“Riwa and Her Sisters: A Family’s Journey of Resilience Amid Displacement and Hardship in Gaza”
My name is Rewaa, and I live with my three sisters and my father, who has a heart condition, in a tent by the sea in southern Gaza. This is our eighth displacement from northern Gaza, leaving behind our homes, our lives, and our hope for stability. Despite all this pain, I’ve taken full responsibility for my family, supporting my father and sisters, and facing endless challenges.
I also have a married sister with three children, whose husband has been missing in northern Gaza since the start of the war. This has added to the burden I carry, as I try to be a source of support for her and our entire family. Before our displacement, I worked in education and had my own teaching center in northern Gaza. But now, with no source of income, I bear the weight of a whole family on my shoulders.
We live under harsh conditions, yet we try to stay strong and be each other’s source of resilience. All we ask for is the world’s support in these difficult times and prayers for relief from this suffering. Gaza deserves a better life, and we all deserve to live with dignity and safety.
