rambling 👇
so this is based on a line of thought i was having earlier today about what would happen w these 2 after the events of the plot. (a quick summary: after the death of both of his parents (murder-suicide) dorian inherits their titles, and raven leverages the relationship they already have such that he's now completely emotionally dependent on her.)
and anyway the initial thought i had was. that he's become an enabler essentially (succeeding his parents in more ways than 1), just standing by and watching as raven terrorizes the people around them, bc atp he really only cares for + trusts her. and will actively use his power + influence to shield her from consequences.
but even w all that. wouldn't he still have to carry out the duties of his position???? whatever it is rich noblemen did back then. manage the local exports or some shit. have Serious Business meetings w other rich people, where he has to pretend to be an actual person and not just a dressed-up bundle of trauma.
this is what usually happens after those meetings.

#my art#digital art#artists on tumblr#my character#character: lucy#this took ~6.5 hrs total#mostly bc i went in and drew all those little patterns and details *by hand*#for absolutely no reason 😃#-- no but honestly i rly enjoy that sort of thing#just put on some music and get into the zone#and tbh it's hard to find good sources for the kinds of patterns and things that i want#or maybe i'm just bad at looking for them#either way i have this mentality of “i'm better off just doing it myself”#even if it takes way longer#bc i'd rather spend multiple hours trying to make something *exactly* how i want it#than spend all of 15 minutes looking up a plaid pattern and using the transform tool to make it fit#lmao.#n y'know it's actually kinda funny looking back on my old art#where i just Wasn't all that into inking#but nowadays i'm like. oops! all lineart!

she's p damn vital to the plot but i just don't put that much thought into how the characters look. i'd rather focus on the important things, like giving them all horrible trauma and then locking them in an enclosed space to see what happens

#my art#digital art#comics#artists on tumblr#eyestrain#my character#character: dorian#character: raven#anyway. if an explanation is needed:#they're having a convo + dorian (blue) casually mentions smth wrt his mom#that he doesn't realize is “unusual” until raven's like “🤨 concerning”#so he's trying to convince her that actually it's super normal!! *everyone* has an awful relationship w their mother! :)#except she actually has No relationship bc she was abandoned by her parents lol#(they couldn't afford another child + thought it'd be better for her as well if they gave her to a church)#(it was not.)#but.#while she ofc had a lot sadness + anger + confusion when she was younger#nowadays she just doesn't think abt it all that much#she's got other shit to worry abt 👍#and tbh she's only saying it to make him uncomfortable lol#anyway this (prolly) won't be an actual scene in the narrative#it's just a conversation that could 100% happen btwn them#don't ask why none of my characters have a good relationship w their parents :)
