Some people have a hard time explaining rock ‘n’ roll. I don’t think anyone can really explain rock 'n’ roll. Maybe Pete Townshend, but that’s okay. Rock 'n’ roll is a lifestyle and a way of thinking… and it’s not about money and popularity. Although, some money would be nice. But it’s a voice that says, “Here I am… and fuck you if you can’t understand me.” And one of these people is gonna save the world. And that means that rock 'n’ roll can save the world… all of us together. And the chicks are great. But what it all comes down to is that thing. The indefinable thing when people catch something in your music.

Tomorrow I am riding with Cycle for Survival to raise money to fund lifesaving rare cancer research at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where my own mother has been treated.
Together we can ensure tangible progress and give real hope to patients and their loved ones worldwide.
Here are two important facts you should know:
100% of every dollar you give will go directly to pioneering research within six months of the events.
Cycle for Survival has contributed to more than 100 clinical trials and research studies, and also to major research initiatives that will change the way cancer is diagnosed and treated.

I was not going to be a stupid girl singer. I was going to be way more than that.- Stevie Nicks

Stevie Nicks/Fleetwood Mac -Gold Dust Woman live 1/22/15
I filmed this last night at MSG in NYC, Stevie never disappoints, in this love piece she is literally taken over by the music. She is my spirit animal, an eternally romantic poet, a witch’s witch and my gypsy goddess.
"Rock on Gold Dust Woman..."

Today the music industry lost a legend. Rest in Peace Joe Cocker.
The fiery English soul-singer, songwriter, unrivaled musician, was also an unforgettable performer.  In his words: "Moving my hand around is subconscious with me. A lot of the time I'm more or less conducting the band, just keeping a feel. I don't know why I do it. It's just one of those things."
In celebration of his life, his music and his one-of-a-kind performance style, a little trip down memory lane with two legends:
In 1976 John Belushi famously imitated Cocker’s infamous stage movements on Saturday Night Live. When Cocker appeared on the show, Belushi did an incredibly accurate imitation- but then Cocker came out and sang with him...
NBC has taken down the clip, but I found it for you!
All humor aside, the world has lost a legend today, but thankfully his music will live on forever. RIP Joe Cocker, because each of our lives is a little more Beautiful.

A proud moment to work at Glamour:
Last night, Glamour Magazine honored the 2014 Women of the Year: Lupita Nyong’o, Sarah Burton, Chelsea Clinton, Laverne Cox, Mindy Kaling, Samantha Power, Robin Roberts, Natalia Vodianova, Sylvia Earle, and The Bravest Girls in the World. The event, at Carnegie Hall in New York City, included words from each honoree and celebrity presenters.
The inspiring event left us all with many words of wisdom, first I share my red carpetphotos (I took these) and then I will follow up with my favorite quotes from the evening...

Video II. Stevie Nicks Live 11/1/14
Me filming, clearly...
Stevie is doing her intro to "Gypsy" but really she is giving hard won/learned/earned life lessons about achieving your goals. Straight from magic Stevie's mouth:
"I'm not kidding! I'm seeing it coming, something. I didn't know if its was money or a man or some kind of a crazy different job or something, but I knew something really big was coming. And as I took that all in, I realized later  down the line that what I saw was this-- it was Fleetwood Mac. And I knew-- and this was only like 1969, so this was like years before 1975...
So, the idea of the whole story is to tell you that:
IF you have a dream, you CAN have that dream.
You have to just believe in it.
You have to really work for it.
You have to be determined.
You have to not let anyone stand in your way.
And if you want something bad enough, you are going to get it.
All you have to do is never ever give up.
Never take your eye off the prize."
-Stevie Nicks
