I printed my comic Dead Rat 10 years ago!! Felt inspired to revisit main character Riley and do a quick drawing of them. This comic introduced me to a world of comics pals and I’m so thankful for that.

This comic really means a lot to me. There’s a lot I find extremely embarrassing about it in retrospect but like whatever that’s the nature of any art you make when you’re a 20yr old. If you weren’t embarrassing as a 20yr old I don’t know what to say to you, we have Nothing in common.

My webcomic (and especially my valentines) gained some popularity on tumblr at the time and it was so encouraging to have something I was making for fun outside of my art school classwork connect with strangers on the internet. I met some lasting friends through the reach of my comic and I think that’s really cool. I feel lucky to have had that fun corner of the web at that time.

This comic also allowed me the space to explore a somewhat self insert character who used they/them pronouns before I was even remotely ready to have that conversation with anyone. We all stumble our way through and I think perhaps maybe comics are actually the elixir of life.

hello i remembered how to Log On to the World Wide Web. instagram has been sucking ass recently and making me feel like my brain is melting out of my skull (not in a fun way.) and so, here i am, tempted to return to this platform. i have fond memories of listening to metronomy in my art school dorm room in 2014 while being filled with a sickening adrenaline from sharing my art and opening my heart to this small corner of tumblr dot com. Very formative for me. Now 10(???) years later i find myself so nostalgic for that openness. lately i feel hardened, guarded, insecure about my ideas and work. most art related things feel pointless. i feel slightly adrift. looking to find my way back! not sure if anyone will see this, but if you do thanks for reading. back in the day I used this blog for art only, but i think i will do some more writing/blog post type stuff on here too because i want to.

my interests that you may see some of in this space involve: gouache painting, experimental comics, poetry, merciless introspection, scribbling, pentel brush pen, oil pastels, wizards, orbs, blimps, inflatable arm guys, chipmunks, coffee, transness, rocks, trinkets, demons, and healthy direct communication. current media consumption: tv - fantasmas movie - i saw the tv glow music - stereolab pod - las cultch reading - percy jackson comfort reread (do not judge me!!!)
