to him. You heard his conversation out of context- he wasn’t complaining about you, no, quite the opposite, but it just seems that you weren’t there for the parts that mattered most, and now you can’t even bear to look him in the eye.
“Honey, please look at me,” his voice thins into a vulnerable whisper that pleads for you to glance his way so you can see how he is head over heels in love with you.
When your gaze finally meets his, he almost cracks under the weight of your sadness, and it dawns upon him that you can’t feel the adoration he holds for you, dripping from his heart into your hands. You can’t see the mountains he’d overcome just to end the day resting in your arms. You don’t know the extent he would go just to win your love.
It’s a fact that kicks at his knees, shuns him down and bruises his heart. If the Fortress of Meropide has taught him anything, it’s that there is no point holding your feelings back from living fully. There is no point to contain the human heart that has every desire to live with others, he has seen the sorrow of prisoners saying goodbye to loved ones, and how they dwell over words they should have said. Even his own time as a prisoner taught him so, because everytime he sat behind those bars, the faces of people he should have been more open to kept him awake at night.
Wriothesley would rather drown in primordial water than see you, the most important person in his life, hurting over his own negligence. You have been feeling half-loved because of him and he doesn’t know how he can make it up to you.
“You misunderstand. I wasn’t talking about you negatively, I was talking to Neuvillette about how loved you made me feel that way, and how grateful I am to have someone like you as my partner,” he confesses earnestly, eyes pleading for you to believe him.
You blink at him, comprehending his words carefully. “Really?” You ask.
“I would never think otherwise,” he whispers.
As if a weight was lifted from your shoulders, a smile pulls at your lips and suddenly, a laugh spills from them, causing your expression to scrunch up with joy, looking the most lively Wriothesley has seen you in a while. He laughs with you too, just a little.
“I’m sorry,” you confess through dying fits of laughter. “I shouldn’t have assumed like that, how stupid.”
He shakes his head, “you have nothing to apologise for, you’re not at fault. But I beg you, never hide things like this from me again and tell me whenever something bothers you.”
You nod, “I will.”
“Promise.”
“I promise.”
“Never ever think that I want to be away from you,” Wriothesley grumbles, hiding himself in the crook of your neck. “That was the worst week of my life.”
“Sorry for putting you through all that.”
“Stop apologising.” He demands. “Just, no more secrets.”
“I love you, Wriothesley.”
He sighs shakily, relief tangible in his tone. “I love you more.”
A damp patch forms on your collar bone right where his tears would fall, and you place a kiss on his forehead for each drop you feel on your skin. There is still much to discuss, much to mend between the two of you, but his hands run along your skin like he’s trying to memorise and mark you, so you never doubt his devotion again.
*sighs and puts hands on hips* i don't really like that ending either so don't judge lol

"Please let me be there for you ♡ "
~ Diluc x fem! Reader
Angst to comfort. Reader having flashbacks. Insecure, secretive reader. Reader is Diluc's wife. Spoilers for Diluc's story. Arguing. Fluff in the end. (Tell me if I'm missing anything.)
It was just another cold night, really. Nothing too special. The Winery was much less busy as darkness slowly falls in, filling the sky. The day was going in slow motion, almost as if to provoke you. In this cold night, you couldn't really remember the last time you felt a bit warm. You looked out the window, distracting yourself as you observe the crystalflies in the not-so-far distance gracefully playing around on the vineyards.
The sight was soothing. You continued to lose yourself at the scenery- and in truth, trying to get away from your thoughts. But you couldn't. If only there was a proper distraction to-
"Huh?!"
You flinched slightly when you felt a pair of protective and strong arms wrap around your waist tenderly from behind.
Diluc.
When did he get here? You turned to look around at him, noticing an...unreadable look in his eyes. Was he guilty? Angry? Sad? Whatever it was, you saw no warmth.
"Sorry" he muttered softly for scaring you with his sudden presence, looking at you with hesitant eyes. Slowly, he reached down a bit and buried his face into your neck.
Immediately, you knew what this was about.
You grimaced slightly but without ill intent, and gently put his hands away. Body heat was the last thing you needed.
"No.." A quiet murmur left her lips. She suppressed a sigh. But Diluc wasn't too surprised as he looked up at her again with a hint of sadness.
You was thinking about...the past. You couldn't help but think about the past few days of arguing. It was your fault, definitely. Or was it? Ugh, everything was so confusing...
Why did you have to be this way? Goddamn it was frustrating. He hated it. It felt...distant. Like there was invisible barrier between you both that only you can break.
You broke his walls, found the key to his heart and made him smile brightly. The smile he thought he'd never smile again after the night his father died. And even worse....Kaeya.
It was torture. You knew everything about him. Helped him. You were there for him- so why couldn't he be there for you-- he loved you, you understand...right?
No matter how much Diluc pleaded, you would and could never find it in yourself to succumb into the relief Diluc has always promised you.
You were thinking about the past. And he knew just that.
"Not right now, sorry." Dismissive. You couldn't help it. You'd rather leave him alone than hurt him further. Before you could turn away, his gloveless hands had already latched onto yours with a firm, firm grip, pulling you back into his embrace. Yet gentle. He'd never hurt you. Ever. He's desperate and you can see it in his eyes.
He loves you, he loves you, he loves you.
And he was going to make sure you knew that.
Diluc's demeanor and tone became cold at the rejection, his burning red eyes glared at you.
"Not right now?" He repeated, holding in a scoff with disbelief and a subtle hint of pain in his voice. But either way, you notice the slight tremble as you looked up at your husband with widened eyes.
Diluc frowned and closed his eyes tightly, as if to calm himself down by the sheer amount of rage he was feeling. His hands clenched tightly onto yours- he won't let you run away from him. His heart. Not this time.
And yet, they wouldn't hurt you. He wouldn't dare..
And then his eyes snapped open and you shivered slightly by the intensity of his gaze.
"Why 'not now'? Am I not important to you anymore? Why won't you let me comfort you?! You're my wife after all!!" He exclaimed, his voice loud and filled with a lot of anguish.
But you knew- both of you knew that all this rage, this frustration was out of his love and his desperation to save you from whatever- anything and everything that's bothering you. His concern for you. Because everytime he says "I love you" to you, it isn't a joke. He loves you.
You open your mouth to say something- anything but nothing comes out. It feels selfish. To pour your worries and troubles on him. But it feels guilty when you see him like this.
"Please" the depth of desperation in his voice was surprising. And your eyes widened again at the tears in his eyes.
He felt his heart ripping apart, the one You brought to life. He didn't want to lose you. To hell with anything else- but you? Not you. He'd lose everything else but you.
Your heart squeezed when he tighten his grip around you, placing your head against his chest and cradling you. He held you like he'd never want to let go. He didn't. He couldn't let go.
Only then, were you aware of how fast his heart beat was. Soon enough you felt tears in your own eyes.
You felt his tears drop onto your shoulder, soaking the fabric on top a bit. You don't mind. You're just heartbroken.
"Please.." He repeats silently, burying his face into your shoulder as he let his tears fall. And you don't push him away this time. "Do not leave me like this.."
"Please don't ignore me- don't hide yourself from me." And now your tears fall too "I love you, Y/n. You."
"I-I beg you. Not like this. " his voice shook as he struggled to continue. "I hate arguing with you. I'm sor-."
But you were fed up with his apologizing. It wasn't even his fault. You should let him through as he has done to you.
