Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off.

“I will say it plainly - I loved someone and I failed at it. I like to call myself wound; but I answer to knife.”

Ummm my life is beautiful and I am loved and I can be skittish and restless and somber and lonely but I am never without hope when within me I carry what magnetizes and emphasizes peace and pleasure

His eyes were almost black, pooling with tears, but none had fallen. I gave him an almost imperceptible nod to go ahead. He brought his lips down to mine and kissed me, slow at first; then faster and faster, to a frenzied pace like one starved for weeks at a feast. He picked me up off the floor and carried me to his bed as I tried to burn the memory of it all into my brain. Ravenous, once was not enough - so, the rest of the night was spent satiating one another until we fell asleep exhausted, clinging; as if sleep might separate us once again and that was to be prevented at all cost. I awoke still in his arms, his hands intertwined with mine. The closest one could get to heaven in New York.

“There hasn’t been a day that’s gone by that I haven’t thought of you,” I said, my voice shaking; barely above a whisper. The silence swelled like a symphony, but I was too afraid to look at him. Too vulnerable without my armor of cloaking my feelings. I could hear him breathing though - and then a hand on my jaw, tilting my face up to his.
His eyes were almost black, pooling with tears, but none had fallen. I gave him an almost imperceptible nod to go ahead. He brought his lips down to mine and kissed me, slow at first; then faster and faster to a frenzied pace like one starved for weeks at a feast. Clawing, biting, savoring the taste. Insatiable, once was not enough - so, the rest of the night was spent filling one another until we fell asleep exhausted, clinging; as if sleep might separate us once again and that was to be prevented at all cost. When we woke ten hours later, I was still in his arms, both his hands intertwined with mine. I exhaled a sigh of relief, tracing circles on his skin, because I knew I wasn’t dreaming and that this was actually reality.

“You two were toxic,” Marianne said, looking at me with sadness and disappointment in her eyes.
“I don’t know. Most nights, we were all each other had.”
