executive dysfunction is telling yourself for two and a half hours that you need to shower bc you smell like your workplace and you absolutely Cannot do Anything Else until you shower, doing Any Other Thing before showering is illegal!!! but you still haven’t for some reason??? you’ve just been sitting on your bed in a towel scrolling tumblr for 2+ hours thinking “I need to shower right now immediately” and growing increasingly frustrated that you are still not clean and you haven’t eaten or done your laundry either

This is what made me fall in love with social history! I love reading about the random bits from people's days. Reading about people complaining about their neighbours, talking about how much they love their pets.
But it's so much more than that! The fact that so many past historians and various media writers depicted families in the past as being cold and unloving. And that is just not the case at all! Did they really think families felt all that differently from us now? Sure we have different ideas of what a family is - but love is still there. Family arguments were still there. And it just makes me feel so connected with the world thinking about it.
Idk. I love history so much.
it wild to me that there are people out there who aren't interested in history
like wdym you don't think about the fact that women would tell stories as they made butter in the same way we listen to podcasts today? wdym you don't think about that one Chinese poet who wrote about how much he loved his cats hundreds of years ago? wdym you don't think about the fact that we found a gravesite of a young child surrounded by flowers from THOUSANDS of years ago? wdym you don't think about how people wrote "i was here" into the walls in Pompeii? wdym you don't think about the little egyptian boy who drew little doodles at the top of his school works more then a thousand years ago?
wdym you don't think about the fact that people, no matter the place, time, or social status, are fundamentally no different from you. that they loved the same as you, enjoyed the same things you did, dreamed about a better life the same way you did. that despite how seemingly detached you are from these people, in time, place, and culture, the things you do and what u are is so undeniably human that it transcends time and space

I don't have kids (like permanently made sure I could not)
Nor do I visit relatives
Does that mean I'm not a woman? Which I mean I'm fine with, I'd just like to know.
Ever cleaned a house, budgeted the bills or cooked a meal?
Congratulations, you are a woman.

What advice do you have for a 14 year old girl?
This is so vague I love it. The voices you are hearing are real, god is speaking to you. The nation of France needs you. Don your armor, take up arms, lead the French army. This is your destiny, joan. When the flames come for you let them lick your bones and laugh.

bernie STILL having cops throw pro-palestine protestors out of his massive rallies and saying "israel has a right to defend itself against terrorism" and absolutely not knowing how to respond to that NOT being the vibe of his audience……
at least good to see that the crowd is not with him on this. i was worried at first that they were booing the protestors at the beginning given what we saw at the dnc and every kamala rally all through her campaign but they very clearly only started booing loudly when the cops tore away the flag and started escorting the protestors out, and the entire crowd then chanting free palestine while bernie tries and fails to plow through his prepared statements "in america today— in america today—" before finally addressing it by calling it "a sensitive issue" ………… well. that's where we're at.

I've found the most effective (for me) is reminding voters that their vote endorses the entire party, not just the one small section that they like.
So if they like PP's financial platform, but not his human rights platform. Then very gently remind them that voting for him endorses everything; and they have to live with the knowledge that their vote actively hurts others. this tactic only works on people who have a conscience/don't actively hate others.
My friend often gets people to talk out their reasoning with him, often he can get people to change their mind just by gently challenging things. I'm not good at this because I have very little patience.
Unless you think your parents are actually going to read and critically think about any resources you send them, it's not really going to be effective. Talking to them, challenging their ideals, and reminding them of the consequences is likely the best solution.
I've found most people who think conservatives are great at financial planning don't really understand how economies/capitalism works. Point at Alberta if you have to, and make sure you tell them that the reason why people are so food insecure/addicted to opioids/unhoused is 100% because the conservatives only ever think of what will put money in theirs and their buddies pockets, not anything that actually benefit the average person
My parents are thinking about voting Conservatives. Do you have any resources in French that could help me convince them not to? They seem convinced PP is the only one who can fix the debt.

Messages between me and Ibrahim @wolf-aid on the 17th of april 2025, shared with his permission
Ibrahim is only fifteen years old, and this is the kind of things he has to deal with because of the occupation. He dreams of continuing his education, but this genocide has taken that from him. Ibrahim’s home, school, and the places he used to spend his time have been destroyed, and he has been displaced multiple times and lost many relatives in the bombings. No one should have to go through this, and especially not at his age.
On top of this, both of his parents suffer from health issues, which is scary enough for a child to experience even outside of a war zone where they can’t get adequate treatment.
Prices in Gaza are sky high for food, medications and other necessities, and evacuations are expensive too. If you can donate to Ibrahim’s campaign, you are helping this family survive until the border reopens, and making sure they can afford to leave when they have the chance.
Thanks to Ibrahim’s hard work campaigning for his family, they have reached almost 90% of their goal, but they still have a little under 10,000 to go. Please don’t ignore him and don’t let this campaign slow down when they are so close to reaching their goal 🙏🏼🇵🇸

Lol my mom made us start cooking family dinners around 10 under the guise of "you need to learn how to cook, I'm preparing you for adulthood" We also had to make our own lunches.
Turns out she just fucking hated cooking so made her kids do it. And yeah 100% the meals she did cook were so low effort. Like pork chops cooked in mushroom soup lol
She also taught us nothing about nutrition, and with my husband being vegetarian and me being lactose and egg intolerant - we're practically vegan so I had to learn very fast how to make nutritious meals. So much for "preparing us for adulthood"
Sorry for the random rant. I just really hate my mother
Learning how to cook solely so you can judge your mom on how much effort your childhood meals actually took

@ Canadians
I think we have a solid factual basis and enough supporting evidence that (provided that the conservatives lose the election) we may have a case to have Canada alter or withdraw from its safe third country agreement with the United States and begin to accept trans refugees from there.
But this is not going to happen if we don't demand it and present information that should lead to an update to the law.
So in addition to voting in the next election, please try to get in contact with local immigrant and LGBTQ advocacy groups and organize to bring this information before those who could act on it, including phone calls to members of parliament.
It is time to take action. We can't just assume someone else will do it in our place.
As a refugee myself, I am already gathering allies and information to coordinate actions from the shadows. I am hopeful that this can be done.

Guys please talk about Palestinian prisoners’ day. It feels like everyone has gone full mask off and just stopped bringing attention to this entirely - but a lot of detainees you advocated for one year ago are still detained today. Still facing the same conditions of squalor & torture & being indefinitely separated from their loved ones. The stats on Palestinian detainees are still as bad as they’ve ever been. Please talk about it

Was there really a legal basis to begin with? I quickly went and read section 35 as I had not heard of it, but I don't really understand how they could have used it in the first place.
The UK Supreme Court has overruled Scottish Courts and declared the Scottish Government was wrong to include trans women in the definition of 'woman'.
Scottish Government needs to grow a spine and tell them to get fucked as far as I'm concerned. The UK can shove their 'Family of Nations' schtick up their arse.