His eyes widened as pressed your lips to his and the tears had stopped. You were standing on your tippy toes, holding his hand reassuringly.
A silent yet warm "I love you too"
The night wasn't that cold anymore.
And he kissed you back with a many more silent I love yous on his lips as you kiss them back with your own I love you toos.
You pull away, out of breath and take his chin in your hands. He blushed deeply, feeling that warm, home feeling as he looked into your eyes with love.
"Listen" you started firmly but lovingly and his attention was on you, completely. Well, it always is anyway. "I don't want you to apologize."
"I understand your love and concern completely" your tone softening as you smiled faintly "because I love you too."
"If anything, I'm sorry for hurting you like this." Diluc was almost going to say you didn't need to apologize but you were aware of this and quickly spoke once more.
"Diluc. I love you. And that's the best thing ever in my life." A deep sigh leaves your lips as you look into his eyes with hesitation- sure, but also love. Care. Trust. And determination.
You were determined to make things right.
"I feel scared. Confused. It hurts to think about it. My feelings. My past." You look at him with tears in his eyes, but also see reassurance in his eyes.. "There are no black and white shades. They are gray, unfortunately. I'd hate to be a burden. But if I hurt you more by keeping all this pain to myself, then...I will let you in.."
For a moment he looked at you blank. He was slightly pale. You were a bit scared to see him like this and you tilted your head slightly.
And then it went straight to his heart. You will...let him in..? Oh! This is great. You will finally trust him, huh?
A faint blush adorned your cheeks as soon as you caught sight of the happiest growing beam on his face.
His eyes were again, filled with warmth and mountains of relief.
He pulled you into a safe bear hug, holding you close and peppering the most sweet and gentle kisses onto your face and lips. You smiled, in a lovesick manner, feeling his love..
"Diluc.." When you chuckled, his heart ached with love. He missed your laugh.
He looked up at you once more, a tender smile gracing his lips beautifully. The only smile he'd give you.
"My love, my wife, my darling- don't let me go, darling. Without you my heart is useless. I love you...please, please let me be there for you.."
He whispered almost breathlessly and you pecked his lips, chuckling at the flush on his cheeks after.
"Please be there for me, Diluc."
And he smiled warmly. The night definitely was not going to be all that cold.

regret pt. 2 | alhaitham
a/n: soooooooooo, this was a bit overdue.. hahaha... i apologize for the delay but it's here now!! short disclaimer though, if you expect a make up and lovey dovey scene on this one it's not happening sadly. this end up being more of a character study of the scribe somehow? like i was really going in there with his pov, but of course this esentially is the continuation of the part one so i hope you all enjoyed and sorry for being so late!!!! (more of a/n at the end!)
3k words!!! (wasn't kidding when i said i really went in there)
summary:
alhaitham's own emotion and how he dealt with it proved to be an obstacle for himself. how deep does his regret truly runs?
read part one here!
-
alhaitham didn’t know before that the world could be this... quiet.
no, it’s more accurate to say that he couldn’t appreciate silence as he used to. there are pieces of you remaining across his day. at his office, on his way to lunch, the tavern, and even when he closed his eyes, persistently, you’re there. however those weren’t real, not anymore, since he himself was the one who had driven you away rather horribly.
and he shouldn’t regret it, he really shouldn’t. but he did.
he let out a sigh yet again, resting his eyes as he leaned back on his chair.
alhaitham hated vexatious things, especially stuff that had nothing to do with him. you, used to fell into this category. someone he shouldn’t bother with or care about, but you kept slithering in breaking what he thought was a solid wall. and uncharacteristically, he kept letting you. perhaps at a life-threatening moment where he had to tell the truth to live, he could consider admitting that he did not hate the way you smiled while you greeted him, or the way your eyebrow crinkled slightly with worry when you saw the piled up paper he had to tend on certain days. and even your lovable little pout when he told you he had skipped his meals. and it’s only now he realized that his useless pride wasn’t something worth holding onto if in exchange he would be missing all of these.
these bothersome yet endearing memories that refused to get out of his head. that he refused to forget.
and to think your last memory of him was him being so heartless—wait, come to think of it. was he ever nice towards you? was there ever a time where he didn’t treat you so cold?
alhaitham was stunned when he couldn’t find a positive response to both question. he felt like his heart was being clenched tightly. he had no choice but to go back to work, forced to stop his train of thoughts before he was overwhelmed.
it all had become so troublesome. too troublesome.
❀
alhaitham also had no idea how small the chance was of running into you, even though you both work at the same place. it’s news to him that if you hadn’t come to him all the time, you wouldn’t even be meeting at all.
the regret he felt just keep piling up.
now alhaitham found himself out from his office more often; in the library, or just walking around randon hallways to take a breather, these were all solely for the purpose that perhaps he would run into you. even just a glance for the briefest second, he thought he would be happy with just that. however it proved to be difficult since he hasn’t seen even a single strand of your hair for the past week.
and that’s when it happened, he saw a familiar figure walking towards him, it was like a slow-motion, something that he had been waiting to happen. alhaitham’s inside was all thundering, he knew he’s been missing you, but he didn’t know it was this bad.
but all of that nerves and excitement died down as quick as it came, as you walked past him without sparing even a single glance. turns out you were just rushing to get to the hall behind him. the silver-haired man could only stand there, witnessing your back until it disappeared at the very last second at a turn. his stomach churned in the worst way possible.
that nonchalant, ignorance, reminded him of nothing but himself. he now realized that he’s way past a stage where a single apology would fix everything he’s done.
❀
alhaitham went home with a heavy feeling inside of his chest. it’s been that way for too many days now.
he thought pushing you out of his life was the hill he was going to die on, but he played himself. he grew accustomed to a world with you now he thought going back to his old routine was something he wanted. turns out far from it.
he needed you.
he arrived, and as alhaitham opened the door, he never expected the sudden hit on his right jaw, making him staggered as his back touched the door. “you deserved that one, and i think you know that,” kaveh said. alhaitham couldn’t even react; ah, (y/n) has told him all about it, then.
alhaitham who had no energy left from the lack of sleep and meals held his jaw carefully, sliding down the wall and sat on the floor. he wasn’t in any way hurt badly, since obviously he had a stronger physique than the blond, but the other part inside of his chest ached. as kaveh said, he deserved that one. although it’s a bit infuriating that the architect was the one who did that, alhaitham also knew that you’d never be able to do that to him. not that your strength was the problem, it’s just that you’re so very kind, even to people that don’t deserve it.
then if what it took to see you smile at him again was a punch to the face, he’d put his as a target gladly.
alhaitham was in a daze, couldn’t even bring himself to retort the harsh welcome, he’s just quiet. which was very unusual.
“what should i do?” he finally mumbled. “what?” kaveh widened his eyes at the response. “what can i do.. to fix this?” that was very surprising coming from the prideful man, kaveh had doubts that the man in front of him was really his room mate. but kaveh only sighed, and lent out his hand. “get up, let’s talk.”
after the scribe finished putting an ointment to the bruise, they both sat on the dining table. there was no noise for a while, until alhaitham decided to break that. “how is (y/n)?” he treaded carefully. “good actually, now that they’re free from a weight that’s dragging them down.” kaveh spat, the grey-haired man made a blank look. “-is what i liked to say. however they’re not doing very well.” his expression turned into something of a deep concern for a friend. “how so?” alhaitham’s voice too, spiked with worries. something that kaveh wasn’t really familiar with that he couldn’t help but chuckle. “you’re really a funny guy. now you’re worried? after treating them like that?” kaveh said, astonished by the audacity of his roommate.
