hello… long time no post. lots of transitional shit going on. i miss logging and reviewing horror (and refuse to abandon things) so i’m back, hopefully consistently and for good.
because they say it takes three weeks to form a habit, i’m going to post 21 days of horror.
no particular sub-genres or age ratings… i just want to dive back into it. definitely have some stuff i watched and didn’t post, some i’ll rewatch for this blog and some i won’t (terrifier, i’m looking at you).
i want to organize this blog a little more too, so i’m going to try to improve my tumblr literacy. i’m more of a discord/twitter person these days…
probably going to change the formatting of my posts, keep them straightforward but make them a little more eye-catching. hopefully you guys will like it.
okay, i talked enough. i hope everyone has been/is well. now, let’s get into it !

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (9/10)
this is. by FAR. my favorite movie of all time. i’ve seen it maybe five times now and every time i feel like i’ve had this epiphany; this life-changing viewing experience and there’s something so meaningful i still haven’t grasped. so, if you can’t tell, i fucking love this film and i want 10 more just like it now, please.
minus one star because 10 is a bit gratuitous for a film that doesn’t fully explain itself and requires, honestly, a bit of research to grasp the symbolism (that i still haven’t fully grasped. this is all to say i will be watching it a sixth time). the movie attempts to explain what’s happening but there’s just... too much suspense, it’s too unsettling, as you’re starting to get it your whole world gets flipped on it’s axis. i’ve never felt so enraptured and lost and somehow, found. god i’m getting poetic.
i could write novels about how this film touched me. watch it. research into it. who is paimon in mythology? what do the words you see throughout the film mean? listen to reborn by colin stetson and see how it makes you feel just on it’s own. this movie is so, so traumatizing yet every time i see it i wish i could just be part of it. chefs fucking kiss.

silence of the lambs
Tumblr media
desc.:  Jodie Foster stars as Clarice Starling, a top student at the FBI's training academy. Jack Crawford (Scott Glenn) wants Clarice to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for various acts of murder and cannibalism. Crawford believes that Lecter may have insight into a case and that Starling, as an attractive young woman, may be just the bait to draw him out.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/10) plus  ⭐⭐ if clarice is a lesbian cause she’s giving wlw vibes
For a classic, I was kind of underwhelmed????
Clarice was great. Amazing. One of the best female protags I have ever seen. There’s just something missing.... idk... it wasn’t captivating for me, and it seemed the whole focus of the movie was finding out who buffalo bill was. I DO NOT GIVE A FUCK ABOUT BUFFALO BILL. maybe this just wasn’t my genre of movie.... the gore was lacking and though they tried to be psychological, it’s almost like they tried too hard. Four stars because I do happen to find serial killers interesting and this was a decent delve into the topic.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/10)
just as good (and bad) as the last one, and even more pointless??? somehow??? like, the concept is the same, of course, and death’s an asshole in this one too, but ... i kind of started rooting for him at some point? the acting was WAY better, but like, god its so stupid
like. they sucked all the like, oxygen?? space to fill??? out of a mans body and he DIED, and i dont know if any of it even makes sense because h o w does a person die like that? CAN THEY EVEN? ITS JUST STUPID

final destination 3 (2006)
Tumblr media
desc: Six years after a group of high-school students first cheated death, another teen (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) has a premonition that she and her friends will be involved in a horrifying roller-coaster accident. When the vision proves true, the student and her fellow survivors must deal with the repercussions of cheating the Grim Reaper.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (6/10)
rev: sort of kind of as good as the first couple???? but not. AND THIS ISN’T EVEN BECAUSE THEY KILLED PEOPLE I LIKED, IT JUST ACTUALLY KIND OF SUCKED. the main female lead was slightly less god-like but still pretty okay, oh my GOD i loved the boy, but for the most part the acting was really dramatic which is kind of confusing me because i could’ve sworn these movies were supposed to be funny??? idk they introduced new characters but you didn’t care THAT much about them, which would be okay if you didn’t have to spend an hour & a half watching them die!! but u do and it’s a LOT and for what!!! six stars is starting to seem like more than it deserves now but i’m nice, and the concept is still alright so whatever it’s fine (i swear it’s 6-star worthy, what’s especially fun is to guess who is gonna die when and HOW, you’ll literally always fucking get it wrong its RIDICULOUS but makes it worth it!!)

