for context what's happening is kind of like the equivalent of figure skaters (sport where aesthetics and artistry matters) attempting really difficult moves and executing them poorly because it's better to try for higher difficulty than better execution. it means routines look sloppier and also all the fucking same because everyone's trying the same kinds of moves and tricks to maximize difficulty points.