“i’m aware that all of this is my fault.” alhaitham clenched his fist tightly, he didn’t need anyone to remind him that he was at fault, he never allowed himself to forget that. “i mean, how could you alhaitham?!” just thinking about it made kaveh blood boiled once more. you who had treated everyone so kind, especially alhaitham since he knew you had feelings for the scribe, and for him to trample on all of that, it was all just too much, too miserable. kaveh wasn’t stopping there. “to think they were just offering assistance too. if you don’t want help, then say no, don’t lash out like a goddamn child! the blond was beyond worked up, you were such an important friend to him. “we know dealing with emotions isn’t your forte, but that was low, alhaitham. even for you.” kaveh finally finished his piece. sometimes the architect wondered with how alhaitham talked and how blunt he was, a hit to the face should’ve been something he’s used to getting—or at least the attempt to, since we all knew he wasn’t a weak guy.
alhaitham could only agree, it was all true what kaveh has said. “i know! i know i messed up really badly, that’s why allow me to be shameless and ask for your help. i really regret it,” the sword-wielder meekly said. kaveh relented slightly at the sincere words he spouted once in a blue moon. he relaxed back into the chair, realizing that he needed his head to be in the right place to get through this conversation. silence loomed over them once more.
“why were you so worked up everytime you talked to them anyway?” kaveh asked, his tone solemn. alhaitham seemed to be pondering for a moment, “i... don’t know,” he said slowly, his eyebrow twitched slighly in frustration, once again he was forced to remember how much of a jerk he was to you sometimes. kaveh too, wails with frustration at the response.
he’s hopeless, utterly hopeless!
however the scholar did not stop there, “i was always alone as you know, and i was fine with that. but ever since (y/n) came into my life, i realized that i started to look forward on days i would meet them, i started to find their company very comfortable and that unsettled me.” he finally got to say the truth out loud. “and that fear what was made me so adamant to reject it. i hated the idea that single person could turn my whole life upside down easily like that.”
alhaitham thought he was protecting himself, turns out that that did nothing except hurting you in the process. before lashing out on you, he’s been keen on perusing books he normally avoid, he’d spend his time reading what he thought was unusual titles, in hope that one of them could teach him about the overwhelming sensation he’s been experiencing ever since meeting you. yet none of them succeed. he was having a hard time understanding things that didn’t have reasoning behind it, that didn’t have clear method or formula that provides a precise and accurate solution. he realized he was at a place he wasn’t familiar with, a place where the line of logic is blurred.
how the hell was he supposed to understand it?
“alhaitham, just answer me this. do you like (y/n)?” kaveh asked. alhaitham was stunned for a moment, but surprisingly the answer came easy, but he did not want the blond the hear it for the first time. he wanted you to hear it, no, he needed you to hear it. that he liked you, so so much that literally, literally, he did not know what to do with himself. and that’s when a gear turned on the back of his mind. you needed to hear it. and alhaitham was going to make sure you hear it.
❀
just your luck. it’s just your luck out of all the signature of the people in akademiya, the higher-up told you that you needed alhaitham’s for your project.
just. your. luck.
you knocked on his office, that terrible day flashes on your mind for a second, but you quickly pushed that thought. it’s all gonna be okay, you’re here for pure business, exactly like the way he liked it.
“come in,” a voice replied at the knock. you took a deep breath and went in.
you could see alhaitham’s face was startled for a moment; a brief slip up for the usually emotionless man. but you couldn’t careless, as you set the document on his desk rather urgently. “i need your signature, no need to read through the document as it’s already pre-approved and just needed your agreement for it to proceed.”
alhaitham was quiet as he stalled, wishing to stare at you for that few additional seconds. you had bags under your eye—alhaitham almost reached his hand out to touch over them but he stopped himself. he should know his place.
as soon as the pen left the paper, you snatched it from his desk, and went to make your way out from the hellhole. alhaitham’s shoulder slumped, he knew you’re still mad at him, but to think you’re that bothered just to be in the same room as him. how was he supposed to get you to talk to him?
❀
“good morning, (y/n),”
that’s when it happened. alhaitham on your office with a cup of coffee on his hand first thing in the morning. your jaw dropped slightly, you couldn’t believe your eyes. he put the coffee on your desk. he didn’t react strongly at the lack of response as he didn’t expect you to welcome him. "what are you doing?” you asked, your tone was cold.
“just.. visiting you and thought that maybe you’d like coffee,” he said, even he wasn’t certain of his own words. wasn’t this the same man who had tear you apart just a week ago just because you cared for him? now he wanted to talk you pretending all of that crap didn’t happen?
you laughed loudly, yet it sounded sad. “you must think i’m a joke, alhaitham,” you stated, throwing away the coffee in front of you to the trash bin next to you. the scholar in front of you now looked a little timid, it’s almost pitiful. “no- of course not!” he frantically retorted, “then i’ll ask once again, what are you doing here?” you crossed your arm.
“i wanted to apologize for my actions,” he firmly said, his expression sincere.
oh, is this what’s it all about? it’s regret. something you don’t need, what you need is for him to realize that you wanted nothing to do with him anymore. nothing.
he looked restless as he await for your response, you couldn’t help but laugh a little. “why are you so nervous about, it’s not like you’re saying sorry to someone close to you or anything like that. anyways, apology accepted. anything else?”
at the stinging words his heart sunk, though his eyes widened at your response, “really?” that easy?
“yeah, now don’t come to this playground anymore, unless it’s strictly for business. good day,” you said, sitting back down getting back to your work. this is all new to alhaitham; feeling of wanting to jump out of the window. your harsh words, how easy it was for you to ignore you in a blink of an eye. and to think he did the same thing to you. no no, he did worse.
the difference is that your actions were justified, considering how much of an asshole he’s been to you. but him on the other hand, treated you just because he was a coward, not having the courage to face his own emotions.
alhaitham never thought he’d be envious of that specific trait of yours but right there as he stood in front of you, he wished that he understood all emotions in this world.
“please, please give me a chance to-“
“alhaitham, for someone as intelligent as you, there’s no way you didn’t understand what ‘strictly for business’ means, right?” you shot him down swiftly.
“just once. please. i won’t ask for anything anymore.” his voice was quiet, laced with utter desperation, that your conscience couldn’t help but respond to it. you were mad, but let’s not stoop to his level. you out of all people, was familiar with pain of being ignored by someone who you wanted to talk the most.
“you have one minute.” you finally relented.
“(y/n). i couldn’t be so shameless and ask you to forgive me, and while this may sound like a really bad excuse, i just wanted you to know that i didn’t mean any single word i said that time. as laughable as it was, i never wished for you to be hurt, especially on words that shouldn’t have meaning, words that i made up as a cowardly defense, words that had zero truth in them. i-i was scared that you changed my world so quickly that my initial reaction was to reject it, even though every time i met you i had nothing but pleasant warmth brimming in my chest. i’m sorry. i’m so sorry that you were hurt because of me.” it was all over the place, it may have missed a lot of points he had made on his head, but it was genuine. at this point with just this apology, alhaitham won’t be greedy and hoped his was accepted, he just wished that the wound on your heart that he had tore with his words would ease even just a little. because he truly, truly regret it.
you weren’t sure what to say, your eyes stopped at a window in the room.
