US History poll
I am increasingly curious about this w/r/t the US education system, and realized I am probably an Old and my experience is not universal, so:
No bald options because I ran out of answer slots.
NUANCE NOTES: The generation labels are approximate, so go with whatever you feel captures your age most. The topics are also approximate, i.e. by "Civil Rights Movement" I mean the actual Civil Rights movement as well as anything else happening roughly the same time period (Space Race, Vietnam, Kennedy assassination, etc.) By "US History Class" I mean a class focused on American history, and not an AP or Honors class but the bog-standard core requirement of your school. (If it was not a core requirement of your school - eg because you're not a USAmerican - sorry, you don't get to play.)
I ask this because I honestly don't remember my US History class in 2002-ish covering anything that came later than the Marshall Plan, which seemed like a pretty big fucking omission.
#absolute furthest we ever got was WW2#never ever ever got to the aftermath despite the fact we live in it

There is no queer art you can create that will ever be acceptable enough for the Christian far right, so why bother trying? Make art they'd hate.

A manatee rescue that I follow responded to a call about a female manatee with two calves because one of her babies had been injured by a boat strike. The entire family was temporarily relocated from the wild into a wildlife rehab facility for the injured male calf to undergo treatment. While there, vets noted the female calf was significantly larger than the little injured male. They did genetic testing and determined that big sister calf actually wasn’t related to the other two manatees at all! She was in fact an orphan calf that the adult manatee had found and taken in to care for right alongside her own little one.
Wild to think this manatee calf was literally adopted and nobody would have ever known if it weren’t for random coincidence and human curiosity. Every animal that you cross paths with in life has a fascinating personal story that you’ll only ever catch a glimpse of (if you’re lucky).

oh, sorry for the confusion. i don't have crohn's, i have crones. just a whole coven of the things; after my insurance stopped covering maidens and mothers they kind of bloomed out of control. it's mostly fine but if you put your ear to my stomach you might hear when you're going to die.

Someone living in Sweden during the Iron Age wore this cloak. Unfortunately, they wore it while they were murdered: forensic analysis found the holes in the cloak match how stabs would have penetrated the folds of the cloak when it was being worn.
Dating to 360 to 100 BCE, is also the oldest known example of a houndstooth pattern!
