KAGEYAMA TOBIO ౨ৎ
kageyama would be so awkward
i feel like he'd be the type of person to put so much thought into it to make ure it's absolutely perfect and make it tomewhat unforgettable. he's a very determined person, on and off court, so think he'd approach the first kiss in the same manner.
but then again, he's awkward. the days he spent planning to get it right going to complete waste due to his nerves, and he's barely able to mutter out a complete sentence.
the sun set long ago, and the sound of cicadas and screeching of sneakers from inside the gym were the noises y/n heard. it was almost a daily routine for the freshly new couple to walk home together. y/n would wait outside with a couple of snacks for the both of them, he'd take his share and walk them home while occasionally rubbing his hand against their own, then they'd go their separate ways for the night.
usually they'd engage in a casual conversation discussing their day, but kageyama had been oddly silent throughout most of the walk. "are you okay?" they questioned after a long time of awkward silence. kageyama simply nodded while continuing to look at his feet as they walked. y/n thought maybe he was stressed about practice or an upcoming tournament, his face looked like he was going to hurl.
they finally arrived at y/n's residence and turned to face each other to say their final goodbyes for the night, but kageyama still couldn't keep eye contact. he fiddled with his hands as his eyes darted everywhere but them. "are you sure you're okay?" they questioned again, a look of pure concern jow stitched onto their face. kageyama had spent days planning this, weeks even it now that the moment has come every detail of his well-prepared plan slipped his mind.
all he could think of was just how beautiful y/n looked with the shine of the moonlight slightly glistening on them.
"i- uh." he started, but anything he wanted to say couldn't leave his mouth. deciding not to waste any more time, kageyama grabs onto their shoulders and pulls them in, pressing his lips on the soft plush of heirs. he didn't even give them a second to respond before pulling away and running his way back home, leaving y/n in utter state of shock.
".. i'll see you tomorrow?!" she yelled. but it didn't seem to reach the ears of the raven- haired boy who had already turned the corner.
TSUKISHIMA KEI ౨ৎ
tsukishima would attempt, keyword attempt, to be nonchalant about it.. but the blush on his face says otherwise!
tsukki is known for being relatively emotionally distant and tends to use sarcastic humor as a way to hide it.
i think that'd he would use this humor during the kiss to deter away from the fact that he's showing his more soft/vulnerable side
"oi, pay attention," tsukishima teased as he gently tapped y/n's head with the pen he held in his hand. "the answer is practically right in front of you." the two sat on the floor of tsukishima's bedroom, studying for an upcoming exam in the subject y/n struggled in the most: math.
y/n groaned and leaned back until their back hit the floor, running their hands all over their face in agony. "i hate this! i don't wanna do it anymore!" they complained once more for what tsukishima felt was the hundredth time. he rolled his eyes at his partner's behavior, grabbing their hand and lifting them to make them sit back up.
"it's not that bad, you're just not trying." he retorted. y/n pouted at their boyfriend's words and slouched as he continued to go on and on about the lesson in front of them. but as he kept talking, the sound of his words was completely drowned out and all they could think about was how pretty he looked right now
he was wearing a hoodie that y/n finally returned to him, sweatpants, and talking about whatever blah blah blah nonsense he was saying. they always did find intelligent men attractive. the thought was sudden, but now that they thought about kissing him it wouldn't leave their mind.
tsukishima was still distracted from explaining the lesson to them to notice that they were crawling towards him until he felt a hand touch his cheek. he looked up with a raised brow, and before he could even react y/n was pressing their lips against his.
tsukishima stared at them almost wide-eyed after they pulled away. "tuh, what was that?" he muttered before looking down at the papers sprawled on the ground. it may have sounded like he didn't care, but the redness on his face and the tips of his ears gave it away.
AKAASHI KEIJI ౨ৎ
the calmest of them all honestly.
i don't think he'd pre-plan like kageyame but he would choose the perfect setting and itd turn out amazingly. i think he'd be the type of partner to read his s/o's ody language perfectly.
akaashi would make it a comfortable situation for both him and his partner while never being too brash nor too nervous.
the serene, dimly lit surrounding followed by the soft blue hue of the water provided for an instant relaxation upon y/n and akaashi. the two walked hand in hand as they explored the aquarium, looking at all the cute fishies and the rest of the sea animals. y/n always had a keen interest in these type of exhibits. the ocean was always intriguing to them and they made this well known.
akaashi took this opportunity to bring them to a nice aquarium in tokyo. it was small, but that didn't matter. akaashi was okay with anything as long as they were there too. "are you having fun?" he asked them softly. their eyes were practically stars as they continued to observe every corner of the aquarium, and he couldn't fight the small smile that stretched onto his face.
his question goes unheard as y/n takes in the view of everything, running to the fish eye tank they spotted feets away. akaashi chuckled slightly as he followed closely behind them and eventually took a seat beside them. "it's pretty, isn't it?" they murmured as they stared off into the tank, but akaashi's eyes never left their figure "it's gorgeous."
y/n turned to face him, and his cerulean eyes bore into theirs as he gazed at them lovingly. "what?" they asked. but akaashi said nothing and shook his head. he softly cupped their face and pulled them in as he leaned in to meet in a kiss. it was tender and slow but it was enough to show how much akaashi truly cared for them.
SUNA RINTARŌ ౨ৎ
another one that is extremely calm
similar to akaashi, i don't think he'd pre- plan. however, he'd do it more spontaneously. maybe his body reacts before his mind does while he presses his lips against yours.
i think he'd also tease similarly to tsukishima, but a bit more dialed down.
suna crashed onto his bed as he kicked his shoes off and rested his forearm on his forehead, y/n-also kicking off their shoes and crashing next to him. the pair had an extremely long and tiring day at school, and a nap was very much needed. they both turned on their sides to face each other, their eyes threatening to close.
"i'm so tired." y/n mumbled. suna couldn't even utter a sentence, he simply nodded while his blinks slowly got longer and longer. he grabbed y/n by the waist and pulled them into his chest, tucking his face away in the crook of their neck. his hold on them tightens as he feels their small exhales on his neck. "so am i." he finally spoke.
suna and y/n would always take naps together. but today was different. the stress suna had from volleyball practice and the one y/n had from studies, the two could go into hibernation right now and not wake up for months if they could. but it was impossible, so for now they just enjoyed the warm embrace of the other.
they both stretched and entangled their limbs together as they got ready to take a nap. y/n closed their eyes and was on the verge of slipping into slumber before they felt a small press against their lips. opening their eyes abruptly, they see suna staring back at them with a sly smirk on his face. ".. what was that?" they uttered with their eyebrows furrowed in disbelief.
"a kiss silly," suna teased. "you looked so cute i couldn't help myself." the two just stared at each other, blinking slowly waiting for the other to say something "why?" they asked confused. it was such a random place to have their first kiss. but suna simply shrugged. "i don't know." he answered.
"..wanna do it again?"
"sure."
IWAIZUMI HAJIME ౨ৎ
this man will be straight up and not hesitate.
i think iwa would be more abrupt. like you guys would just be talking and all of a sudden he's smashing his lips onto yours. he wouldn't doing it harshly though. in a very firm but gentle way.
he'd do it based on his gus instinct. if he elt that it was the right place and time to have your guys' first kiss, then it's right.
the gymnasium boomed with thunderous cheers and claps as the final blow of the whistle sounded. aoba johsai had made it to nationals. as the team came to embrace each other on the court, iwaizumi scanned the crowd, looking for that one familiar face. as they made eye contact, he could see y/n standing there looking down at him with a bright smile on their face as they screamed joyously.
5 minutes later, the team exits through the doors of the gym to the hallway, and iwazumi is met with the sight of his partner standing right in front of him with open arms. he rushed over to them, grabbing them by their thighs and lifting them in the air as y/n squealed in surprise. "i'm so proud of you!" they praised.
iwaizumi put them down and hugged them tightly while breathing heavily, still out of breath from the intense match not long ago. his face was tucked securely into the crook of their neck as he swayed them both side to side. "thank you." he murmured into the skin. y/n couldn't fight the tears welling up in their eyes as the amount of pride they held in their boyfriend was too much
but before they could react, iwaizumi was pulling away and smashing his lips into theirs, y/n letting out a surprised squeal before melting away in the kiss. his calloused hands caressed their face as he poured all of his passion into it.
KUROO TETSURŌ ౨ৎ
he would be extremely confident during the first kiss.
kuroo is calculated. this helps with his self- assurance and the way he initiates/reacts during the kiss. he would start off by lightly teasing his partner before initiating the kiss.
he is also highly observant, and is able o read his s/o's body language in the same way akaashi does.
a first date at the science museum seemed ike an odd pick. but for kuroo and y/n there couldn't be anything more perfect. as the two walk hand in hand, they both drag each other to different parts of the exhibit and list off random facts that weren't listed on the descriptions
"it's fascinating, isn't it?" kuroo said. he was intrigued with the 3D model of kinetic energy that was presented in front of him. y/n couldn't help but admire how eager their boyfriend was. both of them had an interest in science, but kuroo's beat hers by a long shot.
they couldn't help but trail their eyes over his face, taking in the smaller details. like the wrinkles in the corner of his eyes, the way his eyes sparkled when he was doing something he liked, everything was admirable. and his lips slightly glistened and they couldn't help but wonder what his lips would feel like on theirs,
kuroo noticed this, of course. how could he not? he couldn't ignore the feeling of their eyes on the side of his face and the way they'd fiddle with their fingers as they continued to observe every inch of his face except for the views in front of them. if it was anyone else, he would've been annoyed. but y/n? he found it endearing kuroo turned to her and chuckled as they tensed when he caught them staring. "do you want to kiss me?" he asked abruptly, teasing them softly.
their eyes widen as their muscles tense up, stuttering out mutters explaining how they weren't staring but kuroo didn't buy it. he continued to tease them as he stepped closer, grabbing the back of their head softly without them even noticing. kuroo connected their lips, blurring out their surroundings. in his mind, it was just him and his lover sharing their first of many more.

the soft glow of the candlelight flickered across the room as the two lay together with their limbs intertwined. a comfortable silence filled the room as neither of them spoke.
his calloused hand caressed over the delicate features of their face, and in return they traced their hand over his. the sound of their matched breaths, the rhythm of their heartbeats, it was all they needed to feel as if they'd sink into each other's skin.
the simple warmth of each other's company was enough for all of their problems to wash away momentarily.
as the two lovers stared into one another's eyes, it seemed as time had stood still and that they were the only people on earth. the bubble that they've made felt like a sanctuary.
at that moment they knew, no matter what would happen they'd always have each other.
and everything would be okay.

O SOL E A LUA
k. kazuha
Tumblr media Tumblr media
kazuha x fem!reader 🎀
"the sun and the moon." where two star-crossed lovers gaze upon with stars with one another. no distractions, no barriers, just each other.
lowercase intended
word count: 646
content: star-crossed lovers, angst, short drabble, fluff if you squint, hidden relationship
Tumblr media
what is the definition of love?
love is to have an intense feeling of deep affection, for someone or something. it's a bond that deepens the connection you have with another and are able to understand each other boundlessly.
when you love someone, all you want to do is be with said person.
they infiltrate your thoughts, your mind, and your heart. then maybe in the end, you'll get a happily ever after.
but for y/n and kazuha, it was not the case.
though they loved each other deeply, it will never be meant to be. no matter how hard they tried, no matter how hard they fought, no matter what lifetime.
it was never, and will never, be meant to be.
however, they still try. the doomed couple laid upon the itchy grass, gazing up at the millions of stars stretched across the galaxy.
the soft sounds of their breath correlating with each other and waves crashing below them were the only noises that could be heard excluding the occasional wind and buzzing insects.
the two hadn't spoken in a quite a bit. they decided that soft, intimate touches were enough to fill the solace moment.
“you know, we are kind of like the sun and the moon.” kazuha spoke, his voice croaky from have going so long without speaking.
it was so sudden. y/n looked over at him to meet his eyes, but his red orbs were still locked onto the sky.
“what makes you say that?” y/n asked.
kazuha softly looked over at her as their eyes finally met, his filled with admiration and hers mirroring his.
“well.. it makes sense, doesn't it?” he responded. kazuha inched himself impossibly closer to y/n, wanting to practically stitch his skin with hers so they'd never be apart again. “have you heard the tale of the sun and the moon?”
she nodded as she played with the hand that kazuha placed softly on her face. “they loved each other. but because of their differences, they can't be together.” she replied.
kazuha sighed. “we are the reincarnation of the sun and the moon. born to be apart, but made to love each other.” his eyebrows furrowed in sorrow, then the two broke eye contact to look upon the stars once again.
it sucked. being so infatuated with one person but knowing the odds of you being together are from 1 to 100.
it physically hurt. the type of hurt that makes you clench your chest to make the pain stop, but nothing would ever make it go away.
“but what about the eclipse?”
“huh?” kazuha muttered.
“the solar eclipse.” y/n repeated as she sat up because the itchy grass was finally becoming a bother. “when the sun and the moon finally meet. it doesn't last for long, but it's finally their time to be together.”
kazuha smiled. it was a bittersweet smile, but it still managed to light up y/n's glossy moonlit eyes.
“hopefully one day we'll become the eclipse. i will count the days until we meet again, even if it's for an eternity.”
their foreheads barely grazed each other's as they stared lovingly into one another's eyes. both of them glossed over; not of sadness, but with a sense of serendipity.
maybe this was meant to happen. maybe there was a reason that the universe didn't want them to stay together.
“so.. until our eclipse?”
“.. yes, my love. until our eclipse.”
y/n and kazuha knew. they knew they'd never get their happily ever after. but that didn't matter at this moment.
what mattered is that they had each other now. although if it's not for long, they're able to love each other deeply.
even if it's just for now.

THE WARMTH OF US

gojo x fem!reader 🎀
the first rays of sunlight beamed through the curtains of the bedroom. it was a gentle reminder to seize the day and be productive. but satoru and his wife find themselves in a sweet entanglement, too full of each other to get out of bed.
lowercase intended
word count: 394
content: established relationship, fluff, suggestive themes but no smut short drabble
Tumblr media
it was the early hours of the morning. the only sounds heard was the wind softly gushing through the cracked window and the chatter of children making their way to school.
by this time, either satoru or y/n would've been up by now. either making breakfast or getting changed to start the day. but neither of them wanted to leave the comfort of one another.
however, they never got up.
the plush of the blankets and pillows were just too comforting. and the air was infused with a sense of tranquil and a haven of serenity. the couple of 5 years intertwined their limbs together, satoru softly caressed her face and y/n softly played with his hair. the coldness of their wedding bands could've made anyone flinch, butthey didn't care.
“you're so beautiful.” he muttered quietly, but loud enough for her to hear. a small but tired smile climbed onto her face while she nuzzled herself impossibly closer to him.
y/n tugged his hair gently and massaged his scalp. “hm, really? i just woke up though.”
satoru pouted and shook his head, his white hair falling in front of his eyes. “that doesn't matter. you're always beautiful to me.”
he grabs her waist and pushes himself closer to her, leaving small trails of kisses down her exposed neck. their naked bodies were pressed up against each other, still unclothed from the night before.
“we need to get up soon. we have work.” y/n reminded him and satoru groaned, rubbing a hand on his forehead as he was remember that he was an adult and has responsibilities.
“5 more minutes?”
“baby, you said 5 more minutes an hour ago.”
he sat up and lifted her onto his lap, tucking her head into the crook of his neck. “just 5 more.”they once again wrap themselves in each other's warm embrace. the sun now brightly shining in the room, carrying a subtle, comforting scent of familiarity.
maybe it was the tiredness that was getting to them, but they both wanted to melt into each other's skin, and stay there for an eternity.
“hey, y/n?”
“yeah?”
“i love you.”
he presses his forehead against hers and gives her a soft kiss. she smiles as her eyes glisten with joy.
“i love you too.”