“i.. don’t know what to say, alhaitham. all of this didn’t make the heartbreak i felt that day any less painful,” you mumbled, you could still remember it very vividly. “of course, that wasn’t my intention! i was stupid. i didn’t come here expecting you to welcome me with open arms, i just—very selfishly, realized now that i need you in my life, and i’m going to work very hard so you can at least tolerate that idea as well.” he was visibly stressed, his face filled with guilt. something you never thought he was capable of.
as much as you wanted to just push him away, you couldn’t ignore the emotional struggle he’s been having. you had no idea. though the reason excused nothing, you now had a better understanding of the man who’s standing right in front of you.
you sighed. “things are going to be very different, alhaitham. i sincerely hope you know that i’ll never come to you first again for anything ever. i never wanted to experience something like that again.” you said, setting out clear boundaries that what had happened in the past, was not going to happen for a second time. you’re going to make him work for it.
“i wouldn’t have it any other way. thank you so much (y/n), thank you,” alhaitham said, currently still feeling guilty because he knew the only reason he was getting a second chance was because your boundless kindness. he knew he didn’t deserve it, but he now was going to do everything in his power to accept him back into your life. which was something he did not expect to be easy, but he prefer it this way. he's beyond grateful that you had selflessly given him another chance to fight for you, and he's gonna fight like hell.
now alhaitham had hope. something he doesn’t really say out loud due to its nature being a bit childish, however at that time, he allowed himself to imagine a future with you, and how truly strange it was that the mere image of you being with him could make his stomach fluttered with pure joy.
alhaitham now understood very well that rationality did not work well with love.
and he’s okay with that.
-

he said something hurtful
characters: childe & zhongli genre: hurt and comfort wc: 1.4k
Childe
it’s been such a stressful day for the eleventh fatui harbinger. all these paperwork but no place to let out his pent up frustration to; battles. he’s been stuck to the duty for too many days now and when he said it was not going to get to him, perhaps that was overconfidence.
“here, i made you tea hope it helps you to relax a little,” you said as you put the glass on his desk at a reasonable distance away from his work. he hummed a lazy response as gratitude. you’d learnt not to take these gestures to heart since he’s palpably stressed and you all of people knew that childe is the most loving man you’ve ever been with. “anything else i can do for you?” you asked, genuinely wanted to assist him in any way you could. he just shook his head, “it’s fine,” he said curtly.
“massages? back rubs? need me to get anything from somewhere?” you tried again, seeing his not so good expression at a particular part of the paper he’s looking at, wanting to at least ease him a little.
“gods, (y/n),” he said with the most exasperated tone that it made you a little nervous. “can you be quiet for a second? what the hell do you think you can do for me?”
you gasped quietly at the outburst and childe regretted the words as soon as it came out from his mouth. “(y/n), baby i’m sorry i didn’t mean th-“ but you quickly cut him off, wanting to get out of the room as soon you can. “i’ll just leave,” you whimpered, voice clearly holding back tears. at this childe’s heart twinged with even more guilt, he swiftly chased you and brought you close to his chest. “i’m sorry, that was stupid and horrible of me, sorry (y/n),” he repeated the apologies as he rubbed circles on your back. you held back a sob yet to no avail tears still fell to his shoulder. “i just wanted to help,” you mumbled. “i know and you do, my baby always does the best things for me,” he kept you in his hold as he planted kisses on your forehead. “i always worry over you, childe. if i bother you i wish you could’ve just tell me nicely.”
“i’m sorry, i took out my frustration on you, ‘m sorry baby. won’t happen again, i promise. please don’t leave.” childe’s hold on you got tighter, he wished he could turn back time and hit his past-self for running his mouth like that when you’ve been nothing but kind to him. he brought your face close to his, wiping your tears with his thumbs. you looked at him, the apparent raw regret painted all over his face. “stay? please?”
“mhm, but none of that again, okay? ever,” you warned him. “promise. sorry again, you’re too good to me.” he continued embracing you.
Zhongli
you had promised zhongli to assist him with his work, he asked you to bring over a document from clerk zhao 9 a.m. sharp as it is was a very important task to do. he told you that a few days prior about it saying that he would have no time to do it himself thus asking for your help since there’s nobody in the world he trusted more than you. and of course you were more than happy to do it if it helped him even just a little.
the said day was approaching. you felt that your body was slightly sluggish the night before as you prepared to go to bed yet you thought nothing of it and assumed would get better if you just slept it off, but you were wrong. you woke up feeling extremely sick along with a terrible headache. but that wasn’t your biggest concern, you looked over the clock and its hour hands clearly showed: 9.30 a.m.
with your best ability at your current condition—which was very limited, you quickly forced yourself up and rushed to do the task zhongli has entrusted you in. you were struggling as you arrive at feiyun slope area that even clerk zhao showed concern and asked if you were okay which to you answer that you were just fine, when in fact you were clearly not. yet your bigger worry that minute was getting that document to zhongli as he said that it’s a very important matter and you must not be late. however with such a sick body, you arrived at the wangsheng funeral parlor a little over ten a.m.
you burst open his office, “zhongli, i’m so sor-“
“where were you?” he cut you off rather rudely, and he does not do that. “sorry, i-“ you tried again.
“i had told you that this is a very important matter, yet here you are being carelessly tardy.” his usual gentle tone was nowhere to be found, you found yourself in a very bad state, it took everything out of you to just even stand up right that second and he couldn’t see that. even clerk zhao immediately noticed it. you were not even going to make excuse, you just wanted him to listen. “zhongli, please listen-“
“this was such a mistake. i regret relying on you.” he swiftly took the paper on your hand, his back turned and faced you as he sort out his business on his desk. it wasn’t until he heard a sniffle that he had realized what he just said. mistake. regret.
“dear, i-“
you were already started to leave his office, one of your hand was on the wall supporting your own weight as you felt extremely weak and fatigued from all the running around a sick person should not be doing.
“(y/n), wait please i—you’re very warm!” he claimed loudly as his hand touched your arm. “sweetheart, do you have a fever?” he reached out a hand to feel your forehead but you swatted it away. “it’s nothing, just get back to your work.” you attempted to release yourself, but zhongli had another idea on mind as the former god of rock suddenly carried you to a room where there’s a bed as he lied you there and tucked you in a blanket. you who barely any strength just let him did whatever as you turned your back on him the moment your body touched the bed. the wound from his words still fresh on your mind as you cried. you knew that it was your fault that you’re late, however zhongli acted way out of line. his tone and harsh words were very unfamiliar to you.
zhongli looked at your back as he was eaten away by guilt. if only he could just listen. to think he was very adamant to not listen to you when all you wanted to do was to explain yourself and he said that crap instead which he didn’t mean at all.
he truly meant it when he said he would entrust even his life to you.
zhongli was late on realizing the severe damage he just caused over the harsh words he spouted in the heat of the moment. whatever the reason, he should have not done that, not to anyone, especially not to the love of his life. but in reality was he did.
“love, i apologize.” he knelt beside the bed. when that met no response he continued, “that was very foolish of me. i didn’t know what i was talking about. you’re my whole world, i rely on you the most. how very stupid that i could even have the nerve to say that when i do nothing but lean on you everyday in my life.” his voice heavy with remorse as he hesitantly rubbed your arm, trying to soothe you. “to think i just made my sick lover running around like that... i apologize.”
