You’ve been looking at a lot of weird websites and following all sorts of witchy folks on social media. You’ve got the stack of books on meditation and journeying. You know you should have a spiritual practice, but you’ve gathered so much information, it’s hard to know what to prioritize.
But then, here I am offering even more information.
Animistic practice? Ooh, I’ve heard of animism. Maybe I need to be practicing that, too!
I love your insatiable desire for deeper waters, free spirit. I love your endless quest for rare knowing. I love it.
Here’s the good news: animism isn’t just another cool thing to add to your ever-growing want-to-do list. Animistic spiritwork offers a new way of relating to your want-to-do list, of communicating with your desires, and bringing your spiritual journey to life!
Through animistic spiritwork, we can ask our spiritual practice what it wants. More importantly: we can ask it why. What are we practicing for? Is our spirituality just a hobby, or do all of these pieces we’ve been gathering add up to something more?

Spirits Be Like
Spirit: I have many names, some of which only the wind can speak.
Spirit: Most refer to me as a name that is foreign to your tongue and would be hilarious to watch you even attempt to mutter.
Spirit: You can call me George.

So excited to listen and re-live this wild conversation with my new witch-friend Sarah Chappell over at Heal Yourself, in which we talk about spiritwork, the winding road to spiritual business, how to encounter money as a spirit, pokemon, rubbing goats together, ancestral bootstraps, and the smell of a dollar bill. 😂

Sometimes you find someone's work and just spiral into a fangirldom so deep you're afraid you'll never escape! That's how I felt when I discovered @renspiritwork in an online marketing group. I was thrilled to see another business-minded witch, and dove right into her free eight week Spiritwork course. Ren's work has felt like a real homecoming for me; I've long pushed aside more traditional witchcraft due to being ostracized as a child, and Ren's dogma-free approach to skills like trance and ritual has been so freeing for me both personally and professionally.
Ren is a Spiritworker. Not sure what that means? Well, give the episode a listen! For Ren, Spiritwork is a natural extension of an animist world view, and when her witchy skills started to seep into her massage practice, a new business was born. Ren shares about discovering she is a witch, growing into that path, and now creating online apprenticeships to help others learn the tools of Spiritwork. Ren also offers some tips on how to work with one of the most difficult spirits of all: money.
There is plenty of witchy cackling, talk of goats and Pokemon, and much, much more. This episode is a touch NSFW so be an adult and listen at your own risk. If you enjoy the podcast, please leave a review on iTunes so more folks can join us around the fire.

Just a few more days ‘til Beltane! Better start charging the camera batteries.
May Day at The Green Man Metaphysical Shoppe & Apothecary in Los Angeles, CA, USA. Ritual led by the Ced Tradition + Spiral Dance by LA ReClaiming + Music by Sharon Knight + 150 some-odd awesome guests representing an incredible array of paths, trads, and cultures. We have so many intense workings throughout the year that are impossible to photograph, either because it would be disruptive to the guests, disruptive to the spirits, the spirits would disrupt my camera, the work is too personal/private/emotional/raw, the room is black-out dark, or I’m busy with the crafting of the work and can’t carry spirit and operate electronics at the same time. Our May Day Festival / Beltane is the exception! I passed off the camera while calling the Northern Airt in the working, but otherwise was free to be the sunny, golden, be-glittered Nikon fairy. Do I have forty amazing close-ups of fire from the evening bonfire? Yes, I do. A hundred macro shots of flowers? Check. Ribbons for days. All the hair adornments. A colorful feast! Makes me giddy as a kid in candy store. Or, as we say in the South, happy as a pig in shit. Because we are classy in the South.
