Stranger Tales Part 26

Read the rest on AO3
I ended up combining the top two results because they were fairly close and worked well together. Thanks for following this silly little story 🤍
༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒
After Eddie finished his ice cream and walked with the others to the front, he froze and looked back at the food court. He could just barely see Steve with his head on crossed arms by the register. Was he pouting?
He felt a little bad at possibly hurting Steve, but he shook it off and left with the others.
༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒
Not getting Eddie's number left Steve feeling far heavier than he thought it should have. He caught a glimpse of Eddie's group leaving and he fully deflated, knowing that he blew it.
For the rest of his shift, he moved about as if he were a zombie, just going through the procedures without a thought. Robin tried to be supportive, but it fell on deaf ears.
His ego had never been lower. He couldn't even succeed at flirting with a guy. He'd officially lost his game entirely.
༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒
When Steve put the keys in his car door, he froze at seeing something in the driver's seat. It was a folded piece of paper that must have been slipped through the window he usually kept cracked for airflow.
He opened the door and picked it up as he sat down. When he unfolded it, he saw that it was a torn out notebook page with a list of very random and confusing questions.
"How many rings of power are in Lord of the Rings? How many strings does an electric guitar have? What's the armor class of a mimic?" Steve squinted in confusion. "The what of what?" He chalked it up to some joke and tossed the paper in the passenger seat with a sigh as he made his way home.
He almost left the paper behind when he got home, but something about it nagged at him, so he took it with him to his room. He looked over the questions after he got changed and almost none of them made sense to him. The Dark Crystal sounded familiar, but he wasn't sure what a gelfling was.
He'd unfortunately been around Dustin and the others enough to know that a lot of these were nerd terms. He was tempted to ask them, but he'd likely never hear the end of it, and with Dustin still in his stupid summer camp, he'd have to rely on the others.
He sighed and crumpled the paper up, tossing it into the corner of his room. Why did he care? It was probably just some stupid joke, anyway. He shouldn't pay it any mind.
༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒
That note stayed crumpled up in the corner of Steve's room for a few days. He wanted to say it was forgotten about, but he almost picked it up multiple times, but left it where it laid. Even picking it up and putting it back when he vacuumed his room.
It wasn't until he overheard Mike, Lucas, and Will talking while he got them ice cream that his interest was piqued again.
"Dude, my arrow blasted through that dire wolf's armor class," Lucas bragged.
Steve froze and chewed on his lip. "You wouldn't happen to know the armor class of a... what was it... mimic?" he asked awkwardly, handing Will his cone as Mike paid for them.
"Why?" Mike asked accusatorily.
"Uh, no reason. Forget it," Steve muttered.
As Mike and Lucas walked off, Will hung back with a look of deep thought. "Seven," he stated softly, with a sweet smile at Steve.
"Thanks, you're one of the good ones," Steve laughed.
"Will, you coming?" Mike called.
"Yeah!" Will perked and rushed up to meet them.
An excitement built in Steve at getting his first answer. He wrote a '7' on the back of his thumb in pen so he wouldn't forget when he got home.
༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒
Steve rushed up to his room and smoothed the crumpled paper out on his desk. He'd looked at the seven on his thumb so many times throughout the day that he didn't need the reminder anymore and wrote it in after the corresponding question.
He beamed at himself, feeling a little proud, and he read over the other questions. Even if it was a joke, a scavenger hunt could be fun.
༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒
To his surprise, Steve found himself at the library that weekend. He checked out the books referenced in the questions and stopped by Family Video on the way home to pick up a few movies.
༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒
Eddie had been struggling with trying to focus at home, so he decided to hit the food court to work on his next campaign. The noisy bustling around him helped him focus for some strange reason. As he passed Scoops Ahoy, something caught his attention, and he backpedaled to see Steve on his break in one of the booths with his nose in 'Dragons of Autumn Twilight'.
The wide grin was unavoidable. Eddie wasn't even able to bite it away as he made his way to his preferred table. He chose it so he could keep half an eye on Steve in his little sailor uniform. Honestly, he felt a little silly for making that list and even more ridiculous for actually giving it to him, but when he saw the paper that he'd torn from the same notebook he was opening spread out in front of Steve, he felt a little bubble of hope.
He wasn't entirely sure what he was hopeful of, but never in his life did he expect to see Steve Harrington with his face buried in a fantasy novel. To top it off, it looked like he was actually invested in it.
