“Mashach” Oil on aluminium composite. Around 8x12" The writings found in Old Testament scripture have always created such moving imagery in my mind as I've read through the many pages of poetry and song. One of my many ideas has been to see what comes out when I try bring to picture these concepts, principles and teachings. This one is the first of many hopefully.

My painting "Play Fight" Oil on Aluminium Composite panel 60x80cm (roughly 23.5x31.5 inches) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I've been working on these zebras since May 2018 - not solidly though - commissions, other smaller works and moving continents have delayed these getting finished. But I finally got them done and I'm pretty pleased with how they turned out. 

Wildlife, and in particular, African wildlife has always been close to my heart having grown up in South Africa and experienced some incredible encounters in the wild thanks to my uncle who is an incredible ranger and conservationist and my parents who were always keen to encourage us to enjoy nature. Moving back to South African in 2018 and finding myself in the Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park outside Durban surrounded by the wild again stirred something of a desire to revisit my first love and what got me painting as a teenager. I saw these two zebra having a go at each other and so took a few photos of the action which later then turned into reference images for this painting.

A Tribute Painting of Siya Kolisi, Captain of the South African "Springboks” Rugby Team. Siya’s story is one of hope, determination, never give up persistence and one outlined by faith. I chose to pay tribute to the man after he lead his team to a 3rd World Cup victory for South Africa.
