🌈🏞 Southern Africa is one of the most unique and beautiful places in the world. . When we arrived, our guide welcomed us home because we all have deep roots in this valley. Footprints 👣 and fossils 💀 from some of our earliest human ancestors come from these stony cliffs. During the trip I read a book on the famous human (hominid) fossil discoveries from this area and how our extended time in Africa shaped who we’ve become as people. It’s incredible to think of the journey we’ve gone through from adapting to walk upright🚶🏻‍♂️to conserve energy, learning to build fires🔥to scare predators🦁and cook otherwise inedible foods 🥘, to building civilizations 🌃 and growing to a massive population of 7 billion people, which is a pretty impressive when considering our closest cousins chimpanzees number in only the few hundred thousands and yet their DNA is only about 4% different from ours. .
