just rough sketches lol, but Musashi and Kurita in the atla au verse that I drew a while ago here

again, not deeply thought out, but the gist is this:

Musashi (who appearance-wise really changes very little lol) is an earth bender, and his family owns a construction company like in canon. His family are historically from Ba Sing Se, but they moved to what would become Republic City due to the rapid industrialization happening there, and figured there were more opportunities for their business. Musashi is the only earth bender in his family and has largely only used it for that purpose, and because he has some talent in metal bending-- which gives them an edge with projects that require metal foundations-- he feels heavy obligation to his family and their business.

Kurita was raised an air acolyte. While his family are earth nation in origin, his father is very dedicated to the air acolyte lifestyle and thus raised his son with strict expectations. In many ways, the air acolyte philosophies spoke to Kurita, but in other ways he felt that he just didn't fit in, especially once it became clear that he was an earth bender. It also frustrated and discouraged that many air acolyte teachings seemed to hinder his earth bending. As he grew older, his father's strict expectations of him became too much, and he decided to pursue a solitary nomadic journey to try and figure out what sort of life he wanted to live.

The two of them end up in Republic City at the same time, which is of course where they would meet Hiruma....

I meant to finish this earlier lol, but there's been some.... distractions (🔥) but I've decided today that I'm happy enough with this that I'm gonna post it!

This is Hilda from the 1968 film, which in English is translated to "The Great Adventure of Horus, Prince of the Sun". I had the VHS as a kid but for the longest time I couldn't remember the title. But after some internet sleuthing I managed to find it last month and watched it on the Internet Archive! It was very nostlgic :')

Hilda is easily the highlight, and what I remember the most about. I could never figure out if she was evil or not, and turns out that's kind of the point of her character lol. Guess I have a thing for tortured souls with cursed amulets <3

MAN I wish the whole "you can now respond to comments and follow people using side blogs" feature existed back when I made this blog 🫠 I absolutely would have made this a side blog on my main account if that were the case-- logging in to a separate account entirely is always just enough of a pain that I'm never active on here except to occasionally drop off some art 😔

Forgive me as I'm apparently incapable of finishing an event piece on time, but this is my Eyeshield 21 Winter Gift Exchange for @taintedtaboo! They wanted Agon/Hiruma which I was very happy to recieve lol, though now that I look at this I guess it's not explicitly shippy at a glance, whoops. The idea is that this is supposed to be their shared apartment together sometime during uni!

Shout out to @eyeshields for organizing the event, and also to @deabruarenjarraitzaileaya-ha for always freaking out with me about agohiru <3

Now that I'm not actively working on it and can look at it with fresh eyes, I def don't like the colors of my last piece 😂 it's so... muddy, reminds me of foie gras in a bad way (is there a good way to be reminded of foie gras?)

I might go back and rework some things, the idea was for the colors to be an inverse of the Camellia piece, with the figures being primarily blue and the bg reddish in this one, and I used less saturated colors because I thought that would fit the vibe better (and also because that's always my first impulse FROM WHICH I MUST RESIST--)

Anyway. Just thinking 🫠
