I'm sure I'm not the first nor last person to make this post, but it's sad that new fans of The X-Files miss a lot of the cultural context of the show. It's worth noting that as a 10 year old in 1999, I wasn't allowed to watch the show, BUT I FOR SURE knew by heart the song "David Duchovny (Why Wont you Love Me?)" by Bree Sharp. It played on the radio constantly and the unofficial music video, well:
