Picolla Tushy Presents The Bluestockings will be taking a Hiatus from Bar Redux and return in 2018...This show will feature some of their favorite routines from the past 2.5 years of their monthly shows at Bar Redux. The BLUESTOCKINGS are dreamers, creators, and artists inspired by literature, art, and music. We are a New Orleans based burlesque and naked theatre troupe. Known for shows such as I Ain't Afraid of No Boob and Booze Broads and Bukowski, the Bluestockings use elements of theatre, literature and pop culture to create a burlesque experience like no other. Our mission is to build community. The Bluestockings, created in early 2013, started as a troupe of about 8 core members. We have grown to close to 20 members and continue to grow. We have shared the stage with many newcomers - either new to the art form, new to the city, or just passing through New Orleans. Our monthly shows at Bar Redux are often hosted by local poets or comedians. Our Sexy Storytelling Events invite members of the community from all walks of life to share their stories with us.Our full scale productions use parody type plays to speak out about social issues. In 2016, The Bluestockings started a book club opened to the public to bring people together and promote reading. We believe everyone has a voice and we'd like to share those voices with you through the art of the tease. We are committed to providing an environment of art, beauty, and love. Bar Redux Presents River Glen   February 4th @9pm to 11pm  $5 cover “His words and vocals are reminiscent of Brett Dennen, from the idealism and social commentary to the balladeer crooning and wide tonal range.” -Julien’s Journal River was born into music along the banks of the Mighty Mississippi in Dubuque, Iowa. His songwriting blends elements of Folk, Rootsy-Rock, Americana, Pop, Hip-Hop, Blues, and more… Fans often compare River’s music to artists like Jackson Browne and John Prine. River’s performances are extremely honest, heartfelt, humble, inclusive, and playful to the point that not even he knows where the music might go. Join us for intimate evening of original music
