Just wanna say that I rehomed a dog. I was young and wasn't ready for the responsibility like I thought I was, also he wasn't the kind of dog that fit my lifestyle. My aunt helped me find him a good home and he was so much better off there. Sometimes you just gotta admit when things aren't working out, it's like staying in a bad relationship "for the kids" but you're only hurting the kids in the end.
That all said, be honest with yourself when getting a pet, and you'll be less likely to need to re-home. Obviously things don't always work out as mentioned, but you can minimise the risk
hi! can i ask what's ur opinion on giving pets away? not necessarily because u can't afford to care for em anymore but maybe incompatibility of personalities or maybe lifestyles. is it wrong to give ur pet for adoption if u know someone who's better suited for keeping a pet, like emotionally?
This is going to be controversial, but I support making that choice.
There’s a lot of rhetoric lately around how it’s evil and unethical to rehome your pet if you don’t “need to.” And what that does is prioritize human ideology over the actual animal’s well-being.
Pets that aren’t a good match for your home or pets that aren’t really wanted anymore frequently have lower welfare! When caring for an animal becomes a burden or is forced, people end up resenting them, and that means the animal often doesn’t get all of its needs fulfilled. Even if you’re still feeding it and providing appropriate vet care, how likely are you to provide affection or enrichment to an animal you’re tired of being stuck with?
Lifestyle and personality really matter to making sure a pet is a good fit for a home. A dog that alert-barks at every leaf that moves is probably a bad fit for someone who has a chronic migraine syndrome, and they might not know that until the dog has been in the home for weeks and started to open up. A really feisty kitten that requires a ton of play might not do best in the home of someone older who wanted a quiet lap cat. And while you can you do your best to plan to find a compatible animal, you won’t always know ahead of time what issues might arise.
“Forever home” rhetoric is really, really popular and I think it’s very unfair to the animals it is supposed to support. It started with the backlash of seeing animals abandoned inappropriately, and has been heavily reinforced in the public mind because it’s so frequently used to drive fundraising and support for legislation. The whole “forever home” concept communicates to people that getting an animal is an immutable commitment and that if you can’t keep an animal, it is a personal moral failing. It frames human priorities (we think people who get rid of animals are Evil and Bad and should be shunned) as more important than actual welfare needs for individual animals (are they getting the care they need where they are).
Obviously, I don’t support people dumping animals or just getting fad pets they’ll discard immediately, but there’s so many alternate situations that can arise. Even if it’s just “they got a pet and didn’t know what caring for it would take and didn’t want to care for it so they brought it back, how awful” like… okay, I’d like the person to have done more research before they got a pet, but isn’t it better that the animal now has a second chance to go to better home? Knowing what a commitment requires theoretically can be very different than having to actually follow through regularly, and I’d rather see someone maturely acknowledge that having an animal isn’t a good fit than keep it anyway!!
If animals being happy and with all their biological, veterinary, and social needs fulfilled is actually the goal, we need to prioritize their welfare over human opinion. I’d much rather see an animal rehomed responsibly to somewhere it will thrive and be welcomed than see people keep animals they can’t/don’t want to care for out of guilt or shame.

Please remember that the most important aspect of my post was for you to remember to donate to my friends!
Very often I've been asked here if there was any way to send me money or gifts, or if there was any way to help my own family members evacuate Ghazzah or Lebanon through fundraisers. If you are one of those people and you have extra to give this holiday season, please don't hesitate to donate to my friends' survival funds! Every day I worry about whether they'll have enough to eat, or whether they've survived yet another bombing. It would help them immensely and it would ease my worries seeing as flour is costing over 200 shekels.
Please give to those most in need in this holiday season!

Also if you're still in school, talk to your teachers! They likely aren't allowed to give you their political opinions; and they shouldn't, they should teach you to formulate your own! One of the most useful things I learned in HS was from a lesson in an English class where the teacher taught us critical thinking. It's stuck with me for 20 years! You can ask them how to understand debates better, and how politics work (or supposed to anyways). I can promise that a lot of teachers would be happy to talk to you about it. Especially your social studies teacher.
Hi, sorry to ask but I have no idea where else to turn; I’m a teen with no idea how to keep up with the news and a very flimsy grasp on Canadian politics as a whole, as in how the politics of the country function. Do you have any tips for me on how to educate myself? Because quite frankly I’m completely lost.

Its a few posts from years ago that attempts to explain how Canada's politics works.
You're also welcome to ask me any specific question, and I'll do my best to answer it.

Fun fact, this can also be used to treat pre menstrual dysphoric disorder. It works amazingly so if you've got that, definitely bring up with your doctor!
The Australian Government has announced it is now subsidising “life-changing” new medication for endometriosis. This marks the first time new medication for endometriosis has been made available on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) in 30 years.  Earlier this year, the medication dienogest, known by its brand name Visanne, was approved for treating symptoms of the condition. Endometriosis affects one in seven women in Australia, as well as nonbinary people and trans men with uteruses. Endometriosis can cause severe period pain, pain during sex, pelvic pain outside of the menstrual cycle, pain when passing a bowel motion or urine, bloating, fatigue, and difficulty conceiving. The symptoms are caused by tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (the endometrium) growing outside the uterus. The tablet, which can be taken once a day, was approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) for the treatment of symptoms associated with the condition. It regulates the levels of oestrogen and progesterone in the body, which are linked to endometriosis, and can shrink and suppress the growth of abnormal tissue in the body.

As of late, the Society for Palestinian Human Rights that was forcibly disaffiliated from Concordia University - in association with the Palestinian Youth Movement's Montreal chapter and the National SJP - are investigating Concordia University's use of Israeli mercenaries to attack Palestinian students and the SPHR. So far, they have identified several lead members of the company who are seasoned war criminals and have long experience illegally occupying Lebanese and Palestinian territory and terrorizing civilians. They've also identified them in footage and photos during the mercenaries' attacks of Palestinian and ally students on campus. As a result, these individuals have attempted to go into hiding online, as the independent investigation continues.
I want to make it clear that Concordia University's administration is hiring IOF mercenaries to attack Palestinian and ally students on campus, all while absolutely no mainstream news organization is investigating or trying to cover this.
This comes after 11000 of Concordia's students have voted to go on strike to demand the school cease financing arms' companies, most of whom are affiliated with the zionist state, along with 79000 other students in Montreal who voted for strikes in their schools. Concordia University is possibly the University with the highest rate of Palestinian and Lebanese students in the entire country, most of which are immigrants straight from Lebanon and Palestine. And the administration is hiring mercenaries who have a long history of terrorizing Palestinian and Lebanese civilians to attack them. It is not enough that these students left their home countries to flee Israeli terrorism, it must now follow them in Canada too. If you're not worried about this, if this doesn't bother you, you're part of the problem.

I think a cybertruck would also put them out of harm's way, if a submarine is not available.
Think all the health insurance CEOs should be sent somewhere to hide until the world calms down a bit. We can’t have them fearing for their lives if they come across any ordinary member of the public.
So after much thought, I think the only way to keep them all completely safe is if we put them out of harms way in a submarine.
