saw an absolutely hilarious animal crossing theory that i now 100% accept and it’s that in the animal crossing world, humans are going extinct, and so all the animals have locked you in an elaborate zoo enclosure and are trying to give you enrichment. and that’s why they give you infinite pointless tasks, hide money in trees and rocks, invented debt that doesnt matter etc. it’s why they always act so happy to see you even after you raze the entire island, relocate their houses twice, and always act so pleased about your choices no matter what. it’s all to keep their little endangered human healthy and enriched. and thinking of it this way has genuinely improved my experience of the game

i feel like the reality of durge's amnesia isn't addressed enough.

up until act 3, they remember nothing of who they are. all they know is their name and that they have an insatiable bloodlust. can you imagine how terrible and frustrating it must be to know absolutely nothing about yourself?

imagine the party sitting around the campfire exchanging stories of their lives before they were abducted and when it get's to be durge's turn...nothing. there's nothing they can tell because they have no idea what they were doing before.

imagine Gale talking about waterdeep and casually asking Durge if they've ever been and they just...don't know.

lying awake at night not only haunted by visions of death but trying desperately to piece together what few things they know about themself, trying to stitch together any kind of narrative that makes any sense at all only to give up because there's just not enough information.

it must have sucked, is all i'm saying.
