You are a merchant in a fantasy world peddling your wares when your best customer comes along and asks you how you’ve been able to get to a location ahead of them, though monster-infested terrain while also bringing your massive amount of supplies and equitment everywhere you go.

they better not fuck up the Dredge movie
I want suspense. the TWIST. the VIBES. the MONSTERS. the INSANITY. the EXISTENTIAL DREAD. the LORE. the MYSTERY. the FORESHADOWING. the SOUND. the GRAPHICS. also i want them to do the bad ending.
i want them to show us the collector, like, in a way that's like-- there's no way they'd think it, but in hindsight it was kinda obvious. the FEAR when you thought, "one last spot," then realized you stayed out too late and now you have to deal with the Consequences. when you have to go to that area but there's a Creature there. when the mayor told you about the last fisherman and then you realize YOU WERE THE LAST FISHERMAN. finding the lighthouse ruins in Devil's Spine. Anxiety when transporting the dog, fearing that a storm will sweep it overboard. Meeting the lighthouse keeper and knowing that she knows. the DREAD when the fishmonger ate the aberration and went MIA for a few days. that whole thing with the dock worker. going up to rocks and wrecks but it's really a giant crab. finding the bottled letters. the creature in Gale Cliffs. sunny mornings at Gale Cliffs. realizing it was a giant octopus at the bottom of Stellar Basin. Stellar Basin at night. the moving roots at the Twisted Strand. The afternoon fog at the Twisted Strand. The fish fuckers and their blind mother at the Devil's Spine. the Devil's Spine at sunrise/sunset. The prophet guy and the floating flames and the old lighthouse. The Prophecy. Realizing you doomed them all. Realizing it was doomed from the start.

Days nine and ten of Dredgetober: Portal and Sinew
I’m much happier with how sinew turned out, but I think portal turned out well too! I’m slowly trying to work through the days I missed, hence why I was able to do two today

I’ve missed a couple more Dredgetober days that I swear I’ll go back and do but I realized I never showed the finished twisted strand painting!
It was an experiment with watercolor pens combined with my watercolors! I like how it turned out, but I think I still need some practice.
#dredge#dredge game#could NOT get the paper to lay flat for the life of me#I love twisted strand the atmosphere is so cool#WAIT I JUST REALIZED I FORGOT TO ADD THE VINES ATTACKING THE BOAT#Well. maybe another update to come I guess lol

Probably shouting into the void with this thought but SOMEONE HAS TO SAY IT
DREDGE AND STILL WAKES THE DEEP CROSSOVER
Why am I saying this? Because how can you expect me not to go feral over the fact that the spooky Cthulhu drilling rig game was released the same year as the spooky Cthulhu fishing game gets a drilling rig DLC
Tell me I’m not the only one who wants to write about Caz surviving the destruction of the rig and ends up getting saved by the Fisherman and coming to terms with his trauma as he and the Fisherman pull monster fish from the deep to sell
Also, Caz screaming bloody murder as the Fisherman uses Haste to get away from a deadly hallucination/the Marrows Anglerfish

Being an NPC in Dredge must be a wild ride. You work on an oil rig and one day this guy in a bizarrely tricked out fishing boat rolls up at Mach Fuck You to say hi (why does he have an icebreaker?) and he's got dredging equipment so the foreman asks if he can pull up some of your missing supply shipments and he says sure. Okay, the weird guy with the suspiciously souped up fishing boat (why does one of his engines look like it's made of meat?) is just a nice, normal guy who's just weird about his boat, fine.
And then you start drilling and cause an oil seep in an inhabited group of islands and you feel bad, but your new friend makes a deal with the scientist to go study the seep, so it'll probably be fine, right? Well, then the fisherman, upon hearing that he'll be going back and forth between the oil rig and the Marrows (and isn't that a kind of morbid name for a place where people live?) a lot, dumps a glowing golden anchor overboard that OPENS UP A PORTAL, AND WHEN HE GOES IN THE PORTAL HIS BOAT FUCKING EXPLODES.
And then the next day, his suspiciously souped up fishing boat un-explodes out of the portal and he docks on your workplace that you also live in like nothing ever happened.
I, for one, would simply start drinking.

This is amazing!!
Dredge-inspired embroidery I did last month !
I used some glow-in-the-dark yarn where I could. It's my first time doing something more "artsy".
(Dredge is a cosy horror fishing game, it's great, you should go play it)

Dredgetober day 3: Harbor
I’m experimenting with new mediums, so it’s a little rough but I’m pretty happy with it! “Harbor” made me think of Greater Morrow, which I was always happy to see and dock at in early game when running from the anglerboat.
I missed days 1 & 2, but I’m planning on coming back to them and finishing them later!

Sketch progress for a Dredge painting! The sketch has come out really well, so now I’m just hoping my watercolor skills are up to the task.
#dredge#dredge game#twisted strand#looks like the panic is getting to the fisherman#representative of the first time the trees attacked me at night#scared me so badly I was NOT expecting it

You know how roman statues were much more vivid in their time, and erosion (and historical revisionism)?
I'm watching this video on the history of lace, and she off-hand mentions 'most of this was on metallic threads so you could see all the intricacy, not the white we have today'
And my mind is blown
Metallic threads wouldn't last very long, as most metals are, i think, disinclined to acting as fabric, and you can't really work in a twist
Of course you would want to use the brightest medium to show off your craft if you were a master craftsman. Most high caliber art was made on commission, and the commissioner usually doesn't understand the intricacies of the craft their buying.
All this is to say, i think historical costumes need more glitter

i definitely think minecraft won't be the game for everyone in the end and that's just how things are no problem but i do think *some* people who don't get the hype of it just need to play with their friends and build a house with them. its also for doing things like this.

the thing about magic mountain is that it's so funny how little sense it makes when you combine everyone's lore.
This is a volcano. We don't know if it's dormant or active but we do know that there's a hole leading Somewhere outside the world at the bottom of the crater. On one side we have an abandoned cyberpunk dystopia and the bunker all of its former citizens are hiding in, as well as Japanese cyberpunk city with a serial horse killer on the loose. Over here is the sleepy mountain town that consists entirely of shops and then one guy's house, and next to that is the magical teleporting zoo train whose owner is currently levelling a mountain to make room for his zoo. Along this part of the river two people are going through their own personal and mostly unrelated fish-themed horror stories. This is Skizz's torture pyramid that teaches you about what you really need in life by killing you repeatedly. Welcome to magic mountain :)

Fuck that post going around saying "you can have coffee in your story without justifying it :) you don't need to explain everything :)" I want, no, I DEMAND a fully researched ethnobotanical paper on every single food item in your work, if you don't explain to me where did potatoes come from in your fantasy setting or don't explain how the industry of coffee works over interstellar distances with full detail you are doing things wrong and I personally hate you and I hate your stupid story, fuck you

My Dredge earring collection is expanding!
I made the top three earlier this year, and the bottom two I just made today! The top row is the cod/all-seeing cod, barreleye/voideye, and the boat. The bottom row is the congor eel/sprouting eel and the grey mullet/gleaming mullet. I’m aiming to have at least one pair themed around a fish from each area of the game (+the Pale Reach and open ocean)
#dredge#dredge game#now that i think about it#i should have done the boat and the night angler#eh#maybe next time#i love these silly little guys#they’re aberrated fish and I love that for them. they slay
