Idea Two - Raffle Radar*
*Name still under construction
Overview
Scared of missing out on the next hot drop? With Raffle Radar you can enter all the raffles from each retailer all from the one place.
With retailers doing online raffles for limited clothes and footwear it can be a very frustrating task entering all these different raffles on each individual retailers site. Raffle Radar gives you a centralised hub where it will enter the raffles for all the retailers you select for the product you want saving all your shipping and payment information on the app it self and rather than supplying that to each individual retailer.
Pros
Massive help to the retailers. Allowing people not to give up half way through a raffle form for a particular retailer which takes the business away from that retailer.
If there is a product you really want it can be massively time consuming signing up on raffle forms. Having a generic form you do once for each raffle/retailer makes things a lot easier on the user
Cons
Getting the retailers on board.
“New app fear.” I heard about this term recently that a lot of people wont put sensitive details into an app thats not a big name brand (makes sense).
How it might be built?
I believe that mobile/tablet may be the best outcome for this product but believe it also can be done in a website or progressive web application so i think covering all of these grounds will be the best idea. I will be creating prototypes on Figma with the possibility of the application build using Flutter.
Who is it for?
Two main target markets spring to my mind for this product. Firstly anyone who enjoys owning or wearing limited clothing or streetwear. Streetwear sprung to fame in the 90s but is now one of the biggest styles of casual clothing with major brands teaming up with streetwear and skate brands such as Supreme.
Secondly, resellers. Resellers are people who purchase these products high end or limited products for their retail price and resell them on sites such as StockX for a much higher price tag.
What’s the business model?
Another free application with a premium membership. Premium can potentially give you more sign ups for the raffle giving you a better chance of getting the product.
Again another great application for inline adverts. Having the partnered retailers run adverts and promotions on the application is another way of generating income on the product.

Idea One - The Beer Bible*
*Name still under construction
Overview
An application for all things beer. Keep track, rate and try beers from all over the world.
I’ve always been a fan of trying new beers, especially when travelling and with the craft beer scene only getting bigger each year with more home brews popping up its hard to remember what you've tried or what you want to try!
With The Beer Bible* you can keep track of beer you have tried or have been meaning to try! Get reviews from all over the world and rate your favourite beers!
Use your camera and AR technology to gain quick information on a beer you are currently drinking!
Pros
Allows smaller breweries or home brewers to promote their products and gain international feedback on their range of products.
Gives users a central location to purchase products directly from the brewery.
Cons
Alcohol related app means there will be an age restriction on the application which limits the traffic to who can download the application.
Potential promotion of binge drinking - potentially wanting to drink more often to unlock more app content
How it might be built?
Primarily the application will be used as a native mobile application as it will be focusing on using AR technology. This can also be used on tablet but for the users experience will be much easier on mobile.
As the product is fundamentally a database why not use it as that also. I want to create a pairing website which is used just as a “beer lookup” on desktop.
I will be bringing this prototype to live using mostly Figma but will also be looking at Unity as well as Adobe After Effects for some of the AR work i have mentioned.
Who is it for?
I think The Beer Bible* is great because it can be used by anyone who is over the legal drinking age in their respected country and can be for anyone who follows a passion of trying new beers. Even for someone who drinks on occasion and always has the same order can find the application useful to know more information on the beer they always drink. This is also for the brewers. Using The Beer Bible* will help promote and finesse their products for future brews. Will also start to build a communities and encourage others to start home brewing.
What’s the business model?
Of course the application will be downloaded as a free application but like all modern day applications and idea of a premium membership or subscription service would tie along with it. My idea is to potentially team up with breweries each month and send a subscription box of beer, potentially a free t shirt etc to each premium subscriber. As well as that, premium members will get access to other in app features.
Using adverts also to gain revenue will be prime for an application like this. Allowing breweries, pubs or snack products to run adverts inline with content on the application (like instagram) will both benefit me and the product that is being promoted.

3 Ideas
I think im in a small minority where i knew exactly what I wanted to do for my major project.
I had touched on this idea in 2nd year but never really brought it to its full potential. With a years experience under my belt i feel like i can do my idea justice.
Of course i have some back up ideas incase things go wrong or others think im going the wrong way with things.
Chris has set us a task to put together a brief write up on our best 3 ideas using the structure below:
Overview
Pros and Cons
How might it be built?
Who’s it for?
What’s the business model?
We have been arranged into small groups where we can ounce feedback of our peers as well as Chris to point each person in the right direction with for example features of the product that is being created.

Back in Business.
Can not believe it’s been over a year since last in the uni studio. This past year has flew in but i guess time flies when you're having fun. I have spent the last year working at Kraydel creating waves in the Agetech industry. I am looking forward to be helping Kraydel out throughout this year part time.
I dont think i can put in to words how beneficial this placement year has been but now i am feeling ready for the year ahead of uni, even if its from the comfort of our own homes.

Black and white take the win
I changed my mind 456733284724 times about going with coloured photos or black and white photos.
I wanted to give the impression of an online styled photo album with this site and believe black and white works with the styling.

SmartMenus.js
Instant resposive nav bar solutions.
Used smart menus before with my portfolio site, brilliant script for creating animations for fullscreen nav.
I the roamed codepen for different options for fullscreen navigation on a live site and found a few options.

Swiper.js
Before finishing my prototype I wanted to look at how I was going to make my slide features work live.
I came across swiper.js. I had used slide.js before but I didn't think it would work for what I was wanting to do, plus it was very fiddly in some points. I watched some youtube videos about using just CSS transitions but again it seemed more fiddley.
After 2/3 tutorials on slider.js, i was pretty up to speed on how it works, genuinely it does everything for you.

Mocking it up in Xd.
I am now a real lover of Adobe Xd. Instead of using sketch or illustrator I jumped straight into Xd, and was able to prototype my ideas as I went with the design process.

Noto Serif
I wanted a body copy that would complement my h1, Playfair Display.
The choice was among a lot of options, but I think when I mocked everything up, Noto Serif was definitely the one I was drawn back to.

Playfair Display, the font of dreams
After scrapping my old style idea with the font, I wanted something that wouldn't look out of place on modern style design and an older style design of a site.
I will be using this font as my h1 across my site.

Wouldnt be another semester without me on Awwwards.com.
I had a look at newspaper inspired websites, looking at the typography and colour palette of the sites.
A lot of them were based on very old fashioned style newspapers, I was looking for more of something new. I did manage to find a nice use of colours from
http://www.wearesurvivalmachines.com/
Used a small touch of colour which really stood out against the black and white hue.

Sherlock Revised - Starting over
So after getting feedback on my prototype, I decided on a change of layout for my site. I want to achieve something modern, but in a bit of an old style, does that make sense?
Wanting to keep the entire site black and white but with some outbursts of colour. Almost like a newspaper style.
