I think Lovely Complex did a great job humanizing and displaying the emotions of a teenage girl. Even to the point of her hair always being differently styled and her clothes being diverse, just like a real teenager.

They humanize her to the point of letting her be unattractive and make ugly faces in front of her love interest. Letting her be silly. Not hyper-sexualizing her. Having her friends be supportive people. Letting her cry. Letting her yell and get mad.

She doesn’t always have to be perfect and beautiful and emotionless like so many romance (yes even the other romcom ones) animes portray teenagers.

LoveCom is just… so good for so many reasons, but Risa is the top one.