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ -⭐ (MINUS ONE, yeah, i can do that, it’s an 8/10)
rev: if the movies are supposed to be like, more ironically funny than serious then i think i’m starting to get it!!! but im pissed off because they killed my FAVORITE FUCKING PERSON. i know she was only around for like, one movie,, but this is the second movie so i have a right to be mad about that. THE MOVIE IS GREAT OVERALL THOUGH genuinely funny, and the female lead is next to godly, pretty sure i said the same thing about the one from the first movie but it’s FACT. I hate to sound cheesy man but.... this is just a good fucking movie
am.. am i saying movie a lot or is it just me

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (8/10)
rev: i have some words for this one. visionary. genius. ahead of its time. ali larter was next to GODLY as clear, and even though it’s a 2000s film and the gore is mild (maybe you prefer that, i don’t know) the acting is so???? fucking perfect???? like where did the 2010s go WRONG? it was cheesy at first but it grew on me and i paused it maybe 10 times because the suspense was killing me.
watch this. please. it’s a right of passage at this point.

⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ( +  ⭐  ... brownie point)
rev: 7/10; i really liked it because the aesthetics of it were a m a z i n g but it’s kind of lacking??? in substance or something?? you don’t care about the characters tbh
but like bonus of ONE point because something about it is morbidly fascinating ESPECIALLY stories1 and 4

teeth (2008)
Tumblr media

(click keep reading for a review! no huge spoilers)
rev: 6/10! she’s supposed to be a teenager so the sexualization of her character is creepy but the overarching concept is pretty neat so.... i will allow it
if you’re a guy don’t watch this  i don’t even have a dick and this made my dick hurt... but like the character development in this is neat! kinda sad bc it’s like... her vagina has teeth lmao she’s an incel BUT the transition from purity pledge girl to badass my-vagina-is-a-weapon girl is worth the watch

rev: 7/10! it’s soooo fucked up and nerve-wracking it’s good!!
this is freaky in a very confusing very real way, there’s no demons (at least not physically), and there’s not much in the way of special effects either, but somewhere between the plot line and the violation of this dude’s human rights this movie chilled me to the c o r e.

the bunnyman massacre (2011)
Tumblr media
description:  A clan of cannibals, including a madman in a rabbit suit, terrorizes a group of friends in remote California.
free: http://www2.freefmovies.com/film/the-bunnyman-massacre-25000
(click keep reading for a review! no huge spoilers)
rev: 6/10; for a movie this dumb the amount of fear still coursing through me is unrivaled
ik you’re probably thinking ‘oh my god how tf could a bunny be scary’ but like. JUST THINK ABOUT IT. a grown man, in a bunny suit, with a chainsaw, nonchalantly killing u ... do u wanna go out that way? didn’t think so. but that’s besides the point, it could be better and more could’ve happened but the atmosphere this film creates is A1.

rev: 3/10; I’M SORRY IK IT’S A CLASSIC BUT IT’S S O BORING
It is like that movie u watch to fit in bc everyone’s seen it but u realize very quickly it’s Titanic if Titanic was a horror movie it is HELL to watch. the 3/10 comes from the fact pennywise made me laugh but also kinda spooked me. 10/10 for myself for even making it through the movie tho

american psycho (2000)
Tumblr media
description:  Patrick Bateman is young, white, beautiful, ivy leagued, and indistinguishable from his Wall Street colleagues. Shielded by conformity, privilege, and wealth, Bateman is also the ultimate serial killer, roaming freely and fearlessly. His murderous impulses are fueled by zealous materialism and piercing envy when he discovers someone else has acquired more than he has. After a colleague presents a business card superior in ink and paper to his, Bateman's blood thirst sharpens, and he steps up his homicidal activities to a frenzied pitch. Hatchets fly, butcher knives chop, chainsaws rip, and surgical instruments mutilate-how far will Bateman go? How much can he get away with?
tl;dr: perf white dude gets super jealous and pulls some murderer shit, how much can he get away with?
free: https://fmovies.film/movie/american-psycho-2000/
(no important spoilers but, warning!!)
rev:  6/10; ok ok in all honesty i cringed a few times
i have a love/hate relationship with this film. personally i was super confused but that’s probably just me. features sex in which patrick only looks at himself and a bomb-ass face routine walk-through. did you know ice packs helped with a puffy face? i didn’t. warning for slight gore and just an all around uncomfortable feeling.