IN WHICH: Yuji requests spending Valentine's Day together, but it isn't a date, right?...right?
pairing: Yuji x oblivious reader
tropes: friends to lovers, mutual pining, idiots in love, fluff, small angst
song to play: valentine by laufey
word count: 3, 108
warnings: annoyed nobara, judgemental megumi, gojo being a annoying, swearing
a/n: i was supposed to upload this on the 14th but i was super busy that week so IGNORE THAT. ALSO!! this was SUPPOSED to be an oblivious reader au but it i wrote as if they were in denial so...ENJOY ANYWAY!!
: 𓏲🌷 ๋࣭  ࣪ ˖✩࿐࿔ 🎀𖦹ִ ࣪
Japan has always been so beautiful during spring. It’s February, and the flowers are in bloom. Young love has also begun to blossom around the school. It is Valentine’s Day, and there is a great deal of chocolates, bouquets, letters, and love confessions. Everyone seemed to have someone to spend the day with except you.
Nobara usually spends the day with you, but plans changed this year. “Maki and I have a cute date. This is gonna be our first Valentine together!” She swooned, and you groaned, dropping your head onto the desk.
Megumi plopped himself down next to you. “What’s wrong with them?”
“They don’t want to spend today alone.” Nobara rolled her eyes at your antics. “Oh!” She aggressively patted Megumi’s shoulders as an idea appeared, earning a glare. “Why don’t you keep them company, Megs?”
“I wish to spend today alone. Gojo is making me go see a new movie that came out. Said he needed ‘emotional support’. Geto needs to stop playing and get him off my back.” It was Megumi’s turn to groan now.
Yuji entered the classroom to see his two sulking friends with their heads hung low and a disappointed Nobara. It was similar to when he would get scolded by Nanami. He shivered at the memory.
“Uh, what is happening?” He cautiously stepped closer to his friends. Nobara poked at the moping duo to get up, but no one budged. “They’re being whiny.”
“Spending the day alone is fine, but I’ve always wanted someone to spend it with. Receiving flowers, a cute note, and overall just being wanted by someone.” Your words were completely muffled but understood nonetheless, receiving a comforting pat on the head from Nobara. “You will.”
You finally looked at her, “Oh, yeah? who?”
“Me.”
“HUH?!” They all simultaneously broke their necks to look at the pinkette. Even Megumi snapped out of his grief to gape at him. Nobara was flabbergasted, to say the least. Megumi? speechless. But, when wasn’t he? Yuji ignored the astonished stares of the room and focused on your gaze instead. “I was thinking since we’re both free, I was wondering if…” Yuji nervously stuffed his hands in his pockets before continuing, “You’d spend the day with me?”
As they looked at each other, time seemed to slow down, and Nobara's retorts were completely ignored. You started to think about what today meant and how nice it would be to be part of it with a person like Yuji. He has always been kind to you, flashing the sweetest smile your way when he sees you. His presence was welcoming, and you couldn’t help but feel at home. Plus, you were friends, so why wouldn’t you agree?
“Pick me up at my dorm?” A grin spread across his face, eyes twinkling. “I’ll see you at 5 o’clock then.”
After Yuji left, Nobara and Megumi’s eyes were boring into you. You furrowed your brows at them, shifting uncomfortably in your seat. “What?”
“Dude…Yuji just asked you out on a date!” She exclaimed, shaking your shoulders in excitement.
“Quit it, Bara! He did not! We’re just hanging out as friends.” She stared at you blankly as if saying, ‘You’re fucking joking, right?’
You looked to Megumi for support, but he just shook his head judgementally as if he was telepathically calling you an idiot. He was.
: 𓏲🌷 ๋࣭  ࣪ ˖✩࿐࿔ 🎀𖦹ִ ࣪
“Oh my god, how many times do I have to tell you that it’s not a date?”
“Until you stop being stupid.”
It was 4:57, and you were currently being pestered by Nobara on the phone while getting ready for your date hang out with Yuji. Nobara was propped up on your vanity while you were doing your makeup, “We’re just two friends hanging out on Valentine’s Day. If he wanted to ask me out on a date, he would’ve worded it differently.”
The girl on the other line stayed silent, considering it and understanding your point. But, she knew Yuji. You may not have noticed, but she had seen how differently he treated you compared to them.
He was normally very friendly and playful towards them but it was different with you. He often joked, but she noticed how he would always look at you first. When you’re sick, he’s the first one at your door with medicine and soup. Even during the times when you cling to him after he gets injured during one of his missions, his top priority is to comfort you and wipe the tears of worry off your face.
Nobara had been friends with him long enough to know that he hid his emotions very well. He was never the open type, but Nobara could always tell how he felt.
And from the look in his eyes earlier when you agreed, Yuji really thought he finally had you. Her heart ached for him, but she knew he had to tell you himself.
“Listen, Y/n, Yuji may seem to have it together, but he has never been good with his words and makes up for it with his actions. So, keep that in mind, okay?”
There had been a knock on your door at the moment. You said your goodbyes to Nobara before hanging up. You checked yourself out in the mirror to make sure everything was in place. After fixing your hair and spritzing some perfume, you open to door and are greeted by a beaming Yuji holding a bouquet of…pink paper tulips?
“I made these for you.” He held them out to you, and you could feel your heart pounding at the sweet gesture. You reached out to take them, your hands accidentally brushing, causing the two of you to flinch away from the contact. Two hearts pounding in unison.
Yuji laughed awkwardly and scratched the back of his neck, eyes looking everywhere but at you. When he did finally look at you, a blush crept up his face as he silently marveled at your outfit.
“You look really pretty, Y/n.” Your brain short-circuited at that moment.
It’s not a date. It’s not a date. It’s not a date.
“Thank…thank you, you look pretty too.” Wait, can you say that? No clue.
Yuji laughed genuinely at your compliment and extended his arm to you. “Ready?”
: 𓏲🌷 ๋࣭  ࣪ ˖✩࿐࿔ 🎀𖦹ִ ࣪
Yuji mentioned that the place he wanted to take you was pretty far, so you had to take a train, which you obliged to. Knowing him, you expected him to make this a fun experience for you because that was just the kind of person he was. What you hadn’t expected was a packed train.
The train is usually filled with children, parents, businessmen, elders, etc. So, it was no surprise that it was particularly crammed today. You and Yuji maneuvered through the crowd, attempting to find a secluded area or an available seat. Thankfully, you did.
Unfortunately, there was only one spot was left.
The two of you bickered back and forth about who would take the seat. Yuji insisted you take it, but you stubbornly argued he should instead.
“You can take it. I can stand.”
“No, I’ll stand, and you sit.”
In the end, Yuji wound up taking the seat, but with you in his lap.
His hands were snug where they were wrapped around your waist, his head resting comfortably on your shoulder. You felt how fast his heart was thumping against your back despite his calm demeanor. You leaned against him because you couldn’t deny how nice it felt to be held by him. He was so warm and smelled so good, and you honestly couldn't think about anything else but the boy that clung to you.
This isn’t a date. This isn’t a date, This isn’t a date. He’s just being nice—
“Are you okay with this?”
Yes.
Definitely.
Absolutely.
You placed your hands over him as a way to reassure him that you were okay and trusted him. He silently nodded his head and relished in the moment of being able to be this close to you. You consumed him; your body radiated a type of warmth that not even the sun could provide him. Everything about you was just lovely. The sweet scent of your perfume and the honeyed fragrance of the shampoo in your hair was heavenly to him. Whether this time with you had a positive outcome or not, he was just happy to be with you. Having you in his arms like this was one of the best things to happen today.
“Yuji?” He acknowledged you with a hum, the vibrations thrumming against your back like the train rumbling around them. “Where exactly are we going?”
He adjusted his grip on you and thought for a moment, trying to decide whether he should tell you or not, and you could mentally picture the mischievous grin on his face as he said, “You’ll see when we get there.”
You peeked over to glare at him, “You’re really not gonna tell me?”
“’Course not.”
I’m gonna beat the shit out of him.
: 𓏲🌷 ๋࣭  ࣪ ˖✩࿐࿔ 🎀𖦹ִ ࣪
Yuji currently had his hands over your eyes, leading you to god knows where. No matter how often you poked and probed at him, he refused to relent.
“Just tell me, please?! One hint?”
“No.”
You groaned and blindly followed his lead, literally. The tepid spring breeze caressed your skin softly, and you listened to the swaying of the trees as you felt something prickle at your bare legs. The more you walked, the more you started to realize you were stepping on grass.
The wind blew harder, and you felt a wisp of a feather-like touch against your cheek. The suspense and secrecy were killing you. “Yuji, where are we—”
“Okay, we’re here.”
He removed his hands from your face, and your words immediately died in your throat. You were standing in a field of cherry blossom trees. You have never seen such a sight like this before. The meadow was covered in scarlet and ivory corolla, and you drank it all.
In the center of it all, there lay a single pink blanket and a picnic basket. There was a wide spread of all your favorite foods and desserts. Your mouth watered at the sight of the decorative cupcakes, cookies, drinks, fruits, and sandwiches.
“You did all this?!” You gawked, eyes flickering between the display and your friend.
“Well…I made the food and organized the setup...in way.”
You and Yuji plopped down on the duvet. You picked up a cupcake with a sloppily frosted heart on top and took a bite.
You suspiciously eyed Yuji. “Did you make these?”
“Yeah, why?”
“Because your pipe work is shit.” You laughed while Yuji threw you a look. You remember a time when he attempted to make your birthday cake for a surprise party the group had planned. To say the least, it was a mess because the letters looked like a child scribbled on them. You recall the look on Nobara’s and Megumi’s faces and smiled at the memory. Even though he’s not great in the kitchen, you can tell that everything he made today was prepared with a certain fondness.
You and Yuji spent the rest of your time eating and talking. The atmosphere was pleasant. Aside from all the flowers that surrounded you, you could feel something blooming in your chest the more time you spent with him.
From an outsider's point of view, you resembled a couple. How close you two were sitting, the longing looks, the light graze of fingers, and even the way you were finding excuses to feed each other.
You bit into a chocolate-covered strawberry and savored the deliciously sweet flavor. “Here.” You plucked another one off the plate and held it before Yuji’s lips. “Try this.”
He wasn’t a huge fan of chocolate, but who was he to turn away from being fed a strawberry by his crush? A fool, that’s what. He leaned forward and took a small bite, chewing slowly and trying not to gag from the taste.
You looked at him expectantly, eyes sparkling under the sunlight. “Do you like it?”
He gave you a quivered smile, causing you to burst out in a fit of laughter and hand him a napkin. “You can spit it out.” Yuji stubbornly shook his head and swallowed. Whether he liked it or not, he would eat whatever you gave him.
“Yuji…you didn’t have to eat it.” You wiped off a chunk of chocolate on the corner of his mouth.
He cleared his throat awkwardly, trying to suppress the blush forming on his face. He failed.
He looked at you with an unreadable expression. An expression you’ve never seen on his face before. It was almost…serious. “I had to. I’ve never made a habit of denying you, Y/n.”
Your brows furrowed at that. You were never good at reading people. Especially people like Yuji. You weren’t sure if there was a hidden meaning behind his statement. Yes, he always tried to indulge in your interests and let you ramble about your latest fixation. But what did he mean by “deny you”?
You were about to ask when you felt a sudden drip on your head. Grey clouds suddenly loomed over you, casting a shadow over you and Yuji. Tiny droplets turned into a downpour, completely drenching you and your perfect picnic.
The two of you ran to take cover under one of the cherry blossom trees. It didn’t help much, but it lessened the impact of the rain. You watched from a distance as your food got completely destroyed. You could feel how the mood had shifted. The look on Yuji’s face confirmed that.
“I am so sorry.” His apology left you at a loss for words.
“What are you sorry for?” You softly asked.
He didn’t look at you as he said, “I didn’t check the weather. I would’ve brought an umbrella if I did. I completely ruined this date. I wanted to make this a memorable day for you.”
His words struck. You quickly turned to him at his dejection and wanted nothing more than to provide comfort. But there were so many things scrambling through your mind at the moment that you had no idea what to focus on. The fact that Yuji had confirmed this was a date. The fact that he felt he had ruined everything when it was the complete opposite. Or the fact that he had thought about this so carefully because he wanted to make you happy. You couldn’t believe he thought of himself as a failure when you felt so lucky to have him.
“Yuji I…”
“I spent an hour making all that food. I had to remake those cupcakes four times because I kept burning them, and now they’re soaked. I was never much a baker, but I did it for you.”
“Yuji…” You tried again.
Except, he didn’t hear you. He watched as the bouquet he gave you earlier wilt under the rainfall. His fists and jaw clenched, he said, “You know, that bouquet took hours to make. I practically burned my fingers multiple times because of the glue gun I used, but I knew it was worth it because I wanted to give you something that wasn’t temporary. Flowers die so fast, and I knew how much you loved them, so I made sure they would last forever and the rain ruined it—”
“Yuji!” Your hands cupped his face, forcing him to look at you. “I loved everything you did today. I loved the flowers, I loved the picnic, and god, I loved being with you. I wouldn't have had it any other way.” It was hard to maintain eye contact due to the droplets constantly getting your line of vision, but Yuji could see the sincereness in your gaze.
But you had more to say. You had to make sure he truly understood. “I don’t care that it didn’t go exactly as planned. I loved it regardless, and I…” You stopped, scanning his features. The look of shock in his light brown eyes, his mouth slightly parted as he waited for you to finish.
“I realized today how much I love you. I really love you, Yuji.” Not wasting a second, you closed the space between you and pressed your lips against his. He was quick to return your affections, placing his hands on your hips and pulling you closer. Bodies flushed together as your mouths moved in a smooth rhythm. He kissed you desperately as if he had been wanting to do it for a long time. He kissed like you provided him oxygen, so passionate and so devoting.
He pulled away to catch his breath, face crimson and disheveled. “I really love you too, Y/n.” He was about lean in for round two until…
“Finally!” A voice screamed suddenly.
There was a smack and yelp. “Will you shut up?” A hushed voice snarled. The two of you could hear the two strangers murmuring back and forth, bickering.
It had sounded all too familiar.
“Gojo sensei, is that you?” Yuji called out. The white-haired male peeked out from behind the tree, waving at the pair. “Sorry, didn’t mean to interrupt!”
You exchanged a look with Yuji at the sight of your teacher crashing your date. “Who else is with you?”
Gojo reached next to him and pulled a drenched and scowling Megumi to his side. If looks could kill, Gojo would be dead again. Your eyes flickered between the two and back at Yuji. “What are you guys doing here?”
Megumi sighed. “Yuji asked us if we could help him by setting up this picnic while he went to pick you up so everything could already be ready by the time you got here. But, you guys arrived before we could leave so we hid behind the tree.”
“So, you lied about the movie?”
He shrugged. “Pretty much.”
You swatted Yuji’s chest at that. “You told me you set this up yourself!” Yuji giggled, taking hold of your hand against his chest, and apologetically kissed your forehead. “Sorry, I should’ve been more clear.”
Ultimately, Gojo took everyone back to the school, throwing away all the soggy food and packing the dampened blanket and basket in his trunk. Gojo and Megumi sat in the front while you and Yuji cuddled in the backseat. The only sound you could hear was the pitter-patter of the rain, the gentle blow of the car heater, and the sooth thumping of Yuji’s heartbeat as you laid against his chest. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy and you felt your eyes growing heavy, unable to stay awake.
“Happy Valentine’s day, Y/n.” Yuji mumbled tenderly against your hair before you fell into a peaceful sleep.

shibuya city, nestled in the heart of tokyo, was a magical place. bright lights adorn the signs and buildings and hundreds of people weave through the streets. during the daytime, the city is filled with hundreds of people weaving through the streets. laughter echoing from every corner, conversations spewing left and right, and groups of people reveling in fun.
but as the sun dipped below the horizon, its innocence fades, and a new city is born. music booms through the walls as the clubs and bars open, and the energy shifts tremendously.
exotic dancers, gamblers, criminals, you name it. they all roam the streets of shibuya when the sun goes down. the energy changes into one that's filled with heavy excitement, passion, and desire, where everything is an escape from someone's mundane life.
however, people are blinded by the horrors that go on behind the scenes. darker and haunting set of circumstances, that could torment someone for eternity if they happen to get involved. but hidden by the haven of pleasure, nobody suspects a thing.
──═━┈━═──
the department was in its usual state that day. not too busy, with the sound of printers and clacking of keyboards being the only sounds that were heard, and the occasional slurping of people drinking from their mugs. toji fushiguro was sat at his desk, reviewing a recent case that had been dealt with.
a manila envelope plopped onto toji's desk, which caused him to look up from his computer and at the man who dropped it. “what's this?” he questioned as he opened the envelope and took out the stack of papers.
his case officer, shiu kong, took a huff of his cigarette and blew the smoke to the side. “new case.” he said nonchalantly as toji flipped through the papers. “pretty big one if you ask me.”
the name *Seventh Heaven* was plastered on the front. “seventh heaven? that one club in the middle of the city?” toji asked. he knew of it, of course he did. it's all everybody ever talked about. good music, amazing drinks, and beautiful girls. but it never piqued his interest.
shiu nodded in response to his question. “yep, some shady shit going on with them. and not just here, every club in the city.” he added as he took one last puff of his cigarette before stubbing it out on the ashtray on toji's desk.
toji's eyebrows raised at this information. “all of them?” he wanted to say he was surprised, but he wasn't. he always had a gut instinct about these clubs. with how much money they had? there's no way it was all made *just* from them.
“mhm, all of them.” shiu confirmed. “it's like a.. chain. everyone working together, you know? we've got the idea, but not enough evidence for convictions.” he explained. toji nodded as he continued to read through the papers.
human and drug trafficking, money laundering, illegal gambling, murders, blackmailing, and almost every other crime you could name under the sun was listed in this paper. how did they do so much and get away with it so easily?
“how do we not have enough evidence if we know all this stuff?” toji asked. shiu shook his head as he lit another cigarette. “it's all just speculation. we gathered stuff in the system and it mostly led back to the clubs.” toji nodded once again.
“so.. tonight?”
“tonight.”
──═━┈━═──
he'd only entered the club just a couple of minutes ago, but toji's head was already pounding and he wanted to leave immediately. the atmosphere wasn't something he was used to, driving him way out of his comfort zone.
pulsating with almost intoxicating lights, the air was filled with heavy perfume and alcohol, and a hefty scent of marijuana was present. sweaty bodies of people dancing took up half of the room, and the beat of the music amplified everything around him.
he deeply exhaled before turning to face shiu. “let's do this.” he muttered. shiu nodded and the pair of men went their separate ways. toji knew (and dreaded) that the investigation would take weeks, even a couple of months to crack. so he knew that whatever he did, he needed to do it carefully and cautiously.
shiu's job was fairly simple. all he had to do was watch over toji and keep his cover in case anything happened. toji's on the other hand was way more difficult. he needed to get *inside* them.
befriend the bouncers, the bartenders, and the dancers to see who spills. there were weeks and months of long and tiring work ahead of him. now was the time for him to get started.
toji awkwardly slid through the crowd of people, making his way to the stripper lounge where an unsurprisingly large group of men sat. it was sad, to say the least. all these men were either broke and spending all their money to get a good time or out cheating on their wives and fucking over their kids.
toji sighed deeply as he found an empty seat and sat down. he glanced around the place to observe all of his surroundings. everything had an uneasy feeling. everyone seemed suspicious.. he should get prepared just in case–
“give it up for luna!”
his thoughts were interrupted by the lights dimming, followed by the announcer's voice booming through the speaker. as the colorful lights shone back on, the silhouette of a girl was all the audience could make out. and yet, this alone was enough to send an uproar throughout the whole club.
toji's eyebrows knitted as his gaze bounced off each person that screamed beside him. he continued to stare at the girl as she posed from the shadows. *what's so special about her?* he asked himself. but when she stepped forward, he understood why.
she was the embodiment of a goddess. her skimpy outfit barely covered the areas of her body, and her movements were alluring as she swung herself fluidly on the pole. toji was caught in a trance, he couldn't seem to close his mouth he hadn't even noticed opened. but what really grabbed his attention, were her eyes. they were captivating, almost siren-like as he would describe it.
there was no doubt in toji's mind that she was what he needed. her popularity was evident based on the reaction from everyone, it seemed that she'd worked here for a while.
he was so mesmerized by her that he didn't even how fast the time had passed until he saw her get off the stage. even though it didn't, the spotlight seemed to follow her as she walked off, casting a seductive spell on the desperate men that kneeled before her. dollar bills were scattered on the ground and some were stuffed on the waistband of her underwear.
toji snaps himself out of it. eyeing her down would do nothing for this investigation. he had to get to her, and quickly.
──═━┈━═──
his plan for moving quickly did not work out. some group of pretty social guys went up to him and offered a drink, and who was he to deny free beer?
“so do you come here often? i never see you around.” the random man slurred as he gulped down his drink. he was extremely intoxicated, and toji's face slightly scrunched up as the smell of strong liquor came in contact with his face.
“nope, it's my first time here. just decided to try something new.” toji muttered as he took small sips from his drink. another man, equally as drunk as the other, wrapped his arm around toji's broad shoulders. “you're gonna love it! i've been here a while and practically know everybody here, they're all amazing!” he stumbled. *he knew everyone?* “i can show you around the place, so you can get to know some people. maybe even get you some special treatment too.” he winked and nudged toji's side.
the man, whose name he later found out was gojo, led him around the club. he showed toji to everyone he knew, which made toji's job of befriending people so much easier although, there was one person he still hadn't had the opportunity to see.
“there was this girl that was dancing not too long ago.. where everyone started screaming. you know who that is?” toji asked, and gojo seemed to know who he was talking about immediately. “yeah! you're talking about luna, right?” gojo grabs toji's wrist and searches the club for her. “she's one of my good friends. real nice girl! you're gonna love her!”
as the two get closer to the lounge, toji can make out her silhouette once again. her back was towards them, but God did she still look more gorgeous than ever.
“luna!” gojo called out to her, and as she turned around toji swore he felt his heart involuntarily skip a beat. now that he was seeing her up close, she was 10 times more beautiful than he thought she was. she smiled brightly as she turned around and saw gojo.
“hi gojo!” she exclaimed as she hugged him tightly. gojo returned her affection before wrapping his arm around toji and patting his chest roughly. “this is my new friend. show him a good time, yeah?” he muttered in her ear as he slipped her a couple hundred dollar bills. toji's breath hitched as her dazzling eyes made eye contact with his. she smiled seductively at him, and gently grabbed his hand as she started to walk away. “i'll take good care of him.”
──═━┈━═──
the following events weren't what toji expected. all he wanted to do was slyly question her about what was happening at these clubs, but not enough to make her suspicious. when luna dragged him into a private room, all he wanted to do was talk.
but now she was straddled on his waist as they sloppily made out. toji's large hands firmly gripped her waist as her small ones tugged on his hair. small moans and groans left both of their mouths as their lips disheveledly pressed against each other.
suddenly he snapped out of it and remembered the reason he was there. his hands lightly pushed on her shoulders for her to get off, but she wasn't budging. toji cupped her face and then reluctantly forced himself to pull away. “hey, hey.. stop for a second.” he said to her softly.
her eyes softly opened as she stared into his eyes. “what's wrong? i'm not going to hurt you.” luna joked in the same seductive tone as had before then leaned back in to kiss him again.
this went back in forth for quite some time, and toji was getting exceedingly frustrated. no matter how many times he tried to talk she just wouldn't listen. having enough, toji flipped her over forcefully and pinned her down on the bed.
luna yelped and her eyes widen as toji pinned himself on top of her. “what the fuck dude?!” she screeched. toji rolled his eyes while pinning her wrists beside her head. “you really don't listen, do you?” he sneered. she squinted her eyes at him and scoffed.
“it's my job. i need to get paid like everybody else too,” she uttered. her eyebrows were scrunched together as she glanced up at toji with a pouty expression. “could you get off of me? you're heavy.”
“what do you know?” he cut straight to the point. he was tired of her resistance and avoidment.
luna's eyes squinted once again. “what do i know? what do you mean what do i know?” her eyes held a confused look.
“about the clubs.. the bosses, the owners, what do you know?” he interrogated her. her confused expression remained for a bit until a look of realization spread through her face. “holy shit you're a cop.”
luna whispered as if somebody were to hear them. she forcefully broke out of toji's grip and stood up hastily, grabbing the roots of her hair. “fuck you're a cop!” she muttered panicked as she paced back and forth.
toji stood up next to her and held her wrists to stop her from ripping her hair, but she pulled out of his grasp. toji grabbed at her shoulders. “stop, just tell me.” he ordered.
“i'm not telling you shit!” she pushed at his chest and pushed him out of the room as hard as she could. it didn't push him far, but she tried. luna leaned in towards his ear and whispered once again, “you can't be here. get out, and don't come back.” with one final push, toji stumbled out of the room and the door shut in his face.
toji huffed frustratedly, and out of the peripheral of his eye, he could see shiu walking towards him. “what the hell happened in there?” he asked. toji didn't answer, all he did was stare at the door.
toji knew that she knew stuff. lots of stuff. and no matter how stubborn or secretive she may be, toji was going to know everything.
no matter how long it takes.

(no friends to lovers mentioned in this one btw..starting to feel myself goin thru withdrawal already..), not rlly reader oriented like usual but i thought this was cute lol i like the idea of katsuki caring about us so much he goes out his way to ask for help from others (despite hating doing so)teehee (also i like the idea of these silly guys interacting and i like hc-ing them okay okay i'll stop rambling okay-)
Tumblr media
the last thing kirishima expected at 9.34 pm was someone basically busting down his door with how hard they were knocking on it.
eijirou opens the door urgently and is even more suprised to see his foul mouthed best friend on the other side of the door.
"woah, bakugou, man !" he exclaims seeing the state his friend was in. his eyes looked droopy and his clothes were wrinkled up like he had done a lot of moving around. usually, he would've assumed his friend had just awoken from a good nap, but his restless expression said otherwise. "what happened to you ? you look—"
" 'm fine." bakugou gruffs hoarsely, taking a deep breath at his friends widened eyes, softening up his demeanor just slightly " i'm good," he rephrased "just—you gonna let me in or what ?"
eijirou sputters out an "of course, of course" only for his friend let himself in before he could even move aside. though he immediately freezes when he sees-
"woah, kacchan's gone nutso ! " denki exclaims, face turning red from laying upside down on kirishima's bean bag for way too long.
"and he's up past 8 ? must be the apocalypse or somethin' " sero chuckles from his place on the floor near the dresser.
bakugou groans has he flops onto eijirou’s bed "of course you losers are here" his complaint is muffled against the pillows, but not muffled enough to where the rest of the boys can't hear.
"hey ! we were here before you ! 'f anythin', you're the one intruding—!" denki gulps, eyebrows furrowed. he quickly spins around to lay right when he feels the blood rushing to his head, taking a deep breath afterwards. sero chuckles and bakugou deadpans at kaminari for a good fourty seconds before slamming his head back down and groans even louder.
kirishima decides he's at a safe enough distance to sit down on his own bed, without making any sudden moves so as not to anger the beast that is an angry, sleepy bakugou. he places a hand near his friends leg, where he deems he's at safe to ask "what's up man ? you're usually in bed by this time.." he hears sero make a noise in agreement.
"yeah, or he's havin' kissy-kissy time with his giiiirrrlffrrieeeend.." kaminari sings, kicking his feet in the air jokingly. bakugou, to everyones suprise, flinches at the mention of you, then slams his head against kirishima's pillow harder and groaning even louder.
all three friends share a curious-somewhat worried look. kirishima nudges his head in bakugou's direction, silently begging his friends to say something. said friends adamantly shake their heads, as if synchronized, making a cross motion with their arms. kirishima sighs to himself, some friends.
yet again, he is the first one to speak up " did..did something happen between you two, didja fight or something ?" he asks carefully, his entire body is strained and the air in the room is so heavy, everybody present ready to get a big portion of the great lord explodo-bomberkill's anger.
only to be met with bakugou turning around to lay on his back eyebrows strained slightly and eyes absent, thinking about something they don't know "what ? course we didn't fuckin fight, idiot." he answers simply.
the three friends all let out an obnoxious sigh of relief, to katsuki's slight confusion.
"hoo, okay." kirishima answered relieved. he knows you and bakugou don't fight very much (which he thinks is super manly) but he knows that when it happens bakugou get's extremely—EXTREMELY—irritable, so it's best to stay away from him while he has his heart broken for a little bit, unless he reaches out by himself, but that only happens when he feels really bad and came to ask for advice on how to get his boyfriend priviledges back. "soo.." eijirou sings "what happened then ?"
bakugou's face hardens and the group stiffens again, preparing for a latent explosion--perhaps the volcano was still dormant and was about to be set off. the three boys hold their breaths.
bakugou takes a deep breath, a sour expression on his face.
3..
bakugou huffs out a sigh.
2...
he opens his mouth to speak and—his cheeks are turning pink ?
"valentine's day's after tomorrow and i don't know what the fuck to get her."
the three boys slump over and kaminari does so so hard his face bangs against the floor. kirishima feels like he's in a sitcom or some gag anime.
" that's it ?" sero chuckles to himself "what ? you're worried for valentine's day ?" sero mocks, gladly taking the opportunity to mess with the blond "that shit's easy man." he cackles, leaning against the dresser more comfortably.
"yeah dude, all you gotta do is get her some chocolates and like—a teddy bear or somethin' girls love that typa stuff !" kaminari piped up, having lifted his head up from the floor. sero nods and bakugou lifts himself up to scoff at them. it feels like it comes from the deepest depth of his very being and kirishima feels a little hurt, despite not being the target of the attack.
"this is why you losers don't have girlfriends yourselves, so i don't wanna hear anythin' from you." kaminari chokes out an "ouch, dude !" " sides, i'm not just gonna settle for that boring ass shit for my girl. no chance in hell." bakugou concludes gruffly.
"yeah, yeah we get it you're the perfect boyfriend" sero quips bitterly, rolling his eyes. " why'd you come here to ask us if, according to you, we get none ?" he questioned raising an eyebrow.
"i came here for shitty hair, not you bastards." the blond spits, rolling his eyes as well before turning to kirishima, who jumps a little at his friends slightly desperate eyes on him.
"woah, i don't have—what makes you think i would be any help ?" the redhead splutters, waving his hands around.
"don't you have something goin' on with alien chick ?"
"what ?! no dude, we're just friends !"
at that, bakugou's eyes widen the slightest bit before he groans for what feels like the 5Oth time tonight, and flops back onto the bed dramatically, turning his head away from his friend " your fuckin' useless too, then." his friend grumbles angrily.
"hey !" kirishima exclaims "mean ! i help you with your girlfriend troubles all the time without having one !"
bakugou turns to face his friend again with narrowed eyes, before exhaling a frustrated sigh and lifting himself up again, eyebrows furrowed. "your sheets smell like ass by the way." he chides, nose scrunched slightly.
"h-hey !" kirishima reiterates " i was gonna wash 'em !"
bakugou gives him an incredulous look, before shaking his head, sighing.
"well look, how about you just get her something you know she likes, isn't that good enough ?" sero offers, shrugging to himself.
"ou ! i saw a guy on tiktok ask his girlfriend out with wingstop, you could like-" kaminari, despite getting lightheaded before has apparently not learned his lesson as he flips around on his back again "—ask her to be your valentines with some fast food chain she likes, and those cute pink heart balloons they sell at the mall, y'know !"
the boys all hum at kaminari's suprisingly helpful idea. kirishima doesn't wanna say it out loud but he really hadn't expected such a cute idea from his electric friend.
"y'know, i was gonna say you were just hungry with the wingstop thing, but that's actually not a bad idea kaminari." sero hums absentmindedly with an impressed expression on his face. kirishima sweatdrops at his lack of tact but isn't really suprised.
"fuck you, man ! you guys never trust me with this stuff." kaminari whines mostly to himself. "yer track record isn't really the best when it comes to scoring girls, is it ?" sero retorts.
kirishima shakes his head seeing his friends start to bicker. he decides to ignore them and turn to his spiky haired friend, who seems deep in thought "well, what about it ? that sound like a good idea ?" he asks.
"s'not half bad.." his friend mutters in response " it's a good start, i guess."i if he notices how kaminari presses a hand to his chest with a heartfelt look on his face, he doesn't comment on it.
"oh, maybe try the take-out and a movie, i'm assuming you're not trynna have a whole celebration, yeah ?" bakugou grunts in response, his nose scrunches as he cringes thinking about the idea. he shakes his head "no, want it to be..about just the two of us, y'know ?" he utters honestly, in a way that sounds way too out of character from him.
a symphony of awwwss resonates around the room and katsuki feels his cheeks heat up hard as he harshly tells his friends to shut up.
" but seriously i'm curious, you guys are already together right ? why would you need to ask her to be your valentine anyway—shouldn’t that be a given ? " sero wonders.
"i don’t fuckin know, my old hag says it’s about the principal or some shit like that." bakugou sighs, flopping back onto the bed and throwing an arm up over his eyes, it seemed like being up so late was affecting him.
"no way dude, you called your mom ?" kaminari asks, jaw practically reaching the floor (or the ceiling..?) in shock. bakugou flushes and splutters as he hears his friends reaction to this apparently shocking news.
“shut up.” he growls “she says it’s important to show i care.. my old man does it an' they're still together right now so he must be doin' something right.
"woah man.." kirishima uttered in awe " you're goin so far to make your girlfriend happy.." he clenches his fist "s-so manly !" bakugou simply grumbles to himself in response.
"honestly..i didn't expect that from you..like at all."
"fuck off !"
"like genuinely, at all. or maybe like, 0.00003 percent cha-"
" i'll fuckin' kill you tape arms !" bakugou barked, small sparks shooting out of his palms as he kneeled at the foot of kirishima's bed in pursuit of the black haired boy. kirishima swiftly swoops in and grabs his friends arm, quickly putting his finger over his mouth
"shhhh, man !" kirishima shushes. " if we're loud, class rep's gonna hear us !" he hisses.
"or worse, mr. aizawa..." kaminari whimpered.
all four boys share a shiver.
afterwards, bakugou sighs, acting as if him almost literally blowing up at his friend a minute ago hadn't happened and gets up to sit on the side of the bed.
"well whatever, i'm satisfied." he says, a little yawn leaving him "my folks gave me some ideas so i'll use those too." his eyes zip around the room and back to the floor, then he closes his eyes and speaks so quietly kirishima barely catches it
"you guys' idea isn't horrible either so i'll keep it in mind..thanks." he utters a quick " 'r whatever." before suddenly getting up and practically sprinting to the door.
it's quiet in the room as everyone sits stunned and kirishima is the first to speak again "o-oh yeah, no problem man, anytime !" he beamed, though still slightly shocked.
"yeah, no problem..!" kaminari can't seemed to decide if he wants to smile or be stunned. his mouth stuck in an awkward half-smile-half- '°O°-' face.
" course." sero raises a thumbs up and a small smile.
bakugou grunts to himself, graces his friends with a simple "night." then pulling the door open quietly, looking around the hallway quickly before swiftly creeping out the room, closing the door behind him. the boys quickly reciprocate the goodnight quietly before he can fully close it. he stutters at the door for a second longer and kirishima knows he heard them then, so he's satisfied.
it's quiet in the room for about 5 seconds after bakugou's left.
"dude, for some reason that made me feel all warm inside..is that just me ?" kaminari hummed, pressing a hand to his chest.
"nope, me too" sero admits, sighing to himself.
"yeah, same here" kirishima says as well, smiling to himself " he really cares about yn, huh ?"
"i can give him that, yeah" sero stretches, getting up so he can jump onto kirishima's bed.
"dude" he lifts his head up "your sheets do smell like ass." sero snickers.
" I- AM-GONNA-WASH-THEM !! "
afterwards valentines day comes around. the boys don't have valentines of their own but when they see you and katsuki hand in hand, with you holding onto those cute pink heart balloons from the mall, wearing a sweater a little too big for you and a valentines day gift bag in your one hand, with bakugou holding onto a bag of take-out and offering them a single side glance and a nod with a half smirk on his lips, they feel extremely proud of themselves. bakugou reminds himself to tell his friends he owes them one.

inumaki x fem!reader 🎀
Y/N has been receiving confession letters for the past couple of days. however, the senders' identity remains a mystery. what will happen when she finds out it's a boy who can only communicate in ingredients?
lowercase intended
word count: 4.3k
warnings: some cursing, pure fluff, letters are in pink, inumaki's writing is in purple, inu speaks (sometimes)

DAY 1
to my dear crush,
i like you a lot :)
that's what was said in the letter that sat on Y/N's desk. it was neatly placed with poorly drawn colored hearts and decorative stickers placed uncoordinatedly. Y/N stared at the letter with a confused look drawn on her face, then peered around the classroom to glance at her classmates.
“what the hell..” she muttered to herself. she closely examined the piece of paper, placing it directly near her eyes to see it better. a confession note? but from who? “what's that in your hands?” said a voice from behind her.
nobara peered over Y/N's shoulder, furrowing her eyebrows as she read the contents of the letter. “a love letter?!” she gawked, catching the attention of one specific pink-haired classmate as he turned his head violently. yuuji's chair screeched as he swiftly got up from his chair and made his way over to the two girls.
he took the letter from Y/N's hands and his eyes practically bulged out of his head. “SOMEBODY'S IN LOVE WITH Y/N!” yuuji exclaimed. Y/N rolled her eyes and lightly smacked yuuji on the back of his head. she snatched back the letter and placed it back on her desk.
“would you tone it down yuuji?” she scolded him as she rolled her eyes at the volume of his voice when it was so early in the morning. Y/N then proceeded to let out a deep sigh. “it doesn't have a name though, i don't know who wrote it.” she grumbled. now it was nobara's turn to snatch the letter.
Y/N was right. it had no name on it. she flipped the envelope back and forth and did the same with the letter, but there was no name written on either side of it. nobara gasped for what seemed the millionth time in those few minutes. “you've got a secret admirer!” she beamed. a secret admirer?
Y/N hasn't heard that term since middle school. this school wasn't very big. with the fact that there are barely over 10 students, finding whoever wrote the letter wasn't going to be hard. that's what Y/N thought to herself, but little did she know it wasn't going to be as easy as it seemed.
DAY TWO
Y/N didn't have many regrets in her life, she was fairly happy at the point she was now. but, if there was one thing she'd always regret.. it was training with maki.
she laid back flat on the grass, huffing and puffing as she attempted to catch her breath. sweat was dripping down her forehead, and all she wanted to do was sleep. her eyes were shut until a silhouette blocked the sun that was shining behind her eyes. “did i kill you?” maki chuckled.
Y/N groaned in response and turned over to lay on her stomach. “i think you did..” she hissed. her entire body felt sore and as if it was on fire. “i swear, you try to kill me every time we train together.”
maki laughed loudly before kneeling on the ground next to her and lifting her off the ground with a groan. “don't be like that,” maki chirped. “you've been improving though that's for sure. let's try to push you harder next time, yeah?” the two girls walked to where their belongings were placed.
“finally right? we've been training so-” Y/N cut herself off when she saw a glimpse of something falling from her bag onto the ground. she looked around for it, and was shocked to find another letter. she didn't even see anybody there! she could've sworn it was just her and maki alone for the entire time. so how did it get in her bag?
“another one?!” she bellowed as her voice cracked slightly. it had the same design as the other letter. the same decorative stickers and poorly drawn hearts, with no sign of a name at all.
“look maki! this is the second time i've gotten these letters!” Y/N exclaimed as she flashed the envelope to maki. maki was usually amazing at keeping her demeanor calm, but the quick look that flashed in her eyes was enough for Y/N to know that something was up.
“yeah that's pretty weird..” she stammered. Y/N squinted her eyes at her friend. being friends with inumaki has made her a self-proclaimed expert on body language. so by the look in maki's eyes, Y/N knew that maki knew something she didn't. “spill. what do you know?” she questioned.
“…”
“…”
“..i know nothing.”
and with that, maki snatched all of her belongings and rushed out of the field, leaving Y/N to sit by herself on the ground with an astonished look on her face. “what the hell was that?” she asked herself. brushing off maki's weird behavior, Y/N hastily opened the letter and read the words on the paper.
to my beautiful crush,
i like being a mystery
to you. it'll be funny seeing you
trying to find out who i am :)
everyone knows except
you lolol. ik you looked
pretty today like
always >B)
Y/N stared at the letter with a blank stare on her face. this is not funny she thought to herself. but what did they mean by everyone knows except her?
DAY 3
“why do we have to carry all the bags that you guys bought?”
“shut up and be a man.”
megumi groaned loudly as nobara and Y/N put a shopping bag on each of his arms simultaneously. yuuji on the other hand stood proudly as the two girls slung the bags over his shoulder. “when gojo-sensei said to use his credit card, i don't think he meant to max it out.” megumi grumbled.
nobara scoffed and then rolled her eyes. ”i doubt that his credit card could ever be maxed out with the amount of money that idiot has.” she rebutted. the 4 continued to walk around tokyo together, going into different shops and buying whatever they pleased.
though, Y/N couldn't help but think about those letters. why wasn't anybody telling her anything? even when the sender said “everyone except you knows”? she sighed, then snapped out of her thoughts to continue hanging with her friends.
“we should stop to get something to eat. i'm starving.” yuuji suggested. the rest of the group agreed and went on their way to find somewhere to eat. they decided to stop at Shinjuku Nadaman.
the friends were conversing and laughing, having an overall amazing time together. Y/N was reaching into her purse to get her phone to take pictures, but she felt an unfamiliar feeling in her bag. something she knows she didn't place in there. quickly, Y/N practically ripped it out of her bag, and lo and behold, it was another letter!
how'd it even get in there!? Y/N was extremely protective over her belongings. she kept her purse hidden just in case someone decided to try and take something from her. the only person who knew where she hid it was...
“nobara.”
“yea- oh shit.”
the color on yuuji, megumi, and nobara's drained from their faces as Y/N glared at them. “please don't tell me you guys know too.” she asked hopefully, but the look on all of their faces answered her question without them even saying anything. “YOU GUYS CAN'T BE SERIOUS!”
yuuji waved his hands in front of him as he tried to defend the 3 of them. “hey, don't get mad at us! they told us we couldn't say anything to you!” he explained. nobara nodded alongside him.
“yeah! and if they found out we did, they'd kill us!” nobara exaggerated. megumi still kept the same stoic look on his face, but nodded at the two's words signaling he agreed with them. Y/N glanced over all of their faces before groaning loudly. “this is unfair!” she complained.
“would you just open the letter and stop complaining?” megumi hissed. she rolled her eyes in response and then opened the letter. once again, the envelope was decorated in the same designs as it had been the last two times.
to the prettiest girl i know,
i hope i haven't stressed
you out too much hahaha.
you'll find out sooner
or later. keep working
hard and keep your
pretty head up :)
even though Y/N had no idea who this mysterious sender was, she couldn't help the blush that formed on her face the words of affirmation made her entire body feel warm and comforted, as if she was being wrapped around a blanket.
“aww, she's blushing!”
“shut up and let her enjoy it.”
DAY 4
“if you take out that piece it's gonna fall.”
“bonito flakes..”
“yeah, it will. it's gonna fa- HAHAHA YES! I WON!”
“FISH FLAKES!”
inumaki slammed his hands down on the table as the Jenga tower collapsed. Y/N cheered and clapped her hands at her victory. this was the first time inumaki and Y/N were hanging out after a while, due to him being sent on a mission with panda for a couple of days prior.
the two had been best friends for years before entering Jujutsu Tech together. she couldn't help but harbor a small crush on him as well. but what can she do? she's just a girl. who wouldn't like someone who treated you so nicely?
but now that he's back, Y/N can finally update him on everything that's been happening. “inu, guess what?” she teased.
he hummed as a signal for her to continue, fixing up the fallen blocks of jenga from the table and setting up the tower again. “someone has been sending me love letters.”
inumaki gasped then knocked over the building blocks to lean over the table, angling himself right in her face. “tuna!” he exclaimed. his eyes seemed as though they lit up.
Y/N giggled at his reaction, “i know right? can you believe it?” she added, her shoulders slightly drooping at his reaction. based on that, it couldn't be him right? he knew nothing about it. inumaki raised his hands and shrugged his shoulders, which signified to her that he was silently asking who it was.
“i don't know, that's what i've been trying to figure out for the past 4 days” Y/N replied. she groaned for what seemed the hundredth time that week and slouched over the table. “and no one is telling me anything! everyone knows who it is beside me!” she complained. inumaki simply chuckled at her and grabbed his notepad to write down a sentence.
maybe he's just shy? he wrote.
Y/N thought about it, but then shrugged her shoulders. “i guess it's a possibility, but it still doesn't make it any less frustrating.” she explained. inumaki nodded, sort of understanding her view of the situation.
well, who do you think it is?
when he asked that question, Y/N realized that she hadn't really thought about who it was. she was curious, but it wasn't a constant thought in he mind. “i haven't thought about it actually..” she admitted. inumaki narrowed her eyes at her and palmed his forehead.
you idiot
Y/N scoffed at his insult and then quickly defended herself. “i've been training! i have more stuff to worry about than finding out who this sender is.” inumaki still kept his eyes narrowed.
“who do you think it could be?”
inumaki makes weird shapes with his hands ontop of his head.
“..panda?”
“bonito flakes.”
“oh megumi!”
“salmon!”
Y/N thought about it for a while. it was a nice gesture, but she didn't want megumi. “i guess it's an option..” she shrugged. inumaki was deep in thought, before he wrote down another sentence.
let's make a list
“a list?” she repeated. it would be a good way to figure out who this person is, but it'd be awkward if one of them were to find the list if their name was written on it. “okay, but we rip the paper after we finish, alright?”
“salmon.” was all inumaki said before quickly writing down on the piece of paper. Y/N waited patiently for him to finish. a few minutes passed by and inumaki ripped out the piece of paper from his notepad and handed it to her.
Y/N's HOES (options)
“..inumaki WHAT is this title?”
“read it.”
due to his cursed speech, she obviously had to oblige. she started to read his dumb list.
Y/N's HOES (options)
megumi
yuuji
maki
nobara
yuuta
todo
“yuuta isn't even here toge.”
keep your options open girl
Y/N scoffed as she read further down the list. “and todo doesn't even go to this school! why is he on here?”
i just said keep your options open.
she rolled her eyes and then checked the time on her phone. “i gotta head to training, i'll see you later?” inumaki nodded his head and waved goodbye to her. but when Y/N picked up her bag from the floor, a letter was sitting underneath it. she gasped and quickly picked it up to show it to inu. “another one!” she exclaimed.
“open it, girl!”
she quickly ripped open the envelope and sat down to read it.
to the cutest girl ever,
this is getting funnier and
funnier every day. hearing
what people are saying
about how you react when
you see these letters is
the cutest thing ever.
can't wait to see your pretty
face when i see it for myself.
Y/N couldn't help the giggle that left her mouth at the sudden and abrupt compliment at the end that never failed to make her blush. she couldn't see it as she was reading, but inumaki looked at her with fondness in his eyes. his gaze softened as the blush crept its way onto her face, resting his head on his hand while he impatiently waited to make this girl his.
DAY 5
“toge said that it could be megumi. it would be a bit awkward, but it's not like it's impossible, right?"
"mhm."
"or do you think it could be one of the girls? maybe i'm delusional, but maki was acting really suspicous the other day.."
"hm, could be."
"are you even listening to me?"
"not at all.”
Y/N groaned loudly and slouched in her chair as nanami neglected her. she ran her hands down her face in distress while nanami continued to read his newspaper, not paying attention to her. “why do you hate me so much?! i need advice!” she shrieked.
nanami shrugged as he held a look of disdain on his face. “i don't hate you. i just simply can't help you, i don't know what you want me to do.” he spoke. Y/N rested her cheek on her hand as she pouted at him.
“you could at least listen to what i'm saying,” she muttered. nanami raised one eyebrow and lifted his gaze from his newspaper. he sighed then reluctantly spoke “what's going on?”
Y/N's eyes lit up, and she quickly fixed herself on the chair she was slouching out of. “okay so,” she started. “these past few days i've been getting these letters from somebody who has a crush on me, and everyone knows except me! i've been trying to figure out who it is, but i have no idea. everyone is being so… stoic.” she explained.
nanami nodded along as he listened intently. Y/N waited for a response, but it never came. “so.. what should i do?” she asked.
“well, what do you want to do?”
“find out who this person is.”
“well i can't help you there.”
“you're joking.”
she groaned once again and stood up. “you're seriously no help” she whined. Y/N walked to the door to leave the room, but nanami stopped her by calling out her name. “Y/N.” he grumbled.
she turned back around to face him. “what?” she asked. he signaled her to come back over with his fingers, and she begrudgingly walked back to him. once she stood in front of him, he reached into his jacket and pulled out an envelope, “someone wanted me to give this to you.” he stated. Y/N gasped and snatched the envelope from his hand.
the same stickers, hearts.. it's from them. “YOU-” Y/N started, and she could see the smirk that nanami failed to hide behind his paper. she couldn't help but smile herself, then ran back to her dorm to read the letter in privacy.
she quickly shut the door and hopped onto her bed. these letters were everything she has been looking forward to these past few days. she tore the envelope open and began to read it.
to the best girl in the world,
every time i see you i can't
help but fall for you
more and more. you're
the prettiest girl i've seen
inside and out. i don't
know what i'd do if i didn't
have you with me.
when did they get so sentimental? even though it was already the 5th letter, she could never get used to the words written to her. Y/N clutched the letter to her chest as she smiled softly to herself. now all she could think about was how excited she was to finally find out who this person was.
DAY 6
all Y/N has been doing for the past couple of training. she'd wake up, train, sleep, then repeat. it was a non-stop ongoing cycle that was beginning to pile up in unbelievable levels amount of stress.
but the satisfaction she'll get from finally going from a third-grade sorcerer to a second-grade would keep her happy for the time being. however, all of it is catching up to her, and she hasn't left her room at all that day. her body was sore and she was so tired, mentally and physically.
the only thing she wanted to do was watch TV in her bed and eat buldak noodles. but the heavy footsteps running down the hallway and the frantic knocking on her instead of her plans.
“Y/N/!~ THERE'S A PRESENT FOR YOU!” and of course, it was her dumbass blindfolded teacher. she moaned in annoyance then dragged herself off her bed to open the door. “what do you want gojo?” she hissed.
gojo pouted at her tone of voice. “why'd you have to say it like that?” he mumbled. he stepped into her room, and his face contorted in disgust by the look of it. “it's so messy and dark in here! get some light in here girl!” he said as he opened her blinds. Y/N eyes squinted as the sudden bright light shined through the windows.
“why do you feel the need to torture me like this so early in the morning?”
“it's 3 pm.”
“still.”
ignoring her complaints, he pulled out an envelope from behind back and dramatically bowed while handing it to her. “ta-da!~” he exclaimed. her eyes widen and a scowl was written all over her face. “EVEN YOU KNOW WHO IT IS?” Y/N screamed. gojo laughed loudly before skipping out of her room and shutting the door.
he's so weird.. she thought.
she looked over the envelope and smiled. this is what she needed today, she knew it was going to bring the comfort that she sought. she sat back down on her bed and opened the letter.
to my future girlfriend,
you've been so stressed
lately and it's breaking my heart.
i wanna let you know that
you're doing amazing, as you
always are. don't push
yourself too hard, it's not
good for you. you're going to
get your grade level up
eventually, don't overwork.
just know that i care for you,
and i love you, and i hope
you keep doing well.
Y/N couldn't help the tears that formed in her eyes and the lump that formed in her throat. having been so overworked, those were the words she needed to hear. she laid back on her bed and fell asleep, with a sense of lightness and warmth that had been missing for days.
DAY 7
meet me outside the
dorms at 8 tonight
please
that's the letter Y/N received on the 7th day. instead of her finding it someplace random like she usually did, this one was slipped underneath her door. and instead of being decorated with its usual drawings and stickers, it was just a single piece of paper.
throughout the week, all Y/N wanted to do was figure out who this person was. but now that it was finally happening, she felt nervous. the thought of it now makes her heart beat so fast it feels as if it'll pump out of her chest.
it was currently 6:30 pm. an hour and a half until 8. she was beginning to overthink. should i get there earlier just in case? or after so i don't seem desperate? but i am kind of desperate.. it was an ongoing internal battle, but then she made up her mind to leave her dorm at 7:55 to make it outside at 8 on the dot.
the time came sooner than expected, and before she knew it was already 7:50. Y/N smoothed down the wrinkles of her clothes as she looked at herself in the mirror. when she glanced back over at her clock, it was 7:55. why the fuck was time going by so fast? she took in a deep breath and left her dorm.
she took her time walking, and by the time she reached outside the dorms, she knew it was 8 o’clock. Y/N glanced around the area before seeing a person a few feet away, basking in the pale moonlight.
this is it.. she thought to herself and slowly approached the person, staring deeply at them to make out their silhouette.
it’s inumaki.
“inu?” she called out to him softly. he turned to face her, and she wore she could see the blush develop on his face even through his zipped-up hoodie. he nervously shuffled his balance on his feet as he fiddled with his hands. “..kelp” he muttered.
“it was you?..” even if it wasn't evident in her tone, she couldn't have been more happy that inumaki was the one sending her those letters. she's been in love with him for God knows how long, and now she finally knows that the feeling is mutual.
inumaki nodded, and he felt as if he was about to pass out. “salmon” he answered her, slightly frustrated at his limited vocabulary.
she couldn't help but notice how vulnerable he looked in this moment. yeah, she has seen him through his worst times, but this was different. he looked nervous and hazy, a state that Y/N had never seen him in before. “you like me?” no shit, of course he did. but Y/N was so speechless at this moment that she had no idea what to say.
inumaki looked like he wanted to say the words he had written on paper desperately, but the risk of accidentally hurting himself, or more importantly, her, was preventing him from doing so. he reached into his pocket and handed her a sheet of paper that was filled to the bottom.
he handed it to her with shakey hands and watched her expression carefully as she read it.
Y/N,
i'm sorry for making you run
around trying to figure out who
i am. i obviously can't
speak, so i wanted to tell you my
feelings towards you in
a different way. i also wanted
to mess with you a little.
whoops.
anyway, we've been friends
for many years, and i have loved
you for many more. i love
seeing your face every day,
i love your enthusiasm,
i love your determination,
i love being with you,
and overall just love you.
i have waited so long to tell you
this but let doubts hold me
back. i decided recently that i
needed to grow some balls.
it's okay if you don't accept.
but if you'll let me,
i would love to be yours.
so, would you be willing
to go out with me?
Y/N's heart practically melted, she glanced up at him and smiled brightly, which seemed or melt away all the nerves he had right then and then there. he smiled back at her, and his eyebrows raised as he awaited her answer.
she stepped forward to him and whispered to him softly, “i'll go out with you” then gently pressed her lips against his as she wrapped her arms around his shoulders.
inumaki tensed up at first and his breath hitched, but he instantly relaxed into the kiss. he held onto her waist as he deepened the kiss, and the two held each other affectionately as their lips danced passionately among one another.
they pull away to catch their breaths and lean their foreheads against each other to gaze into each other's eyes. the moon was big and bright, and it added a soft shine to their eyes, which enhanced their already soft gaze.
“i love you.” she quietly muttered.
“i love you too.”