When Steve lowered the book, Eddie saw that Steve was chewing on a pen. Not only was it adorable, but Eddie bit his tight smile when he saw Steve jot something down on the paper.
He had no idea what would come of Steve answering all of those, or if he'd even make the connection of what it all meant, but just the fact that Steve was putting effort towards it made Eddie beyond happy.
༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒
It took him almost the full week, but come Friday, Steve had every question answered. Even though the books interested him more than he'd anticipated, he generally stopped reading after he got his answer. He planned to pick them up again sometime, but for now, they'd served their purpose.
Steve placed the paper on the table in the back room of Scoops Ahoy and stared at it proudly, The partially read 'Lord of the Rings' book sat on the table beside him as he wrote a '20' after the last remaining question. "Done," he sighed happily to the empty room. "Now what?"
He furrowed his brows, looking over the paper. He'd answered everything, but he still had no idea what it was for. Who had given it to him? Why did they give it to him? Was it meant for someone else? He'd hoped that once he'd answered all of the questions, he'd get some answers of his own, but all he had was a paper filled with nerd trivia.

Steve beamed a little brighter than he'd intended at Eddie's comment, feeling his cheeks warm a bit.
That smile had Eddie entirely enchanted. It felt as if the universe herself had put a spotlight on Steve. He almost forgot he was holding his ice cream cone again and opted to put it in the tray with the others before he ended up dropping it for real.
With a slightly nervous lick of his lips, Steve cocked his grin unevenly. "If it's really not, not working..." He swallowed. "Do you think I could... possibly... get a number?"
Eddie was taken aback. Even if Steve had been messing around with flirting with a guy on a dare, making an actual move was unexpected. "Twenty-three," he said before he could reel in his shit-heel.
"What?" Steve squinted.
"You asked for a number, right? So, I gave you one." He shrugged. He'd already stuck his foot in his mouth. It'd be weirder if he tried to back down.
Steve scoffed a laugh and shook his head. "No. Your number," he clarified.
Eddie chewed on his lip. "That depends," he stated smoothly, meeting Steve's eyes with a little more confidence. "Do you plan on actually using it, or is it just proof that you managed your end of the deal?"
Strangely, Steve found it a little hard to look into Eddie's focused eyes. "I'm a little undecided, honestly," he answered with an awkward huff.
The slightly bashful expression on Steve's face made Eddie's heart thud. It almost felt like Steve was seriously considering it. "Can I think about it?" He picked up the tray of cones. "I need to get these to the guys before they melt."
"Yeah, no, of course," Steve replied quickly, and gestured for him to leave.
Eddie nodded and turned away.
A concern gripped Steve's chest, and he spoke before he could think it through. "Munson."
Eddie turned back around to look at him.
"You—you're not going to tell anyone about this, are you?"
Deep pity and sympathy washed over Eddie, and he let out a small sigh. "No, Steve. I wouldn't dream of it," he stated sincerely, and gave him another nod before leaving.
Eddie knew it was too good to be true. There was no way that Steve would ever be okay with dating a guy. He'd almost considered giving him his number too, but maybe he should just let things slide.
He met the guys out front of the comic shop, and everyone took their respective cone.
"What took you so long?" Jeff asked.
"Harrington was talking my ear off," Eddie chuckled.
༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒
Steve spent the rest of Robin's break waiting to see if Eddie would come back, and when he didn't, he felt his heart sink.
"How'd it go?" Robin asked, hanging up her bag in the back.
"Well, I did it," Steve sighed.
"By the weight of that sigh, I'm assuming it didn't go well."
"I think it went great, actually," Steve chuckled weakly.
"Then why the long face?"
"I think I blew it at the end. I was fucking stupid and—"
"No surprise there," Robin interjected with a pursed grin.
Steve looked at her flatly, unamused. "As I was saying," he grumbled. "I asked him not to tell anyone that I was flirting with him as he left," he admitted.
"Yeah. Okay. That was stupid of you."
Steve gave her a bitchy glare and sneer. "No shit."
"But hey, at least you did it," she stated congratulatorily. "I'd call that a win all on its own."
"When I asked for his number, he said he needed to think about it."
"Was that before or after you dropped the insecurity bomb on him?"
Steve groaned. "Before."
"Ouch." Robin cringed.
He sighed and rested his forehead against the cool freezer door.
"Gonna try to concuss yourself again?"
"Maybe if I hit it hard enough, I can stop being so fucking stupid."
"Not likely, but it'd be funny to watch, so don't let me stop you."
