Last week the nature gods worked doing trail building. We made a path for people in that community so they can go on a hike or bike ride. We had a hard tough time especially with the heat. We would constantly give up but then we would get back up and work harder. We had only 2 tools to work with which were the macleod and the loopers . The macleod was used to move the soil and rocks in the way. The loopers were used to cut all the roots. We got so far the whole week. #loverockcreek #RC3 #naturegods # montgomeryparks #conservationcorps

Last Friday, The Eagles got a chance to tour the Aquatic Resources Education Center in Anacostia Park. There, experts taught them about the species that live all around us in the Potomac/Anacostia (and therefore Chesapeake Bay) watersheds. Crew members were treated to a feeding of longnose gar, and got to see a diamondback terrapin (as well as many other turtle species) up close and personal. This was an amazing tour--- big shout out to the experts at AREC and the always-wonderful Anacostia Watershed Society for the great boat tour that capped off our day!

Week 3 Reflection

This week was full of hard work and teamwork. This week the group joyfully worked together while finishing 3 different projects, sometimes even finishing early because we were so dedicated and into the work. We went through a lot of challenges, like the heat , but that didn’t stop us. We faced the heat by being smart and taking breaks. We learned how to beat the heat