the blackest day - fushiguro megumi

word count: 12.2k warnings: shibuya + light culling game arc spoilers but not very canon compliant lmfao. suggested major character death, heavy themes of depression (not reader) including: not eating, insomnia, feelings of worthlessness + suicidal ideation. mentions of needles, stitches, + blood. heavy angst with a happy ending. summary: megumi tried to tell her not to go to that station. all he can do now is think that he should've tried harder. more info: rivals/friends to lovers, lots of hurt/some comfort, megumi has reached ultimate functioning angst in this ✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
[ it’s not easy for me to talk about // i have heavy heartstrings.  and not simple, it’s trigonometry // it’s hard to express // i can’t explain // ever since my baby went away, it’s been the blackest day ]
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
“I don’t care that they assigned me to go with Nanami,”
Her voice came out in a huff, irritation getting the better of her, and it was starting to become quite noticeable.  Her chest was puffed, her lips were pulled into a snarl that looked completely unnatural on her usually bright features.  The hand that wasn’t holding a short sword was curled into a fist so tight it began to tremble.
“Itadori needs my help more” She finished, sounding sure of this change of plan.
Megumi cursed under his breath, this petty argument being the last thing he was in the mood for.  There was no time for some ridiculous change in team ups.  The pairings had already been decided, and had happened for a reason.  With a veil over Shibuya making communication impossible, a change like this was absurd.
“You don’t get to just pick and choose what you want to do, (y/n),” He snapped back at her, before aggressively pointing in the direction of Nanami’s team, where he and Takuma had just taken off.
It hadn’t been until too late that Megumi caught (y/n) hovering away from her group, looking lost under a flickering street lamp as she gazed off in the opposite direction of her team, chewing on her lip as she worried about her other classmate headed for the train station.  Had Megumi noticed sooner, he probably wouldn’t be standing here fighting with her right now.  He probably could’ve hollered for Nanami or Takuma to circle back and drag her off if they had to.  But they were too far gone now to yell after, and his phone was useless.
“These teams were drawn up for a reason,” He muttered.  “Now you’ve rendered it useless”
She rolls her eyes at his drama, turning to head off towards the train station, not caring about winning this argument.  There were more important things to do right now than stand here and bicker with Megumi.  She was getting tired of this repetitive game of his anyways.
“Where the hell do you think you’re going?” He took a large step towards her, making her halt in her tracks before she could get very far.
“I told you,” She snapped back.  “I’m going after Yuuji.  Something’s not right.  I can feel it”
Megumi’s eyes widened and twitched.
“You can’t be serious”
“Does it look like I’m joking?”
Her expression didn’t flinch.  He could tell by the hardness in her eyes that she’d set her mind to this new plan of hers, and no matter how stupid it was, he knew deep down she wasn’t going to waver on it.
“You’re not going off on your own,” Megumi scoffs, hoping he could get her to see that she’d be walking right into a trap if she split off by herself.  “Do you even know your way there?”
“I think I’m capable of reading street signs, Fushiguro”
Surname.  Ouch.  He was only succeeding in pissing her off.
“Just- god, just come with me, alright?” He suggests instead, thinking a compromise would sway her.  “Going off by yourself right now is reckless and you know it.  Come on.  If the roles were reversed you wouldn’t let me do this”
Her eyes narrow, and she clenches her jaw.
“I’m not going to stand here and play the ‘what if’ game with you,” She told him.  “You’re wasting time.  If you cross paths with anyone, tell them I went after Yuuji”
“(y/n)-”
Before he could come up with another argument- or resort to picking her up off the ground and forcing her not to go- she was already turning on her heels and breaking into a full sprint.
Megumi had tried to follow her, but she’d always been faster than him.  He called after her until his throat burned raw.  Eventually he had to go off with his own team, knowing if he strayed too far then he was putting himself at just as great a risk as she’d been.
But fuck, had he made a mistake in not pushing himself to follow her.
Even if they’d both died trying to get to Yuuji, he thinks it would’ve been better than this.

