Alberta Premier Danielle Smith says the province will continue to try to convince U.S. President Donald Trump to reverse course on the tariff the U.S. is imposing on Canadian goods. In a lengthy post on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday, Smith said she was disappointed with the announcement that the U.S. will place a 10 per cent tariff on Canadian energy products, as well as a 25 per cent tariff on all other Canadian goods. The decision will harm Canadians and Americans alike, straining the relationship between the two countries, Smith said.

Israel only ceased the fire on Gaza, NOT ON ALL OF PALESTINE!
They move the genocide to Jenin.
Don't stop your help, please.

Hast thou considered a guillotine? I hear the French have perfected the art
My ancestors watching me suffer under capitalism the same way they suffered under feudalism: Hast thou tried setting fire to thy noble lord's castle?

Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew said Wednesday he still hopes Canada can avoid United States tariffs, but the country will have to respond strongly if U.S. President Donald Trump follows through on a threat to slap a 25 per cent charge on Canadian goods. “If tariffs get applied, Canada’s response has to be noticed. We can’t be a punching bag,” Kinew told reporters. “And we have to get our elbows up and let other folks know that we’re in the ring there too.”

This is done on purpose imo. Imma put the tinfoil hat on for a second: Alberta Conservatives base their entire platform on two things: oil = good, everything else = bad. But the more important thing in this context is "Federal Government Hates Us, the rest of Canada Hates Us, so Alberta Looks Out for Itself"
In order to make this a "viable" excuse, they need people to actually hate us, because nothing works better for "Us vs Them" than visible hatred/disgust. So they put out stuff that makes Albertans look like MAGAts (weirdy just realised that slogan could work for Alberta too, now I'm sad).
Premier compares trans kids to faeces - Albertans vote her in and now we look like bigots
Farmers hold a protest where they hold up signs saying "Kudatah" during the one time we had NDP leadership - now we look like uneducated hicks
Convoy protestors get ignored at the border - MAGA anyone?
No COVID regulations - Albertans don't care about anyone else but themselves.
I could go on and on - but this stuff gets force-fed to the rest of the country - while anything good is barely, if ever, in the news. Now we look like a province of bigoted, racist, uneducated, selfish hicks. And people start trashing on Albertans, and the government goes "look, see?! They hate us! They don't want what's best for us Albertans, so vote conservative and we'll do what's right for the province".
And this has been going on for 44 YEARS!
Alberta has a reputation devised by it's own government to keep us in our own isolated bubble because it suits their purposes
The only way to counter this is to try and spread the news that we aren't the image that we've been forced into. To send out good things, and rehabilitate our own image, because the government certainly wants us to be hated.
*I know this sounds conspiracy theory, and is really just based on my own observations. I remember being a teen in the early 2000's visiting Ontario and being mocked for being Albertan. That sucked but it was eye opening to how the rest of the country sees us*
You know, as a disabled, queer leftist living in Alberta, it really fucking bothers me looking at the comments and seeing so many comments shitting on the people living here. As if we all want to secede or support Danielle Smith. Hardly. There are many Albertans living here who are BIPOC, LGBTQA+, and/or disabled. Many of us don't even have the means to leave this province or even want to. We fucking hate Smith and her ass-kissing and how the UCP has dismantled everything here. Yet some of the comments I've seen keep lumping us all in with the MAGA shits and it pisses me off to no end.

My mom was generally a shitty patient but she did do a few good things, and one of them was letting us do stupid kid shit. We watched my little brother go down a slide on his roller skates. He was warned he would break an arm. He broke his arm.
The same thing happened to me when I was a kid, and the learning how to fall thing is so real. I have terrible balance, and I fall a lot. If I hadn't learned how to fall, I'd be in pretty bad shape today
On my hands and knees begging adults to allow children to engage in risk play.
And by risk play I don't mean handing them a gun and playing Russian Roulette.
I mean like climbing trees, getting so sick spinning on the swing they throw up, balancing on the curb, sitting in the mud, walking on slippery surfaces, building half ass ramps to ride their bike over, standing on rocks, or anything that involves a smidgen of confidence and out of the box thinking that could result in injury.
Obviously like watch your kids and such, but when we talk about the fun of being an 80s or 90s kid, it's not just talking about CDs and Walkmans or not having iPads. It's about how kids today were robbed of critical learning and experience skills we were allowed to have.
Playgrounds disappearing, helicopter parents, and sue culture really destroyed a child's development in the United States, and I think it's about time we as adults recognize that, because the kids sure have.

“The first phase of our response will include tariffs on $30 billion in goods imported from the U.S., effective February 4, 2025, when the U.S tariffs are applied. The list includes products such as orange juice, peanut butter, wine, spirits, beer, coffee, appliances, apparel, footwear, motorcycles, cosmetics, and pulp and paper. A detailed list of these goods will be made available shortly.
Minister LeBlanc also announced that the government intends to impose tariffs on an additional list of imported U.S. goods worth $125 billion. A full list of these goods will be made available for a 21-day public comment period prior to implementation, and will include products such as passenger vehicles and trucks, including electric vehicles, steel and aluminum products, certain fruits and vegetables, aerospace products, beef, pork, dairy, trucks and buses, recreational vehicles, and recreational boats.
In addition to this initial response, Ministers LeBlanc and Joly reiterated that all options remain on the table as the government considers additional measures, including non-tariff options, should the U.S. continue to apply unjustified tariffs on Canada.
Less than 1 per cent of the fentanyl and illegal crossings into the United States come from Canada. We will not stand idly by when our nation is being needlessly and unfairly targeted. The government will defend Canadian interests and jobs. We stand ready to support affected workers and businesses.”

If I may add on to this, a Canadian MP is currently trying to get Elections Canada to investigate Elon and potential interference in our elections. So if you aren't British but are Canadian please send an email!
Every country should be taking steps to prevent men like Elon interfering in our politics.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8316fc127f57e87b19df6823055dafe0/d9c057357be55528-ed/s540x810/6e1bbe89ff1cc99e1885687f11fb2159513effdd.jpg)
Calling all Brits on this hellsite.
We all saw Elon Musk do the nazi salute at the Trump inauguration. We know that he is influencing and fanning the flames of right wing political parties.
And that very well may include ours.
Because Elon Musk has pledged to donate $100 million to the Reform party. He has since mentioned that it might be hard to give such a large sum now.
But I don’t think we should take our chances. And I think we can agree that letting billionaires influence our countries politics is a terrible idea.
If you also agree here’s a link to a Parliament petition.
It calls for the government to remove loopholes that allow wealthy foreign individuals to make donations into UK political parties (e.g. by funnelling through UK registered companies).
As it is a parliament petition the government are required to debate it in parliament. But for that to happen it needs to reach 100,000 signatures.
Non British folk I’m afraid you guys can’t sign but I encourage you guys to reblog so that more people can see this.

I really feel like that ask was an attempt at anti NDP rage bait.
This is why it's so important to actually read the articles.
Also fuck that school board
BCNDP just fired Victoria's school board for not letting cops in schools.
