My lips curl in a smile, seeing the happiness on his face. “You do know, I’m going to miss you like crazy….so I hope you plan on making love to me before you leave…” I raise my eyebrow at him with a mischievous look in my eyes, and a slight smirk on my face. “Weeks is a long time to go without feeling my husband next to me…”

“I hope you are right that Uhtred will listen to me. I don’t wish to anger him. I just hope I can help calm some of the turmoil he’s feeling, and that he’ll feel comfortable with me being there.” I muse as I pick up Myrkr from the floor and let him rest in my lap. I watch Finan as he starts preparing our supper. 

The growling of my stomach starts getting louder, as I softly chuckle. “Don’t worry, little one, we haven’t forgotten about you…” I softly rub my stomach as I feel the flutters getting stronger. I’m sure it won’t be too much longer before I start feeling actual kicks.

“Hello darling,” Finan drawls to her as he nears her, his eyes twinkling. “… it’s been a rough go around with the King and such. Uhtred is still… strugglin’, understandably.”

A soft smile lights up my face when I see Finan. I am just returning home from visiting the horses in the corral on the edge of the village. I’ve had my eye on one of them and I have been taking him treats, hoping to earn his trust.

When Finan mentions the meeting with the King I frown a little. I haven’t been able to get a good read on the King. He’s been nice to me a few times, but I have also seen he is quick to anger. I just don’t trust him, and maybe it’s because of his position of power. “I’m sorry to hear the meeting didn’t go well, but I guess it doesn’t surprise me with how the King is.”

It saddens me to hear that Uhtred is still struggling, but I can understand the pain he’s going through. “It’s going to take time for Uhtred to heal….he’ll get there, eventually. I saw that he was out and about today, hopefully that’s a good sign.”

As I look at Finan in surprise at his request, I ponder for a moment before I answer him. I will miss Finan terribly while he is away, but I understand his need to go on this journey. The thought of spending weeks without him fills me with sadness, but I know I have to be strong, for him and the little one.

“You…you want me to stay at the Great Hall with Uhtred? Keep him from leaving? I’m not sure he’ll listen to me…” I remember when he didn’t want me to go with the party rescuing Finan.

I glance over at Myrkr playing with a piece of yarn. “Do you think he’ll mind if I bring Myrkr? I don’t want to leave him here by himself for that long.”

I squeeze Finan’s hand as I give him a reassuring smile. “I can do this for you…”

I place a gentle kiss on the top of Finan’s head as he sits at the table. “Okay, my love…” I softly murmur, as I lightly rub his shoulders. I feel worry flare out in my chest for Finan. I can see the toll the stress is taking on him, and I just wish I knew how to help him. What I can do to help ease this burden on his shoulders.

Taking a seat in the other chair, I take Finan’s hand in mine, just trying to offer some comfort and support. I want to ask him how I can help him, but instead, I sit there quietly until he’s ready. I don’t want to push him and add to his stress.

I tighten my hold around Finan’s waist, as I listen to the soothing sounds of his heartbeat. “I will, mo fhear céile milis. I know things have been stressful, with Uhtred…and the concerns with everything Gisela revealed. I’m here for you for what ever you need. I’ll always be by your side.” I look up at Finan’s face, with a reassuring smile.

“Do you want to go home and relax for a little while? Or do you still have duties to attend to? I was just heading there myself after spending time with the horses. I was starting to get a little hungry.” I softly ask. My stomach lets out a little grumble causing me to softly giggle. “This little one is getting so demanding…”

I softly chuckle when Finan mentions Uhtred’s temper with the King. “I can imagine the King brings that out in him. I’m just glad I have never seen Uhtred’s temper.”

“I’m doing well.” I smile up at him. “I think I’m going to have to start wearing gowns now. My other clothes are getting a little too snug.” I say as I gesture to the gown I’m now wearing. A pretty dark blue to match my eyes. “It’s going to take some getting used to, it’s been so long since I’ve worn a gown, with the exception of our wedding. Not sure if I like how restrictive it is with my movements, but at least it’s comfortable with my growing belly.”

Wrapping my arms around Finan’s waist, I rest my head on his chest. “Is there anything I can do to help with the tension you are feeling?” I softly ask.