Megumi wakes up that morning looking like he was in just as terrible of a state as he had the day before.  And the day before that.  And every day before that for the last six days.
It had been a week since the incident with Shibuya, and with every day that passed and the more ground they covered, Megumi was starting to feel worse.
Yuuta silently offered up an apple he’d found at the last shop they’d raided.  Megumi barely glanced at it before shaking his head, going right to work rolling up the sleeping bag that was starting to get worn and dirty.  Yuuta frowned, crouching down beside the younger man to talk quietly with him.
“You should eat something,” He suggests calmly.  “When was the last time you’ve eaten anything?”
Megumi tries not to appear annoyed.  He knows Yuuta is only trying to look out for him, he’d been trying to look out for everyone.  Unfortunately since the impact of Shibuya, it was hard to keep everyone in check and healthy.
“Ate last night” Megumi replied.
Yuuta frowned.
“You had a bite of a loaf of bread” He replied knowingly.
Megumi paused in his movements, his sleeping bag rolled up part way, and his eyes caught the beginnings of a hole that he hadn’t noticed before.  It must’ve gotten caught on some rubble or debris and torn the nylon.  He frowned at the supposed tear-proof material.  If it worsened it would be a nuisance, and if he was out of a sleeping bag, well, who knew when or if he’d come across another one.
Pushing that worry off for a later time, he glanced at Yuuta over his shoulder.  His face was blank, as it had been for the better part of the last week.
“You don’t need to keep tabs on me,” He said.  “I’m fine”
Yuuta held his stare for a long moment, hoping that if he let the lie sit there for long enough, Megumi would realize how empty it sounded.
But he didn’t budge.
So Yuuta sighs, standing and dropping the apple back into a paper bag and rolling it up so it’d tuck neatly in the backpack of supplies they’d been gathering.
“You know eventually, you’ll need to eat something,” He says matter-of-factly.  “If we come across something and you don’t have the energy to fight-”
“I said I’m fine”
Despite the harsh words, Megumi’s voice is monotone, and not all that loud.  In fact, he’s almost whispering.  It only sends a chill of worry through Yuuta’s demeanor.  He’d already been stressing over his well being- not to mention Maki’s, and Itadori’s- it was starting to be a weight on his shoulders keeping an eye on everyone.
It wasn’t that he was burdened by his friends or the guilt they bore, but after a certain amount of time, he just didn’t know how to help anymore.
Yuuji was completely unable to separate himself from Sukuna, taking on the destruction of Shibuya and blaming himself for the entire catastrophe.  All the death, the chaos, and where they found themselves now, the boy could barely keep it together.  Yuuta had only known him for a short amount of time, and even he found his behavior to be unsettling.
Maki had slain her entire bloodline.  All but her sister, who had died trying to protect her, trying to make her stronger, so that when she broke free from their twisted clutches, she was able to take down every single one of them.  Yuuta had barely approached the subject.  No one did, really.  Maki had briefly mentioned it when they all grouped together, and since then, it’d been radio silence.
And Megumi… well, Megumi was still beating himself up over (y/n).  It didn’t matter what anyone said.  It didn’t matter that Yuuji held onto some sliver of hope that she’d made it out of Shibuya before shit really hit the fan.  It was as though Megumi had tuned everything out.  They practically watched him dim before them, a burnt out bulb that wouldn’t light again no matter how much they prodded and tried.
For now, Yuuta let him be.  The gang packed up their supplies from the spot they’d crashed the night before, and without much talk at all began moving again.  Here and there they talked about direction, and brainstormed how to get around stealthily, but other than that, it was mostly a quiet journey.
Megumi remained completely silent.  One hand on the strap of his sleeping bag over his shoulder, the other shoved in his pocket.  Distantly he recognized that his stomach was aching and his mouth was dry, and he was sure he was also in desperate need of a shower, too.  But even as the thoughts crossed his mind, they seemed to float away and fade into nothing.  Just like everything else that tried to fill the time in his head, it was always replaced by the overwhelming gnaw of grief.
Maybe he didn’t deserve to eat.  It wasn’t like there was much food to go around anyways.  Wasn’t everyone else much more deserving of a healthier portion? What had he done in comparison to everyone else in this makeshift group of people who were once peers but now that Jujutsu Society had fallen apart… did they even have anything else in common?
Just as the mental downward spiral began, it was washed away once more by the reminder that it didn’t matter anyways.  Guilt and loss settled at the forefront of his thoughts again, and he kept his head down as he continued walking.
The ironic part about all of this was that if she had been here, she’d laugh at him and smack him upside the head.  Everything matters, dummy, he could almost hear her scolding him, with no bite to her bark, just as always.  She always had something dumb to say like that.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
“Stop being so gloomy, ‘gumi!” She’d hollered, followed by a string of laughter as she skipped up to him, turning her back to Nobara and Yuuji, who happily kept walking along to the next shop on their trip.
“Definitely don’t ever call me that again” He muttered back, crinkling his nose and narrowing his eyes in distaste for the nickname.  She laughed again, stopping just before him on the sidewalk, just as their friends entered a boutique, leaving them behind.
“Oh yeah?” She places her hands on her hips and raises an eyebrow at him, and he wonders if she knows that their friends just abandoned them out here.  “Or what?” She asks defiantly.
He’d taken notice that when she was trying to instigate a bickering match, the corner of her lips tilted up in a proud little smirk.  She tended to get ahead of herself, always certain that she’d win whatever it was they were doing.  From petty arguments on the sidewalk to sparring to missions where she always wanted to compete and one up him.  Although after a while he had to admit it could be a little fun to show off on the easier-to-exorcize curses.
“Dork,” He rolls his eyes without a hint of genuine attitude.  When she gapes at him in mock offense he raises his hand to flick her forehead.  “C’mon, our friends dipped” He starts to head towards the shop Nobara and Yuuji had disappeared into, but she stays put outside.
“Yeah… I sort of let them…” She admits, a small, guilty smile stretching across her lips.  Megumi raises his eyebrows at her, smiling back in amusement.  Usually whatever those two were up to, (y/n) was following behind like an eager duckling.  “What?” She asks innocently.  “I just don’t want to spend all day looking at things I won’t buy and then carrying all of Nobara’s shit!” She defends herself.
Megumi laughs, a real laugh, his eyes crinkling at their corners and his shoulders shaking and everything.  (y/n’s) almost taken aback by the action, surprised that he looked so… joyful.
“Alright, you’ve got a point.  We have an opportunity here, and we should take it while we can” He begins to plot with her, and her smile stretches into a grin as she nods back at him.
“Bookstore and coffee?” She suggests quietly, as if it was more outlandish of an idea than it really was.
Megumi nods affirmatively, tucking his hands in his pockets before turning in the opposite direction, (y/n) following him right away so they could make it there before their friends noticed their departure.
She still pushed his buttons as they made their way to their destination down the street, but he couldn’t help but feel a blossom of warmth in his chest that for once he was the one getting her to tag alongside him.  He would never admit it, opting to poke back at her the rest of the day like nothing had changed, but it had felt… good.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
The day that annoying chirping flyhead had announced a culling game, Megumi felt a glimmer of hope spark inside of him that he barely recognized.  It had only been nine or so days since the incident, but it seemed like ages since he’d felt optimistic about something- anything.
But as the flyhead spouted off the rules to the games, he’d hoped that a lineup would be included.  Surely with so many sorcerers pitted against each other, there must be some condition of having all of the participants and their points on display, right?
The others recognized a change in him then, an eagerness, an impatience as he barely took in what the flyhead was announcing, only waiting to hear what he wanted.
Announce the players’ names, he silently pleaded with the damn thing.  Say her name, tell me she’s a participant, tell me she’s alive.
But the rules concluded, the flyhead seemingly disappeared, and Megumi felt like a fucking idiot.
Yuuji and Yuuta shared a look, and the pink haired boy turned to give his friend an apologetic expression.  He opened his mouth to say something, but Megumi tightened his hold on the strap of his sleeping bag and kept walking before he could say anything.
He didn’t want to hear any bullshit about maybes or what ifs.  He just wanted to get to the next safe place by nightfall so he could lay awake on his sleeping bag for eight hours, and then repeat this whole cycle again tomorrow.
His ever so present grief and his growing hunger was starting to blend into a concoction that made him more stand-offish than usual.  The others had almost cracked, barely acknowledging him at this point, simply not knowing how.  Yuuji still tried, of course.  Forcing a water bottle in his face, or a piece of food that hadn’t gone totally bad.  He’d maybe had a few bites here or there in the last few days, not nearly enough to keep up his energy, but somehow he pushed through anyways.
Don’t get him wrong, he wasn’t finding some hidden source of energy, he wasn’t persevering, and he certainly wasn’t living because he had to.  If he was being honest, he’d been wondering why his body hadn’t given out on him yet.  Nothing felt good anymore.  If it wasn’t numb, it ached, and neither one of those options was more of a relief than the other.
He wasn’t pushing through the unmovable force of his grief.  (y/n)... Nobara… Gojo… Nanami…  He wasn’t staying strong in their memory, and if anything, he wished his body would just give up already so he wasn’t such a burden to those around him.  Megumi spent most of his time in his own head, but he wasn’t completely oblivious.  He saw the way the others talked about him with only their eyes.  Short, worried glances exchanged on his behalf, each of them trying to silently convince the others to do something first, no one wanting to be the one to address it.
Tonight when he rolls out his holey sleeping bag and lays back on it, he stares at the starless sky and pleads with it.  He begs the rolling clouds and inky black night to let him close his eyes, just this once, so that he won’t have to open them again.
He can’t possibly spend another long night wide awake, thinking about his hunger, thinking about her, no matter how hard he tries to shove it all deep, deep down and ignore it.
As exhausted as he is physically, sleep never takes over his body.
A tear rolls out of the corner of his eye, trekking slowly down his cheekbone.  It lingers at his jaw, fat and wobbly as he clenches his teeth together as hard as he can stand it, desperate to make this tear the last.
It falls with a near silent splat against the nylon material he lays on.
The following little splats come in quick succession, seemingly a little louder as they fall one after the other.  Megumi chokes down the sobs to be sure no one else could catch wind of his breakdown.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
She momentarily glances up at him when he enters the room, only to scowl and turn away as soon as she recognizes it’s him.  Megumi fights the urge to roll his eyes, sliding the infirmary door shut and tucking his hands into his pockets as he approaches her.
“I’m not talking to you,”
Despite her sharp glare, he laughs at the ironic statement.
“I mean it.  I’m still mad at you,” She spits out, turning back to where she was stitching up the gash in her upper arm.
It was a nasty thing to look at, and probably worse to patch up on her own, but it wouldn’t be the first time she’d gotten back from an assignment too late to request Shoko’s help- and reverse cursed technique.
“Seriously,” There’s more of a bite to her tone when she plunges the needle through the narrow end of the wound.  “Just go”
She’s hissing and clenching her jaw before pulling the needle through and doing it again, trying to keep her stitches even.  It wasn’t the easiest task with her non-dominant hand, but she didn’t want to show an ounce of struggle.
“You sure talk a lot for not talking to me” Megumi hums, still coming closer, despite her warnings.
He earns himself another glare, but he ignores it, stepping up to where she’s sat on the edge of one of the paper-covered cots.  She flinches as though to lean away from him, and he raises a brow at her.
“You want sloppy stitches?” He asks pointedly, voice hushed and lacking any emotion.  “Fine by me, have it heal weird if that’s what you want”
He starts to step away, and (y/n) huffs.  Her eyes shut and her shoulders slump, and he takes her nonverbal defeat as his cue to pluck the needle from her hand and get to work.  She wouldn’t say so out loud, but she knew his hand was steadier than hers anyways.
He works quickly and diligently.  His free hand placed gently around her arm to make sure it stays still as he stitches up the gnarly cut.  She tries not to react to how cold it is to the touch, but her muscles flinch when he first makes contact.
“Sorry” He mumbles without much thought, going for the fourth stitch.
“For what, exactly?” (y/n) mutters back with a furrow in her brow.  “For your freakishly cold hands? Or for letting me take this hit back there?”
Megumi doesn’t respond right away, opting to keep his focus on his needlework.  This only annoys her further, and he can practically feel it radiating off of her.  He knew it was a matter of seconds before she blew up at him, she was probably just thinking through what she wanted to say when she screamed his head off.  He could tell her to shut up and stop acting so childish, but he doesn’t.
And he’s not totally sure why.  If this was Yuuji or Nobara in her place, he’d be telling them exactly where they’d gone wrong on that assignment, and to top it off walk them through how they needed to shape up before they took another one.
But it’s not Yuuji or Nobara.  It’s (y/n).  And his mouth stays shut.
Truth was she wasn’t necessarily wrong.  He had technically let her take this hit from a Grade Two curse with a horrific set of claws.  But had he not sent her that way, then she would’ve wanted to tag team the Grade One with him.  And this particular Grade One had a gore streak in the deaths it had caused around Tokyo.  And on that fact alone, he took it on himself, and ordered (y/n) to take on the Grade Two.
“I mean seriously what the fuck was that? You think you get to boss me around just ‘cause you’ve been doing this a little longer?”
And here she goes.  He braces himself mentally for whatever she was about to throw at him.
“Or is it something else? Hm? You needed the ego boost? Needed to feel like some kind of big strong man, Megumi?” Her eyes narrow at him but he doesn’t cast her a single glance.  His focus remains on the steady movements of stitching her up.  “Did it feel good to play hero? Did you feel good exorcizing that Grade One and laughing when I let a measly little Grade Two take me down-?”
“I wasn’t laughing”
His voice is quieter than hers, and significantly calmer, but it still manages to shut her up.  For a moment, her expression is blank while she still stares at him, and he still keeps his eyes on his task.
A lump forms in her throat, suddenly making it very hard to insult him.  It remains silent between them as Megumi finishes up the last stitch, finishing it off perfectly and dropping the bloody needle on the tray beside the cot.  The metallic thunk echos shortly, and then finally, he turns his attention towards her.
To his surprise, her eyes looked wet.  She couldn’t possibly be holding back tears.  Surely the stitches hurt, she wasn’t invincible, but she was strong, and never showed weakness.  Even when that curse had grabbed her by the arm and he feared it was going to rip it clean off her body, she hadn’t cried.  Screamed and swore, sure, but not a tear was shed the whole way back to campus.
“Think what you will,” He tells her, eyes flickering between hers curiously, wondering what it was that would make her tear up now.  “But I’m not so callous that I would take amusement in your pain,”
She tries to swallow the lump in her throat, but it only burns more, and she hopes that he can’t see the emotion on her face, she hopes that she’s expressionless, cold, even.
“In fact, when I sent you after that curse, it was for the opposite reason.  I was trying to do you a favor”
“A favor?” She repeats, intending to snap the words back at him, but her voice is strained by her burning throat, and instead she almost sounds… lost.  Megumi can’t quite put his finger on it.
He nods his head once in a short motion.
“Sorry you got hurt,” He says, and he means it, but his tone still lacks any sort of emotion.  He plans to keep it that way.  “Just didn’t want to see you get ripped to shreds by a Grade One”
He doesn’t say anything else, and he doesn’t give her the chance to reply, or even fully react to that statement.  Instead he turns around and walks right back out of the infirmary, not so much of a nod in parting as he shuts the door behind him and leaves her completely alone.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
When Megumi had found Yuuji after the incident in Shibuya, he’d ran to him and grabbed him by the shoulders, asking if he was alright and hugging him shortly out of the pure relief that someone was there, someone lived.  Even though Yuuji was in rough shape physically and mentally after everything, he was a person that Megumi could see and touch, and relief flooded through him like pure ecstasy.
“Nobara?” He’d asked, unable to finish the rest of the question.  He didn’t have to for Yuuji to understand.
Yuuji didn’t have to answer aloud for Megumi to understand.  His glossy eyes turned away, desperate for something else to catch his attention before he thought too hard about the fate their friend befell.
Megumi frowned, his throat going dry as he swallowed harshly.
He didn’t want to ask anymore questions.  He wanted to relish the lone fact that Yuuji, his best friend, was alive and standing in front of him.  He not only lived through the catastrophe but they’d reunited.  He wished he could hold onto that joy for just a moment longer.  But he couldn’t help himself from asking another burning question in his mind.
“A-and (y/n)?” He stammered out uncharacteristically.  His panic was evident in his wide eyes and tightening grip on Yuuji’s shoulders.  The pink haired boy looked back at him in alarm.  “She- she left Nanami’s team to come find you, did she?” He explained the situation poorly, not wanting to waste time talking if Yuuji had an answer for him.
He doesn’t respond right away.
“Did she find you?” He asks again, his voice quieter as his features begin to fall.
His heart hammered in his chest in a way he’d never felt before.  A deep rooted fear he can’t recall ever having before, even as a toddler and fearing a monster under the bed didn’t hold up against the icy hot pins forcing their way through his bloodstream now.  His face felt hot as it went pale.  The back of his neck felt sweaty as a cool breeze hit it.  He was sure he was about to have a seizure, the panic was all too much.  The longer Yuuji didn’t give him an outright response, the worse the taste of bile in Megumi’s throat became.
“I did see her,” Yuuji finally mumbles out, dropping his eyes to his hands, which he held palms up and trembling before him.  “After Choso- the people that…” Yuuji coughs, the need to vomit suddenly pushing through his mind and throat.  “She was trying to exorcize them all,”
He was struggling to explain what he recalled seeing that night.  It was all too brutal, and his mind was trying to push the trauma into a dark corner where he couldn’t think about it if he tried.  But this was important.  Megumi needed to know.
“She… she was crying,” Yuuji looked up at Megumi again, who furrowed his brows and shook his head.  “She knew they were still people deep down, like… Junpei”
Megumi’s head shaking grew more rapid as he processed this all too slowly for his liking.
“And then?” He asked.  “And then what? Where’d she go? You got split up?” Question after question tumbled out of his mouth so quick his words began to slur together.
Yuuji wanted to cry just seeing him so worried sick, much less actually remember what happened.
“I… I didn’t see,” The pink haired boy admitted quietly, shame bringing his eyes downcast again.  “I’m sorry, Megumi.  W- we got separated.  But there… there were so many of them…”
Megumi had stepped away, his hands falling from Yuuji’s shoulders, hanging heavy at his sides as he took a larger step back.
“I tried to find her,” Yuuji’s voice cracked as he hoped to explain himself.  “Really I- I didn’t want to abandon her, I didn’t want to leave her there, not after everything she did to get to me- she- fuck- she probably saved my life showing up when she did!”
He could register that Yuuji was still speaking, but Megumi could hardly make all of it out.  His vision was clouding over, and his entire body felt weak, as though he could collapse at any point.  He hadn’t even realized he was heaving until Yuuji, Maki, and Yuuta were crowded around him and helping him slowly down to the ground to calm him down.
He’d never had a panic attack before.
Finding out that (y/l/n) (y/n) had likely died along with countless others in Shibuya struck the first of several panic induced attacks.  Most of which he managed to keep hidden from the others, but some hit so hard and so suddenly that it was near impossible to work through it in private.
He’d been replaying Yuuji’s account of that night over and over in his head for days now, trying to find some sort of hope that she could’ve gotten out of that train station before all hell broke loose.  But with a hazy recollection and no other witnesses, it was hard to pretend that she made it out alive.
At first he’d spent time looking for signs of her as they traveled.  Any remains of camps he was sifting through, hoping to find that familiar necklace she always wore, or the shortsword she’d carried that night, something- anything that could point to a sign of her still being out there somewhere.
But now he barely lifted his head as he followed the group blindly, kicking at loose rubble and keeping a tight hold on his unraveling sleeping bag that was almost at the end of it’s lifespan.  There would be no use in holding onto a tattered rag of nylon.
There wasn’t a chance he’d ever see her again.  His denial was beginning to fade, reality giving him a cold slap to the face to wake him up.  It was harsh.  It left him rough around the edges, literally and figuratively.  His facial features were sharper, and devoid of color.  His muscles were sore, only growing more so the longer he put off eating a proper meal.  If he kept this up he knew there would only be a few more sleepless nights until he didn’t stand back up in the morning.
And still, when he was offered a piece of food, he took a mere few bites before excusing himself to go lay on his ruined sleeping bag and stare at the sky.
He cursed it when it was empty and dull.  He cursed it when it was full of twinkling stars and a bright moon.  It was never quite right.
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
“Y’know any constellations?”
Megumi startled upon hearing her tired voice creep up behind him.  When he turned to see her shuffling out of the doors in her bare feet and ducky-print pajama shorts and matching tee, he could almost laugh.  She was yawning, her eyes shut as she rubbed at them with the ball of her fist.  She looked like a child.
“It’s late” He muttered when she waddled up next to him sleepily.
“No shit,” She grumbles back with a roll of her eyes.  “So? Y’know any constellations or not?”
Megumi wasn’t sure what exactly she was doing out here.  Had she heard him sneak out of his room to step out for fresh air? He’d left fifteen or so minutes ago.  If he’d woken her up, surely she would’ve followed him out here sooner than now.
Not to mention, she’d barely spoken to him since their last assignment together, and their sort-of argument in the infirmary.  The few times she had addressed him had only been out of courtesy to their present friends.  But even then, her eyes never quite met his, and her words were short.
“Actually, yeah,” Megumi hums thoughtfully.  “Tsumiki loved ‘em.  She used to show me when I was little”
(y/n) nods, wrapping her arms around herself after realizing she wouldn’t relieve the ache in her eyes if she kept irritating them.  She lets out a soft sigh as she stands beside him, tilting her head back to glance across the sky.  She wasn’t sure of the last time she’d appreciated the stars.  It must have been when she was still a child.
Megumi clears his throat uncomfortably, before raising his hand to trace a pattern in the sky.
“Obviously that’s the Orion’s belt,” He says, before mapping out the rest of the hunter’s shape.  “The rest of Orion,” He mumbles, and he’s surprised when he glances down to see (y/n) carefully following his hand.  He wonders if she can see it the way he does, like the picture in the Astronomy book Tsumiki used to haul around.  Curious to see how interested she really was, he continued on to another constellation.  “That’s Ursa Major,” He says, tracing the shape out slowly to give her time to adjust to the image.  “And, uh, Ursa Minor is… there” He does the same for both bears.
(y/n) hums curiously, a small smile tugging at her lips in amusement.  She never would have guessed that Astronomy of all things was one of Megumi’s interests.
“Do you know what your star sign is?” He asks, dropping his hand and glancing down at her.  She raises a brow at him in surprise, slowly delivering her answer, half expecting him to come up short and sheepishly admit he didn’t know where that one was.
But he surprises her again, eyes darting around the sky for a matter of seconds before finding it in seconds and dragging his fingers along the main stars of her constellation with a great amount of ease.
“Alright, that’s pretty cool,” She finally confesses, shyly glancing up at him.  “You’re a pretty good brother for learning all of this” She tells him.
His attention is brought back down to her as soon as she says it, finding a soft smile on her face and a look in her eyes that he can’t quite decipher.  He thinks it’s akin to worry, perhaps empathy.  His eyes flicker between hers a few times as he tries to pinpoint exactly what it is.  She doesn’t shy away from his long silence accompanied by the eye contact that made her feel like she was an artifact under glass.
It’s quiet for a while, until eventually Megumi looks back up at the sky again.  She wonders what brought him out here to begin with, but she doesn’t ask.  Instead, she clasps her hands together behind her back and admires the stars with him.
“What else can you show me?”
✩₊˚.⋆☾⋆⁺₊✧
If it had been up to him, Megumi would’ve rather stayed behind at Jujutsu Tech to guard Tengen.  Maybe if he’d sat alone in the warping hallways of the school he could pass out from the mindfuckery of it all.  Then maybe, once Kenjaku arrived…
It doesn’t matter now.  Yuki and Choso had already decided they’d be the ones to stand guard.  He and Yuuji were already on their way to find Hakari, and there was no point in changing plans now.  Besides, he didn’t want to burden Yuuji any further than he was sure he already had.
“So, you’ve met this guy?”
Yuuji’s the first to speak, and Megumi doesn’t exactly have an answer.  He shrugs his shoulders and tilts his head side to side with a blank expression.
“Sort of.  I guess”
Yuuji waits for further explanation, but after a few beats of silence, he realizes that Megumi isn’t going to explain what that means.
“Okay… well, do you think we can convince him to help us?”
“Don’t know” Megumi replies.
Yuuji frowns, and turns his gaze forward, fixing it straight ahead before slowly exhaling through his nose to ease his nerves.
Megumi glances at him out of his peripheral vision, and seeing his clear disappointment in his features, huffs out a breath and tries to explain himself.
“I met him for, like, a minute.  One time.  Before I was even enrolled at Jujutsu Tech,” He said.
Yuuji turned towards his friend with a grin, eager to hear him opening up, or at least, trying to.  For once he keeps his mouth shut in the hopes that Megumi continues to talk.
“Gojo introduced me,” He went on.  “And I really don’t know if he’ll help us.  He’s a bit… eccentric” He mutters the last part with distaste.
“Like Gojo?” Yuuji chuckles, and Megumi tilts his head from shoulder to shoulder once more.
“If Gojo had a gambling addiction so twisted it got him kicked out of school, then… maybe”
Yuuji’s eyes widened, and he snapped his mouth shut before he could ask any other questions.  Megumi’s patience may have been thin- and perhaps nonexistent at this point- but he had a feeling that he should let his friend save up some energy for his social battery.  If Hakari is anything like Gojo, then he’d certainly need it.
When they stop to rest it’s not for long.  Yuuji gets Megumi to eat a bit more than usual, though not by much, he takes it as a good sign.  They rest just long enough to soothe the ache in their feet, but as soon as they’re moving again, the pain returns.  Neither one of them complained.
THe sun was just starting to set when they finally reached their destination.  Megumi stopped them both just on the perimeter of the territory.  An unsettling feeling spiking in his chest had his instincts telling him not to step any closer without a plan.
Silently, he glances over to Yuuji, who’s already surveying the area.  He must have felt it, too.
“Cursed energy?” Yuuji mumbles, his brows furrowed as he meets Megumi’s hard stare.
The dark haired boy nods his head once in confirmation.
“Yeah,” He hums back.  “And a lot of it”
It was impossible to ignore.  Cursed energy in great quantities had a natural buzz, like static electricity in the air.  This wasn’t that at all.  If Megumi closed his eyes and focused on it, he was sure he could feel the ground below him vibrating with thick waves of energy.
One thing was for sure, they were in the right place.  But whatever it was that was happening here put him on edge.
“Keep your guard up,” He muttered, stepping past the brush they’d been hiding behind and heading towards the building.  He tucked his hands into his pockets as he glanced over his shoulder to make sure Yuuji was following.  “And your expectations low” He adds upon seeing the grin on his friend’s face.

