It’s insane to me how ableist the pjo fandom is. They’ll casually be saying that the demigods don’t have ‘real’ disabilities because they got it from being children of the gods, even though a lot of disabilities and disorders are genetic. This is partially to blame with how Rick wrote it (the first book came out in 2005 or so, so I give him the benefit of the doubt), but he also clearly wrote it better as time went on and showed how the schools failed characters like Percy, Leo, Hazel, etc. because of their neurodivergence and disabilities.

would love it if the last god/goddess percy has to do a quest for is hestia. and all she only asks of him a simple, easy-to-do, done in two minutes task. and then that's it. no tricks or double meanings. and he just sobs into her shoulder at the end of it. and she just holds him and tells him that he's all done. he can go live his life now.

I was rereading The Lightning Thief and remembered something

Literally in the first 60 pages, before we even meet Luke, we get Luke and Percy parallels. If you remember, when Percy is being nursed back to health, he tastes his Mom’s freshly homemade blue cookies. And what do we have with Luke? A home waiting for him, with his mother repeatedly making burnt cookies that he’ll never get.
