I came across this pretty soon after starting my record collection in a local record store. I asked the guy working to give me something I might like. He asked me what I was into and at the time it was mostly math rock, noise rock, and hardcore punk. He handed me this album, and it being only five dollars I decided to buy it. When I played it the first time, I had no idea what to expect and barely got past the first couple tracks. It sat on my shelf for about two years, and I forgot about it. Earlier this year I was looking into Zach Hill and some of his non-Hella and Death Grips releases and found his collaboration with Mick Barr. I was into it and started searching for more Mick Barr stuff. I was surprised when I saw this album as one of the first things he ever put out, so I gave it another listen. It's a lot more enjoyable to me now, after I've gone way farther down the weird music rabbit hole, as the most extreme stuff I listened to back when I first got it was The Jesus Lizard and Big Black.

Thanks again to Dead End Hip Hop for putting Sa-Roc on my radar. Currently going through some of her releases and damn if she isn’t a talented MC.

Aa - “Promsac”
Aa is a New York electronic group featuring multiple drummers and highly processed and often unintelligible vocals. Think of a more electronic-oriented, more euphoric HEALTH in some ways. I caught these guys live a few months ago at Three-Links in Dallas during Spillover 2016. One of my favorite shows of the weekend, so I picked up a copy of their VoyAager album on vinyl. Quality stuff.

Flanch - “Graace”
Flanch is an experimental hip-hop project that I found while browsing Bandcamp a couple weeks back. clipping. has them featured on their Spotify playlist of things they like as well, which is a better endorsement than I could give.

Brother Ali - “Mourning in America”
Gotta give a shoutout to Dead End Hip Hop for introducing me to Brother Ali. In their AskDEHH video about who they would replace in the mainstream, his name came up a couple times. Looked him up and found some very nice, smooth yet very politically charged rap. Brother Ali seems like a genuinely great guy who believes in what he preaches.

Let’s get this out of the way:
I like Death Grips. A lot. They’re hundreds of plays higher than anyone else according to last.fm, a number that is currently going up. Niggaz On The Moon is my favorite release, while Interview 2016 is my least favorite. I wish they’d do another album that uses samples as prominently as Ex-Military again, but I get that they are probably too big to get away with that now. I’ll try not to make every other post about Death Grips.

Crater - “Crater Head”
This was on my discover weekly playlist last week and I have been listening to this album on repeat the last two days. Moody electronic music with detached female vocals, one of my favorite things in the world.

Introducing Yet Another Music Blog
Hey. I have some opinions about music. I’ll be posting them here. No specific genre or scene, just whatever interests me. Check out my Spotify playlist in the sidebar for a bit of stuff I like.