“Arms up, Megumi!”
Despite her offensive stance and the glow of cursed energy around her fists, (y/n’s) voice was full of pure delight.  Sometimes when Megumi would spar with her, he would be reminded of Maki.  He never understood why she never sought her out instead, surely the older sorcerer was a better match for her twisted delight with training.  Nonetheless, here he was on a Saturday, rolling his eyes as he raised his hands to keep his face behind his arms so that when she hit him she didn’t break anything.
(y/n) spoke as if she could read his thoughts.
“Skipping out on training doesn’t get you to Grade One, y’know,” She told him as they started circling.  “And if Yuuji can’t teach me Black Flash, I’ll have to learn it myself!”
“Did you even ask Nanami?” Megumi grumbles, already knowing her answer.
She wasn’t one to ask for help.  Only ever requesting a training partner- or victim, as Nobara had once affectionately put it.
She didn’t give him an answer anyways, throwing a fist towards his exposed stomach, trying to apply her cursed energy at the last possible moment.  She not only didn’t succeed in using Black Flash, but she missed hitting him too, as he dodged with a graceful sidestep.
“If you’re so scared, why’d you say yes?” (y/n) asked, gearing up to find a weaker spot on him to aim for.
He doesn’t want to answer that, but she clearly isn’t going to make her attack until he gives her something, so he huffs.
“No one else would wake up at this hour on a weekend” He says lamely.  It feels like a lie when he says it, even though Megumi knows it’s the truth.
It was seven in the morning, after all.  Yuuji and Nobara likely wouldn’t be awake for a few more hours.  If (y/n) needed a partner to train, her options were severely limited.
“Guess you’re right” She shrugs.
In the same motion she throws another punch at him, this time her cursed energy crackling in her hand, giving her some hope. But even though she landed a hit on his shoulder, it was still unsuccessful.
She groans loudly, to which Megumi scowls, seeing as he was the one that just got punched.  He rolls his shoulder to work out the ache before taking his defensive stance again, waiting for her to try again.
“You’re not in the right mindset” He points out.
She raises a brow at him.
“You wanna chase me around a bit?” She suggests, only half jokingly.  Megumi snorts, but stops himself before he could actually laugh at the idea.
“No,” He shakes his head.  “You should try something else”
“Like what?”
“I don’t know,” He huffs, annoyed for trying to walk her through a technique he’d never even used.  Still, he finds himself brainstorming another approach.  “Try psyching out,” He suggests, nodding his head as he thinks it through.  “It’d be more effective that way anyways.  If you’re using hand-to-hand with an opponent but don’t lead with it, you’ve got the element of surprise on your side, too,”
(y/n) nods along with him, finding the advice to be surprisingly solid.
“So if you let them underestimate you, then catch them off guard, you’d probably be good as gold” He finished.
She beams at him as she raises her fists again, ready to take his advice out on him right away.
“Just remember you suggested it when I take you to the infirmary later” She teases.
Megumi smirks, widening his stance and raising his arms to protect his face again.
“You’ll still have to figure out the technique” He reminds, but the coy look on his face suggests that he had no doubt in his mind that she could master it in no time.