He glared at her and flipped her off.

Give Me Fuel, Give Me Fire Chapter 104 is based off of this fantastic fanart by request of @annanevermore
Tumblr media
This is sort of an Art AU idea for a much older and not so wiser Steddie story I’d been thinking of. After all the shit that went down Steve left town and joined his dad at his new firm. Leaving behind the Steve of old, the kind babysitter. He’s a bit harsher and more of a yuppie type. But, deep down he’s still the Steve who wants to escape his dad’s shadow and get back to being the laid back dork we all love. It’s when he returns home to take charge of the Hawkins branch of the Harrington company that his car breaks down and he meets Eddie again. Eddie’s turned his life around and was taken under the wing of the local mechanic. By day he mends cars, and by night he takes up guitar at the local taverns. It’s a quiet life (well apart from calls from Dustin who is a University now) and he likes it. Till he runs into Steve again, and finds the trauma of his past due to the Upside down has created a much harsher man than the exasperated kid wrangler who left town.
Or to make it shorter, broken cars lead to romance, angst and greasy hands everywhere ;P

"Seriously," Robin groaned. "Don't make me take matters into my own hands."
"Then don't." Steve shrugged.
"If you don't get out there right now, I will."
"Not moving," Steve stated adamantly, shaking his head.
Robin heaved a sigh. "God damnit, Steve." She swatted the hat off of his head as she grabbed her bag from the coat hook.
Steve flinched and caught it before it hit the ground. He shouted with a wince when she grabbed a handful of his dense hair, pulling him to his feet. "What the hell?! Not the hair," he growled as she dragged him to the front and shoved him behind the counter.
"Go do your thing. I'm going on break," she stated, dusting off her hands and slinging her bag over her shoulder.
"Wha—Rob—I—" Steve stood there with his mouth open, watching her walk away without another word.
Eddie awkwardly fiddled with the small paper in his hands that had everyone's order as he watched the exchange. He almost felt like he shouldn't be there.
Steve let out a squeak of disbelief as he slowly turned and smiled uncertainly at Eddie. There was no way he could fucking do this.
"Everything cool?" Eddie asked in an attempt to break the awkward silence.
"Yeah," Steve forced and glanced away. "Sorry you had to see that," he muttered and walked up to the register.
"What was that about anyway?" he chuckled.
Steve froze, unsure how to answer.
"If it's not my business, forget I even asked," Eddie reassured.
The temptation to take Eddie's out was strong, but he had agreed to give it a try. Steve shook his head and took a deep breath. "It's just a stupid dare is all." He forced a smile, but was unable to meet Eddie's eyes for more than a few seconds.
"Well, now you have my interest, Harrington."
Steve let out an awkward huff and held out his hand to take the paper from Eddie. He should at least get the order going. When Eddie offered it to him, Steve's hand trembled slightly as he pulled one of his moves—touching a little too much skin as he took something from their hand. Eddie's hands were cool to the touch and the rings the decorated his fingers felt nice.
His eyes shifted up to meet Eddie's face, and he saw the reaction he'd always wanted from the women he'd tried it on. A hint of color on their cheeks and a shifty gaze. It gave Steve a little more confidence.
"It's nothing major," Steve continued, looking over the order. There were only three on there, but he knew Eddie's usual order, so he didn't bother asking him before he got to work. "But when we were at the show you were in, I may have stated that I thought Nat Twenty was hot."
Eddie chuckled. "I never would have guessed when you tried hitting on me." He kept his tone confident, but his heart was racing.
"Yeah," Steve scoffed. "Sorry about that."
"Nah." Eddie shook his head. "Glad to know I make a convincing enough woman for a straight guy to hit on me," he laughed. "Was that the dare? Hitting on a drag queen?"
"No." Steve took a slow breath, focusing on what he was doing. It helped to have a reason to not look at Eddie directly. "The dare came today after I failed at flirting with a record number of girls."
"You, Steve 'fucking' Harrington, have been struggling to get a date?" Eddie quirked his brow in shock.
"Like you wouldn't believe," Steve sighed.
"You're right, I don't believe it," Eddie laughed. "The halls were filled with whispers of women wanting to throw themselves at your feet. There's no way you can't get a girlfriend."
Steve snorted. "Tell that to my ego right now," he muttered, setting the third cone in a holding tray.
"Then what the hell kind of dare did Buckley give you?"
Steve swallowed, trying to calm his heart. He urged a smile to his face as he finished Eddie's cone and handed it to him.