“i wasn’t trying to make excuses, zhongli. i did not choose to be sick.” your voice was meek, zhongli’s chest squeezed in pain, how could he make you say things like this. “of course not, even with your condition you still did your best for me and i reacted like that, i really deserve your anger.”
he saw that tears still ran across your face and it broke his heart. “dear, please, what i don’t deserve is your tears.” he gently turned you to face him, wiping your tears with his fingertip. you slowly stopped crying as zhongli kept whispering apologies and sweet words. “why don’t you get some rest first? we’ll talk again after you feel better,” zhongli said softly. you who had no complaint over that only nodded, getting the sleep you’ve desperately needed.
seconds before you fell into your slumber you could feel a kiss on your forehead. “(y/n), i love you very much.”

You faint during an argument/disagreement [Genshin Impact] (Part 1)
Summary: You’ve been feeling under the weather for the whole day, you just didn’t bother to tell him nor anyone, thinking that the headache would go away. He doesn’t notice at all due to him getting caught up with some work, or in general just having a bad day himself.
Notes and credits: Wholly inspired by minejiro.tumblr.com (They’re inactive now, according to the blog, but they wrote a Haikyuu one a while ago and I loved their rendition of it so much that I just had to bring it over to Genshin. I asked them for permission a while ago and they agreed :D)
Characters: Tartaglia, Diluc, Zhongli, gn!reader
Warnings: might have some harsh words/arguments, fainting spells, feeling unwell, panic attacks/hyperventilating maybe, not proofread, you and the genshin character live together, I seriously had trouble writing about what you might argue about with Diluc and Zhongli because these two are usually calm and collected. Not really a disagreement on Zhongli’s part, maybe just a misunderstanding. zhongli changes your clothes but its completely innocent.
Tartaglia
Could have a short-temper, depending on how his day has gone.
He adores you and thinks you’re his whole world but he does get some stressors once in a while, mainly because he works in the Fatui
Could easily overlook things when he has a lot of things on his mind
He comes home today tired and rather annoyed. Something about Dottore not taking his suggestions seriously, and Pierro never taking his side. It must be one of those Harbinger meetings again. He always seemed to be in a sour mood after one.

HELLO I READ TOUR JJK FLINCHING IJ AN ARGUMENT AND I LOVED IT I WAS WONDERIJF IF YOU COULD WRITE ONE FOR CHILDE AND AYATO AND DILUC FEED ME ANGST PLS
⋆.ೃ࿔ “You’re afraid of me?” II.
—In which genshin men reacts to you flinching during an argument.
childe, ayato, and diluc, (f).
genres + warnings. angst to fluff? | just a lot of strong words! |
notes i. absolutely love the anon who requested one for genshin men, I didn’t even think about doing that.
childe. You both came into a different agreement, you were both fighting over how one of the waiters in a restaurant you went to was flirting with you and you assured your boyfriend that he was far from doing that, you told him it was a friendly gesture from the waiter, but Childe being himself he refused to believe it, he knows what e saw and he tells himself you were blinded by your own nativity.
“Are we really gonna fight over this?” You ask with a sigh, tucking a strand behind your ear as Childe’s aura began to scare you, he was genuinely angry and you began to overthink.
“We’re not fighting, Y/n. I’m simply just asking you to be more aware of people’s intentions with you.” He says, his tone bold and angry, you sighed.
“You’re overreacting you know? He was being friendly, it was his job to make us comfortable.” You protest with his words and he scoffs, he wasn’t angry at you, he can never be, he was angry at your obliviousness.
“So you’re admitting you were comfortable with him flirting with you?” Childe twists your words with a different statement.
“He wasn’t flirting with me!” Now you were the one to first yell, he was being stubborn and your words seemed to not go through his ear throughly and you hate it.
“Well if he wasn’t then why was he undressing you with his eyes?” Childe says back his tone raising a little and you slightly feel yourself becoming small.
It was silent for a quick moment, Childe brings a hand to bring to his forehead and massage his temples when you made a mistake by flinching, thinking he had raised his hand to slap you.
Both of you froze, your movements halting. Childe’s eyes began to soften instantly and you hung your head down in shame.
“Baby...” he calls softly, it was your mistake and him feeling bad about it itches your stomach.
“ ‘m sorry, I really am sorry.” You say as guilt began to overcome you and before you knew it, your crying was audible and his body weakens at the sound, Childe’s arms wrapped around you securely.
“I won’t hurt you, you know that right? I would never do that to you.” He assures you, running his hand to smooth your hair as you sobbed on his chest.
ayato. “You can’t just run out like that again Y/n!” Ayato’s usual calm composure was overwritten by his frustration as he only looks at you with a glare, your usual soft and gentle Ayato now gone in a blur, you feel your hands slightly shaking and you hide it by shielding it away using the sleeves of your kimono.
“I was suppose to buy you a gif—“ you attempt to say, trying to at least calm him down by showing him the things you bought for him but expression doesn’t soften, it only tenses even more.
“Then you could’ve bought company with you! You are always so stubborn.” He says, he can’t help but to worry about you, he was angry at himself but it seems like he was venting it out on you and he knows it’s wrong but he just can’t help it.
You shift in your position, wanting the ground to swallow you up whole as you felt tears building at your line of sight and you lower your head down to not let him see you.
“Look at me.” He commands, this wasn’t Ayato, “Look at me!”
Without realizing it your body flinches, his loud voice echoes through out the corners of the room and the tear that was threatening to fall down from your eyes finally did just that, your hands shaking uncontrollably at Ayato’s genuine anger.
You don’t see it, but his face instantly falls when he notices how scared you were from him.
“Y/n...” he calls out softly, the Ayato you knew finally came back and you slowly look up at him, his eyes began to soften and worry covers his face.
“My apologies, I was going to far with my words... and tone.” He finally realizes, his voice now becoming gentle and composed. He began to approach you slowly and you were rooted in your spot so you didn’t move, just letting your tears flow.
“Are you afraid of me?” He asks, he brings his hand to caress your cheek and you didn’t flinch at all, you became comfortable since this Ayato wasn’t foreign.
“I... yes, a little bit but I was only afraid because you were angry at me.” You say, surprised that you even managed to make out a proper sentence.
“Archons, forgive me my love.” He says under his breath, he lets his forehead touch yours as you both relax in the company with each other, “I don’t ever want to see you afraid of me again.”
diluc. “Diluc, you got home late again.” You say softly, entering the kitchen you crossed your arms in front of your chest as you watch while your husband pours himself water on a cup of glass, his back facing you. You both stood in the kitchen in a Godly hour. You know this was going to result in another argument cause this situation between Diluc and you about him coming home late and going to work early was rather an often encounter.
“I’m tired, go back to bed.” He says, his voice tells you he was indeed tired and did not want to deal with anyone at the moment.
But you being you, you were stubborn. He was beginning to neglect you and you felt so sorry for yourself and to him, he needed rest from his work, “Please, can we just talk about this? You are draining yourself with work.”
“There is nothing to talk about, I am tired and I do not need to quarrel with you right now.” The red head finally turns his body around to face you, his eyes glaring into yours and you feel yourself shifting in your position.
“Well do not get angry.” You say, looking at him with a frown, Diluc rolls his eyes slightly.
“I am not angry.” He protests before taking a big sip on is cup of water.
“You’re angry, and bothered. Look at you, you are downright flushed!” You exclaims, bringing a hand to run through your soft hair as you feel yourself getting frustrated and so did Diluc.
“That’s what happens.” His tone now got a little bit stronger and bolder and also louder. You watch with your tears beginning to form as he slowly walks over to the table that separates the both of you.
