There are many fans who love works by the talented manga author and artist Kazuya Minekura, such as the Saiyuki Series, Wild Adapter, Bus Gamer, Stigma, and more. And for those who love to discuss her stories there’s a Discord Chatroom!

The chat room is quite active at all hours of the day with topics ranging from discussion about the latest chapters to head canons and theories to idle chatter about current events and other Anime/Manga Series.

We have a variety of people; some who talk every hour to folks who just enjoy lurking. Everyone is welcomed.

Some of you may have some questions which I’ll try to answer below.

What is Discord?

Discord is a free VoIP application, aka a chat room service similar to that of Skype. However there are no ads. It can be downloaded onto a desktop or folks can use the equally awesome web browser version.

With Discord users can create their own personal chat room community. What’s unique about this program is that it has ‘channels’, meaning several conversations can take place at once without things overlapping and getting cluttered.

The Saiyuki Discord has channels for many topics, including a room for Blast Spoilers so even if you’re not caught up you don’t have to worry about getting spoiled. There’s a room for discussing fan fiction, an off topic room where anything goes, a room for lovers of the musicals, and a salt room where you can unload and vent about anything that’s frustrating you.

As with many chat rooms, there are some guidelines. We aren’t super strict, however we pride ourselves on being a very chill chat that values respect for others.

Any and all spoilers for Saiyuki Reload Blast must be in the designated channel. Many have taken a hiatus from the series and have not caught up. Anything in Saiyuki Reload is fair game.

This server isn’t adults-only, so post spicier content in the NSFW channel. Cursing, light innuendo and such is fine as long as it’s not excessive. We’re all here because of Saiyuki so don’t expect things to be squeaky-clean and Disney-esque in the main channels.

Be mindful of your server nickname and avatar icon. If it’s explicit, you will be asked to change it and a mod will assign something else to you until you do. 

If you have any issues in the chat room please do not hesitate to message a mod. We will do out best to address the situation. The last thing we want is anyone to feel uncomfortable.

Ship and let ship. Please be respectful of others’ shipping preferences. We range from people who love to ship, to people who see them as bros. We respect NOTPs as well, but please expect people to want to talk about their favorite ships.

summary update 22/4/18

Hi!

First of all I’d like to say thanks to those who’ve been here from the beginning, you guys are fantastic! And hi to the new people who recently followed!

Sadly, nothing reasonably juicy to show off as of yet.

Due to life, I’ve said it before but I’m in the process of changing jobs. I’m on the eve of starting it and I’m having to cover a lot of reading material and tasking to even be considered being kept on. It’s a drag, and it pains me each time I get home I’m either too busy with duties or too tired to work on it. I really want to give this thing the best I got.

But in the brief, quiet moments I have, I’ll check my phone and see new reblogs, likes and follows that you guys do. It hurts that I can’t just magic up something tremendously fantastic to thank you all, but it keeps me going. Keeps it at the back of my mind. I hope to get the real deal started soon.

I’ve been learning new software to give it a real sense of authenticity. Until now I’ve only ever worked in Flash, which would create devastating results during cleanup and colours, honestly. 

It’d work. you’d have a Seiten v Hakkai battle, but it’d be on the lower budget side of anime. While I aim for something of this to reach @shittysaiyukiscreenshots when it’s done, I’d prefer most of it to be the highest quality we can provide.

That’s the desired level of quality, to look like it was ripped directly from a DVD. You probably won’t get that, but we’ll do our damndest to get there!!

We’re a long way away from this, but we’ll get there. We’ll work on it shots at a time, to keep you all included in the process.

That’s pretty much all I wanted to recap tonight. I mostly wanted to reassure it’s still happening, it’s completely serious, and we’re very excited to get started. Real life gets in the way sometimes. The blog’s just over two months, you’ve all been so kind, we just didn’t want to leave anyone in the dark over it.

There’s no real ETA because so far everything’s tied up until I can finish the animatic properly. But hopefully it’ll be done and ready before Minekura manages to find a way to fund an official Even A Worm arc. :D Hopefully.

Chi blasts are done. Chi healing is next. There’s a LOT of that. But first I’m waiting on the render to assess it.

ETA is 9 hours. It’s 4 am, render means I have no option than to sleep. I won’t object to that. Goodnight, remember to get the good sleep.

Progress update 28/03/18

Okay, get your banishing bullets ready. It’s not done. I have 13 more (big) things to do on it.

But rather than gripe about it and make excuses,I more wanted to prove why it’s taking as long as it is. 

So, all the purples and pinks are visual parts, I’m trying to black out the irrelevant panels to help the flow. It’s on he backburner because it eats a significant portion of my processor to do so. When the time and the sound’s are set. I’m going to export and reinsert, then finish it off.

All the teal elements, are the sounds in it. There are hundreds in it. And each time I can come up with a new way to make say, hakkai’s healing work, I have to crawl back through the timeline each time and edit all of them, for the sake of consistency. And in the time of 17 minutes, that’s a lot to go through. The black shadows on there are several tiny sounds clumped together. 

The total of sounds are 1600+, which I’ve kept organised by filing away after using it. It’s a lot to go through. It might be overkill, but I want it to be good. It’s going to be a while before 17-20 minutes of film is made. So it might work as a sort of audiobook, I guess for now.

“But Ent, won’t you working on this unimportant part mean that it’ll be even longer?” The irony’s not lost on me, my friend!

Next up is my to-do list

Excuse the condition of the paper, I have two very helpful kitty assistants with muddy feet. 

You can see I’ve crossed out a few, so it’s a start. The chi charges are almost done too, which I’m doing tonight. 

The absolute worst one will be footsteps, but it’s the one that’ll make it most enjoyable. Hearing Sanzo run away into the distance as the sounds of his boots ebb away. If this were a gourmet meal, I’d want to kiss my fingers

There’s two on there that are also important, the previously mentioned black boxings, and sound levelling. Which involves balancing the sounds so that your ears don’t bleed when you hear it. It sounds unnecessary, but you’ll thank me later for it. It’ll be loud, and you can turn it down, but your ear drum’s won’t burst.

It’s a lengthy, highly tedious process. And it’s part of the reason it’s taking so long, I have to listen to it thoroughly, making sure the timing’s right, the audio is clear, checking the audio levels... It all has to be done together, without distractions and no outside noises interrupting. 

Which immediately limits windows to sit down and do it until later at night when everyone’s asleep. 

What’s frustrating is that there’s so much going on in the project now, my pc cannot handle it properly. It’s not too much of a problem, just that to properly assess timing’s I need to export it to evaluate it. Otherwise images hang for far too long. 

But yeah, it’s happening. No new ETA this time, I’m always far too optimistic/ambitious, and never take into account any unforeseen sounds.

sort of update 20/3/18

Hi,

I’ve had to temporarily postpone work the last 2 week, I’ve got a new job that’s further out so I’m having to cycle further, hours are more erratic than ever and I’m taking on all the overtime I can to make up for the brief period where I was unemployed. I’ve been falling asleep almost as soon as I’m home...

Job’s chill, so I’m happy enough for now, it’s just time to readjust is what I needed. I’ve had other obligations to attend to, and by the end I haven’t had much time to pursue this.

BUT. That’s done, and I plan to continue again tomorrow. I want to get it done by the weekend, but there’s so much going on right now I can’t make any promises.

But if Minekura can find the strength in these awful weathers, it’s almost rude to just stop altogether.

 In hindsight, I’ve put too much focus on the sound, but we’re here now, so let’s finish what’s started and move forward!