The inside of the building was so loud and rambunctious, it was downright overstimulating.  Megumi fought the urge to cover his ears as soon as they entered the premises.  Crowds of people swarmed multiple levels- he counted about six before getting distracted by all the pushing and shoving- and it was no secret what it was they were wildly rooting for.
“A fighting ring, huh?” Yuuji grinned, not out of delight for the sport, but surprise for the timing of a setting like this.  Did these people even know about the games?
“Great,” Megumi clicked his tongue bitterly as he surveyed the crowds with a furrow in his brow.  “Should’ve expected he’d pull some shit like this” He muttered too low for Yuuji to make out what he was grumbling about.
The squared ring where the current match was taking place wasn’t too far from where Yuuji and Megumi found themselves, but with all of the people in the way it made it difficult for them to see who was winning.  Too many arms in the air with money in their fists blocked the fight.  But it seemed whoever was up there was getting thrown around like a ragdoll.  The sound of a body rapidly being smacked against the rough mat or against the chains surrounding the ring were heard in quick succession.
However despite the sound of someone being brutalized, the match continued.  Neither of them have caught a glimpse of either combatant, but they knew it must’ve been an impressive lineup as it had been a few minutes of this now.
“Is this even legal?” Yuuji asked.  Megumi scoffed, although he wasn’t trying to deliver a rude response.
“Not even a little bit” He mutters back with a shake of his head.
Wordlessly, they decide they’re going to push through the horde of chanting people to get a better look at what was going on.  They pause in their shoving when a booming voice erupts from an intercom, the screech of an excited announcer sounding throughout the building and echoing across the concrete infrastructure.
“Place your final bets now!” He drawled every word out for dramatic effect.  “Will our resident Panda live to see another day?”
Yuuji and Megumi locked eyes instantly, and without having to say a thing, began pushing and shoving forward again.  The sea of people cast them dirty looks and occasionally pushed back to scold them for their rude behavior, but they paid it no mind.
There could only be one Panda in that ring, right?
Sure enough when they got closer to the square, they could see the wide, furry expanse of a panda- The Panda’s- back.  His shoulders were trembling, not from pain or fear, but from the rambunctious laughter he let out.  He raised his paws, tilting his head back as his howl boomed.
Yuuji’s face brightened excitedly upon seeing their old friend.  Megumi couldn’t help but feel some relief as well.  Neither of them had considered the possibility of scattered sorcerers they knew being here.
They were close enough now that when Panda spoke, they could make out what he was saying.  The crowd around them was too busy screaming and chanting threatening cheers to care about what the fighters in the ring were saying to one another, but Yuuji and Megumi did their best to listen in.
“Just try not to knock me out this time!” Panda said through his laughter.
Was he throwing the fight? Megumi didn’t quite understand the context to this statement.
“Last time they didn’t bother to move me off the ring, I slept here all night!” Panda continued, his laughing ceasing as he took on an irritated tone.  “Ruined my back!”
His opponent only laughed.  Something feminine and twisted, but undoubtedly genuine.
Megumi’s heart plummeted to his stomach.  He recognized that sound.
When Panda’s body was knocked back into the chains of the ring from a swift but heavy kick to the chest, his opponent was finally made visible.
A girl.  Not that girls couldn’t fight, but this particular girl had a cutthroat attitude when it came to fistfighting a bear.  It seemed every swing of her arms as she landed hit after hit on him grew faster in speed.  Half of her face was covered with a black mask, but the bloodied grin on her face was that of someone who believed they couldn’t possibly lose, no matter what beast of an opponent they might face.
Recognition flashed in Megumi’s face, making him go pale as he watched her strike two blows to Panda’s jaw so quickly it had to have given him whiplash, sending his furry head back and forth with such great force.
If Panda was throwing the fight, it didn’t really look like it.  He blocked a hit here and there with his massive paws, but she always seemed to move quicker to outsmart him.  Ducking and weaving around him with graceful feet and agile movements to keep herself from getting caught by him again.  Clearly she’d learned a lesson when he’d been throwing her around earlier.
When Panda did try to land a hit on her again, she grabbed his large wrist in one hand, still grinning as she used the momentum of his swing to swing herself forward and kick her feet into his chest.
The first from the right foot, directly against his ribcage, knocking all wind out of him.
The crowd began to go wild, anticipating something Megumi hadn’t caught onto yet.
The second from the left foot, kicking lower against his stomach, making him curl over and heave.
But before he could catch his breath or clutch his stomach, she struck with her right foot again.
The third and final blow came with a shock of blue energy, an abundant amount of cursed energy striking him in the chest so hard it sent him a few feet backwards, crashing into the chains and crumpling to the mat in a heap of black and white.
It was undoubtedly Black Flash.
She didn’t taunt him as the referee began his countdown before calling a knock out and declaring her a winner.  She didn’t strut around or try to rile up her fans in the crowd.  Not that she needed to, the people around Megumi and Yuuji were clawing at their own faces in astonishment from watching her take her opponent down with ease and showmanship.
And when the match was officially over and the announcer was hyping the crowd up for the next fight over the intercom, she slid out of the ring and left the area without so much as a wave.  It took a few minutes for Panda to get up, but eventually he was sauntering his way out of the ring too, waving to the few people who were his diehard fans and didn’t take his defeat tonight as anything more than some bad luck.
“Come on” Megumi beckoned Yuuji to follow him, his feet already moving as fast as they could take him through the mob, struggling to follow the exact direction that Panda and his opponent before him had gone.
Yuuji kept up fairly well, but Megumi wouldn’t have noticed.  He was driven forward by absolute panic, his heart racing in his chest with a feeling he’d thought he’d relinquished days ago when he’d tried to stop living in denial.
But he couldn’t get the image of that girl out of his mind.  She was so… he couldn’t get his hopes up.  Her laugh was so familiar he couldn’t have possibly mistaken it for someone else's… he shouldn’t get his hopes up.
“Yo! Panda!”
Eventually the crowd thinned out enough that Yuuji tried using the power of his loud holler to get their friend’s attention.  Panda perked up immediately, spinning around and searching the crowd for the familiar voice.  It didn’t take long for his eyes to land on the waving boy with the unmistakable head of pink hair.  He grinned, and his ears twitched a bit as he turned completely and began to make his way towards the pair.
“Itadori!” He beams wider as he reaches them, as if they could have turned out to be figments of his imagination.  “Fushiguro!”
He hugs them both at once before either could protest.
“I can’t believe you’re here! Did you come to see me fight?” He laughs at his own joke, shaking his head before they could even say anything.  “Really though, what are you doing here? It’s not as fun as it looks, y’know”
“We’re looking to talk to Hakari-”
“Who was that with you?” Megumi speaks up before Yuuji could begin his explanation.
Yuuji turns to him with a confused look, which Panda shares for a moment, before he chuckles.
“She went down that way,” He said, pointing behind him in the direction he’d been heading.  “(y/n/n) always ditches fights fast.  Hates the crowd, I guess.  Not me, I love the-”
“Wait, (y/n/n)?” Yuuji repeats the semi-familiar nickname, his jaw going slack and his eyes widening.
He turns to share a look with Megumi, but it seemed the raven haired boy was already processing just whose nickname that could’ve been.  His face was flushed so pale he looked sick.
“As in (y/n)-(y/n/n)?” Yuuji continues.
“Yeah,” Panda nods affirmatively, not understanding just how devastating his casual response was for the younger sorcerers in front of him.  “She’s-”
“She’s alive?” Megumi finally speaks.
His voice is hardly above a whisper, but the words are like a dropping bomb.  Clear, and unmistakable.
Panda blinks in shock, his features contorting in realization as he looks between his two friends.  He doesn’t know what to say, doesn’t even know where to start.
So he nods his head, and turns to point down the corridor he’d been heading once more.
He gives them specific directions to where she’d been likely to go.  Megumi listens but doesn’t quite hear a thing he’s saying.  His heart is pounding in his ears, his body is going hot, and even once his feet are moving on their own accord- apparently having understood the directions just fine without his ears- he frets that he might break down into a panic attack if he’s not quick enough.
The warning signs are there, the labored breaths, the hot and cold flashes in quick succession, his blurring vision- but he ignores all of it, racing through what was left of the crowd to slip into the near empty corridor.  Yuuji is hot on his tail as they dart through, eyes moving in all directions at every doorway and passerby, just to be sure that they wouldn’t miss her.
“(y/n)?”
Her name leaves his mouth in a strangled choke of syllables, as though it were his first time speaking in months.
She hadn’t been facing his direction, her hand still on the handle of the door she was about to open.  Her movements had been rushed, like she were hoping to sneak into the room and lock the door behind her as quickly as possible.
But now, as her hand stilled and a chill shot up her spine at the familiar voice, her movements were far too slow as she turned towards the owner of said voice.
Megumi and Yuuji are standing a few feet down the hall, their heavy footsteps having skid to a stop when they finally did see her.  She’s closer to them now than she had been in the ring, and although she still wore the mask, she was far more recognizable now.
Her hand trembles as she raises a hand to her head, pulling at the black material of her mask until it gives way, sliding off her head and pooling in the palm of her hand, revealing her face completely now.
Her eyes were wide as they moved between Yuuji and Megumi slowly, disbelief written in her features from the way her brows drew together, to the part in her lips but no words coming out, to the way her eyes began to water as they snapped back into reality and began to move closer to her.
“Megumi?” She drops his name in a mumble, barely audible even to herself, but seeing him here, right now, has her in such a state of shock that she could have believed Panda threw her around too rough and now she was experiencing delusions.
But then she’s moving too, her feet shuffling at first before picking up pace and running towards them once she’s close enough that she didn’t even need to.
“(y/n)!” Yuuji cheers when they’re huddled close together again.
“Yuuji!” She throws her arms around his neck and hugs him tight, rocking back and forth in bliss upon seeing her beloved friend safe and before her now.
When they part, Megumi still hasn’t figured out what it is he should even say.  He doesn’t know where to start, doesn’t know what to do with his hands, and suddenly feels so anxious he worries he might throw up.  To his luck, (y/n) acts before he has to, and she’s giving him the same warm welcome.
Her arms are tight around his shoulders, and her fingers curl into the material at the back of his uniform jacket.  She gathers the fabric in her fists, making sure that he won’t pull away until she’s squeezed every bit of comfort out of his embrace as possible.
And to her surprise, he returns to affection with more force than she would’ve thought.  One arm around her waist, keeping her snug against his chest, the other laying upwards against her spine so that he could bury his hand in her hair and cradle her head close to him.  He’s shaking, she can feel it, and she pushes closer until her face is buried against his shoulder, hoping to ease his panic.
“We- I thought-” He gasps between struggling breaths, and she’s never heard him sound so broken.  He drops his head so his lips hover over her ear when he finds his voice again.  “I thought you were dead”
Her heart spikes with an odd feeling, and she squeezes him a little harder before pulling back.
“Alive as ever” She says with a weak smile and an awkward shrug of her shoulders.
Megumi has to shove his hands into his pockets to hide their obvious trembling.  The rush of adrenaline in his system hadn’t quite worn off yet, and at this rate he wasn’t sure that it would.
“Well what happened?” Yuuji asked.  “How’d you end up here?”
She lets out a humorless chuckle before wincing.
“It’s… it’s not an interesting story,” She explains, then beckons with her hand to have them follow her back to her door.  “Here, I sorta have my own space, if you want to come in I can tell you about it, and then you can tell me what you’re doing here, too”
Yuuji begins a long winded rant right away.  He tells her all about meeting Yuuta and dying again, and despite Megumi sending him a dirty look for going into too much depth about the parts that didn’t matter as much, (y/n) was an attentive listener, taking in every detail and asking him questions, too.  A lot about Yuuta, seeing as she hadn’t crossed paths with him in months, it was good to know he was still out there and on their side.  Yuuji continued on about the culling games, and how they had come here originally looking for Hakari.
“But then we found you and Panda- hey wait, do you know Hakari?” Yuuji asked excitedly.  “Maybe you could talk to him for us-!”
Her eyes widen with uncertainty, a nervous smile stretching over her lips as she shakes her head quickly.
“I- I don’t know about that,” She tells him.  “He doesn’t really come out much, I think I’ve seen him once since getting here.  I wasn’t exactly trying to get on his radar.  He doesn’t love those affiliated with Jujutsu Tech, you know”
“What? Why! He must like you, your fight was very entertaining!” Yuuji gushes.  Megumi sends him another look that he ignores.  “And you mastered Black Flash! He’s got to be interested in- ow!”
Megumi smacked his hand upside the back of Yuuji’s head, making sure this time that he didn’t miss the look he was giving him.  His displeasure wasn’t exactly subtle.  (y/n) laughed through her nose at the pair that hadn’t seemed to change too much in their time apart.
Besides the fact that Yuuji had a few more scars on his face.  And Megumi looked like he had lost a bit of weight.  Besides that, their demeanors hadn’t changed one bit.  For a second at a time, she could pretend things were normal again.
“Go find Panda and tell him our plan,” Megumi orders gruffly.  “See if he has any ideas on how to get Hakari to see us”
“What? But-!”
Megumi widened his eyes, silently telling Yuuji to go.  The pink haired boy huffed, but stood from his seat on the floor and shuffled towards the door.
“And keep a low profile!” Megumi called, only for Yuuji to wave him off nonchalantly before shutting the door behind him.
(y/n) chuckled when it was just the two of them, turning to face him again.
“So,” She breathes out a heavier exhale than she’d expected.  “How’s he really holding up?”
“How you’d expect,” Megumi replies honestly.  “It was really rough for a while.  We all were… pretty messed up.  Still are, I guess”
(y/n) frowns.
“Yeah,” She mumbles.  “Shibuya… was…” She drops her head before she could finish her thought.  There wasn’t a word strong enough to explain the devastation of the incident.
Megumi’s fingers begin to twitch, fiddling and locking together as he thought over what he wanted to say next.
“Look, before we…” He starts, but loses momentum quickly.  He clears his throat to try again.  “When I last saw you, I-”
“It’s okay,” (y/n) cuts him off before he could say anything more.  The face he makes is uncertain, and she gives him a nod as she repeats herself.  “Really, Megumi, it’s okay.  It was just a fight, it didn’t mean anything”
“But I-” He starts, only for her to shake her head again.  “But it did mean something” He argues.
“We fought a lot, Megumi,” (y/n) chuckles.  “Trust me, if I was holding onto resentment over every time we ever argued, you wouldn’t be sitting here right now”
“No- not like that,” Megumi shakes his head.  “It meant something because you left and I- I didn’t think I’d ever see you again, (y/n),” His voice holds a grave tone that has her kind smile faltering and her brows pinching together as she watches him.  “Yuuji said he lost track of you when you were dealing with all the transfigured humans and- and then you were just gone”
(y/n) blinks, her mouth opening and closing a few times as she realizes just how long it had been since they’d seen each other.  How long he must’ve carried around guilt and grief over her.  It makes her heart sink, and she shuffles forward on her knees to sit closer to him.
“I got dragged out of the train station pretty quick,” She tells him.  “There were so many of… them… and I knew that I was worrying Yuuji while exorcizing them.  Cause- cause it didn’t feel like exorcizing,”
Megumi nods, recalling how Yuuji had told him she’d been crying during the whole ordeal, something quite out of character for her.  Even now as her eyes begin to tear up, the sight is alarming.
“It felt like… like killing,” She whispers.  “So I started leading them away and got outnumbered and got dragged out further.  By the time I… once they were all gone, I was out of it.  I must’ve passed out or something, because when I came to, Shibuya was… gone.  I tried finding you- I tried finding anyone-” She tries to catch her wording, but she’s not quick enough.  “But it was just rubble and dust.  It was nothing.  After a while of trying to find somewhere to land to… to rest and regain some strength, I found this place and Panda with it and I just… stayed.  It sort of started to feel like this is all that was left,”
She lets out a shaky sigh, rubbing her clammy hands over her thighs to relieve some of the stress building up in her body.  It doesn’t do much, but she continues the action a few more times.
“You know, I didn’t necessarily think I’d ever see you again, either,” Her eyes are downcast as she speaks.  “For a while I wondered, um, if you’d show up here…”
“Sorry it took so long,” Megumi replies quietly.  She lets out a short, watery chuckle.  “But we’re here now,” He adds, moving closer to her, until she looks up at him, surprised by the sudden close proximity.  Her eyes are wide as they flicker quickly over his face, trying to read his expression.
It was a new one for Megumi, one she’s not sure she’s ever seen on him before.  Except maybe the night in the infirmary, when he’d stitched up her arm.  Her face feels warm, and she can’t decide if it’s because of the memory, or if it’s because of how close he is to her.
“And I’m not going anywhere without you” He tells her.  His voice is low, but instinctively, she doesn’t feel a shroud of doubt in his words.
She blinks to try to rid the tears from her eyes, but after reliving the last week and a half, and reuniting with the people she’d been naively hoping were just missing and not gone was starting to get on top of her.  She’d spent quite some time shoving down bitter thoughts and choosing to stay in denial.  As long as she focused on her matches and made enough of an earning to have a place to crash, she tried to stay as blissfully ignorant as possible.
Still, there had been a few sleepless nights when she’d wander outside and try to find a few constellations in the sky, or when she’d lay wide awake and let the tip of her finger trace over the perfectly straight scar on her shoulder.
“Really?”
The question comes out with a shaky breath.  She held no uncertainty in him, Megumi was a man who was always true to his word, but reality was beginning to settle in and the urge to hold on to him and never let go was growing stronger.
Megumi nods, clearly amused that she even had to ask.  It felt like the first time in a long time that a smile began to twitch on his lips, the muscle feeling awkward from underuse.  His eyes gleam as he reiterates his intentions.
“We’re not splitting up again,” He tells her, a weight hanging on to each word.  His eyes move between hers, and when she blinks, a tear sticks to her lashes.  “I’m not losing you again” He adds in a smaller voice.
A choked sound that almost sounded like a laugh comes out of her as she nods back at him, shaky and fast.  For once, agreeing with him completely.
To (y/n), there had always been something about Megumi that drew her to him.  He was easy to pick on, easy to tease and laugh at.  She found joy in their banter, even when it was less petty and more serious, there was a magnetic spark between them that she just couldn’t deny.  She’d tried to explore that feeling, before Shibuya.  But she’d never known how exactly to approach it, always becoming apprehensive of the foreign feeling.
Now, it felt so easy to jump into the unknown territory that she felt silly for never having worked up the courage to do so before.  The fear of losing someone she cared so much about was too great, and there was no time to waste.
Her tear dropped onto her cheek, the fat droplet rolling slowly across her skin until it dipped into the edge of her wobbly smile.  A few more followed shortly after, unable to be stopped no matter how hard she willed herself not to cry.
Just as she raised the back of her hand to hastily rub the wetness away, Megumi beat her to it, moving closer to her as both hands worked softly to catch each tear.  They were cold against the hot wet skin, just as she’d remembered, and she found herself shutting her eyes and leaning into how comforting they felt.  The tears didn’t stop, but she didn’t seem to be in any anguish.
“I’m not losing you again either,” She whispers, her fingers skimming over his wrist before she clasps her hand around it, making sure he doesn’t pull away just yet.  “I- I can’t” The words come out in a small whimper.
Megumi nods in understanding.  His thumbs swiping across her cheekbones, and softly under her eyes, trying to catch every last tear.
“I know,” He says softly, still nodding as his eyes wander her features, making sure there weren’t any lingering tears he’d missed.  “I know, and you won’t, ‘m not goin’ anywhere”
When their eyes lock again, she’s overwhelmed by an influx of emotion.  An eagerness to have him back by her side, a desire to keep him there next to her and never let him go, to never let anything take him away again.
“Listen, ‘gumi, I-” She tries to put words to the feeling, wanting to explain to him that having him here with her was sending her heart into orbit, wanting to tell him that knowing he was alive and he was okay was the first time she’d felt happiness in what seemed like weeks.
But the words are too difficult.  They’re too big and they get caught in her throat.  Rather than try to force them out, she acts on it instead.
Megumi anticipates the movement before she leans forward, catching the way her eyes rapidly shift between his and his mouth.  He reciprocates the look, curious to see if it meant what he’d thought it did, but just as quickly as his eyes land on her parted lips, she’s shooting forward and pressing them against his.
It’s a rushed kiss at first, full of anxiety and grief that hadn’t fully been relieved yet.  It’s  messy lips and clashing teeth, but once they both realize that whatever this feeling was, it was reciprocated, they relaxed.
Megumi sighs through his nose as he cups her cheeks and keeps her close, kissing her a little more softly, a little more deliberate in his need to display to her just how much he’d missed her.  In turn, (y/n’s) hands rest against his shoulders, squeezing just firm enough that he could feel her there, without being too aggressive.
Kissing her like his life depended on it made him feel like everything could turn out alright now that she was with him again.  Now that he was sure she was here, feeling the heat in her cheeks, and her soft breaths against his cheek, Megumi thinks his life had depended on this.
Up until about an hour ago he’d been mentally checked out since Shibuya.  Seeing her again brought him back a sense of purpose he hadn’t even really noticed he’d been losing.
Her hands are gentle when they card into his hair, combing softly through the dark locks that seemed a little longer since the last time she’d seen him.  He sighed at the sensation, unintentionally breaking their kiss.
The tips of his hair tickle her skin as his forehead drops to rest against hers.  (y/n) lets out a soft, breathless giggle before opening her eyes.
He’s smiling at her.  So full of delight that his blue eyes seem to gleam, and they’re crinkled at their corners.  She can’t help but smile back at him, her heart full and her face warm, even with his cool hands still holding it.
Megumi moves then, fingers catching a loose strand of hair.  He twirls it thoughtfully for a moment before tucking it behind her ear carefully, and laying his palm across her cheek again.  His long fingers splay out, wanting to touch as much of her as he possibly can, just to keep sure that she really is in front of him.
“No more runnin’ off, alright?” He murmurs, the tip of his nose grazing hers.
Her hands latch behind his neck, her focus on his lips as she thinks about kissing him again.  They linger there for a moment before shyly meeting his gaze again.
“Don’t let me go again”
He shakes his head, a silent vow to never do anything to push her away again, and even if he fails to keep her by his side, he swears he’d follow her, wherever she may go.
With his eyes falling shut he leans in again, lips grazing hers as he speaks.
“I won’t,” He murmurs, and then once more before he seals their lips again. “I won’t”
She could never part from him again.  She loved him too much to even conceive the idea.  What was next to come would be difficult, she may not have known Hakari very well personally, but she knew enough to be anxious about approaching him.  He was a bit of a loose cannon.  However she was sure that with Megumi- and Yuuji and Panda of course- they would come up with the right plan of action to gain his help.
With needy hands and a needier heart she clings to him now, just to be sure that she could never look back and regret not holding onto him tight enough.  He does the same, dropping his hands to circle his arms around her waist and pull her in impossibly close to him.
Whatever it took, he’d keep hold of her for the rest of their lives.  Nothing could ever take her from him again as long as she was right there in his arms.

Kusuo had taken a job at Café Mami because he was saving up for a new game that was coming out. There were many perks to this new job. First, he got a discount off of the coffee jelly he buys. Second, money.
But there were also downsides to this job. Firstly, it was in a popular location so he saw more people his age than adults such as couples, kids from school, and the notorious duo...
"Hey Kusuo!" Nendo beamed. "Hey Saiki!", Kaido said from right behind him.
Riki and Shun...
"How've you been buddy?"
"Please, just order and leave."
"Well that's no way to treat a loyal customer..." Shun pouted and he wanted nothing more than to kick them out.
Saiki sighed, wanting to keep his job, he handed them a menu, "Take this. I'll be over at your table in a few minutes to get your order."
"Aw, look at Saiki caring for his friends." Nendo swooned, the pink haired boy grimanced. "No, you're just hogging up the line."
The two had eventually left to find a table and Saiki was met with the next customer in line. It was Y/n L/n, another classmate of his. He had seen her a time or two conversing with dumb and dumber or Aiura Mikoto. She was also a regular here.
"Hey Ku! Can I get the usual?" He was typing her order, not even bothering to look at the girl infront of him. "Tapioca Soy Latte?" She hummed as confirmation.
"It'll be delivered to your table in just a few minutes."
Tumblr media
Kusuo had gotten a few more orders in before another employee took over the cash register, letting him to the rounds and delivering the orders to the tables. Nendo and Kaido were arguing over what to order so he didn't even bother stopping at their table.
The table next to theirs was Y/n's. He took the drink off the tray and placed it in front of her. "That'll be 370 yen." She nodded, rummaging through her purse.
A puzzled expression formed on her face as she continued to look through her belongings. "Fuck, where is that damn thing?" She silently cursed to herself, not finding any money.
Shit, not again. She face palmed and looked back up at him with a defeated expression "So...I maybe a bit short so...will washing dishes get me a discount?"
"How short?" He furrowed his brows, skeptical.
"370 yen short..." She cringed.
This is the second downside to the job Saiki had to deal with: customers who forget to bring money. And in Y/n's case, it was constant. Done with her shit, he took the drink off the table in a flash, "That's unfortunate."
Fuck, plan B! Y/n sprung into action, getting up and taking hold of his wrist before he could walk away.
Time froze for a moment.
Oh...well...this is new
Kusuo was absolutely bewildered by the sudden contact. Like a deer caught in headlights. "How..." She started, hands slowly interlacing with his which caused the table next to theirs to erupt in howls and whistles like fucking animals.
Fucking idiots. Kusuo was calling them everything under the sun in his mind. Even though he was throwing a scowl at the girl violating his personal space, the blood rushing to face was sending an entirely different message!
Cute. She thought, grinning to herself.
What the fuck is happening right now?
She continued, "How about a kiss, hm? What will that get me?" She slightly tilted her head, her voice sweet, and eyes looking up at him innocently. A dangerous combo.
"A restraining order."
She giggled. "That's no fun."
Kusuo wasn't sure if he should respect the dedication or be scared. The correct word would be surprised. More at himself because he wasn't stopping her.
Part of Y/n was secretly enjoying this. Sure, free coffee was great but breaking through his rough exterior was even better. So, she decided to have her fun.
She made use of her other hand, lightly brushing his pink hair behind his ear, "So, how 'bout it, Ku?" their faces inches apart now.
He knew he should step back, unlace their hands, and put distance between them but he was too distracted by how good she smelled, how pretty she actually was, and the warmth of her hands against his. It was...nice.
He would never admit it to her face, of course.
"Ku?"
He relented. "I'll give it to you free of charge if this ends right now." What? His pride was at stake here.
"Deal!" She squealed. Index finger and thumb placed under his chin now, she turned his face to the side, planting a kiss on his cheek as thanks. Whether Saiki's heart skipped a beat or not is none of your business. It did
She gingerly steals her drink back off the tray and goes back to her table. Her smile was bright. She chirply sipped her tapioca soy latte, "I'll leave you a good tip!"
Like hell you will.
