To his surprise, Rita didn’t resist him, or his touches. Bolstered by her forbearance and softness, Marcel pulled himself in closer to her warm frame. She turned to look at him, and he gazed back at her, searching in her eyes. In them, he detected nothing but fear and worry. Marcel couldn’t promise her things were going to work out. The cartel wasn’t going to give them a break, but when he opened his mouth to speak, the words he promised her he believed with everything he had: “‘Rita, te prometo, I am going to do whatever it takes to make sure nothing happens to you, or Fer’, or Gus. I am not going to let anything tear this family apart without first putting up one hell of a fight. ¿Entiendes?”

Rita knew for a fact she would not be able to fall asleep. Her mind was racing to the point that it was borderline loud. But Rita couldn't stay mad when he kissed her shoulder so lovingly, when he placed his hand on her hip. The anger was boiling down to just plain worry. "I don't think I can sleep." She answered truthfully as she looked over her shoulder. "I'm scared...." Rita whispered. Her hazel eyes never left his. Rita took him in, because the possibility that she would never see her husband again hung over her head.

Rita wasn't happy, he knew but for the first time since their conversation had began, Marcel was finally starting to feel reassured by his wife. That she wasn't just going to leave him on his own to pick up the pieces of this giant mess that their seemingly picture-perfect lives had just been catapulted into. Although Marcel always tried his best to not take her for granted, he was never more grateful for the person he had chosen to spend the rest of his life. It was the best decision he had ever made. And now, he just had to make sure that there would be the rest of his life to live with Rita. After changing his clothes from the day and brushing his teeth in the bathroom, he went to the bed, moving all the way towards hers, nuzzling his nose into the crook of her neck. "Sigues despierta?" he wondered, his lips lovingly brushing her shoulder while his hand came to rest upon her hip. // @rxnatx
