Nine Inch Nails - “Head Like A Hole” - Pretty Hate Machine © 1989 TVT Music, Inc. Written by Trent Reznor GM Sequencing by Warren Rice, Seattle, WA.     I’ve provided both .MID and .WRK versions of this sequence.  The .WRK is a Cakewalk Professional 2.01 file and contains markers to help you follow along.    As percussion is a focal point for Trent’s work, a CONSIDERABLE amount of time was devoted to accuracy in the drum parts - on an Alesis SR-16 they sounded nearly indistinguishable from the original.  I then translated them to General Midi for distribution, but the limited drum selection in the General MIDI standard has forced me trade a bit of accuracy for maximum compatibility.  In spite of this minor drawback, the drums hold their own quite nicely.  Carefully varying the velocity on the individual drum parts has helped the percussion maintain a “human” feel.  One last note:  the drum intro sounds PUTRID on an Soundblaster if you only have FM synthesis, but blends in alright once the music starts.  I speculate that their new wavetable synthesis card should take care of this problem.   The synth parts, while not exact, are pretty close.  Since this is voiced for the SCC1, you may need to play with the voicings if you’re listening on another card.    As for the guitar parts, when they invent a decent guitar sound on a keyboard, I’ll be first at the store with cash in hand.  In short, I put the guitar part in for your pleasure.  General MIDI does not lend itself well to rock guitar.  When I’m listening to the sequence, I play the guitar part live.   Vocals are your responsibility.  If you want to add them, add them.  I didn’t want to turn a good song into Muzak by adding a synthesized vocal.    Well, I hope this is as enjoyable for you to hear as it was for me to create.  This is my first “complete” sequence I’ve created in General MIDI, and I assume after a short break I’ll create others.  If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, drop me an Email on AOL.    - WARRENR287

alternatively, if he is truly producing new music in a more official way like his conversations with fans in nj may suggest, wwwy would be a golden chance to promote his solo work especially since its only a one-night commitment im js
logic tells me that ryan has been trying to move on from panic! for 1.5 decades and doesn't seem the type to engage in the wave of nostalgia farming so he probably most likely won't be at wwwy.......but this is still the best chance and highest probability we've ever had of an early p!atd reunion since 2009