Eddie was taken aback as he took it. "But I never gave you my order." He squinted at the cone, then up to Steve in confusion.
Steve pushed the carry tray with the other three cones towards Eddie as he leaned on the counter and met his eyes. "Let's just say you make an impression," he stated with a flirty edge.
Feeling the cone slip a little in his hand made Eddie quickly grip it and swallow. "I—" His words caught in his throat, but he cleared it and tentatively met Steve's confident gaze. "I've been told I'm hard to forget," he forced a stunted laugh. "But I think they usually mean it as an insult."
There was a clear blush on Eddie's cheeks and Steve found it kind of cute. It always bothered him that the heavy makeup women wore tended to cover that up. "I wasn't insulting you," he clarified.
Eddie nodded and placed the cash Gareth gave him on the counter. "I didn't think you were." He shied away from the smile Steve flashed him and watched him count the money and add it to the till. "So, what was the dare?"
Steve held the change out and let his fingers linger on Eddie's palm for a moment. They were calloused. Probably from playing guitar. "To switch things up and try hitting on a guy instead," he answered honestly.
Eddie's hand twitched at Steve's touch, and he quickly pocketed the change.
"Would you say it's working?" Steve asked, trying to catch Eddie's eyes with his own.
A crude scoff came from Eddie. It was an ugly sound that Eddie had no intention of making.
"I don't know if that was a yes or no," Steve chuckled.
Neither did Eddie, but he shook his head and looked at Steve. "It's not... not working," he chuckled awkwardly.

As much as Eddie tried to avoid it, the rest of the Corroded Coffin members wanted to hit up the mall. After what happened at the Hideout, and that stupid fucking fantasy, the last thing he wanted was to see Steve's perfect fucking face.
Every time they went to the mall together, it was the same. They hit up a couple music shops, a bookstore that also sold games, and then the food court. Gareth was usually the one roped into paying, as he was the only one with well-off parents and a summer job.
Typically, Eddie would meet them there ahead of time so he could get an eyeful of Steve in those shorts, but today, Eddie hoped with all his might that it was Steve's day off or something as they approached the food court.
To his dismay, the others ditched him shortly before they actually reached the food court. They wanted to check out a shop that had just opened, but only had a little time left before they had to leave. They rolled for it, and Eddie got the lowest number, leaving him in charge of getting the ice cream while they went to look at a new comic shop.
Eddie stood just outside the entrance of Scoops Ahoy. When he saw Steve go to the back room, he swallowed before entering, hoping that he could just go through Buckley.
༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒༒
Steve's nerves were on high alert as he watched every person that walked into the parlor. He'd never really noticed, but not many guys his own age came to get ice cream. It was mainly girls, children, and parents.
It ended up being a few hours before a guy his own age walked in and he nearly dropped the tub of mint chip ice cream he was carrying when he walked out of the back to see Eddie of all fucking people walking into the shop.
He all but threw the ice cream into the display freezer and rushed to the back, his heart racing. He knew he'd said that he'd try to hit on the next guy that walked in, but he'd expected it to be someone he'd never met or barely knew. Not the person who caused all of this to begin with.
"Cold feet?" Robin teased, peeking in the swinging door.
"I can't," Steve stated, shaking his head. "Not him. Anyone but him."
Robin quirked her brow. "I'll be right with you," she called to Eddie as she joined Steve in the back. "I thought he was the one you were actually interested in?"
"That's the problem," he hissed. "How can I... What if... No... I can't. I just can't. I take it back. I can't do this whole liking guys thing."
Robin laughed. "You can't just stop being bisexual."
"Watch me," he muttered.
"No, I'm not, because that's stupid. Now go out there and hit on your first guy. If it's Eddie, he might even be interested back."
"Why does that make it so much worse?"
"It doesn't. Now go," she urged, pointing toward the door.
"Mm-mm," Steve grunted, shaking his head. "I'm not moving until he's gone."
"Oh my god, you're being a toddler," she groaned. "I'll drag you out there myself if I have to."
"Try it," Steve taunted. "I'm not budging."
Robin's face fell, and she rubbed her temples in frustration.

The next work day, Robin stood in the doorway to the back room watching Steve hit his head off the freezer door. She felt like she should have interrupted him a few hits sooner than she did, but part of her was hoping he'd knock some sense into himself first.
"Okay, what's going on?" she groaned.
"I think I'm like Bowie," he grumbled, resting his head against the metal door.
