Why do you compare the relationship between Hook and Emma with Tangled?

Because there are a ridiculous number of parallels…

a lost princess who doesn’t know she’s a princess, an outlaw who is only looking out for his own interests until he finds said lost princess. 

Rapunzel’s one wish was to see the lights in the sky on her birthday, Emma’s one wish was to not be alone on her birthday. 

Flynn Rider is merely a protective moniker to keep the real Eugene from being hurt by anybody (the little orphan boy who wanted more). Sound familiar? (Also, Emma and Rapunzel call them by their real names, not by their monikers - unless Emma seems to be upset with Killian, for some reason. Then the ‘Hook’ comes out).

Killian Jones gives up his life-times long need for vengeance because of Emma Swan - Eugene Fitzherbert gives up his life long need for notoriety and riches because of Rapunzel. 

Lost princess finds the family she had lost, as well as True Love she didn’t realize she wanted.

Both Captain Swan and Eugene and Rapunzel realized, along the way, while spending time with each other and getting to know each other, that they were each other’s new dreams.

Eugene died to protect/save Rapunzel, when she was willing to sacrifice everything to keep him alive. Killian died to protect/save Emma, when she was willing to sacrifice everything to keep him alive. Both Eugene and Killian were rewarded with a second chance at life, thanks to the love of Rapunzel and Emma (respectively)

Physical similarities alone (pre-Rapunzel getting her hair cut off, of course). 

Like no, seriously… Look at the ridiculous physical similarities between Eugene and Killian:

(aside from the eye color difference, that’s pretty much Killian Jones in animated form)

Captain Swan and Rapunzel/Eugene have a balanced, respectful relationship between them. They are in equal footing, both saving each other in their own ways when it’s needed/warranted. 

Both Eugene and Killian fall ridiculously, hopelessly, devotedly in love with their ladies. Both also earn a place among their ladies’ families, despite their questionable pasts.

Eugene and Killian are both older and more ‘experienced’ than their respective lady counterparts, and yet always seem to defer to their lady counterparts and let said ladies take the lead.

I could really go on and on if I continued to dig but I think I’ve given you plenty to work with here…