“When one is angry.” You finish his words and he can’t be even more annoyed by how you accused him about being angry.
“When one wants nothing but rest but his significant other can’t bring herself to understand that!” He yells, literally yells as he brings his cup of water down to the table with a loud noise and you flinch, out of instinct you flinch.
You breathe hard, your heart beating fast against your chest as you look at him as if he was crazy, he wasn’t gentle anymore and you became cautious.
Diluc eyes began to calm down when e saw your reaction, he removes his hand from the cup and stands up straight, “Apologies.”
One tear, one tear rolled down your eyes and it was enough for him to rush over to you and hold your hands in his,
he brings it close to his lips and kisses the back of it, you relaxed a little.
“I was a little overboard, was I not?” He asks with a sorry tone, his face flushing with concern and worry as you only looked down, not feeling like facing him at the moment.
Without noticing, Diluc had snaked his hand up to your cheeks to cup one side of it, and he takes the chance to lift it up to level your face with his, “Did I scare you?”
“Uh... a little.” You answered honestly.
Diluc sighs softly before bringing your face to rest against his chest and you relaxed, listening how his heart beats softly behind it, “I’m sorry, let’s talk calmly in the morning my love.”
“For now let us get some rest, I’m sure we both had a hard time.”

WANDERER MISSES YOU - ONESHOT PT. 1
Prompt mildly Inspired by @Trixie_Rizz
PROMPT : Wanderer is a little tsundere (he's still dom tho), he just misses you, ANGST?, NOT THE TRAVELER'S POV
WARNINGS: Pretty much none
You met Wanderer when he was still cold and hated being around anyone. You had always stuck around him, and he had always found it irritating that you did. However one hangout eventually led to travelling all of Sumeru together, mainly particularly the rainforest. You had both gone on adventures together, taking up side quests from people that you mainly obliged and he didn't. He always just did something else while you helped someone with their issues.
As time went by however, he gradually began growing a liking to you, which eventually led to feelings and a jumble of struggles to confess his feelings towards you. When he did, a relief was washed through him knowing that you had felt the same way. That was the day you both began travelling together with a deeper bond, as lovers.
You had grew up in Inazuma for practically your whole life and your trip in Sumeru had come to a stop. You were having so much fun with your boyfriend that you forgot that it was all just a trip. You both feared that this relationship wouldn't last and that the trip ending would put an end to continue it.
Wanderer didn't wanna go to Inazuma with you, he hated that nation due to it being ran over by his own mother. The region gives him horrifying memories of his deeds and betrayals. He didn't wanna go nor did he want YOU to go. It saddened him that you were only in Sumeru for a trip, he'd much rather lie in comforts with you while talking to his pseudo sister, Nahida right now.
So there you were, luggage and ticket in hand while the sound of trains rang. Wanderer looked away, he often acted cold towards this relationship but you knew deep down he cared. His emotions spiralled in him as if you were making a cocktail of his emotions, he was glad you get to see your family again, he may be blunt with his words but he will always love you. At the same time however, he had grown such a deep bond with you, combining this with his abandonment issues, he felt betrayed, almost as if he was gonna cry in public and spoil his pride.
Lips quivering, "Tch. Do you seriously have to go? I mean, i'm certain this trip was far better than that trashy wasteland labelled as a region." "Yes I do, Wanderer. I'll be back to visit i promise." He bit back a few tears, and to your surprise, he hugged you. "If you leave me, i'm hunting you down and killing you." He spoke nonchalantly to which you chuckled to. "You'll come back, won't you?" "I will, i promise, i'll write to you every single week as well." "Whatever."
THERE WILL BE A PART 2 I PROMISEEEEE. I HAVE EVERYTHING PLANNED. anyway pLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give me some oneshot requests to write. (I will only write for reader x genshin men)

MY HEART DID 15 FLIPS, MY EYES ARE DRYYYYY YOU ROBBED ME OF HYDRATION 💔
Making up in the rain
After an argument with your lover, you stormed out and they chase after you despite the downpour
Tags: hurt to comfort, slight cursing, scaramouche being scaramouche. He loves you he swears (*˘︶˘*).。*♡
SCARAMOUCHE/WANDERER ☔
While you ran across the streets, your footsteps splashed against the water on the pavement...It was raining, hard.
Yet despite you knowing that, your emotions clouded your rational thinking, all common sense has been thrown out the window after fragments of your conversation with your boyfriend flashed in your head.
At first it was innocent bickering, fights between you two were normal. It was him after all, but this day was different. He came to your shared apartment slightly disheveled as he stumbled onto the couch, kicking off his shoes.
After hearing the sign of him coming home, you walked into the living room as you approached him with a soft smile, kneeling down in front of your boyfriend.
”Hmm? Don't tell me, nahida scolded you again?”
You playfully teased, humming as you reached out to touch his forehead and-
“Y/N.”
Scaramouche slapped your hand away quite coldly, turning his head to yours with an annoyed glare, causing you to wince as a frown creeped on your lips from the hostility in his voice.
The atmosphere between this moment felt...tense, so you resorted to comforting him instead, swallowing your throat; you tried to speak with him again.
”Hey...rough day scara? I mean- you know you could always talk to me about these things.”
Your throat felt dry as you still felt the coldness of his actions earlier, eyebrows furrowing with concern when you waited for him to say something.
“....”
Scaramouche looked at you blankly, mumbling something under his breath causing your heart rate to spike under the tension.
”Hey....c-cmon, talk to me scara-”
”Don't you ever get the hint of when you're being a bother?”
Scaramouche lets out a scoff, sitting up from the couch to push his hair back to look at you with a tired sigh.
“I...what?”
You felt a dagger thrust into your heart from his words, you were used to his insults early on in the relationship but he never actually meant it.
“You don't mean that.”
Turning your head away from his gaze, you bit down on your lip as you protested to his claim.
Scaramouche lets out a petty laugh, shrugging his shoulders as he speaks his mind. He has completely lost himself with his anger, causing the two of you to get in an heated argument.
You got up from your knees, struggling to say the right words as your throat clogged up from you holding back the tears from this argument.
”Why do I find you a bother? Really? You can't figure it out-“
Before he could say anything more, Wanderer's eyes widened at the sight of you sobbing as gasps escaped from your lips, roughly wiping your tears away.
”H-hey, wait no...I didnt mean-”
Wanderer swallows his pride as he tries to pull you into an embrace, only for you to push him away as tears dripped onto your cheek out of frustration.
“You don't want me to be a bother...? Consider it done.”
That was the last thing you said as you ran for the door, leaving him dumbfounded as he shouted for your name.
So that's how you ended up at this moment, completely drenched and running in the pouring rain. Letting your thoughts wander through your head from the frustration.
Did you know where you were going? No.
Did you care if you were going to get sick? No.
All you cared about was to get away from the heartbreak of his words. You knew he loved you yet, why was loving him hurting you this much?
After running aimlessly, you slowed down to catch your breath...your hands falling to your knees as the rain continued to fall.
”God...why am I such an idiot?”
You coughed, before deciding to sit somewhere on a random street...bringing your knees to your chest as the hours passed you by, collecting your thoughts about the argument.
Fights between you two never got this bad, sure you'd have your differences...but scaramouche would always put you first, and you do the same for him.
You shut your eyes tightly, leaning against the rough surface of the wall as you felt the cold of the weather finally catching up to you, making you shiver slightly. Just as you were about to stop your tears, you heard footsteps approaching your vulnerable form, calling your name.