Robin squinted in confusion until their conversation from the show came to mind. She laughed. "And that's bad enough for you to want a concussion?" She crossed her arms with a smirk.
"I just don't get it," Steve mumbled to the door. "How can I like guys?"
"That's a question for you to answer, not me, but sometimes you're attracted to people you might not realize were even an option."
He lightly thumped his head on the door again.
Robin heaved a sigh and pursed her lips. "Think of it this way. You just doubled your chances of getting a mark on the 'you rule' side of the board."
Steve huffed a laugh. "I don't know if I actually want to pursue this new side."
"Up to you, man," she shrugged. "But we need to open soon and the new tub of vanilla is in the freezer you're trying to concuss yourself on."
Steve laughed in defeat and stepped away from the freezer.
As the day went on, he doubled his efforts on women, desperate to not think about the fact that he could be into men.
"I think you're scaring them away more than reeling them in," Robin teased as a group of girls scurried away without buying anything.
Steve groaned and collapsed to the ground behind the counter. Even he could see how strong he was coming on.
"Bugging you that bad, huh?"
Steve groaned again and hit the back of his head off the wall.
"I really don't think you're going to thump your head hard enough to turn you straight."
Steve let out a weak laugh and turned his eyes up to her. "What do you think I should do?"
Robin crossed her arms and sucked on her lip in thought. "It's not really my place, but I guess if I had to suggest anything, it'd be to lean into it. See what this new side has to offer. It might not be as scary as you think."
Steve heaved a sigh and slumped his shoulders. "Maybe you're right."
"I usually am."
The quip got another small laugh from Steve.
When she saw him trying to get up, she offered her hand and smiled when he took the help to get to his feet.
Steve sighed and smiled almost shyly at her. "Then the next guy to walk in, I'll turn my charms on for."
"Here comes one now," she said with a smirk.
Steve braced himself and turned to face Ted Wheeler holding Holly. "Maybe the next one," he cringed at Robin.
She laughed and made the order Steve took.

As a demon, sleep wasn't an option for Eddie, but he quite enjoyed watching Steve. He was also curious about what dream was responsible for his soft sounds and the incredible erection tenting his blanket.
Eddie laid next to him with his eyes closed, gently toying with his chest hair.
Within the dream, he found Steve in a void with a formless person riding him. Eddie grinned, giving the person a form, his human form, to be exact.
Steve softly huffed and clenched his fists.
Carefully removing the blanket, Eddie positioned himself over Steve. With extra care not to wake him, Eddie precisely matched the motions of the dream version and rode him. His eyes rolled up with pleasure as he took his full girth with ease. Another lovely little perk to not being human.
In the dream, Eddie formed his thin, gray, whip-like tail to caress Steve's body, mirroring the actions in reality and slowly working his way down Steve's body until he could slip the tail inside his ass.
Steve grunted and scrunched his face at the intrusion, but remained asleep.
Keeping his movements slow and making sure everything matched the dream, Eddie formed another tail and pushed that inside him as well.
One by one, Eddie gradually increased the number of tails stuffed inside Steve until he'd lost count. There were so many that his abdomen was bulging and shifting as they wriggled within him.
Steve was panting and whimpering, but with a little help from Eddie's magic, he stayed asleep.
The cock inside Eddie was flexing wildly, and he knew Steve was only one good thrust of his hips from getting off. He remained still while on top of him and made sure the tails didn't directly stimulate his prostate. He wanted this to last until Steve woke up on his own, despite his magic.
That moment wasn't too far off. Steve's whole body tensed as soon as he was conscious enough to realize what was happening. He moaned loudly and grabbed Eddie's thighs, arching his body at the deep, full pleasure he'd suddenly been faced with.
Eddie grinned and cranked everything up to eleven, riding him and swirling the tails to firmly massage against his prostate.
Steve screamed and twisted his hands in his blankets as an intense orgasm ripped through him.
"What the fuck!?" Steve shouted, collapsing onto the bed.
"Morning," Eddie chuckled, whipping the tails out and disappearing all but one.
Steve gasped, cringing at the strange, empty sensation that followed.
Eddie bit his lip and swirled his hips, loving the way Steve's cock felt while softening a little inside him.
The sensitivity of just getting off made Steve grab onto Eddie's chain-draped hips and glare up at him. He glanced at the clock by his bed, then back to Eddie. "It's 2 AM," he groaned. "I have work."
Eddie beamed with both pride and mischief.
