Okay. Miles is not only getting his own movie franchise, which has already been green lit for a sequel, BUT his current movie is getting rave reviews and kicking ass before it’s even out yet. 

I STILL remember when Miles was brought into the Ultimate universe back in 2011. The hatred he got. The racist fans that hated the idea of Miles even existing. How they were convinced Miles would be gone in a year and Peter would be brought back. And now we’re here. 

Miles has been in cartoons, video games, books, comics, and now he’s starring in his own franchise that’s already successful.

su thoughts - 1st batch

these are the episodes my friend and i have gone through so far! i’m going to keep these brief since the beginning of the show is fairly episodic.

Pilot - i really miss the style of the pilot, but i know why they can’t keep up with it due to budget and time and such. it’s a really neat pilot tho!

Gem Glow - a good first official episode! i miss cookie cat.

Laser Light Cannon - introduction to greg! he deserves to be treated so much better with all he puts up with tbh.

Cheeseburger Backpack - this episode made me realize just how much i miss seeing the gems go on missions.

Together Breakfast - simple but fun enough episode. it was cool getting a mini-exploration of the crystal gems’ personalities through their rooms.

Frybo - fun fact, this is the first episode i ever saw of su! it’s a pretty solid episode, too.

Cat Fingers - adorable nightmare fuel.

Bubble Buddies - ahhhhh connieeeeee, my girl! i love this episode a lot.

Serious Steven - another simple but fun one!

Tiger Millionaire - one of my faves! amethyst is my fave of the crystal gems and it was nice seeing this episode for her.

Steven’s Lion - the introduction to lion, aka the best character obviously. (sadly, this episode has the “we kept amethsyt” line that i really don’t like)

Arcade Mania - beat the meat beat the meat beat the meat.

Giant Woman - watching this episode again made me realize how much i wish fusions were more fleshed out and utilized in the show, personally.

So Many Birthdays - it’s kind of odd how steven’s age fluctuating doesn’t come into play that often in the show but it’s not a big deal. an interesting episode tho.

overall, the show started off pretty strong!! the show actually does pretty well as a monster-of-the-week adventure. i love all the different locations, and how cool and mysterious the crystal gems are. steven is a little bit of punk, but that’s to be expected of coming-of-age main character like him. so far, these episodes are on the safe list.

steven universe surprise!

so a friend of mine has never seen steven universe before and i decided to marathon it with him! we’ve only gotten through a few episodes, but i wanted to document my thoughts as we keep watching.

for context, i have seen a lot of the show already. up to “kevin party” to be precise. and i have seen... quite a bit of the discourse for su. i’ll be honest, i’m not the biggest fan of the show. and i already know this show is going to land on the unsafe list. but it does have a weird li’l place in my heart. at one point it used to be my favorite cartoon! and some of the characters are still dear to me. but as the show went on and certain things happened, my opinion of the show has declined, sadly.

but i’m doing this to give the show a fair shake. to see what it’s done right and what it’s done... not so right. 

i’m going to try to keep this blog as drama-free as possible, but knowing how intense the discourse(tm) can get over this show, that might be a bit of a challenge. but i’ll do my best!