”Y/N? Y/N! You- I finally found you.”
Scaramouche panted, slightly out of breath as he lowered the umbrella and held you into a tight embrace...
“Shit Y/N- I'm...“
Your boyfriend stuttered as a sob clogged in his throat. He wanted to apologize for making you feel this way, you were the only thing in his life that had gone right and after seeing you like this? In the rain, vulnerable and cold. He felt like a dick.
You attempted to push him away once again feeling your tears threaten to burst out again, but Wanderer only held onto you tighter, his hands clutching on to your shirt as he buried his face on your neck....whispering apologies in broken sobs.
”I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry.”
He softly repeated it again and again, never letting you go out of his embrace. The cocky persona he had cracked into pieces. He's scared that if he lets you go, you might disappear into thin air.
”You're such an idiot...“
You let out a weak laugh as you kissed his forehead, wrapping your arms around him as the rain continued to fall on the two of you.
“I know. I love you.”
Wanderer's voice was soft as his touch was on you...trying his best to keep you warm from the cold of the night, as he captured your lips in a loving kiss. He wasn't always good with words, but he hoped that you knew what he was trying to say.
Your relationship wasn't perfect, both of you knew that. But for him you knew it was worth it.
As for the rain that falls for you the same way Wanderer does; unapologetically over and over.

GENSHIN BOYS FINDING YOUR DIARY ABOUT THEM - HEADCANONS
You often wrote about your crush in your diary. You didn't believe that he would reciprocate your feelings, so you often found comfort in writing about him in your diary.
On a particular instance however, he was hanging out in your room and you had got up to prepare some snacks for him. While you were away, he looked to your blanket and noticed a little pink book semi-covered by the blanket. Curious, he picked it up and read it.
CYNO
- Shocked and intrigued.
- Would probably only ever bring it up if you banter together and it subtly suggests this instance.
-pretends to not know you like him when you come back with the snacks
-dw though if you find out, he's nervous/panicked too, he just doesn't wanna show it pookie ;)
-has a really bad joke or pun when you both banter and you find out
"I'm sorry. I couldn't resist the opportunity to 'snoop' at you. You're simply too fine to just stay in the 'shadows' and 'hide away' like that."
ALHAITHAM
- intrigued too, but mainly calm. He'd already suspected that you liked him.
- he'll probably just keep reading when you come in and catch him.
- bro just reads like it's any ordinary book, silent and focused 😭. You better hope you didn't narrate a whole story/fanfic of you both, or a vivid dream depicted in detail because hell of lord, he's going to read through it like it's written by Shakespeare. 💀
- probably will just spend more time with you after that and wait till you directly confess to him. He doesn't know romance stuff ight 😞
"I know." He reads a book while he hardly gives you any eye contact. "You wrote it in a diary." The silence and awkwardness fills the air. Your face was flushing knowing he had read through it. Alhaitham doesn't really know how romantic gestures work, but his cheeks were slightly tinted. You decided to break the silence by asking him out. "Sure, but if you let me finish reading that diary of yours."
CHILDE
- intrigued like everyone else. Excited knowing you feel the same way.
- brings it up the moment you walk in with the snacks
-will poke fun and tease you at how 'cheesy' and red you are.
-he's not missing an opportunity to just tease and ask you out.
"My my! What do we have here?~ Seems like someone has a bit crush on this harbinger! So...how about a date in a fancy restaurant located at Fontaine? My treat of course~"
ZHONGLI
- Zhongli is a gentleman, he would never snoop. In this case, let's re-write it a little. He would be trying to put the book to a shelf to help you keep organized. He'd unknowingly read the book for the contents to place it to it's respective place until he slowly realizes what it was.
- Like Alhaitham, he suspected you liked him in the first place. He's been in this world for so long, so it wasn't hard to recognise. He was calm too, but a little shocked reading through your diary.
- he's a respective man! He would probably read one or two pages out of curiosity and stops there for your privacy. He'd then put it back to your shelf.
- honest. When you come back, he'd straight up tell you he saw it on accident and that he was sorry.
- avoids embarrassing/teasing you, SUCH A GENTLEMAN GAH...
- prolly would subtly confess that he likes you too but if you seem like you wanted it to be a secret, he drops it and pretends like he doesn't know until you are ready enough to confess.
"My apologies. I was trying to put your diary back to a shelf and had read the contents unknowingly. I read the contents because i wasn't sure which category to place it in." He then takes a sip of his tea you poured him a while ago. "Though...I do wish to admit that I feel as if I may be able to reciprocate those feelings of yours. If you would give me a chance, that is."
12am rn. I will edit more ltr but gnnnnn i'm tired

VISTING OVERWORKED DILUC IN THE TAVERN.
Art by @Lumiphi on reddit.
PROMPTS : gn!reader, overworking Diluc, Accused Cheating, Angst?
WARNINGS : blood, getting scratched/cut, accused cheating, small mentions of alchohol
Diluc had been coming home late recently with messy clothes and whenever he did, he was hardly in a mood to explain. You've always urged him to tell you why he was always so late and tired whenever he was home, but he always brushed it off. It was the last straw when he came home late for the third time. This time, he slumped to the couch to sleep, it was 4am.
You didn't bother to ask him in the morning, however. You knew he would brush it off again and a fight would ignite. Though, a thought rushed through your mind that had been lingering for 3 days now, "had he been cheating on me?" You didn't wanna believe it was true, but you had to know eventually.
He was washing the dishes at the tavern, the sponge rubbing against the glassed cup to get rid of the dirt. The door opened, the sound of bells jingling in response to the action. Diluc looked up with his tired eyes, noticing his beloved. He smiled as you walked up to the stool infront of him, taking your seat as he continued to clean the glassed cups. You had visited him during work, because you knew he'd come home late and the two of you would've never talked about this situation at all.
"What brings you here my love?" He asked gingerly while his eyes remained focused on the cup he was scrubbing. "We need to talk." You spoke sternly, Diluc nodded and acknowledged the tone, though he seemed like he was willing to brush past it once more. You weren't gonna let that happen again, you thought. "Of course, my darling. I shall whip up a drink for you and we can sit down and chat. Your favourite cocktail i suppose." He turned his feet to put the cleaned cups back the respective drawers. He grabbed the ingredients for your cocktail. The noise of drunk customers chattering and cackling loudly and the music playing filling your ears while you sat conflicted and nervous at the thought on how you're supposed to bring the situation up.
You were lost in your thoughts until you glanced over to your significant other. He looked handsome as ever, but also off. His eyes were heavy, they had eye bags underneath and his lips were chapped. Why was he often late at home? You couldn't help but ponder. There was no way he was cheating and drinking with someone else during the night, right? It wouldn't make sense. His back then faced you and you admired the way he gracefully mixed the ingredients in while his calloused hands shook from behind. Until he dropped the glass, a loud clash making you jump. "Oh god!- are you alright?" You asked as you rushed over.
He didn't face you when you did and instead put his palm up to signify a 'halting motion' "Please, I'm alright darling. Please take a seat, i'll handle it" he quickly dismantled. He had a towel on his hand and he bent down to clean the shards. Until you saw a glimpse of blood on the towel. You quickly grabbed his wrist, stopping him, the towel dropping in the action. There it was, his bloodied hand cut up by the shards. His eyes looked away from you as soon as he was caught. "I'm okay, please-" "You're not! And it's exactly why i wanted to talk to you!" You cut him off. He looked away in guilt. Tears threatened to spill and he looked at you, almost flabbergasted. "Love...why are you crying?" You looked away in embarrassment as soon as the question was asked. "Diluc...have you been drinking with someone during the night? Please be honest." "What?" He looked at you almost dumb-founded. "Love, why would i do that?-" "Because you've been coming home late! You've also been tired, like i understand it could be because you've recently been coming home late, but what i wanna know is the reason why? Everytime i ask you just brush me off! Even before all this you would be home late like 3 times a month!"
He almost seemed guilty. He sighed. "Love...i need to tell you something" "what? So it's true? Hah. That explains it then, you've been working in the tavern more, the messy clothes, hair, coming home late." The more you spoke of the reasons on why you suspected it in the first place, the more your tears trickled down. "No no....darling look at me.." he cupped your cheek. "I just...work has been piling up more and my staff team had recently had gotten sick over their lunches being spoiled. So i had been working overnight for the tavern. The hilichurls kept showing up at the gates, taunting civilians during the night so i had to deal with them as the Dark Knight as well, thus my ragged clothes and hair..." He spoke in a awkward and nervous tone, almost whispering in case the customers could hear. "I swear I could never dream of doing that to you my love. I haven't really slept much but two hours a day because of it. I didn't wanna tell you because i had feared you'd get worried knowing the work piled up for me. I really am sorry for making you worry like this. My love i swear i'll make it up to you. " he explains.
Hearing this gave you a sense of comfort. You believed him. He embraced you and kissed you quickly. "I apologize dear. I shall put my work aside once my staff team is well enough to work, how does that sound?" "I love you." "Love you too." You then sat him down on a stool, brushed his red locks and began sweeping away the shards for him. You then came back, tending to his injured hand and kissed him.
ICL THIS SUCKED. TY FOR READING 😭

I saw this too. But i'm pretty sure Streamline has stated that she has been working on the video for around 6 months. This was before the word document came out about Quartelz. So i think it was a coincidence that Streamline chose to make fanart of her.
In other words, it's highly likely that the speedpaint was old because Streamline has been working on the video for so long.
im so annoyed that streamline completely disregarded this entire situation and praised mel's old art in her latest video. fucking disappointing, i used to think streamline was an actually good commentary channel that would set biases aside.
We will wait until Quartelz makes a response.

mind over matter.
pairing : singer!scaramouche x reader summary : in which scaramouche had to choose his career over you.
the lights dimmed as the bass and drums starts playing, scaramouche stands in the center while holding his mic, eyes casting downwards as he prepare himself to sing the lyrics.
Mind over matter Does it matter to any of us?
scaramouche could feel all eyes on him as he sang the first part, his hand shakes a little from stage fright that suddenly surface.
Don't change the subject I'm heavy on your love I missed that train New York City, it rains
he remember how hard it was to leave, how hard it was for him to choose his career over you. Fly to East L.A. in big jet planes You know you're on my mind?
he wonders, what do you think of him after he left you?
And if the world don't break I'll be shaking it
he wonders, do you know that you're not the only one suffering from this outcome? 'Cause I'm a young man after all And when the seasons change Will you stand by me? 'Cause I'm a young man built to fall
the audience lifts their phone, lighting their flash as they sing along with him. looking up to see his fans he holds the urge to tear up as the memory of you clouds his mind.
Mind over matter I'm in tatters thinking 'bout her
will you take him back after he left you that day? Taste my disaster It's heavy on my tongue
will you believe him if he told you that he still love you after all these years apart? All the lights aglow Tokyo snows
will you believe him if he told you that you're constantly occupying his mind till this day? Go to watch the show Curtain's closed I'm watching you this time
well believe it or not, he still follow your socials because it's the only way he's able to have a connection with you, in a way.
And if the world don't break I'll be shaking it
his eyes scans the crowd and he notice a familiar face. 'Cause I'm a young man after all
he feels his breathing stop as he locked eyes with you. And when the seasons change Will you stand by me? 'Cause I'm a young man built to fall
truth is, you've always supported him anonymously. Always adoring the way he thrive for that dream of his.
New York City, it rains Fly to East L.A. In big jet planes You know you're on my mind?
scaramouche really want to alter his gaze elsewhere but he finds himself unable to do so. As it felt like the missing part in his heart is filled when he sees you -- among the huge crowd, raising your flash at him. All the lights aglow Tokyo snows
he feels warm, he felt peace, the stage fright disappear as he tighten his grip on the mic.
Go to watch the show Curtain's closed I'm watching you this time
he could see your eyes widened when he notices you and that made his anxiety rise.
are you going to leave the concert, just like how he left you that night?
And if the world don't break I'll be shaking it 'Cause I'm a young man after all
he raise his arm towards you as he sang the lyrics. He could see the uncertainty on your face and that made him wonder why you came here in the first place.
And when the seasons change Will you stand by me (Fly to East L.A.)
he knew he have to let you go, and so do you. yet can you really? when your bond with him is that strong, can he really? when most of the song he wrote was about you.
And when the seasons change Will you stand by me? 'Cause I'm a young man built to fall
scaramouche lower his head as the band did an outro. and he could hear the crowd clapping and cheering for his amazing performance.
scaramouche finally understand that you were never meant to be his, he's not the right man for you.
he understood how you must felt during your relationship with him, all the effort he didn't bat an eye to because he was too busy chasing his dream.
you gave him all your love yet all he gave you was his goodbye.
scaramouche wished he realizes what he had when you were still his. yet he have made his decision and he's successful now,
no regrets right?

COMFORTING NERVOUS LYNEY
PROMPTS :: GN!Reader, Comfort (canon receiving), Fluff!
WARNINGS :: NONE! PURE FLUFF!!
Helping your boyfriend, Lyney with his practices was often very common. When you first met him, he was just a bundle of teasing, this was only because he found you interesting of course. After a while, the two of you grew close and he began presenting nervous traits while keeping up a more flirtatious personality with you. This didn't go un-noticed with you however, so you confronted him about it. When you did, he eventually subtly confessed his liking to you, which you happily admited to yours, thus a relationship forming.
The relationship was healthy. Lyney slowly grew more confident in expressing his affection, though one thing never changed. He still asked you to watch and judge his practices with Lynette before any of his actual shows. Feeling nervous was common with Lyney before his shows too, as Lynette would put it, "Don't let my brother's smirk fool you! He's often very nervous before his shows."
On a particular instance however, Lyney had a scheduled performance in around 2 minutes and he was unusually jittery in his movements. he gulped a part of his saliva. "Forgive me love...Just a little scared is all." This was his first time performing in a large audience of nobles, so this wasn't a newly wedded surprise to you.
"Hey...Look at me, LynLyn.." you spoke with his nickname you gave to him, to which he responded with a sweet grin, blushing. You held his frame and petted his hair. "Just do it like you're performing for me...okay?" You comforted. He snickered a little and looked away with rosy cheeks. "You know performing in front of you makes me nervous too, right?" He half joked.
When the timer struck to 20 seconds, he began smiling with a confidently. You held his hand and adjusted his hat. "You've got this." You murmured. He gave you a quick peck on the lips and felt better immediately. The curtains flew open and he stepped out, feeling more confident in himself.
"Thank you my love!"
THIS WAS SO CRINGE BUT I'M JUST HAVIBG FUN HERE, FORVIBE ME FOR THE BAD WRITINF 😔😔
